I was probably a bit premature in making that comment about the weather, this morning - because by about 11am - the sun came out!!😀 First we have seen for nearly a week, although there is still a bit of a chilly breeze, albeit much reduced in intensity of recent days. Thank you @Wherenext for responding to my request.😎

Ros wanted to go to Robin Hood's Bay and although I was a bit apprehensive about my ability to walk down and then up that hill, we went. I managed about 100 yards or so from the bottom car park down the hill but then my hip was so painful I had to give up. We managed to get to the coffee shop at the top and had a very pleasant time basking in the glorious sunshine.

Lovely photos from all. @richardand ros won't go red! Glad the sunshine come out for you and commiserations on your hip issue.

Just been for my 1st, of 6, shock treatments on my PF 😱. Apparently it is pretty bad, so I wasn't making too much of a fuss! It involved 5 minutes of 3 bar 2000 ?? at 8 shocks per second on the 'sour' spot. Yes I grimaced a lot! He said I was free to shout/scream/swear he'd heard it all 😂. Delighted to say I did none of those - by the skin of my teeth! Back again on Saturday, when I think just the bar rate is increased.... He strapped it up, I've got to keep it on until the next treatment, so smelly week. Others don't strap. Keeping the strapping on could prove problematic as plasters don't like my skin.

MMuch Cooler here with breaks in the clouds and the sun is really hot.

Ask and you shall receive @richardandros. Just ask @KjellNN as his request was also answered!

Nice easy 2 hour journey home, split between the 2 of us. 3rd. lot of washing in now. Overcast on the drive home but as soon as we got home the sun came out. Back to boring things now. Road tax bill sitting on my desk for The Van when I got home. Yuk. Garden needs some attention as does a variety of new items, such as a new side door and a new oven/hob to be looked into.

We were at the dentist this morning for check ups, OH has to go back for 3 fillings to replace some very old ones that are now cracking up, so that will be a few hundred £s now we can no longer get NHS treatment.

Just as we got to the dentist, DD rang to ask if we were busy today as she was clearing out her garage and could do with some help to lift and stash stuff. So we went down there afterwards and I found some timber for making repairs at the guide hall, and some for making into pens and spurtles.
After lunch the clearing out continued, DD made a trip to the dump, and we got pretty much everything worth keeping stashed back in the garage.

    Back home now for dinner.

So pleased to hear that Mr & Mrs @Wherenext had such a good week away with wonderful weather by the sound of it. Also the @nelliethehooker's have also had wonderful weather. I love the photos from all of you.

Goodnes that sounds a reallÿ scarey diversion @richardandros. I am pleased to got to the site safely.

Unfortunately we haven't had the good weather here. We have been covered with a blanket of cloud which has made it decidedly chilly since last Thursday. The last 2 afternoons the cloud has disapeared and it has become quite warm in the sun - a day of 2 halves!

I have made a start today on getting ready for our trip to Devon later in the week. Having seen the weather forecast I have decided that some wet weather gear might be in order. I know we desperately need rain by why did it decide on the week we are away!

So sorry to hear that your hip is causing you more problems with your walking @richardandros but pleased to hear that the weather has improved for you, as can be seen in your photos. Quite impressive cloud cover on the cliffs over the bay!

@Wherenext Good to read that you got home safe and sound, and am impressed with your OH's washing feats!!😁

That treatment sounds excruciating @Bakers2 I am sure you will be very glad when it is completed.

Fingers crossed that the weather in Devon is not as bad as you fear millie

@nelliethehooker fantastic photos, such interesting places👍

We had a lovely meet up with our friends yesterday, and a very nice meal at The Boat Inn, Sprotborough, not far from Doncaster. It’s a canal/ riverside pub, and it now accepts Motorhomes for overnight stays in the big car park. There are quite a few pubs around us here in South Yorks that now offer overnight stays.

Still quite warm here at home in N. Warks. Shopping 'this morning' (which could very well extend in to the afternoon!! 🫤) - I'm in ASDA car park at the moment, in the 'small car' (aka 'the rust bucket') whilst Carol goes in the shop.... then a meeting tonight. Looking forward to getting out in the caravan again soon, so no doubt the rain will come, when we do.

The 'big car' has also gone in for work today.... coolant leak and 'brake judder' - they reckon warped discs!! Meanwhile, I've been putting coolant in the car like it's going out of fashion.

Then Thursday of this week, the caravan goes in for it's annual service... Looks like it's going to work out an expensive week!!

Envious of all who are out in caravans/ motorhomes, at the moment.... if it's anything like it is here, you certainly have the weather for it....

We were promised some rain for around lunchtime today. It's just arrived but I'm not sure its going to amount to much. We want to start replacing some of the plants that we culled but the ground is way too hard.

Just finished preparing some Bubble and Squeak patties to go with the Cumberland sausage and onion gravy for tonight.

We've been having some trouble with our new BT VOIP system. Trying to get through to a person at BT was a challenge in itself. Only a slight improvement gained so we'll see how MiL copes with it, the problem being the (short) amount of time allocated to answer the phone. It often stops before she gets there so after explaining that the whole system would be useless to us if not rectified they've extended it to the maximum they can which is only 30 seconds. She might have to go down the mobile route but that might be a step too far for her.

    Its just stopped raining! 🤷🏼

We escaped the worst of the storms yesterday and today but did have 32mm of rain overnight and this morning and still looking very cloudy outside but the south and south east have had severe storms upto 250mm of rain, bridges and roads collapsed 3 people have died some places cut off and no electricity also some large sized hailstorms in some areas.

Our ground is now quite wet even though we are on rock but at least it drains well.

@RedKite as I feared, once the rain started, it would be an issue. Sounds like it wasn't very pleasant for some and tragic for others.

Still no sign of any moisture here and @Wherenext - on the wet side of the country, appears to have had a few drops, but nothing of use. We too have lots of plants to get in the ground. I tried to dig something out about 3 weeks ago to give to my brother before he went and bent my handfork!

I had a very restful night following my treatment and felt I walked much better this morning, little or no pain. However, now I've been on it a bit, it's impossible not to!, some more of the usual stabbing pains are happening 🥲 but not as frequently or intensely 🤞.

Been a beautiful all day. Sunshine, some cloud, reasonable temperatures. I hope others have enjoyed similar.

@DSB we also have an older car to run around in a 15 year old mini convertible that we got very cheap from a friend of 2nd oldest son. This means we don’t put so many miles on the Volvo use it mainly only for towing now saves money on tyres etc too and don’t have to worry about parking the mini worrying about it getting dented etc

A dull start to the day but it soon brighten up and it has been fine, sunny by and warm for the rest of th he day, perfect to get the washing dried outside while we were out. We drove over to Boat of Garten and did the Two Lochs walk, and a bit, hoping to spot a Crested Tit or two, but without success. However we did interrupt the shooting of one of the episodes of series 4 of Robson Green's Weekend Escapes, which show on BBC2. We then did another short walk on the way back to the site. Our last night here before we moved onto our next site.

The view across Loch Garten with the Corbetts Meall a Bhuachaille to the right and Craig nan Gall to the left.

@RedKite sounds dreadful what has happened in S France, so sad. Such extremes.

@nelliethehooker you on the other hand are enjoying some lovely weather. Still no rain here, but we might get a wee bit next week. Sunny this morning here.

Reading your PF treatment with interest @Bakers2

Our youngest vehicle is eleven years old (Jeep Wrangler), while oldest is 44 years old (MGB). Other two are in between. The younger ones are far less complicated and costly, and can at times be wellied with a hammer and a bit of gaffer tape to keep rolling. The Jeep needs to be molly coddled, has to talk to the Mother Ship (computer) every so often, and you have to have a healthy bank balance, but in truth it it has never failed an MOT, it just eats batteries.

Edit. Just reading with interest about the wild camping decision on Dartmoor. This of course being true camping, in a small tent, not anything to do with campervans or Motorhomes.

@Francis, don't talk about tyres!! Got the car back yesterday and they said I need 2 back tyres. Rang up the local tyre place... £186 each (for the Discovery). Sitting in Starbucks accross the road from the tyre place waiting for them to do the tyres... 🙂

I've just read a weather forecast for today in the Newspaper which indicated rain for most of the day, easing into the evening! I've not seen a single cloud from the moment I woke up to posting this. Clear blue sunshine and gentle winds all day. Where do they get these reports from? I find weather forecasting, not matter who is giving it, to be generally poor to average.

As a result of the weather most of our time today has been on outside jobs. Tidying up in the garden where we can, taking all of the Forget-me-nots out, hosing down the metal fencing which has upset an awful lot of spiders, some watching of the bees and butterflies attracted to our lavender bush. We visited town as well to make appointments for door company to visit and kitchen appliance firm to give us a call as well.

Once again it has been a fine and for the most part sunny day with a gentle breeze at times. We had a trouble-free drive up to the C&CC's Speyside site today, and the site is perhaps 30% full, with a wide mixture of units, tents, a tentbox, PVCs, M/Hs and caravans, and various nationalities including Dutch and Germans.

Just got home from NYM after what, to my delight, was a totally uneventful trip back. No hair raising visits to Harwood Dale, this time!! Car unloaded and the perishables out of the van - the rest can wait until tomorrow - time for a much needed cuppa. All in all, we didn't do much while we were away - mainly down to my mobility problems at the moment - but it was good to get away and we met some really nice people while we were there.

Dropped the ladies off at MiLs surgery this morning for her MOT. She seems to have passed. Asked her how she got on and her reply was that the really friendly, nice young Nurse told her to be more positive as she is doing exceptionally well. MiL agreed that she would, cue OH and Self banging our heads against an imaginary wall. We must tell her at least once every day but obviously we're not the experts!😂 So she suggested we all go for a walk tomorrow!

We were rather surprised to travel home in a bit of mizzle but by the time we got home it had stopped and sun out again. Hope that the typical dour forecast for BH weekend doesn't materialise for those members who will be away.

Youngest grandson travelling in Australia, bus booked but due to the flooding there and bus being cancelled, he had to take a plane instead or he may have missed the connection for his flight home. With all the lovely weather here it seems they have the rain, which we don’t expect out there too much. He’s had a good time but I think he will be glad to get home now. His family are looking forward to seeing him.

I’ve just dropped OH off to pick up his car after it’s MOT and service, hope it’s not going to cost too much.

Hairdressers appointment for me this morning. A young lad 16 or 17 came in and sat in the ladies salon instead of the barbers, hair washed, then moved to the mirror where rollers were placed in his hair, then a perm. I spoke quietly to my hairdresser, she said, it’s all the rage, apparently many young lads go in now for close cut back and sides but then the top left long and permed. Back to the 80s.

I realised that I haven't thanked everyone for their positive comments about me buying my friend's automatic Kia Picanto. Thank you so much, hopefully I will get used to it. Unfortunately there has been a bit of a hiccup with my friend's moving date - very stressful for her, so I won't be getting the car for another week or so. We are off down to Devon anyway tomorrow.

We haven't had a spot of rain here although it is very much needed. The floods in France look dreadful. Poor souls. I hope your grandson gets home from Australia safely @DEBSC. I am glad you had an uneventful journey home @richardandros. Lovely photos again from everyone.

We took our cat to the cattery this morning and were given the very sad news that one of the owners died very recently. Such a shock. The wife is trying to run it on her own at the moment as they have bookings until September but I doubt she will stay on after that. We have been taking our cats there for over 20 years. Such a lovely couple. So very sad.

Caravan Service day today.... and all is well - no problems at all. I always worry about damp, but everything is OK... 👍👍

Weather wise, it's been a bit overcast today, but the sun has come out in the last hour. Unfortunately the weather isn't looking too good for next week, across the board... ☹️

Good to read that you got home without any problems and you had a relaxing stay at NYM @richardandros

Hope that you're grandson is able to get home easily now @DEBSC and that your OH's car passed its MOT and itgst it hasn't been too costly.

Pleased to read that your caravan got through its service without any problems @DSB

MMy Mum had that on a plaque in her garden. Now you've got me wondering what happened to it.......

    I certainly echo the sentiments

@milliehull safe travels, happy holidays. I'm so sorry for your friend and her stress. I remember it well and shudder as I recall. I heard similar from a neighbour who's daughter was ex̌change this week. Their story is the person theyre buying from have discovered structural issues in the propeproperty they're buying, BUT they've found another in the same road 🤐..I hope things work out.

@nelliethehooker and @Bakers2 my Grandad had a similar stone plaque as well! It is somewhere in my Mum’s garden now I think, but sadly I think it might have broken in two as it will be around 45 years old. I shall have to have a good search for it. It’s a nice little poem. That looks a very nice castle and garden.

@milliehull sorry to hear about your friend’s delayed move, and it’s sad about the cattery owner as well. It’s not easy finding helpful and nice people to leave your beloved pets with, or those that provide good services such as grooming. Enjoy Devon.

Another sunny day here, but it was chilly last night.

@DEBSC We all went out last night for a meal to celebrate eldest grandson's 18th and the young waiter who served us had exactly the hairstyle you describe! Short round the sides and permed on top. I am told it is called a mullet.
