Beautiful clear views on your walk Corners, the weather is on your side!

After our short break in Devon we've been outside sorting the garden and greenhouse. Lots more seeds going into trays. Got to grow a lot to fill up gaps if we're part of the open gardens in June and also we have a village plant sale in May, it's good to see these events finally getting going again. Fingers crossed for good weather further down the line.

Hope you enjoy your trip David and the new ship!

WN the cycle ride sounded good. I know Colwyn Bay quite well but haven't been there for years.

Another sunny, warm day, the last one if the forecast is correct. undecided

OH got the MG out of the garage he had finished a couple of running repairs so we took it on  a trip to the local farmers market,  they have an excellent plant stall so we came home with some plants for the garden.

Had tea and cake with a few of the neighbours this afternoon, catching up with all the news and gossip  😄

Also Had a delivery of some lovely flowers for mother's day. 🙂

Glad you got the heating working again Nellie.

Hope all away enjoy their trips.

Yes, in towards Glasgow then follow the signs for Kilmarnock, and then Ayr, pretty straightforward.

We are just north of Glasgow and would, from here, head through the Clyde Tunnel then pick up the road towards Kilmarnock.  We would use local roads, rather than the M way, but you will be coming through town so should use the M8 then the M77.

Our son lives a little north east of Kilmarnock, in Waterside, just off the A77, from here in Bearsden it takes about 45 minutes.

OH grew up in Prestwick,  and her parents had a camping shop in Ayr back in  the 70s, so it is an area we are very familiar with.

The Ayr site is IMO a little "tired", water pressure in disabled facilities was so poor a couple of years back that OH had to use our own facilities instead.  Reported it to wardens, but they seemed  not to have had anyone else complaining.

Thanks for the kind word re our heating, one and all.

Had all sorts of problems  yesterday trying to post on here using my phone, lost 2 attempts at this post!!yell Third time lucky I hope. WN your cycle out sounded  great,  glad you both had a good day. Tda you have had a couple of busy days, so perhaps  today was a rest day?

We have had 3 glorious  days on the trot, with lots of varied walks. Two along by the Forth and Clyde Canal, a shore walk by Carron Valley Reservoir, a short trot up on the Campsies  a forest walk where we saw loads of frogs and frogspawn, and one up to The Antonine Wall and onto Croy Roman Fort. Met this handsome fellow  up by the wall.

Francis and Kjell, thanks for your suggestions. The route I was going to take was onto the M73 at junction 4/3 (5 mins from the CL), onto the M74 at junction 1/4, and then off at junction 5 onto the A725, through East Kilbride, then the A726 to the M77 at junction 5 and finally the A77 to Ayr. However I now think that I will follow the motorway all the way as suggested by Francis.

The photo taken on the Antonine wall Nellie? Or is it your new sunhat? Impressive.laughing

Had a morning of sorting out the water in the caravan. Decided it needed purifying and the waste water tank needed a good "Miltoning" as well. As it was a lovely morning nearly all of the neighbours stopped by for a chat, so we now have a fully functioning idea of the latest goings on, or a cobbled version of it at least!😂 Amazing how many varieties the "truth" has!

    We just nod and smile.

Had a long chat to my UK based brother. My niece will be off soon on a year long sabbatical to see the world. Good luck to her.

Glad folk seem to be out and about enjoying the weather.  We've just driven up to Chasewater, just off the A5.  Been on a train ride around the lake and then drove up to Abbots Bromley to visit High Ash Country Store and the lovely Cobwebs cafe, where they serve the best homemade cake ever.  High Ash Country Store is a tiny retail area in an old farm.  Includes the tea shop/cafe, a Gin Den, a Butcher's (which sells a variety of homemade products and chicken pies), an antiques shop, an homemade chocolate shop and a cheese and wine store.  Just my sort of shopping!!!  😀😀Couldn’t resist buying some pork pies and Snowdonia Cheese to take home (....hope ABM isn't reading... he'll be jealous!!)

Good to near your heating is sorted now nellie.  At our service the dealer reported that our Alde pump was not working, and after checking it I had to agree.  New pump ordered, came yesterday so fitted immediately and all now fine.  Second new pump in 14 years, so not too good!

Another lovely day here, DD and family came up here  late morning.   They have used the van a  couple of times now, but not done any cleaning, so OH "suggested" that they should at the  very least come and help me with cleaning the outside.  We did the inside yesterday.

OH was given  Nathan  to look after, DD, SIL and I worked on the outside, DD was doing the roof.  SIL is not really into this sort of thing, so soon gave up and disappeared up the garden with Callum. Callum then came down and said he needed to use the toilet, so I brought him inside, leaving DD alone outside.  SiL had apparently  got a phone call which meant he decided he needed to go home, unknown to me.

Next thing I heard was a crash and wailing, so rushed out to find that DD had somehow managed to fall off the top of the ladder!  Luckily the ladder did not damage the caravan!  She is not really sure what happened.

She fortunately had not broken any bones, but had multiple grazes and bruises.  OH bathed the wounds and patched her up, 6 different wounds to be dressed, only one was a bit of a cut, caused by the ladder.

Normally, if I am up the ladder, OH steadies it, so more than a little annoyed that SiL thought it fine to go off and leave his wife cleaning the roof with no ladder steadier.  She will be suffering for several days now, and  has holes in her new jeans.

    Sigh!!

Once she was patched up, we had lunch.  SiL returned, having had lunch somewhere.

You can take it that he is not "flavour of the month" right now!!

The photo taken on the Antonine wall Nellie? Or is it your new sunhat? Impressive.

Yes, adjacent the wall, although there's not much to see of that apart from the ditch, up above the F&C canal by Kilsyth where it starts to climb across Croy Hill. There are lots of forts marked on the OS map but nothing much to see at the actual locations.

You often hear the expression "proud Scots", but there are a couple of things they should not be proud of, unfortunately, and they are the state of many of their "B" and minor roads and the amount of litter scattered all over the place. yell We thought that Cambridgeshire was bad for litter but it's much worse up here. Fife was bad enough but around this area it's atrocious, especially with beer fans and empty glass bottles ( Buckfast and Eldorado tonic wine ones especially)

You are right there nellie, and it is not just the B roads!

Litter.....yes it is terrible......I just do not understand why people think it is fine just to drop stuff as they walk along, probably mainly teenagers/youths.

DD lives not far off a main road, where there is a secondary school a bit further along, the mess the kids leave is awful.  A house on the corner of her road even has carry out boxes of chips chucked up on top of their hedge.

Great to hear everyone enjoying the good weather.

I was out in the garden yesterday for 6 hours, felt good to out there sorting things. Doesn't feel so good today, knees a bit sore from the kneeling even though I used a knee pad.

Well it had to happen, we've both tested positive for Covid. Only been back 2 days so must have caught it in Lanzarote. Both OK just feels like a head cold. Did a test though as BIL is vulnerable, so will have to wait a bit before seeing them.

Can't think where we would have picked it up, very low numbers on the island and we didn't go anywhere without wearing a mask. Most of our time was spent in each others company either walking, in the car, in the apartment or by the pool. It's a mystery but hey ho at least we are home and not unwell.

Now to tackle the ironing frown

Tough luck Tammy. Probably caught it on the plane back or milling around the airports. Hope it treats you both mildly. You are the same as my cousin and her husband. Really careful these last 2 years and they finally succumbed to it 3 weeks ago. They are not seriously ill but still suffering with tiredness and headaches. Best wishes (oh and Happy Mothers Day!laughing).

Another lovely day, bit cooler with more of a bite tot he easterly wind. Had an early walk after remembering to alter the clocks. Mrs WN has her main job today as sorting out her mother's wardrobe for the few days we are away next week. It takes just a long as if she was going for a fortnight.smile

My job is to keep out of trouble but I'm afraid I've already blotted the copybook as well as a clean pair of trousers. I really have no idea how the melting butter got onto them from the toast.undecidedembarassed

Hope all mothers have the love and respect they deserve today.

Had a coffee with some neighbours this morning, all outside, I've been told by my recently Covid affected sister that I will get it in the end (I think she's feeling grumpy after continuous positive test for two weeks!) Sorry to hear the TGs have succumbed, hope you have a mild version.

A nasty fall for your daughter KJ, I hate van roofs, always feel nervous about anyone attempting to clean them.

Family coming for tea later, so a few jobs to do.

    🤣🤣🤣

Had a lovely bit of Pickle Power last night.  The chap at the cheese counter let me have a taste of some of the newer 'Rock Star'..... and, of course, I came away with a largish piece....  We'll worth a try, if you haven't tried it already.  A very strong/ tasty..... cheddar like cheese....  stronger than Black Bomber.... 😀

Daughter has gone away for a long weekend, taking her two youngest girls, eldest decided that she would rather stay with us, and because she didn’t want to miss college tomorrow. I’m more than happy with that as she is good company. Problem is we also have the granddog staying, she is lovely but very excitable, doesn’t travel well in the car as wont sit still. I can’t easily walk her as she pulls me over. Luckily we have a playing field next door to us so I can take her there for a game of ball. I’m now trying to resist her doleful look of ‘are we off for a game then’ while I finish my cuppa. I tried explaining that it’s Mothers Day and not to mither me but it hasn’t worked.

I don't think the litter problem is just in Scotland.  Locally, I think our worst litter spots are on motorways..... in our case the M42/A42.  It seems to collect in the bushes/ trees which are sometimes back from the hard shoulder.  I find it difficult to imagine that this is caused by folk throwing stuff out of vehicle windows..... I wonder if a windy day causes it to collect in certain places?

I think it is better than it used to be though.  A few years ago, recycling was a problem.  We used to have to use bags for recycling.  If it was a windy day, we'd end up with bags of rubbish blown all over the road, in people's gardens, in the canal,, in the river...... it was a nightmare!  At least we now have one large bin (with a lid) for all recycling.

We got back early afternoon from an excellent weekend away at Ayr Craigie club site weather was great both days cooked on the Cadac for the first time this year met up with an old work colleague for a couple of pints yesterday then relatives of ours who have a MH turned up last night and pitched next to us so a good night was had in our van catching up over a few drinks. Got home after an easy 35 min tow back and got the Volvo cleaned just cut the grass and we are about to cook on the BBQ again as it’s still nice here and we have an extra hour of daylight now. Nellie how long are you at Craigie for? I’m sure you will enjoy it the site is a bit dated now but the wardens do an excellent job of keeping it clean and in good shape it’s easy to get to and there are shops and take away etc near by. We are home now until Friday then away again just local again but nice to get away

    "Book with Confidencek"

I haven't added the K and seeing it everytime doesn't give me confidence. wink

It was indeed a nasty fall, she was lucky nothing was broken.  Her bruises today are pretty spectacular, and she is not feeling too good either.

She came off worst with Covid, bad headaches, cough, very tired, and was just getting over that when she got some stomach bug on Thursday, and still suffering.  Then yesterday Callum got it too, was sick 4 times, kept her up most of the night,  and now today Nathan has also been sick.   Having been with them all  today, yesterday, Wednesday and Thursday, we are just waiting our turn.

Glad to hear that you are home safely TG but so sorry to hear that you and your OH now have covid. I hope you are not too badly affected. Sorry also to hear of your family's illnesses KKellnN and hope you dont catch it. Wishing them all well.

I didnt have quite the Mothering Sunday that we had all planned. I spent quite a few hours in the Urgent Care centre at our local hospital as I have a urinary tract infection. The family did come round though after we got home. It was so lovely to see them in person after the last 2 years. I also got some lovely flowers from son in N. Ireland.

The funeral for our long standing friend went very well on Friday. It was very well attended with so many friends we hadnt seen in years. So many happy memories but also very emotional as we had all had such good times together years ago. Unfortunately we shant make it to the funeral of the son of one of our friends tomorrow.
