" Got my shorts on for the first time this year "

With a wimpish attitude like that, Nellie,  I don't think you would get a job on the Post Office Delivery Team, not even in the Christmas rush   Honest   surprised

I would love another cat around the house as well. But we have no one to look after it given how often we are away, and would hate to leave one in a cattery (I know…..it’s just me)

I keep looking at pups as well. Irish Terrier, Airedale, Fox Red Lab🤔🦮

Summer evenings began here yesterday. Straight after milking we opened up the Summer House and raised a glass to whatever the future may hold. It was 16 degrees (with the door shut) so bearable for half an hour or so, until the sun went down.

Glorious day here today - been busy tidying up around the pond - lifted all the baskets containing the marginal plants out of the water and weeded them - all 12 of them! Yesterday, I put some edging strip between the lawn and the pond pavers, to neaten the edge - looking much smarter now. Back breaking work, though, so I'm suffering a bit now.

I think I feel a BBQ coming on if it stays like thiscool

Have you got your problem sorted Nellie? A blown fuse perhaps?

Another busy day. We were sort of grounded as MiL was having a new chair for herself and 2 others for the front room delivered this morning so we had to hang around. I had to have bloods taken this morning but after that I decided to wash the tow car. So that's all 3 done, 2 cars and a caravan. Time to get them dirty again.

Passed a popular filling station this afternoon and noticed the price hasn't changed since yesterday. No reduction yet.

Apologies to all, I've read your posts but my phone is a bit limited just now.

We've been lucky with our short break in Devon although it's warmer inland back at home.

Had a very pleasant visit to Agatha Christie's home at Greenway during our stay. Reached via four ferry and two bus journeys, Dartmouth was the quietest I've seen it for many years. No doubt it will be packed soon!

Looks like you are having a nice time Brue. We are due down that way for 3 weeks in the summer looking forward to it. Are you at Hillhead? How’s the site looking

Richard - We had a BBQ on Sunday afternoon our first of the season

Just switched to my lap top ...Francis, yes we were at Hillhead, the chainsaws have been at work and nearly all the conifers have gone, so it looks a bit bare in places. Also the hedges have been removed between the pitches on the left after the play area (the ones with the nice sea views.) Post and rail fences with replacement beech hedging are now in place which will eventually grow but it's all looking a bit exposed! However we've had a nice break and I'll put a review on later. The restaurant and drinks system are a bit different but at least they're serving Devon fish with the chips and OH enjoyed a Devon Pride beer, a new one to him. We've been frequent visitors over the years and it's still a good site so hope you have a good time too. smile

Trip to the dentist this morning for a check up, confirmed that I had indeed  lost part of a filling, so another appointment had to be booked, earliest date mid May! surprised  Afterwards treated ourselves to coffee at the local farm shop cafe, sitting outside in the sunshine  🌞 couldn't believe how warm it was.

Nice quiet afternoon at work too.

Goad you enjoyed your break Brue, and congratulations to your grand daughter DEBSC.

Day out in Derbyshire Peaks for me today, with Mum and Sis. Such a lovely day we set off early and had a picnic, then into Bakewell to my SisIL to drop off her new earrings. Didn’t stay, she wasn’t there, down South on Childcare duties. Bakewell was heaving, so we didn’t stop, but went to Monsal Dale Station Cafe for a coffee. Home around 5pm, cut lawn, potted up a few plants, then off for a swim. Tired now, but a nice day. Checked forecast for next week, possibility of snow, and dropping very cold again, so we might defer out next trip away. Got lots to do at home at the moment.

Apologies for not keeping up with folks, it’s still all I can do here to get this website to open up. Nellie, hope you get sorted👍

Recovering steadily from great exertions today ! Fed them greedy tweets, dined, rested then went for my Spring Covid-19 Booster before returning to the homestead, only to discover the bird feeders were empty, again !!

Still don't understand why they call it a Covid Booster Jab though -- surely boosting covid is the Last thing they want the jab to do  undecidedsealed

Dartmouth - our favourite place! Been going there for years and it's a special place to me because I was at BRNC in 1968 (a lifetime ago!).  We are due there in June and we stay at the C&CC site at Stoke Fleming.  Bus stop outside means we can avoid the horrors of trying to find somewhere to park in the town.

Just a bit apprehensive this time, because it will be the first time with an 8' wide van and I know only too well how narrow the approach road into Dartmouth is, in places.

Francis - you beat me to it, then!  BBQ was a success even if it did get a bit chilly later on.

Thanks for the update Brue. We are hoping to get one of those pitches past the play park we have been visiting Hillhead for 13 years and never been able to get one. Shame about the trees all gone hopefully they will have grown in a bit by the time we go this year. We love the clubhouse on site usually drink Doombar though our tradition is to have dinner in the clubhouse the first night we arrive after our long drive. Looking forward to it this year as we haven’t been down that way for 5 years now.

Glad you enjoyed your BBQ Richard

    Good morning everyone.

Well that was a surprise I got on at the first time of trying.

Arrived home last night after 3 weeks in Lanzarote. House a bit chilly but fine now with the heating on and the sun streaming in through the windows.

Had lovely long sleep in this morning.

Now back to reality, off shopping soon.

Busy weekend ahead with gardening, washing and getting things ready for the new windows getting fitted on Monday.

Will try to catch up with everyone's news now I have finally managed to get logged on here.

Have a good weekend one and all.

Caravan had it's service this morning; other than need to replace break shoes (they were 13 yrs old) no problems and importantly no damp.  So that's us ready for the season and our trip to Italy for 6 weeks in Maycool.  Beautiful day so pottering around in garden for the rest of the day.

My plans for a gentle potter in the garden this afternoon were shattered was I was informed that I had to go shoppingcry.  However, noted that the price of diesel in our local supermarket was £1.71 but in the Esso garage, which is on my route, was £1.69 from which I would deduct £0.04 discount with the Esso Card via the Club making it £1.65 a ltr!

R&R, the Britannia College looked wonderful in the sunshine from the KIngswear side. Whilst in Brixham we noticed lots of youngsters doing "seafaring things" some where out on the harbour water and others where climbing mast like ropes and swinging through the air in a yard adjoining the harbour. An information board alongside informed that the building was formerly the British Seaman's Orphan Boys Home see this LINK (my own Grandfather ran off to join the navy aged 13.) A few looked a bit grumpy.....the crystal clear blue water must have been very cold!

Hope you enjoy your weekend Francis.

Nice to be home TG, lighter days on the way.

Hope you can have your break soon TDA although April is always a bit fickle at the start!

Did you get the van heating to work Nellie, hope you can fix it.

Was the shopping as expensive as the fuel Commeyras?! wink

Well a complete reversal of past times. I was working today so Mrs C brought the caravan across this morning and set it up while we arrived late this afternoon. I actually quite like this arrangement. The site is half full on the standard pitches but quite full on the SP. A good is forecast tomorrow so we'll be bound for the tops.

Enjoy your walk tomorrow CS. Where are you headed for?

Had a smashing day today. We put the bikes on the car and drove to Prestatyn and cycled along the coastal cycle path to Colwyn Bay and back. They've improved the cycle route since we were last here hence no on road work today. About 22 miles. No electric needed, apart from 1 small very steep bit) as its flat(ish). Great weather and not too many people, but everyone in a good mood whether walking, cycling, throwing a ball for their dog or making sandcastles with little'uns.

    An easy tea tonight.

Welcome home TG. You've missed nowt of importance.

Hope all have a pleasant weekend.

Have you got your problem sorted Nellie? A blown fuse perhaps?

Sorry about not replying yesterday WN, but got a bit carried away on another post or two.

It was not a fuse, as I checked them, so I emailed the company at 20:00 last night and received a reply by 8:45 this morning.....now that's service for you!!

They suggested that it was a burnt-out isolation switch, and a replacement could be obtained from Prima Leisure, Bailey's spares dept. However I gave the offending switch a couple of tries and be good luck the power supply was restored, so we again have the system working fully.laughingwill, of course, get it checked out when we get home. Fingers crossed that it stays working.

Sounds like a grand day out all round, tda.

As you can see above we're up and heating at the moment. Long may it continue.

Welcome home TG, back just in time for the next fall of snow!!surprised

Francis or Kjell, we are on a CL near Cumbernauld at the moment and are heading down to the CC's Ayr site on Monday. I know which route I think is best but would appreciate it if you could suggest the route you would take. Thanks in anticipation.

That’s good news Nellie👍 Good ride out for the WN’s👍

Gorgeous weather here today, both of us in shorts. Supposed to be a bit of a day off, but we took garden refuse bags to tip, then a pooch stock up at PetsatHome. Lovely lunch outside in garden, OH decided to have a tinker with MG after finding a loose wire on starter motor, while I thought I would tackle our small pond. Four grubby hours later, I had it sorted, some day off🤣 Forecast is good for tomorrow, but I think the temps are due to plummet next week, and I saw the snow icon on my phone🥶 All my poor little plants, happily unaware of impending doom☹️

Hope those away have a nice time👍

The route I would recommend Nellie would be M80, M8 then M77 from the M77 you are only about a mile and a half from Craigie Gardens just go past the race course and then left at the traffic lights the site is signposted from their. The roads listed above are great for towing we use them all in a regular basis and never have an issue the M8 through Glasgow can be busy in the mornings and again in the late afternoon but if your using it late morning/early afternoon on Monday you should be fine

    Enjoy your stay at Craigie

Thanks all for the welcome home comments.

Nellie I had better get cracking tomorrow on the garden if we are to get snow again surprised good to hear you've got heat again.

Was due to get new windows put in on Monday but that might not happen now as the team has come down with Covid today. They are trying to sort something out but can't promise at this point if it will go ahead.

WN that sounds like a nice ride, haven't been on our bikes yet this year.

    Francis, have a good weekend.
