Called in at the GP surgery to pick up a blood form. Waiting to be seen behind a gentleman who had brought in some meds and wasn't sure if he still had to take them. Receptionist was very kind with him, going through each one, taking those off him that were not needed and telling him what others were for. She asked if they were all his own meds. He confirmed they were but she gently pointed out that one of them was given to pregnant women! No need to take that one then.๐Ÿ˜‚

Very icy this morning. Took a while for car to defrost but quite a lovely day even if the temperature didn't get above 3C all day.

Beautiful view of Venus (the planet before any smart comments!) tonight. Really bright.

Lovely sunny day here, and great view from my 9th floor room. Still no nearer to getting home. The blood that was taken to try to grow whatever bug is in my system produced no bugs at all, so docs are very puzzled. Lung specialist is to see me again.

More blood was taken today to do another CRP test, something that shows if you have an infection marker in your blood, as far as I can make out. It was very slightly down in the blood taken 2 days back, but not good enough to release me. Hoping for a better result this time. It is becoming quite tedious being stuck in here, but I do understand why they are hanging on to me.

I had a visit from our son today, he then went on to our daughterโ€™s house to pick up the parcels she could not take to him previously due to the nail in tyre. He is back to work tomorrow, DD is back to her court case. SIL will be on childcare duties.

DD is coming to see me on Saturdayโ€ฆโ€ฆif I am still hereโ€ฆโ€ฆI do hope not! On Sunday she will go up to see OH, and fit the kids car seats in our smaller car, and show OH how to strap the kids in, as we should be back on grandparent duty on Wednesday. I do hope I will be home by then, I worry about OH being on her own so long. We have never had to spend a Christmas or New Year apart since 1966.

@DSB The problem I have found with editing the posts with photos is that the writing doesn't appear where I place it when reposting, and the spacing between the photos also changes. I think it depends on what device one views the posts. Thanks all the same David.

After a shower of rain in the early evening yesterday when I went out with Flyte just after 10:00 the car was already frozen up. It was still freezing when we got up but the sun soon defrosted the car, and thankfully the roads were not very icy. Drove over to the coast and had a walk along the prom past Rossall school. Nice and sunny with only a gentle breeze, and lots of other out walking too. Called in at Aldi on the way back to the van and picked up a few post Christmas bargains so we are now well stocked up with fancy biscuits and cakes.

The sunrise this morning and on our prom walk.

    Nail in tyreโ€ฆโ€ฆ

DD got her new car, Skoda Kodiaq, on 20/12, on31/12 she was going to take delayed gifts to her brother after visiting me in hospital, but only a few minutes down the road she got a low tyre pressure warning. Went into nearby Sainsburyโ€™s PFS to inflate tyre, discovered large nail, with washer, in tyre. Aborted trip to her brother, all tyre places then closed, so inflated tyre and managed to limp home.

Got it repaired today, ยฃ30, but she is hopping mad at the damage!

She is now waiting for the insurance settlement for her old car, return of balance of VED, and eventually her excess.

The at fault driver, who drove out into her car, driven by her OH, on a roundabout that he was already on, who admitted fault to SIL, and said she was fine, is now claiming for personal injury and blaming DDโ€™s OH as apparently she did not see him as he had not turned his lights on.

However, one big problem thereโ€ฆ..DDโ€™s car is a Volvoโ€ฆโ€ฆlights are ALWAYS on! You cannot turn off the running lights. Plus, a wiring loom fault a few years back meant that the only fix was to wire both headlights to be always on. So other driver patently lying. DDโ€™s insurance are having none of it. SIL has a text from other driver saying she is fine.

She is a teacher, as he is, and known to several of his fellow teachers, though she does not work at his school. Sounds like lawyers have got involved and are encouraging her to make false claims!

Hi @nelliethehooker. It's all a bit odd... the difference between one device and another. The photos today of the sunrise and prom all seem to have come out absolutely fine.

We've woken to a frosty morning today - I think the first morning frost this winter. Hope it warms up a bit.....

@DSB The problem comes perhaps because I load the photos and associated comments from my phone and then try and edit the comments on my kindle. Last night the whole post was submitted from the phone, without any editing, hence it looking fine.

It was freezing when we went to bed but by morning the temperature had risen to 4C, and all the frost had gone. We had another walk at Lytham today before a bit if shopping. Our last night here before heading further north, towards home. It was a lovely clear sky at 5:30 when I took Flyte out but it has since clouded up.

Another statue in Lowther Gardens. Rock on!!

& the evening scene from the CL.

Hi Nellie ( @nelliethehooker ). It sounds to me like it might be to do with how the Kindle works?? Unfortunately, I have no experience at all with a Kindle. These days I tend to stick with the Samsung phone as it's where my photos are anyway, should I wish to post any. For posting on CT, I use my Tablet less often and rarely my laptop.

I'll try and keep an eye out for any formatting problems. Fingers crossed we can eventually get it sorted....

P.S. Love the photos above... espectially the evening scene from the CL... ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

    All good wishes,

Only managed to complete one jigsaw puzzle over the Christmas period. Ravensburger always do a special Christmas Edition and this year was the 50th anniversary version. Only slight blip which the eagle eyed amongst you might notice is there is a piece missing. A bit annoying. I can't claim its the makers as it could have disappeared anywhere!

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ @DavidKlyne - you must be really frustrated about the lost piece.โ€ฆ but at least you set me a task to find it... I couldn't rest until I found the space for the missing piece... ๐Ÿ™‚

@DSB I have moved chairs and settees just to check that it is not under one of them. I don't think the cleaner we used would have sucked it up and even if it did the contents have long gone. I have an eye on this puzzle on Ebay which is quite cheap so I may buy it just to complete the puzzle. A bit OTT I know. Ravensburger do a special puzzle every Christmas and I have a wardrobe full of them that I have done over the years so it would be nice to add this to my collection.

@KjellNN - Is it any wonder why insurance premiums have gone through the roof when you see this sort of reaction? Hope you are reading this at home.

Had a busy day today trying to get things done away from home that I might not be able to in next few days, like a trip to the recycling centre and hardware store. Had a nice trip out with MiL and OH yesterday to a garden centre that we've not been to for a while. MiL always eager for a trip out and The Van needed a blast.

Trying to stay warm. Daresn't look at the Smart Meter.

Thanks @DSB I also keep having an odd problem when starting a new line, as the curser keeps jumping back to the first letter after the 3rd and subsequent letters, so it takes a few deletions and retyping the following letters, but once I insert a space all is fine again. Below is my attempt to try and type David followed by a space!! Most strange and annoying too.

It was 3C when we rose this morning and has stayed around that temperature all day but thankfully it has been dry. Move up to the CC's Meathop Fell site where we are making use if our free night. The flat fields all the way from Levens are flooded in places, and covered in ice as it has obviously been much colder up here than down on the Fylde. There were caravans leaving the site as we were arriving at 13:15!! It turned out that they had decided to leave a day early because of the forecasted snow overnight and not wanting to get stuck on site. Now there are only 20 units on tonight. I had a walk along the flats before darkness fell to view the frozen landscape.

Photo is across Meathop Marsh to Arnside Knott on the horizon beyond Milnthorpe Sands.
