An easy drive of just  about 35 mls today to our latest  site, a CC one at that!surprised Don't  like these 1:00 arrivals as we has to stop en route  to ensure we weren't early. Pleasant walk around the adjacent playland after lunch. Site is about 1/4 full, although in our pitching area all pitches are taken!

Yesterday  we had a couple of walks around the country park, instead  of using the car. Spotted this lovely caravan  close to the site entrance. It is obvious which TV series the owner of it likes.

David,  I feel for Nazanin Zaghari-ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori  and why they were detained but at least they have now been released.

Sadly it seems that Morad Tahbaz was only allowed a short sniff of freedom, he was, apparently, returned to prison a short while later.

Temperature was 101F earlier today but has dropped back to a bit over 99F now. Feel pretty rubbish. Thinking about using the waste hose from the van for my dripping nose. OH has gone into full 'nursie' mode.

I'm surprised that the P&O crews didn't take the ships out to sea and use them as a bargaining chip given the way they've been treated.

CY. You sound like my sister and BIL who both have Covid . They started off feeling not too bad but now not so good when I phoned yesterday. BIL has asthma, has had the four jabs and had to ring the respitory clinic, who were inundated and also cross that mask wearing has been virtually abandoned. Take care out there and get well soon.

We got home safe after a good run up A1 to Newark. We chose Southall, mainly because it’s closer to home via this route, and Lincoln is so huge, I would have been hours poking around in there. We had a nice lunch in the town itself, lovely little cafe, sat outside, then had a good look around. We have been before, but a while ago, and this time managed to see inside the Palace and the newish Gardens. From there, a pretty ride home, stopping off in Clumber Park for a last cuppa and dog walk.

Hope those feeling ill pick up soon. Goldie, I like a bright waistcoat, usually pinch my OH’s collection of showing ones👍 That’s a cracking caravan Nellie, was it on the Site? Glad you escaped the frightening incident M, we had a car aquaplane in front of us on M5 once, scary😱

Good plan on the Tesco car park WN, we used to have a stop over in the one at Stow on our way to SW if we could get a drive through spot.

Glorious here this morning, garden is calling. But it will have to wait, I am on Mum duty today.

Glad you got to Southwell TDA. I remember the wood carvings there from a visit years ago too. Sounds like a pleasant leisurely route home.

WN the alternative travel route sounds like a bind but I expect many will be doing the same.

Lovely blue skies but cold winds here, at least we're missing the strong coastal winds. smile

Lovely sunny day here today I think spring has finally arrived here on the Ayrshire coast. We had a wonderful night last night it was youngest sons 30th birthday and his partner had organised a surprise party at their house for him last night which went well we even managed to sit outside until around 9 due to the mild weather didn’t get home until after 3 so a slow start to the day for us today. Think we are going to do a drive along the coast in the day van. Away in the caravan next weekend hopefully.

Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

    CY

You are obviously ill in old moneysmile Way back at the start of COVID I invested (wasted!) in several thermometers, but the best one was the one you hold a couple of millimeters from your forehead.

My youngest sons partner and her daughter both have COVID and he is on tender hooks to see if he gets it. With the start of the Grand Prix season its not the best time to be off ill!!!

Brue, yes the extra travel is a bind. Mrs WN, bless her cotton socks, is trying very hard to get me to cut down on any undue or unnecessary long days towing the caravan around. Harwich is a good 5-6 hours journey plus a stop for lunch, so I'll have to arrange a stop for about half of that plus a night stop in Harwich. Then do it all in reverse coming home. Whereas getting to a night ferry in Hull means a 2½ trip if the going is good, straight on the ferry, sleep, then straight off at the other end and in 2 hours I'll be on a campsite. Nobody forced me to change the booking though so on my own head be it.

A lovely sunny day, if you are out of the wind, but Mrs WN happy as 3 lots of washing done and dried. I somehow decided to clean both the cooker in the house and the one in the caravan. The car and caravan clean can wait until this week as they are amazingly clean considering.

TTda, glad to see you had a good mini break. We keep meaning to get to Southwell but never seem to be in the area. One day...

No David it wasn't, according to the Club, mainly because there was 2 operators involved. The one good thing for us was the cheapness of the fare for the Harwich crossing so I actually got some money back but this is a day crossing. Nevertheless the operator did say the overnight one was about £200 more which is still cheaper than the Hull crossing. We were going Hull knowing it was costing more but far more convenient and at the moment convenience wins out if possible.

I've managed to book 2 CLs for us for the outward trip but will leave the return for a while to see what we want to do on the way home. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I know you are planning to go at a busier time than we are and this may impact your decision.

Beautiful day here again, more clear blue skies 😀. Went out with the dog wearing my body warmer as have the last few days. Turned a corner and thought ohhhhh forgot the weather lady said stronger cooler easterly wind. Had to keep moving.

Upside - it dried 2 loads of washing and the actual duvet went out for a good freshen up.

My cousin came up from the South Coast to sort her parents grave, not been able to for a couple of years. So met her for brunch, very nice too! Then back here for more nattering tea and cake 😀. She met the dog and admired our 'heaps, boxes and stashes' 🤣. She moved last year so was interested and has 'fresh' hints. For domestic reasons she moved again within months and I admire her courage. I can see a much happier person re-emerging.

We had friends around yesterday afternoon too, nice to have a few hours laughing and chatting, sad that these will be the last with these folks in this house 🥲. I hope they'll keep their promises to visit when we've moved.

Milliehull is the exhibition still at the cathedral? I can't remember the name if it! Created in lockdown? Which days are you on duty? Well be up for a few days at the end of the week and I might be able to squeeze in a visit 🤞. I have a sneaky suspicion the exhibition won't be on as I sort of thought about timing when you initially posted.

Will you lose your deposit? If you cancel more than 59 days before sailing the refund is something like 75% but that might be off the full amount, which unfortunately we have paid as we are nearer to going. Mind you your deposit may have been 25%. I can't recall mine off the top of my head.

I assume you've checked your T&Cs but no harm me mentioning this just in case.

Stena's cancellation is only about £3 per leg up to 24 hours before sailing or so I was informed. I must check as the confirmation has now arrived in my emails.

Beautiful day today bright blue skies and sunshine, and felt warn out of the wind.  Bedding washed and out on the line this morning while OH was checking brakes on a neighbours car.

This afternoon we had the first " street meet" of the year, introduced our new next door Neighbours to the others in our street,  also discovered that he has just completed a PHD in dentistry and his wife is a dental hygienist, could prove useful 🤣🤣 Managed a few hours outside before it got a bit chilly.

Dentists are like gold dust round here Helen, sounds like perfect neighbours. wink

DK, F1 is blasting out in the background just now, hope your son avoids Covid. We've just found out that five adjoining households near us have all got Covid. I'm glad I missed our village panto (thanks to my cold bug) it looks like it was a super spreader evening...and that's apart from our new neighbours who also have Covid after a trip abroad. frown

Good to hear you had a nice meet up with your cousin and friends B2. I'm sure they'll be seeing you in your new abode too.

It was our wedding anniversary today. It was just a small wedding with both sets of parents and our two little daughters, one each from first marriages, as bridesmaids. Our thoughts turn back to our Mums and Dads who had helped us through some tough times before we met each other. The younger one of our bridesmaids nearly demolished the large floral display on top of a high wooden stand at the wedding venue, my Mum just rescued things in time, it was a memorable day with unexpected distractions! smile

That peg would go quite well in our rocky garden and enjoy Shropshire, used to live not far from Cleobury Mortimer  many years ago as WN said it is a lovely county.

Plenty of warm sunshine here and washing all done was going to do some gardening but went to get some more plants and also a car wash for my car to get rid of the sand  from the Sahara OH to do his car and then the caravan sometime in the week.

Best wishes brue to you both.

Happy bubbly to the Brues'. We were sort of blighted on our day as well Brue. It was a registrar wedding and because of family problems we only had 5 guests. My best man and his driver had to leave after the dinner as did Mrs WNs parents and we settled into our hotel expecting about 20 friends from work but they couldn't get there. There was a sudden blizzard that closed all of the roads. The hotel was quite high up above Manchester. So we were stuck, just the 2 of us.

Good job we remembered the Scrabble board eh??winklaughing

bakers2 No sadly the 'Made in Lockdown' exhibition has finished. They are gearing up for the Dinosaur exhibition in the summer. I am usually on Welcomer duty on Tuesday mornings 10.00 - 1.00. If you do come you won't miss me as I am the female Welcomer 🤣 Sounds like you have had a sociable few days.

Beautiful weather weather today. I did a ground floor tour this morning and it was a joy to take my group outside to tell them about the West Front in the sunshine. They were a lovely group. Very appreciative and engaged. I planted some seeds and did the general tidying up in the garden this afternoon.

Sorry to hear of so many people ill with covid. I hope all those affected get better soon. We are going to a big funeral on Friday so I am a bit concerned.

Happy anniversary to the brues. Hope you felt well enough to celebrate brue.

We have looked at houses and not keen at all on any of them for a variety of reasons. Then, out of the blue, two popped up. One we really love, I was determined not to like a house too much as so many hurdles to jump before it can be yours. Right place which is the most important, right house, but huge price. More than our initial budget limit, we nearly didn’t view because of its price. So we reviewed the finances and can just about do it but can’t put much of our stamp on it, if we get it. Other property nice but needs a lot doing and the garden needs so much work. Not sure I still have it in me. So now waiting what seems like forever, for people to get back to us. Fed up with the ‘bidding contests’ that seem to be the norm around here now, all getting a bit much. Then I read the news and looked around me, we have a nice home, when others are having theirs bombed and running for their lives. I gave myself a good talking to and feeling very guilty now about my moment of fedup ness. The normal news always makes me so glad of what we have, lovely family, and each other, let alone the dreadful things happening now.   Beautiful day so off out to do some gardening. Teenage grandchildren stopping so might try to get them to venture outside the door,  Without their phones.
