@richardandros depends on the flavour I think, but the omega oils are good for them👍
@Wherenext lovely photos, it’s great around there, we so enjoyed our Winter week the time we met up with you. We used to take our Jeep onto Black Rock Sands many many years ago. Donuts🤭

@Takethedogalong oh I am soo jealous of your theatre evening. Back in 2019 I wanted to see Martin Shaw in Gaslight at the Windsor theatre (we could have stayed at our Son’s) but unfortunately we couldn’t make it. Then I saw he was playing Thomas More. I love Tudor history, this story and him. Unfortunately York is too far, and Brighton and we don’t do central London anymore (I was brought up 15 miles away but don’t want to go there now) Not much comes to Devon but I was hoping for somewhere near Stratford, but no. Anyway glad that you enjoyed it.1

Just spotted your poat @richardandros.... been out for most of the day.... and as my phone is almost 6 years old, the battery seems to die half way through the day!! 😀😀 Sadly, it doesn't look very practical for us to meet up this time around, as we're off to Northumberland first thing Saturday morning and tomorrow will be a bit messy as it's pack up day for us. We will be back up again as soon as Carol has had her hip replaced - she's not too good at the moment and is in constant pain. Do drop me an email (address in profile), and hopefully we can arrange next time around....
Looks as if you are enjoying Wales @Wherenext and @nelliethehooker - lovely photos.....
Just back from our day out. Firstly a visit to Scarborough - the main town was really busy, but managed to park near North Beach, but sand looked quite wet, and a little cool breeze earlier, so wasn't really good for sitting on the beach…
.....then we drove down to one of our favourite places.... Flamborough Head... and, of course, a visit to the cafe…😀😀

@DSB shame about the chair, and the journey needed to replace it. It is always good to have a back-up though! Looked a decent day on the East Coast from your fine photos.
That was a good walk yesterday @Wherenext, backed up by today's,with good views from the castle. Did it brightened up during the afternoon?
Sounds as if you had a good night in York @Takethedogalong

We visited Bodnant Gardens today, doing the long walk out to The Far End and back past Waterfall Bridge to The Old Mill. It was cloudy for some of the day but thankfully the sun came out now and again and was quite warm this evening.
The hall itself, which is private accommodation.
The Pinmill, originally part of a factory!
The Boathouse
Looking across from the Upper Terrace
Autumn has appeared to come early here.

Among the many trees and plants we saw at Bodnant today this one stood out for me, both in looks and because of its AKA names.
The tree is Clerodendrum trichotomum, commonly known as Harlequin Glorybower or Peanut Butter Tree.

Left quite early this morning and back home in 90 minutes. The traffic treated us kindly. Quite breezy today but yesterday afternoon turned out warm and sunny. We really enjoyed the 3 nights away, felt like longer.
We've got a busy week upcoming and quite a bit to sort out. Went to Tesco this morning to get enough to see us through the weekend. As the sun has just appeared OH has suggested I drop her and MiL off at our local with a view for a drink whilst I have to go to town on various errands.
A couple of photos I couldn't send yesterday as signal was poor.
Porthmadog harbour, the start of our Wednesday walk. The town itself has seen better days but the harbour is still pretty.
A dull start but the sun eventually came out.
The church at Llanystumdwy, the birth and final passing place of George Lloyd. The church still has its 3 bells intact. Unfortunately it was locked.

Lovely photos from round and about, weather a bit mixed as it has been here today, although luckily no rain. We have been dog sitting for chums today, but managed to squeeze in a visit to Brodsworth Hall in between two walkies. Took our MH, so pooch was comfy, and cooked ourselves lunch, a quick look around the hall and gardens. The gardens were looking beautiful. Nice to get out in MH as well, everything fine, great to give it a run out.
30 years since the Hall and gardens opened to the public, these are the lovely formal gardens.
Part of the lovely rose garden. I used to spend hours in here as a volunteer, tidying, identifying, pruning. It’s been so hot and dry in our part of Yorkshire that roses have been a bit “quiet”. Most had a fabulous first flush, but the lack of rain hasn’t helped them re bud up.
Stunning herbaceous border, never seen it look as good as this, mind it’s much more mature now. It’s around 11 years now since I had to give up volunteering sadly.😕 Did bump into a few faces I knew though😁

Bodnant Gardens look wonderful @nelliethehooker - we really must visit next time we are that way. 👍👍 Glad you got back safely @Wherenext.
We popped across to Pickering and visited the Castle (and the Steam and Moorland Garden Centre for lunch... 😉😉)
......then back to Cayton Village CAMC site to pack up for our journey up to Northumberland tomorrow.

Thanks for more grand photos today from @DSB, @Takethedogalong and @Wherenext
Glad to read that you got home safely and enjoyed your days away @Wherenext and I hope your tow up further north is uneventful @DSB
We had a drive along some more rather "interesting" roads today to Llyn Crafnant, was once the reservoir for Llanrwst. We did the 3.5 ml low level walk around the reservoir before lunch and then the short nature/accessible trail afterwards. Stopped off at the Sawmill carpark, just above Llanrwst, for another short walk, overlooking the town, on the way back. From here there are a couple of MBT trails, one of which was one of the first in Wales.
The reservoir and the monument to Richard James, who donated the lake and surrounding land to the town of Llanrwst, looking towards the lower slopes of the Carneddau mountains, specially the ridgevof Cefn Cyfarwydd.

Such a beautiful photo of the reservoir @nelliethehooker so peaceful and calm.

@DEBSC Martin Shaw was excellent, it’s such a good play. You never quite know who to expect on stage at the Theatre, as usually it’s only the headline star who gets a first mention. But we did recognise a few more of the very good cast, Gary Wilmott, Abigail Cruttenden (ex Mrs Sean Bean) Timothy Watson and Edward Bennett. It was so funny when Edward Bennet dove outside amongst the audience enjoying a drink outside, he was in full Thomas Cromwell outfit🤭 I think it’s off to Scarborough, and then the West End next.
It can be a long way to get to a big theatre from some places, I envy you your caravan in Stratford. Wish we lived closer, OH took me to see Ralph Fiennes last time we were in Stratford, a long time ago. Sheffield Crucible has had some fantastic stuff down the years though. I was lucky that I had some teachers who loved theatre, and we used to go every couple of weeks with school, so I sort of grew up seeing good theatre. Sam West, Timothy West’s son was the Artistic Director for a while, and before him Michael Grandage, and these two brought some huge stage stars up North.

SO FULL! There'll be jealous views from some quarters.😂 It is lovely up there. A while since we've been though.
The recent drought over your way @Takethedogalong doesn't seem to have too much of an adverse effect on Brodsworth gardens judging from your photos (lovely by the way).
Enjoy the Cantal @RedKite.

@Wherenext yes, we were intrigued by how lovely the gardens looked. That said, it’s only hosepipes that are banned, there’s nothing stopping the use of watering cans.🥴 We have had a tiny bit of overnight rain this week as well, so that might have helped.

Belated best wishes to Mrs.Oneputt for her birthday. Glad to hear your own recent consultation went well @Oneputt.
Had an interesting email today. It was a straight forward simple message from Worcester Bosch Congratulating me (no idea why I needed congratulating) in registering my new Boiler with them. The thing is I registered it in March! Doesn't inspire any confidence in how quick they'll be if a warranty issue arises.🤔

Arrived in Northumberland at South Meadows, Belford, this afternoon (private site). The sky is clear.... but I wonder what it will be like on Monday....?? The site is really layed out nicely. Cars are parked in front of each unit, which actually gives a little bit of privacy. All serviced pitches, with the tap and waste water close to the caravan: I only needed to use a one metre Colapz pipe for the waste water, and a 5 metre water hose was ample, with left over.... The trouble is that the EHU wire is one standard length, so it was difficult to know what to do with all the spare wire!! 😀 The only problem is that there is no secure gate to the touring pitches.. (but I always fit 2 Alko wheel lock and a hitch lock anyway), otherwise the site is excellent. There is a small food van permanently on site for those who want a take away pizza, or something else...
(Photo from our caravan side window)
Decided we won't put out the Thule Canopy... rumour has it that the weatber might not be too good from tomorrow for a few days....

Thank @milliehull it was peaceful yesterday, even with two separate scout camps all pitched up at the far end. I suspect it will be busier around it today although the road to it is very narrow so we are glad to we went earlier in the week. All of the reservoirs and lakes (Llyns) have plenty of water in them but are not full by any means.

We had a walk along by the river from the town's Park this morning, where tomorrow surprise we saw a bat hunting over the water. Returned past Gwydir Castle, a rather grey Tudor Manor house, hidden behind high stone walls. After lunch I had a walk into the town, down past the old alms houses, to see St Grwst's Church, built in the 15C, which contains some very interesting monuments especially in the Gwydir Chapel which had been added in 1633-4 by Richard Wynn.
The Alms House and gateway into the churchyard.
The church itself, outside and in.
Some of the monument which make interesting reading.

@DSB look up Cocklawburn Beach, it’s stunning and not usually very busy, great for a beach stroll. Not far from Belford, just South of Spittal. Etal is a nice village with a Castle and a good pub for meals/ coffee. If you haven’t been, Flodden Battlefield is worth a visit, a shortish walk around from little car park.👍
Managed a swim in pool at teatime, hoping the storm will miss us Monday.

Thanks for those suggestions @Takethedogalong - I'll take a look a little later on.... At the moment, where we go is dependant on walking distance and how even the surface is.- Carol is really sruggling with her hip at present, and is in a lot of pain, so if we don't manage them all this time, I'll add them to my list of places to visit the next time we come. Really grateful for the suggestions... 👍👍 - I'll let you know how we get on. In the meantime the rain is coming down here in Belford....

@DSB lucky you, you are in my favourite part of the world. Lots of great places to visit although I completely understand the difficulty in getting to some of them with hip issues!
We have had a really, really, busy week with our Macau family visiting. We must be getting old as we are absolutely exhausted from the constant noise and early mornings. We have loved seeing them all the same.It was my three quarters of a century birthday last Friday and they made a great surprise birthday balloon arch for me! The kids loved the demolition of this later in the day, but I think we will be finding gold confetti and balloon bits for weeks! BTW this is not usual for us at 7.55am!!🤣
Further news of hip issues. I have another consultant appointment on Monday for mine, hopefully I can join the waiting list for a new one. I have been wanting to avoid this but I’m struggling now and it’s not going to get better.
Enjoy the breaks everyone and love seeing the pictures.3 -
Ah, I don’t think Cocklawburn will suit you then, sorry, or Flodden. If it’s not too far, Eyemouth over the Border is quite nice, I used to take Mum there. You can park usually in the town centre, close to seafront, and most of the town is flat. Plenty of eateries. It’s a nice drive up as well, lovely scenery. We love Northumberland, such an interesting, scenic county, full of history.
Happy birthdays to those having them.🥳
Cool here this morning, with a bit of drizzle. Looks like an Aldi top up day.
I joined an informal craft group last week, neighbour has taken up crochet and wondered if I was interested, so off we went. I have never learned to crochet, so thought I might like it. Took some knitting to do while tutor did her rounds, but we had to head home a bit earlier so I only got a brief chat with her. Knitting coming along fine though, and it’s a nice group, folks doing all sorts of crafts. What makes it really nice is that it’s inside the oldest secular building in our town, dating from 1470! It’s a wonderful timber framed two storey place, originally built as a merchants house on the High Street. Various incarnations down the centuries, it was the Army and Navy Stores in my childhood, but closed and stood empty and neglected for decades, although being listed, it wasn’t at risk for being demolished. It was made safe, renovated sympathetically and is now a very nice micro pub, CAMRA listed, and hosts all sorts of events, especially those for women. So full of interest, and interesting people😁 Not sure about the crochet to be honest, there seemed to be lots of unravelling, think I might stick to knitting.🤭

What a great picture @heddlo Belated Happy Birthday 🎂🎉

Lovely photo of the 3 of you @heddlo. Must have made your birthday that little bit more special.
Gardening duties this afternoon. I was sort of hoping the weather might save me but you just can't rely on anything these days.😂So am now feeling my age. Fortunately OH put me in a shaded place where I could do least damage.
We're due the highest of the winds projected for our area about midday tomorrow. Unfortunately we have appointments in town round then. I hope those travelling anywhere within the storms sphere take note of travelling advice. Stay safe.

Went to Etal today @Takethedogalong. A lovely village and a lovely journey, with views over to (what I think were the Cheviot Hills??)
Managed a look around Etal Castle....
....and you didn't tell me anout the Cider place, @Takethedogalong.... 🤣🤣🤣 ... came away with a few bottles!!!
...we didn't manage a visit to the thatched pub, but managed a hot drink and scone from the Post Office/ Cafe accross the road.
There was also a craft fayre on at the village hall and managed to pick up a couple of small 'homemde' loaves.
Didn't get chance for a ride on the train, or to visit the church.... something for us to do next time....
Thanks for telling us about Etal, @Takethedogalong. 👍👍
