Yes there's lift at both ends so really easy, also both ends are on some very good cycle paths on both sides of the river and on into North and South Shields and further on.

Post edit, there's also the North/South Shields ferry which takes bikes (£1.90 single) so you can take the tunnel one way and come back via the ferry.

We had a great get together with our friends yesterday although it was sad to see the normally very popular pub where we had lunch practically empty. Today we took our gt grandson and his mummy and daddy to the dinosaur exhibition at the cathedral. It was a huge success. He absolutely loved it. Next week we have 2 of our teenage grandchildren  to stay for a few days while our daughter and SIL are in Devon for a wedding. I think it will mainly consist of us giving them lifts somewhere! We also have to feed their animals - a cat, guinea pig and rabbit. We are also feeding the animals next weekend while they all go off camping. I might need another holiday soon!

Lovely Millie. Isn't seeing the young enthralled at something new but old at the same time wonderful? A bit like seeing Grandma for the first time I suppose.😅

Hope you have a good time with the younger family members and pets Millie. The dinosaurs must be a great attraction for all, nice to see someone enjoying them close up!

Indeed, Brue!....  Don't know why, but wondered if it might be something to do with the new booking system...  just guessing!

Indeed. Would be nice to have some advance warning. I was about to reply to a post, luckily needed to login, otherwise wasted time and effort.

Could they not put a banner that runs top or bottom of the page with such useful information? Imagine being in the throws of a booking..........

Warm cloudy and humid, 26c but feels much worse

Yes David, I thought the same?! It would also be good to see an end to server errors...we live in hope. wink

Coming up for the end of the month and OH has to tally up all the fishing licences sold at various venues in our area of the River Parrett. So I went with him on a Round Robin, two nice camp sites included. Thorney Lakes which has good lake fishing (very nice country site near Mulchelney Abbey) and also  Southfork which has river fishing and is in a good spot for several NT properties plus East Lambrook Manor. Nice cafe called the Ranch at Southfork, so we had a coffee etc. Very popular for breakfasts, wish I'd left room to partake but I'd had toast and jam not long before! River Parrett photo taken at Kingsbury Episcopi, another fishing and walking area.

Now now B2,  you do realise that to put such a Warning Banner on here would take up over half the staff at   EH Towers for a day or six  surprised

Would that not count as gainful employment and be good practice on the system? 🤐😉

Quiet on here even by recent past postsings. I must admit I expected it to be out all weekend as it went 'off' much earlier on the Friday evening so perhaps others thought similarly and haven't popped back.

Humid here again enough dampness to dirty the windows and make the ground shine about 5am.

Off to do all chores and prep dinner so it doesn't disturb footie timings - nottgat I watch but I keep an ear and eye out, OH wants to watch it. I must admit, mum of an excellent footballer, I have found the Lionesses much more interesting to watch! Go for it you've got the skill for it 🤞

We have been getting very light clouds of rain, just damping the paving slightly but not making any in roads for the plants. Warm and humid. Had a nice local walk earlier on and then a neighbour invited me in to look at some Alstromeria flowers  not something we have ever been able to grow. Surprisingly lots of colours and varieties, interesting how some get hooked on a particular plant and seen together quite a sight!

Do you think the weekenders have departed JVB, sites often empty out on Sundays? I quite like empty sites but I don't expect it's good for business. wink

Can't get interested in football, OH will watch it,  but hope the team does well. ⚽️

Had a fair bit of quite heavy rain overnight. You could tell that some of it got into the ground as we've been continuing our never ending battle with weeds and unfortunately having to take out some shrubs that come to the end of their span.

We had a lovely Hebe that has gone all woody so that it going to have to come out but we'll replace it with another as I like Hebes. Too much St.Johns Wort for our liking. Also done some trimming back of next doors Chestnut tree that is overhanging our garden. Thrown the cuttings back but doubt he will even notice. We get quite a bit of bramble as well from the wood at the back. Had enough for the day.

Must try to get some places booked for September. Cheer myself up.smile

Bakers, I'm not really surprised. I have tried to access several threads in the last 10 minutes only to meet with "Server Error" time and again. Even the "Server Error Thread " was inaccessible. How's that for irony?

Giving up on the forum until later in the day. Got better things to waste my time on.

Here we go again our third heatwave this summer although it should only for 3 to 4 days and could be 40C on Tuesday so back to being behind closed shutters and inside chores.

Our friends went back yesterday after 3 nights here and my OH has been busy sorting out techie issues with their new to them motorhome the main one that the bonnet lid would not close properly it was on safety catch only anyway all sorted a design issue and looks better with it properly closed, they have found that with a big front screen in this heat it gets very hot inside when parked as we do not have much shade even with the blinds shut, they have a busy eight days with the B&B from tomorrow so that will quite tiring in this heat and some folks are walking the chemin, just too hot for us to do that even with some shade and folks will arrive early well before 4pm arrival time.

Got to get ready for a boot sale in two weeks and hope for cooler weather but taking the umbrella and stand with us, another very early start at least OH will not be driving as our friends will be and their trailer full of stuff plus our few bits and pieces.

Stay cool folks and send some of that UK rain here please.

Driest July here since records started so hope August will not be the same.

Can anyone identify what is between the 2 red cars please?

We went to NenePark this morning and after walking over the Sahara desert that might once have been grass we came across this 😱

There was also a few moments when there was some damp stuff coming downwards. Any ideas anyone?

Only 6 miles from home but luckily it didn't happen at home!

Returned home today after 5 days away. Dockray Meadow for 3 days and a CL for 2. Nice to get away and chill.

Weather was mixed but it didn't bother us. Had a lovely pitch on DM right next to the babbling Brook. Site about 2 thirds full on arrival then half full the next day, by the time we left on Friday morning it was only half full. There are a lot of seasonal pitches on site so it probably fills up at weekends.

CL was OK but to much road noise for my liking and the grass needed cut, after rain it was wet feet and shoes.

    Didn't the Lionesses do well.

First load of washing done and hung out.

Home, after almost 3 weeks away. Lost two courgette plants, sweet peas and some bedding plants in containers, due to the heat but most still looking ok. Never happened before but we may have also lost a couple of our many astibes that have been growing in the garden for many years. All unpacked now and two loads of washing on the line. Glad that we weren’t travelling the other way, the M5 going north was just one long queue from Taunton to Tewksbury, people travelling home I expect, made worse in the school hols.

We had rain on Saturday night!! Not a huge amount but enough that our water butt is now nearly full and our garden has perked up a bit. We also had a brief shower on Sunday morning.  It is nowhere near enough but we have to be grateful for small mercies.

What a great match yesterday from the ladies. OH was beside himself with excitement. Such an achievement for them in so many ways.
