Had a very strong winds late evening and overnight and still blowing I hate windy weather and I see being outside to check everything ok that the Sahara sand has arrived two cars and the caravan look awful sandy deposits everywhere and hear that it is on the way to the UK, the sky was a strange colour but now gone over and some sunshine and quite warm.

Birds are still coming to the window feeder must be fun for the small birds in this weather.

Back to painting a door today.

As to grass cutting we are trying to put it off until later this month and the field will be done before we go away next month. Had a gazebo delivered yesterday it is one with all the sides having mosquito nets on so will be interesting to see what that is like when we come back in May quite a good size as well 4m x3.5m so it may be the outside eating area in the summer hopefully.

Take care folks and stay safe.

As of yesterday masks no longer needed except in medical surroundings and short distance travelling ie.buses and trains, we will be still wearing ours for shopping etc even when we come to UK for shopping etc.

Had a couple of brilliant days and today is going to be another, sheets ready to go outside for a good airing dogs chomping at the bit waiting for the early morning walk.

Was sat looking out over the entrance to Portsmouth harbour yesterday when this BF came out at full speed hence the blurred effect laughing next week and we will be on one of these, van has had its spring clean in and out, doing the outside, particularly the roof does not get any easier but needs must. Most of what we need to take is now inside and stored neatly, now that we have 2 dogs the boot of the car is off limits for any sort of luggage so more needs to go inside the van, but it is a 5 berth with a good payload so no real worries.laughing

    Afternoon

We’re in the Alicante area and we’re in the middle of the Sahara dust clouds. It arrived yesterday afternoon, the sky was completely orange very every. Today is the same but the wind is now up. The air quality is terrible though, we went walking earlier on but had to return because we both felt unwell. I think that’s why the UK forecast looks good, it’s certainly heading that way.

I’ve only got 11 acres of grass to do next week!

Your review regarding Alannia Costa Blanca mentions a Rally organised by the Camping & Caravan Club. This was the case until March 2020 when we were forced to leave the site due to the spread of Covid-19, the club were not helpful with this mass evacuation & as a result later that year they made all their European Travel staff redundant. I contacted the Caravan & Motorhome Club with a view to taking up ownership of this Rally. They have done this & it has been very successful hence their advertisement.

I would appreciate if you could edit/ammend you review to change the Camping & Caravan Club to the Caravan & Motorhome Club. The rally will be bigger & better next winter as we all come out of the Covid restrictions, it would be nice to see you on the Rally next Winter.

Easy eh? The first cut of the site takes 11 hours, and that’s if it’s dry.

I’ll stay at one marker per pitch jvb, they cost too much. As we all know, there’s a shocking increase in the cost of utilities coming. Don’t want to be using funds unnecessarily🤨

All 11acres?It does not have to be all cut on same day  give OH a chance to have a go as wellsmile,

How soon before opening do you arrive on site?

First cut needs mower bed to be not too low, smile

You still have the choice of one or two pitch markers?

I know what Rufs means about roofs. I washed mine yesterday and spent today polishing it. Everything aches now.

Obviously the site doesn’t need to be cut in one day jvb. After 12 years doing this and a further 8 years as a groundsman, I don’t really need advice how to prepare a site for opening. My OH always does the first cut as I have more than enough to do other than sit on a mower all day. As an example, apart from normal duties I have the damage caused by the guys doing the tree removals after the storms. That’s 12 pitches out of service straight away. Include over 30 meters of tree to dump somewhere, and my 8 long days to get ready will fly by. Not a problem though by any means as I’m looking forward to it, the same as I have since I started with the club. You do what you have to do, with pride.

Arrived home yesterday after an enjoyable weekend away, and then this afternoon we had a visit from our son, daughter in law and our grand-daughter. She is now almost a month old and just gorgeous 😍 they brought her pram so we were able to go for a walk through our local park.

Must be plenty of folks who’ll take those trees off your hands? Burning logs is the only way to stay warm while remaining solvent these days. I’m even starting to see Ash Dieback as a silver lining!

As it goes SB, a local farmer is taking the lot with a donation to the NorthDevon Air Ambulance (my choice). I still have to move it all away from pitching areas to a safe and suitable place for collection.

Finally managed to get on here.

Weather here has been very changeable windy, rain and then a bit of sun just to tempt you back out, then wham heavy rain again. Hoping tomorrow is better, never seen it this bad in all the years we've been coming here.

Bad news today, OHs Mum had a fall on Sunday at her care home, they suspected she had broken her hip so took her to hospital in Dundee where they tested her for Covid. She tested positive, hip fine bruised but not broke but now has to stay in hospital for a week.

OHs niece also positive and today we found out our eldest granddaughter has also tested positive. This is the one in boarding school in Scotland, her Mum has had to drive up from Wiltshire to collect her from school, fortunately DILs Mum and Dad are in Cuba on holiday, so they are going to stay at their house until she is clear. Our son is in France skiing so it's all down to DIL to deal with it. This Covid isn't finished with us yet.

Glad to hear some of you have been getting nice weather and that the gardening season is underway. It will take me weeks to get ours back tidy again.

    Stay safe everyone.

Easy drive around Edinburgh yesterday to our new site,  a small commercial  site with 4 pitching areas and a total of 21 pitches, with the largest individual hardstanding pitches I've seen.

Today we had a Park walk with a prominent Tower on the land of a former well known politician, and a visit to "The Ship that never Sailed".

Sigh.....after testing negative on day 6, OH's day 7 LFT was positive......how does that happen?

So, I have been, alone, with a check list from OH, to fetch the caravan, without incident.  Took me a while to get it back in position on the driveway, had to jack up one wheel to put on the AlKo lock.

Dealer reported the Alde heating pump was not working, so need to investigate that as DD & co are using the van in 2 weeks time.

They also reported, as they did last year. that our charger is not working properly, which I cannot understand as when I try it, it is fine.

We have a battery to battery  charger fitted in the van, I wonder if that is confusing them, I suppose not many people have one fitted so they  are not familiar with them.

Had to smile this morning, friend in Australia had put a post on Facebook, ( I tried to put the link on here but couldn’t, I’m not tech savvy) Polish clip, normal caravan, bike rack on the back but as it goes to the front it has been converted and is being pulled by two horses. Might be an idea if the petrol prices go much higher. She says fuel there is a similar price to here. Many of the supermarket petrol stations around here have closed most of the diesel pumps, with out of order signs. Petrol still available though.

I did ask those nice people at the car wash if they would do the caravan for me, yes, they said £25 but we cant do the roof for health and safety reasons yell dont do much polishing, wash with fenwicks and then throw 2 or 3 buckets of the Bobby Dazzler over it, seems to do the trick .

Think we have got the sand filled skies today that are blowing in from the Iberian continent, my Spanish daughter sent a video yesterday showing the coastal area around Torrevieja, not great, and it is not looking great for rest of week, hope it improves before we arrive. I do remember last time we stayed in Spain in the caravan over the Easter period all the Easter parades were cxld due to torrential rain, oh! well as they say, we will just have to "suck it and see",

Better  news today, day 8 test for OH, she is back to testing negative.

She has an appointment on Monday for pre op assessment for cataract surgery, so checked with the hospital if they were happy with the time scales, which they are.  Dental  appointments too next week, for both of us.

Our windscreen had some mucky bits, probably the sand, when the wipers went across this morning to clear the dew.

Managed to empty the loft this morning. Far more than I expected after last year's clear out! An unlined roof, we have added a lining from the loft side but year's of coal fires and general dust still come through 😱. The biggest amount of 'stuff' is suitcases which were always put in black bags and labelled. I have vacuumed and damp wiped all except the suitcases, just having lunch break. I'll put cases inside themselves when I've removed the bags. I do need to put some clothing, that currently are in/on our built in shelves and drawers. Hanging stuff will go in 'travelling wardrobes' apparently. I have bought a couple of clothes rails for the other end. We have just one wardrobe to take 😱 so I reckon we'll be living out of suitcases for a while...

Naturally the next task is to work out where to store contents of the loft for 3 weeks. Need to ensure that it won't hinder other jobs or need moving again......

Good to read KjellNN clear now and hopefully his OH will be. That's very odd. Hope that others suffering are improving.

I treated myself to a tonic when I collected our prescriptions, generally only 1 month at a time but I wrote a letter to the surgery asking for 3 months because of move, and they have prescribed them! The tonic certainly wasn't cheap, I did have a bottle just after OH was in hospital for months, and I'm pleased to say I'm on day 2 and feeling less tired. Psychosomatic? Don't know but I need the help....

Son asked yesterday would we like to babysit grandson, I know it's very soon after you move. It is just the day after our furniture arrives 🤣🤣🤣. It will be the first time they can go out and celebrate their wedding anniversary, their 3rd, 1st was in lockdown and 2nd was still limited going out and 20 days after birth of son. Apparently his MIL is having grandson the Sunday either side as they have weddings to attend - I thought you would find those difficult!! Glad he had engaged his brain 😱. Might as well sleep on their sofa as mine! And there was me hoping for some support 🤣🤣.

Right time to get moving again.

Like Rufs very strange weather, heavy fog, probably full of sand and torrential rain. We're hoping the rain outlives the sand and washes everything off. Wonder if RedKite has had similar?

Still not feeling brilliant, sister and BIL now have Covid, hope all those affected on here recover soon, sorry to hear about your family TG hope things improve.

Sounds like a few of us could do with a tonic B2?!

That cold of yours is lingering well past its sell by date Brue.

It seems that this covid is finding ways to infect people who have previously managed to avoid it. Are we lowering our guard or is there just so much of it around that it seems inevitable that sooner or later you are going to succumb? We're still trying hard to avoid those situations that we feel uncomfortable in but we still need to shop etc and try to enjoy ourselves.

Had a short walk this morning as energy levels down a bit but didn't mind too much as forecasted rain duly arrived. Paid a visit to the grave of my unknown to me sister who died before I was born. Poor mite was only 2. I hadn't realised it was the week of Christmas when she passed away. Must have been tough for my parents but myself and my 2 further siblings didn't see anything but a normal family life when we duly arrived.

Enjoy your grandchildren Helen and Bakers and good luck to them all. May they live  long and healthy lives.

We went into CMK main shopping centre today and I would estimate that mask wearing was down to less than 10%. Its getting to the point now where I am starting to feel uncomfortable being in the small minority that wear them. Obviously with the Ukraine situation COVID has taken a backseat news wise despite increasing cases. Whilst I accept the evidence points to you having greater immunity from an infection from the virus compared to the vaccine if you catch it and have mild symptoms, there is always the risk of the short straw!!!

We are away😁 short break in MH. Yesterday was glorious, spent all afternoon on bikes. This morning was overcast and very cold, now it’s like Noah’s Flood here. Interesting village visit for us today, famous castle, very interesting church. Site of Royal death, and Royal births. Forecast is good after today, so hopefully more cycling🤞

Great to hear Nazarin Zaharia Ratcliffe is on her way home.👏

After a cloudy morning it is now absolutely torrential rain but no sign of the yellow dust so far. Are you in Fotheringhay by any chance tda?

Sorry you are still feeling poorly brue. But good news that the KjellNN's are now OK. Sorry to hear your family news TG. Our N. Ireland grandchildren are still poorly with covid but gradually feeling better. Son and DIL are negative so far. When I was on duty at the Cathedral yesterday we had a visit from 350 children from Northants schools so I am testing every day at the moment. I am negative so far. Fingers crossed.

Yes absolutely wonderful news that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been released.
