Francis you won't be disappointed with a stay near Richmond - jealous? Moi?
Car was saying 29 when I took dog to the groomers. The clouds did clear and some humidity went. We've had very warm nights but it doesn't feel as bad as in our last house. Except last couple of nights when my body ran a temperature. Still very achy and very sore throat but ibuprofen keeping it reasonable.
Monday I knocked a whole mug of tea over the side of our cream sofa and the lounge cream carpet. I treated both the same and no sign of it on the sofa - different story on the carpet, even tried the steam cleaner on it. Of all the carpets in the house only the lounge and hall stairs and landing, they match, have been considered worth retaining..... Got a specialist cleaner coming tomorrow 🤞
I'm loving sitting in the lounge and watching the bats, stops the bites 😉
Just had a look at hoses and reels thanks Wherenext long time since we've bought one so rather surprised 😱 at current prices, naturally we'll need the longest!
Edit I'm sorry for earlier duplicate post, this site....... Recent posts have appeared immediately and as it seems extra slow tonight I feared I may not have pressed reply hard enough, it often happens!

I got one of those for the New Forest Centenary site, £155.40 for three days!!! I didn't think it that brilliant a site anyway when we last stayed there and over £50 night has just confirmed that!!! Perhaps the bottom has fallen out of the touring bubble? I have had several of these emails recently but never recall getting them in the past. Funny how they can send out emails promoting sites but can't send out emails reminding people of the new arrival time.

Francis it has been a few years since we stayed at Hargill House but we found it a lovely fairly small site with lovely views. I endorse everthing that TDA says about places to visit. Richmond is a lovely town and so is Reeth further up Swaledale. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England is well worth a visit. If you are interested in trains Shildon Railway Museum is also a good day out. It is slightly further afield, between Darlington and Bishop Auckland. I gather the Bishops Palace at Bishop Auckland now open to the public.

Oh goodness TDA what a week you have had. I send my very best wishes and hope things improve for you all soon

OH Tda they say things happen in threes, so a speedy recovery from us and take care.
Just wish we could have some of the UK rain and a another hot day 40C on forecast so some watering done early and out for a bit more shopping as Carrefour still not got granny smith apples which OH likes with his breakfast so will go the other way today and also have to go to the post office to post a small parcel to UK just see what paperwork they need for that.
We popped over to see friends who have come back from UK now moved rest of stuff from rented house over there and now sorting it out as she is already established here and working part time but he taken early retirement from Chinook simulator training he had enough of the new bosses so now here full time and now got to sort everything out for him hence OH and his computer skills in use ready to book an interview with local prefecture in Cahors along with a mountain of paperwork in English and French he has already got a 6 month visa but has to get residency paperwork going before 3 months are up so a few busy months ahead glad all ours are done.
Take care folks and those away enjoy your breaks we are looking forward to ours next month.

Well I'd like some too and we live in the UK 🤣🤣. We haven't had anything except odd mist like for moments.... when I posted photos of what I believe are called puddles and we had to stand under the canopy of a tree for less than 5 minutes while some moisture moved through we were about 6 miles from home. Luckily we have no hosepipe ban and the water company says it'll be unlikely but use water sensibly. I use the hosepipe for all our pots with 'moved' plants which are situated I groups around the front back and side gardens.
I was astonished at comments, made by members of the public, in regions where a ban is coming in about water use. I think our hobby concentrates the mind on use of all resources!
Looks like it's going to be another warm one - as much as I'd love some moisture let's hope it waits until the last of the harvest is in. Then some to allow autumn sowing will be very welcome I'm sure. Enjoy your day folks

Perhaps I shouldn't complain that we don't get emails from the club!?
Although we did get just one I now can't remember the details.Do hope things improve for the TDAs, best wishes to you all. Hope your OH is starting to feel better.
Well after a brief glimpse of rain and a slightly cooler night the forecast is on the up. We are off to an £11 THS soon looks like we'll be back to 30C but at least we're right on the coast.
Not so easy to move to France now Redkite. Our friends moved back from the Limousin but kept a small dilapidated place to do up for the family and have not been able to spend as much time visiting and renovating as hoped. Either way things have certainly changed.
Hope you find the right hosepipe and reel B2 we have an extra long one which is very useful, quite old so not worth recommending.

Now now Brue, there is nothing wrong in recommending old things, some of us are quite useful
.Hoping that everybody swiftly recovers from aches, pains, mysterious sore throats, as well as long term problems stopping them from getting out and about and enjoying this " Green and Pleasant Land " to the full
even if its none too green where you are !!2 -
At last - the forecast is looking good and we we may get a few days without rain. We have some fields to get for silage and until today there's been some rain every day.
Yesterday we had our annual Soil Association Inspection. We've been organic for 16 years, and the inspection day use to loom large in things that stressed me out. But we're much more relaxed about it now. The stock and buildings are as good as they can be (better in fact), and if we have the correct paperwork at hand, and presented in the correct way it goes smoothly.

Hope your Soil Inspection was passed A O K , Goldie -- do they count "Worms per cubic foot" at all ??

Was due up Cark Airfield way for a Steam weekend but chose to give it a miss due to chaos on the M6 { Lorry Fire } and a definitely dodgy forecast. So decided to follow more and more sports n telebox -- very energetic it was too, popping back to the fridge at advert time

P.S. / Edit :--- Hope your C E O {

}is not suffering too much while waiting for his hip operation !!0 -
It's not so much the soil they look at. In fact I have never seen an inspector look at the soil. Though soil is very much an "in thing" at the moment.
OH/CEO is struggling, but with coming in the house for a pill and a sit down mid mroning and afternoon, is coping. Since the "good" news about a referrall to a private hospital it has all gone quiet. The housekeeper/farm secretary/brow smoother is getting used to coping with interruptions to her routine.
Baking awaits. Fancy Flapjacks requested.

RK I was reading the other about how France is making it or going to make it more difficult to get a Carte de Sejour by getting applicants to pass French language tests. Have they started this yet or is there a date for it?
Another hour first thing in the garden, then we had a visit from a man about our television options, then as he was early and dealt with us quickly I took the ladies Knicker buying to M&S in the Outlet village. In the words of MiL "That's about all M&S is good for these days" Then again she was in a grumpy mood this morning. I managed to occupy my time buying food - "About all M&S is good for these days" I muttered to myself, grumpily.
Feel sorry for the Postman - He included a letter from SP Energy who look after the infrastructure around here and they have sent a letter to every address in 2 local towns about a cut to the supply in a fortnight time for 10 minutes. Poor man looked shattered and about 2 hours behind schedule. Gave him a bottle of water but think he might have been more overjoyed with something a bit stronger.

Yesterday we made yet another local foray, this time back to the gardens at NT Montacute House (and the cafe yard where the cheese scones are excellent!) We diverted off the usual route just to look at some different things and a view of what the Romans named Mons Acutis. It's a hill from which the village takes it's name. The Fosse Way runs through this area, the Romans got everywhere! There are small bits of the Fosse Way left (buried under tarmac) as the A303 diverted away from it, hence quite a few Roman villas and mosaics have been found round here.
I was looking at an old ch5 programme the other night about our Roman roads and it prompted a few travel thoughts.

Sitting in the car park in Ruthin while supporting staff do the shopping before another 30 minutes to our holiday cottage. Traffic down was really not good and I did an average speed of 40 mph on mostly motorways. Anyway it will be all worth it as the owner says the hot tub will be ready at 8.
Happy times everyone wherever you are.

I saw a very serious E~mail about Roads, brue
It pointed out that the Roman Roads were built by 'uneducated untrained' people and many such roads are still serviceable today. However many modern roads are designed, and also built, by Highly Educated Specialised Engineers !! That's probably why they have a life span of approximately 50 years max

Still not caught up with all the latest postings or to delight you all with our trip to date, but yesterday we started off and finished at the first of these places and had our picnic lunch at the second, and then today we visit the third. Have fun working out where we went and where we are staying.

The first one looks like the Bowes Museum?

Beautiful morning here with spectacular scenery. Hot tub in use last night.

1) Bowes Museum, we have really enjoyed a few visits there. 3) Raby Castle? Always been closed whenever we were in the area. 2) Can’t get the ruins at all. Staying near Barnard Castle area? Looks a very good trip Nellie, enjoy.

We are home for a while as granddog is staying. At her house she sometimes sleeps in the bedroom, we have let her do that here before but decided she really should sleep downstairs. Our old dog was never allowed upstairs. So.. she whined til 11.30, got told off and finally stopped. But I couldn’t get to sleep til around 4.30 (not that unusual, but on those days I usually lie in a bit) 5.50 she started yelping, got told off, I went back to bed, couldn’t sleep worrying if she actually needed the loo, so got up at 6.10. So that’s it, about 1 and a half hours sleep! She’s been for a run, helped me clear some of the garden (not) and has been pushing her ball at me to kick for her when I stopped for coffee. She is a dear, so gentle and loving, a Springer, Cocker, Beagle cross, 5 now, with no sign of slowing down. Finally as I write this she has laid down, with her 🎾 ball right next to her nose. Must go, I’m going to wake her up!

Our teenage grandchildren and been and gone. It was lovely having them but my goodness I had forgotten how long teenagers can spend it bed
. Their beds have now been cleared and bedding washed, dried, ironed and put away. They have now gone on a camping trip with their parents and OH's car. They recently sold their nice roomy Mondeo and bought a smaller electric car. Hey presto they found that all their camping gear would not fit in it
. So OH reluctantly said they could borrow his Mitsubishi. He won't rest until it comes back unscathed next week. In the meantime we are driving around in my little old Clio which isn't his scene at all.Nellie, I think that is the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle and the ruins of Barnard Castle. I hope you are enjoying that part of the world.

Well Millie and Debsc it's family life! Do hope the car comes back safely Millie and the dog settles down and you get a better night's sleep Debsc. I had forgotten I had said we would have the visiting dogs this weekend so that daughter could go to the Wickham Festival where her partner has been working all week. So we've had to compromise and we have the dogs just for one night. The dogs are ok but our cat doesn't like the increased canine population, he could cope with two but not three. So we have to watch carefully what is happening...🐕🐕🐕🐈
Apart from that it's just sunshine as usual and I hope the weather is being good to everyone. 🌞

Oh my goodness DEBSC! We are having our granddog staying with us the week after next for a couple of weeks, and you have really cheered me up 🤦🏻♀️. He’s a Cavachon (Cavalier King Charles spaniel and Bichon Frise cross) 18 months old and so, so energetic - more so than us these days! His usual walk is 2 or 3 miles, but with my dodgy other hip (the replaced one is good!) and OH bad knees and foot, I think there will be a lot of ball throwing going on here instead.

After having had 3 visitors since Tuesday, we are now down to one, and the washing machine is keeping busy while the sun shines.
We have had a busy few days, but a lot more restful than the week of tidying and cleaning, and the various muscles that we had forgotten we had are slowly recovering!
The younger visitors had a day in town, followed by everyone meeting at DD's for dinner. The next day we had several hours at our son's house, and a very nice buffet lunch, and for their last day we had a drive out along the Clyde, over the hills to Loch Lomond where we had a picnic lunch, then a tour and tasting at the whisky distillery on the way home.
Today they are taking a bus to Manchester to see a match tomorrow, then on to London on Monday for a couple of days.

Our friends have a Cavachon, lovely little thing. Quiet as can be, when she comes to ours she just sits there. Although her owners are older, no kids, they say she is the ‘product’ of two older parents, and if she had been brought up with kids she might be different. She just looks at a ball with total distain, barely ever seen her run.
Three dogs brue! If I had to look after three of these I would leave home! Our old cat couldn’t cope with all the manic ness and used to disappear, sadly she’s no longer with us.

A great afternoon in this great place.

Definitely Bowes Museum and Raby. Barnard Castle I think for the ruins. Hope the new van is performing well, and you are getting used to it.

Yes, Bowes Museum and Raby Castle. The middle one is Egglestone Abbey, which makes a good destination for a circular walk from the free car park at the rear of the museum, along the Teesdale Way.
We are staying in a grand, new CL just 3 miles outside of Bernard Castle, Viewforth Meadow. Today we did a circular waymarked walk from the Blackling Hole Car Park in Hamsterley Forest.
A Bow Bridge near the Abbey, especially for WN, and the waterfall at Blickling Hole
