What are you all up to

Not been a good weekend for some, hope all are much better soon.
Nice to hear that people are managing to meet up with friends and relations. Hope that these visits don't result in further Covid cases.
Francis, I hope you encourage all those on site to leave early so that we have a good selection of pitches to choose from tomorrow. 😄

Thought I'd give CT a go this evening but found if I let it run in the background and looked for other things it might eventually work...which it has done after twenty or so minutes!

Hope you feel a lot better soon Millie but I expect you enjoyed seeing your family. We had a nice meal with ours tonight, seemed to spend most of the day in the kitchen but hey ho I'd rather see them here than not see them.
Enjoy the next part of your trip Nellie.
It's going to be a shock when the temperatures plummet but these few days of sunshine have been lovely. 🌞

Tested positive on 17th but two clear tests by 23rd. OH was trailing me by a few days and continues to test positive eight days later. I did a precautionary this morning as well just to be on the safe side as I had my deferred eye appointment later today but find I also tested positive, although the line was very faint.
This is all getting rather tedious.

I hope you and your OH are feeling better? It certainly seems like a fickle little blighter test wise!
Talking to a friend yesterday, who's a learning support assistant at a very large junior school, I was horrified to hear that she was cross because her Mothering Sunday visit to son had to be in the garden, it was misty and chilly, as her 5 year old grandson had tested positive for covid that morning on top of chicken pox. (Fun times in that house I expect with a 6 month old baby too 😱).
I learnt that at the school one, child is adult, is not expected to be absent for testing positive with covid unless you are very poorly. And then just 5 days 😱😱😱😱😱😱. No wonder it's spreading like wildfire, I'm sure it won't just be that school. Is it that we are still aiming for herd immunity by another route???
Meanwhile I'm seen in a mask regardless if I have to go inside anywhere and outside too if I feel the need. We certainly don't want it, OH needs to get 4th jab, so I'm looking into that but move is 2 weeks today so I'm limited in many ways.
Tammygirl I hope you and your OH have a mild case. Learnt our neighbours opposite have it and so if I saw them in the local estate they were picking the quietest areas for dog walking, to isolate, and not to be offended if they only waved. They also returned a dog harness, after asking, leaving it on the doorstep. I approached it with as much care etc as I could making OH open washing machine door, turning on the tap and applying liquid soap so I could wash thoroughly before I touched anything else. Can't be too careful as far as I'm concerned.... especially as move date just 2 weeks!
Good to read others news but getting on here is so hard I forget who was doing what, so better to be general than offend or muddle folk's situation up.

Another nice day today but I think it might be our last for awhile.
Been busy sorting out things to go back into the MH and Caravan. Why and how do things get lost when you know where you put them. I know I took the shelf out of the oven in the caravan and put it upstairs in the attic, in the box for the caravan things. OH knows it was there yet when we went to get it, its not there
we have looked everywhere for it but to no avail. Good job the one in the MH is the same size and fits the caravan oven. Had an email from out energy supplier to say that when our contract runs out at the end of April they are going to put us on to Flexible 7, which is their cheapest tariff for electricity only. According to them we only used 1,121 kWh of electricity last year, the rate they are quoting is to be 27.906 per kWh and 50.05p per day standing charge. How does that compare with what other have been quoted. We will do a shop around of course but trying to get a feel for what others are being quoted.
CY, sorry to hear you have had a set back with your testing. It does seem to affect people different. 2 of our teenage grandchildren have had it in the past 10 days, neither of them vaccinated, neither of them had any symptoms, both only took 4 days until they tested negative again.
We now think we may have caught it while on holiday but not sure as we didn't do any testing. Both thought we just had a bit of a cold (had much worse in the past) only did a test when we got home, as others were saying they knew people who thought they had a cold, did a test and it was positive.
As my BIL is in the vulnerable group we thought we should test before seeing him. If we were to count back to when we first started with a sore throat OH would be on day 12 today and me on day 9. Both still testing positive yesterday, if we take it from when we did our first test, today is only day 4 doesn't matter either way as we are not going anywhere.
Think we might go and give the caravan a wash

Just be careful when doing the roof!!!
Your prices sound quite similar to what we have been told, I think all the suppliers will be charging as much as allowed by this price cap thing.
We in "remote" areas are however being hit with the biggest standing charges as distribution is more expensive. Will see if I can find our exact prices, we are with "Outfox the Market"

Sorry to hear folks have some problems health wise. Hope things improve quickly🤞
Vets for us today, pooch is due his annual, boosters, weight check etc…..kerrching😱 Blithely unaware, mind he loves the vets.

Thanks Kj, yes very similar prices. Our standing charge has more than doubled and 11p more on the per kHh. It must be very worrying and hard for those who are on the bread line already.
Caravan all washed, looks much better. Haven't polished this time that can wait until the summer months. We will have to get up on top to the big Heki it needs a proper clean as there is sap spots.
Hope your daughter is feeling a little less sore today.

Taking MiL away for her birthday this coming Thursday.(Haven't told her yet we're not taking her back
).It'also her wedding anniversary today so we stopped at the place her husband's ashes are spread, namely Rivington Pike near Horwich. She was telling us about her wedding day. Church wedding, only 17 present as family and friends. Quick service. She said the priest had a football referee uniform on underneath his cassock as he was due to ref a game after the wedding.😁 No meal or "do" afterwards as they were still on food rations/coupons and within 30 minutes of their wedding they were on a train from their local station on honeymoon to Colwyn Bay. How times have really changed.
Had a lovely drive up to a beautiful cottage in Giggleswick, just outside Settle. The Wonky Cake cafe is recommended for a cuppa, good cakes and a lively owner in Settle itself.
Get well soon everyone. Don't blame you Bakers. We're still masking up. Very much a minority though.

Been to the hospital today for a blood test and a chat with the endocrinologist. My blood calcium is extremely high, so she has put me on some new pills to see if they help. Starting on 1 per day, but the dose can go as high as 12 per day 😧
There are however side effects, so not so good to take too many. If I do not respond to the low dose then I will be "fast tracked" for the op to remove at least 2 of my 4 parathyroids, otherwise there is a 12-18 month wait at present, due to Covid.
I will need regular blood tests to see how things are going.
Otherwise......another hot and sunny day here. Started loading up the caravan for DD and family going away on Saturday.
She is feeling a bit better having had some stomach bug, as well as her fall. The children have also had the bug, little Nathan seems to be recovering, but Callum is still having stomach pains and being sick. He was up and down all last night, so DD has only had about 2 hours of sleep.

We spent a couple of hours in Lyme Regis this morning, enjoying the last of the warmer weather. The sea was calm but the skies overcast. We watched a fishing boat having it's catch inspected and weighed. Mostly Brill and Spiny Ray in the catch. This prompted a visit to the nearby fish shop but they'd sold out of what I fancied which was a nice piece of Monkfish. The nearby restaurant was selling it for £24 as a meal.
Enjoy your break WN.
Hope the family feel better soon and your meds get sorted Kj.
Oh well sun or snow at least the days are getting longer!

Just booked our boosters for next month. Have to say a very smooth operation compared to the original booster. Back to the Open University for these.
Re electricity charges ours is going up to 27.6255p kwh and the standing charge is going up to 44.4780p which is almost doubled. I am not even sure why the standing charge has to change?

Thanks for the route both, it worked a dream. We arrived just after 1:00, as did three more behind us!! As you said, Francis, plenty of choice, we even got an end pitch. At least 12 units were coming in today, taking benefit of the MWD, and the fine weather. We had anticipated going to Culzean Castle but it's not open until 2nd April, too late for us unfortunately. Still plenty for us to do while we are here.

All this chat about covid, the wardens on site here at Ayr have it and are of course isolating. The club have called across a new trainee couple from Strathclyde to partner the site's assistant wardens.
Hope all that are affected are soon testing negative and can get back to something like normal.
Enjoy your time at Gigglewick, WN. Was your visit to Rivington to the memorial garden there? It's a lovely setting and makes a pleasant and interesting walk.
Tda, hope your visit to the vet wasn't too pricey, and that the pup behaved himself.
It has been another fine day here, and with a bit of luck tomorrow will be similar.

Partly Nellie. We did have a wander through it and had a good while sitting in the sun watching a Jack Russell trying to get to Australia via the most direct route. Plenty of people out and about around Rivington.
Hope you enjoy Ayr's hospitality and that the Alde heating keeps going.

Not had our 2nd booster yet and because of positive result will have to wait four weeks before we can do anything with that.
I know how you feel about missing van bits TG. Our curate and her husband had put their fridge shelves somewhere safe but couldn't find them despite searching high and low. It was about £130 IIRC for a new set just for a few bits of perspex!.
Can't seem to be able to get any LFT's anywhere. Gov't website says none available after you've put in all the details
. I'm starting to get towards the view that if I feel OK then stuff all this testing lark as that seems to be the new official position.0 -
Good job we are at our regular site and in easy 1hr from home, as today will be the second trip to take home things that are "not wanted on voyage" with the PVC that I just transferred to the trailer from the caravan ,and now find just take up space needed for essentials

Grey day today such a change from the last nine days

According to the report I saw on the news yesterday the standing charge varies around the country the more rural you are the more you pay ( no surprise Scotland has the highest charge) they say the charge is for the up grading of the pylons and the renewable energy development.
Its not long ago we that we never paid a standing charge at all, now paying 50.05p a day over a year that's one heck of an addition to our bill, almost as much as we previously paid for a years electricity. The company we are with estimates our bill for next year around £495, £180 of that is for the standing charge. We already have solar panels which have now paid for themselves in Fits payments, so in future the Fits will cover the LPG and the Electric bills if the LPG doesn't double.

Its a dull cold day here today so the heating is back on low, last few days its been off.
WN, have a nice break away with MIL and OH.
My OH tested negative today
I was still positive
think I am a few days behind him. He had an upsetting phone call yesterday from the care home his Mother is in, they informed him she is not doing well so the Dr was called in. The Dr says she at end of life, she is 92 and suffers from Parkinson's and Dementia, her kidneys are failing, she's sleeps all the time and they are having trouble getting her to take meds or food and drink. They offered to move her to a hospital but OH and his SIL said no, she is happy where she is and gets good care as long as the home are happy for her to stay, which they are. So todays negative test for him was good just need another one tomorrow then he can go and see her before its to late. CY, I think lots of folk are just getting on with it just now, as you say can't get LFTs they tell you that you don't need a PCR now to confirm if you have it or not. We are part of the ONS study and have been since the start. They came on Sunday to do our usual swabs and finger prick. We did warn him before hand that we were positive but he said that fine its all part of the study so all good. OH had his confirmation yesterday mine just came in today. Different information to what's on the Gov website is there any wonder folk are just ignoring it all now. We will still be wearing masks despite what the rules are, if we can catch it on an island that has very low figures, wearing masks and not mixing with others except for shopping how would we be if we ignored it all. The only good thing is that we are catching up on lots of paperwork and other jobs and we will both have had a 'natural boost to our immune system' its anyone's guess how long we will have to wait for the booster to reach the under 70's.

Good to hear folks tales of being out and about👍 Real change in weather today here, thick mist at 6am, but it had cleared at 9am. Very cold though, but dry at least. Hope that lasts, forecast is for rain and possibly snow.
Pooch checked out all ok, and , we have been given access to a new veterinary drug that might just help him with his mobility. It’s not cheap, but we think worth a try, involves an injection once a month. Think we will give it six months at least to see how things go, hopefully, if it’s as good as vets think, it might be possible to get him off some of his other meds. Main thing is, he is healthy apart from his arthritis, and still has a great quality of life.
Another success, human this time, we are both back from dentists requiring nothing more than a clean. Walked back through town, about as depressing as it could get to be honest. Never seen so much litter, filthy paving. Some areas no one there, no footfall whatsoever. Such as shame. Even the busy areas are catering primarily for specific demographics, so its a bit intimidating to be honest. Too many Barbers, Poundshops, mobile phone shops, everything cheap and nasty☹️ We don’t have a single chain shop of any kind now. Boots…gone. M&S…gone. Samuels…..gone. WHS….gone. One or two nice greengrocers and a fishmonger in the market hall, rest is nasty tat. Rent and rates for shops impossibly high for any small independent businesses wanting to give it a try. Even the charity shops are closing down.☹️

I looked in on the BBC Business pages yesterday and the SW pays one of the highest standing charge rates alongside Merseyside etc whilst London pays the lowest! Can't quite work that one out.

Sorry to hear about your OH's Mum TG, we had to move our Mum to hospital for her final days and by the time the home suggested they would look after her she was too poorly to move back again. I think you have all made the right decision.
JVB, sensible to travel light with a pvc. Hope all is going well.

TDA sorry our posts crossed! I haven't been into our local town for nearly two years, so much closed down or run down. We do have an M&S and Primark, next door to each other, clinging on. Sad to see. When we were away even tourist trap Dartmouth had closed shop frontages.

I don’t know about the SW having the highest standing charge rates Brue but they certainly have the highest water rates. Got our bill for three months yesterday £124 and that includes the government £12.50 rebate that the SW gets. There is only two of us, and when our granddaughter sometimes stays but she is out all day. I try to be frugal, showers not baths, water butts for the plants, always have a full washing machine, etc. Wish we had never changed to a meter, then I’d get my monies worth! Hate to think that the shareholders are getting money for water. It must be so difficult for families with children here.
