What are you all up to

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas, will have a good New Year, and has survived all the bad weather.
Things have not exactly been too good here as I have spent the last 20 days in hospital, and likely to be here another few days yet, due to slipping on some ice on our front steps and breaking 4 ribs. OH called an ambulance as I was in a great deal of pain, that arrived within 30 minutes and I was duly transported to A&E where I was seen within another 30 minutes, and eventually admitted after an x ray and a CT scan, due to needing pain control.
Was only to be a few days, but I developed a lung infection, still ongoing, then had blood and fluid that had to be drained, poor breathing requiring oxygen, and needed serious pain control. Actually feeling much better now, and made a few posts on here to help pass the time, but until the infection is gone they will not let me home.
So all Christmas and New Year arrangements were cancelled for us. OH was invited to go alone, but she did not really feel like it, so has just been keeping warm at home, but has managed in to visit me . Son and family and Daughter and family have also been here several times, other relatives have phoned, and OH Facetimes me regularly, but I am really looking forward to getting home before too much longer.

Blimey Kj you have certainly been in the wars! I hope things improve PDQ, not a Christmas you will forget.

We have had it very windy here since last night, but nothing as bad as it sounds your way WN. We didn’t chance the bikes this morning, just had a walk around instead. Back in for lunch, and got the pantry sorted, so just chilling at the moment in front of stove. We are just having homemade burgers tonight, and a nice pasta meal tomorrow. I won’t be stopping up tonight unless by accident, it’s not something we celebrate to be honest.

@KjellNN Very sorry to hear that you have been unwell and spending time in hospital, hope that you make a speedy recovery and can return home very soon. I did wonder if things were ok as you’ve not posted for a while.
For some unknown reason I got logged out and had a bit of difficulty getting back in to the forum.
A very Happy New Year to everyone.2 -
@KjellNN so sorry to read your post. Hopefully you're on the mend now. Take good care of yourself and follow medical advice.
We had a lovely Christmas Day at our sons. A quite Boxing Day and had eldest grandson on the Friday, whilst the rest had a double changeover in the farmhouse and cottage fed them dinner and bathed the boys.
We finally had a beautiful day weatherwise yesterday after days of murk and gloom. My washing, towels and bedding dried beautifully and smelt wonderful as we had a decent breeze.
Slightly drier underfoot today for the dog walk today, but the wind began to get up late morning, so far not to @Wherenext example thankfully. But pretty strong
@DavidKlyne I'm very pleased to read you've bitten the bullet and that Margaret can have her hip sorted.
The fireworks have already started!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2025.

@KjellNN 😱just caught up with this. So sorry to hear of your accident, and the complications. Never nice to have to spend Christmas in hospital. Take things steady, and hope you get home asap. Good to hear your family are organised, and looking after your OH. All the best.

So sorry to hear your news @KjellNN

I echo your New Year sentiments @milliehull and hope 2025 is a "kind" year. We've not done much today apart from general household duties although I did nip out to our local eatery and make a reservation for the 3 of us for a meal as its OH birthday next week and her mother insisted she wanted to treat us to lunch. I wanted to record the promise of her paying but was too late so guess who'll end up doing it?🤣 It's the thought that counts (so they say).
MiL will be telling everyone she had lettuce butties tonight and it's partially true but it makes me seem like scrooge with the food. I did some chicken fillets marinated in a cajun sauce, flash fried with some salad and frites and she loves making a sandwich with the chicken, cut into strips, and butterhead lettuce leaves and occasionally a lettuce chip butty. We know how to live the high life here.😂 Still, it gets her eating.
The wind has died down to normal gusts of about 40mph just now. Hope @nelliethehooker isn't rocking too much in this.
Best wishes everyone.
EDIT - Just read your news @KjellNN. I have a lot of sympathy for you having broken 4 of my own ribs a few years ago. You'll feel it for a while I'm afraid. Best of luck for your recovery.

I will try again
I am so sorry to hear your news @KjellNN Not good to have to spend Christmas in hospital. It must have been difficult for all of you. Pleased to hear that you are beginning to feel a bit better and hope you are back home soon.

Oh dear @KjellNN what a way to end the year! Hope you are soon over the infection and are able to get home before long.
Perhaps those buying the decoration were just getting prepared for next Christmas, milliehull! With regard to being unable to edit or delete a post I have found it best to just save it to draft, then you can cancel the whole post there, and then start again.
Sounds like you had a very nice Christmas with your family, @Bakers2 Hope the winds are not too fierce where you live.
@Wherenext hope that the wind has died down and there has been no more flying debris. Your evening meal sounds very nice, we had a chicken stir fry with Teriyaki sauce and rice, and very tasty it was too. sheltered. We were going to head out this afternoon with our daughter and SIL for a chippy tea at Cleveleys but she phone to cancel as they both have got a very heavy cold and didn't want to pass to on to us.
We managed to get two dry walks in before lunch but the the wind got up and the rain arrived!! It is still blowing but we are relatively sheltered so the van isn't rocking much at all. Flyte and I got rather wet on this afternoon and evening walks and it sounds as if we will get rather damp again before bed time.
We wish one and all a Happy New Year, and for most a successful touring year in 2025. All the Best.

@KjellNN so sorry to hear of your accident. What a dreadful way to spend Christmas and New Year. Glad to hear you are on the mend, but take care and don’t rush things.
Very best wishes for a happy, healthy 2025 to all.

We just had simple burgers last night, but I am doing our favourite pasta meal today, then it’s time to start exercising and dieting for me. Hoping to get my cycling fitness back, and as we have a wedding early July, I have a couple of dresses lined up. Fridge is still full of cheese (really nice truckles, all sorts of flavours, thankfully long dates) but have packed other stuff away out of temptations reach………….😵💫

I know what you mean @Takethedogalong. Both our daughters have brought cheese to our house and we still have it in the fridge.... together with the cheese we bought. Then, as part of a Christmas present, I ordered some Snowdonia cheese to be delivered to my neice as part of a Christmas present. "Unfortunately.." I ticked the wrong box and they delivered it to us instead!! I'm thinking of opening a cheese shop!! 🤣🤣

Happy New Year to everyone. Sorry to hear your news Kj @KjellNN- hope you're back home soon and on the mend. Must have been pretty grim being in hospital over Christmas - here's to a speedy recovery.
Has anyone else noticed - the date of posting is now only showing the month and the year? Makes following what's happening a bit difficult. Perhaps @Rowena can flag this up?
We didn't get the winds anywhere as near as strong as they were forecast (makes a change!) but after a half decent day, yesterday, we've now reverted to the usual grey, dull overcast stuff we seem to have had for ages.
Had a productive morning - managed to repair a broken lug on one of the caravan locker doors, using a plastic welding gun bought from you know where. Saved both the massive expense of a new door plus months of waiting for it to be delivered from Germany😀. Rather pleased with myself.

@KjellNN I'm so sorry to hear of your experiences over Christmas. I hope you're getting better day by day and soon be home.

Thanks for all the good wishes, I am actually feeling fine, though still a bit sore. 3 weeks today since I fell, the sharp noses of 2 steps caught me on the left side of my back, the bruising is spectacular. Ribs numbers 3,4, 6 and 7 are broken, number 5 was between steps. Once this infection is conquered I will be allowed home, it is a little reduced in the blood test from yesterday.
Christmas in here was not too bad, I even had a visit from Santa, who brought me a present…..a very nice furry blanket….and last night the nurses were dispensing crisps, sweets and a slice of cake, plus your choice of sherry or whisky, to celebrate New Year.
Today I had a visit from our daughter plus family, they were off to have lunch with SIL’s aunt and family, so that was nice. Not a lot worth watching on TV, I have Mary Poppins on meantime, only limited channels available.

Hi @richardandros .... tbh I hadn't noticed it had the full date before, but lets hope @Rowena can flag it up with the developers...

It was very windy here overnight and what with the wind and the fireworks it was a very disturbed night. It was a very wet and windy morning and although it settled down a bit in the afternoon we decided it wasn't a day to be out and about so we have given some of the kitchen cupboards a good clear out and clean. A good job done 😊

Glad Kj is being fortified in hospital!!!!
I must suffer from OCD as I fail to understand why people don't move their wheelie bins back into their properties as soon as the bin man have been? With the wind last night many were blown over and one "conventional" bin ended up in the middle of the road outside my house!
Went to visit son and daughter in law today. They have visitors from Sicily (daughter in law's sister) staying briefly, they are taking Brazilian mother in law back with them for a few weeks. At least she should find it warmer there than MK? The sister from Sicily teaches English and most years she brings a group of students over the the UK and they stay in Cambridge in the colleges when the Cambridge students have gone home for the holidays. They love it but complain about the food as the miss pasta!!!

Good to hear that you are feeling much better @KjellNN .
The weather has been much better today, not too windy with just the odd shower. We drove over to Lytham for a walk, and a blow, on the front then around Lowther Gardens. In the afternoon I had another walk from the van through to Weeton, past St Michael's Church, which was built in 1843.
The iconic view.
The Shrimper statue in Lowther Park.

I know I'm always boring you with tales of how good East Riding Council are with re-cycling - but every day before a bin collection is due - at 1600 hrs on the dot - I get a text telling me which bin is due to be collected the following day. You have to sign up for it - but it's really useful.
I see @Rowena had worked her magic (even on NY'sD!!) the dates are now showing correctly. Thank you.

@nelliethehooker .... hope you don't mind, Nellie, but i've done a slight edit on your post above. There were empty spaces between the pictures, which I have tried to get rid of to make the post easier to read. Hope that's OK....
