I also test daily at the moment, Millie, as I have contact with some children and largish groups of adults too....  so far I'm OK.  Just keeping fingers crossed that I keep clear of it... if I get it, some things will, sadly but inevitably be cancelled.

Stay well everyone... there is a lot of Covid about at the moment, although generally on the mild side, some can still get quite ill.

You have got it Millie😁 Just having three nights at FM Club Site. Brilliant location for cycling and for dog. Didn’t fancy going far as we had seen forecast, but we were lucky this morning, it stayed dry, so we had a good look around the Church, (found Blaster the Hound) and then a walk around the Castle and along the river. Spotted a CL down past Castle Farm, looks a nice spot for a bit of Summer camping, very basic but at £9 might be good for a couple of dry days. We parked up in Oundle for lunch, interesting place, never been before.

Not quite sure what’s going on with pitches here, but seems they have two pegs now. They would be better off signposting which pitches flood and which don’t, as a few outfits look to be islands tonight🤣 Roadways badly flooded in parts as well. And this is the all HS side, so I guess the other side is even worse. Midweek discount, and still get a bit of VAT saving, so not too expensive. Cycling tomorrow if it’s dry🤞🤞

I hear 'two pegs' is the way forward. It’s happening at other sites. I believe the idea is you pitch between the pegs which will stop the hard of understanding pitching on the wrong side of a single peg - perhaps 😗

That sounds a good day tda. It is a day we often do when we have visitors staying. They always love Fotheringhay and Oundle. It a day out that my uncle loved when he and my aunt used to stay with us when coming to see my dad.  Both have such a lot of history

    That's a bit of wishful thinking, I fear, TW.😄

Good to hear that you are both now testing negative, Kjell.

Hope you soon get clear of the cold soon, brue.

Enjoy your stay at FM, tda. Hope the weather improves for tomorrow.

Sorry that your grandchildren are still testing positive, millie, fingers crossed that you are able to avoid catching it, and you too David.

DK,  we were in the Livingston McArthur Glen centre today, and although it was very quiet well over 95% of those in there were wearing masks, as required in Scotland, and we felt quite safe.

By the sound of it we're in the right area at the moment and although we had light rain early on most of the day was fine, and I didn't get set at all on our walks out today.

Ferry Meadows is prone to flooding on some pitches as as the side that is open all year is on a large band of clay,  ,,and before it was made into the site as now  it used to be only opened during the. Summer with a porta cabin toilets

The original site is now the seasonal site as in the past FM closed after the Nene Park fireworks because of high water levels from the river flooded the site,

I understand that the two pegs is/was to be introduced on all sites to "help?" those pitching to maintain the fire breaks by pitching between the pegs

We are booked at FM from Sunday with our PVC and trailer, to see if it makes it easier for us to carry on touring, ,into the future ,,

Brue I hope you are feeling better as the cold does seem to be hanging on.

Not had any more sand here but the sky yesterday and the day before did have a odd look and colour but not orange and we did have sunshine yesterday so did get washing dried.

We are awaiting a large delivery here supposed to have been here yesterday and the tracking shows it is doing circuits around Clermont Ferrand and now OH has an update proposing next Monday heyho but at least we will be able to get out to do shopping and pharmacie visit and the skip as we have ordered a new compost bin a month ago and have to collect from the local skip plus a few more chores to do.

Good luck with all your packing Bakers2, when we moved here from Somerset we basically got rid of most of the loft into a skip as most of the stuff up there was just a storage area and here we have a small loft but not used for storing as is the cases with most houses over here.

Cases here are on the rise again and will be interesting to see if folks are wearing masks or not as we will be for sometime to come it has not gone away yet.

It's one I don't know Nellie, will look it up. Sounds like a good trip, lots to see.

I think we have some sunshine on the way, we've just been asked to collect our "extra" dog as he would be home alone for a long day.

Was just thinking of ditching EH membership when  the new pack arrived yesterday and I read things anew and decided we should get out more! We already go out a lot, mostly to familiar places but there is definitely more to see. Reading posts on here is a reminder of what's around. smile

Having polished the roof the other day, the van now needs the sahara dust washing off. Thought I'd left all that behind when I sold my place on the Costa Blanca. The to add insult to injury, I've tested positive for Covid this morning so have had to postpone my glaucoma check visit.yell

Ah! that is one advantage of having a caravan, you can quickly turn the jockey wheel down getting quite an acute angle to the rear and the rain simply washes all the sand off the roof, well that is my theory, roof was clean when i washed it a couple of days ago and as i wont be getting up to look at it agen for perhaps another 12 months i will assume it is still clean.

sorry about your positive, but look on the bright side, lots of top tanning weather for the next 10 days, much better than in Spain my daughter reports it is raining and will be for the next 10 days laughing

Weather still not great here, overcast skies, little bit of blue now and again but definitely not what we usually get.

Well it's not got any better back home, DILs Mum and Dad are not in Cuba as I thought. On the morning they were due to fly out they got their PCR test back and were both positive, along with the friends they were going with. They have not seen each other for over a week so would appear all caught it from different sources.

Good news is OHs Mum is fine not showing symptoms, neither is granddaughter or DILs parents. OHs niece not so fortunate, she is struggling to breathe and feels like she's been hit by a bus, she's fully vaccinated and boosted. Glad we are here, not looking forward to flying home, at least on Scottish flights you still have to wear a mask.

Not good news re P&O,  we were thinking of using them this autumn won't be now if what we are hearing is true.

Think we will go for a drive and walk shortly, today is hand over day so lots of comings and goings.

    Take care folks.

    Quick catch up on here.

Brue hope you cold is improving. Cyberyacht sorry to hear you've tested positive, hope you don't feel too poorly.

Tammygirl I hope the sun comes out for you.

It's been glorious in the sun here but out of it very chilly. Quickly hosed windows are car to get the worst of the Sahara sand off. Need to do properly but not got any time until Saturday afternoon.

Today OH knocked the WiFi thermostat into the dogs water bowl. Thought we'd rescued it and dried it but sadly it's now totally blank! Phoned our heating guys, couldn't sort today, this was at 4pm, wasn't expecting instance response but we have no heating so as OH is not so good they'll be out 1230 ish with a new one oe tmorrow. Couldn't ask for better service

You'll have to give him a big cuddle Bakers laughing

It's been sunny but extremely windy here today with a biting NW wind coming in off the Irish Sea. Managed a couple of walks.

Off home tomorrow after our nearly 3 week touring stint. Home for about 10 days and then away to a cottage with MiL for 4 days.

We have a lot of things that need attention when we get home so will be busy next week.

Best wishes to those struck down with Covid. I was reading today that people who have had the dratted virus are slightly more prone to Diabetes-2 than normal so should keep an eye on any symptoms. As if having covid wasn't enough.

Beautiful sunny day here, and quite warm in the sun after dropping very cold overnight. Bike ride for us after pooch had a good walk, into Peterborough, a nice look around the Cathedral. (I just missed you Millie, apparently😁) Some ladies inside stitching away at a fabulous tapestry, based on the wonderful ceiling. So interesting. And sniffer dogs inside practising as well. It’s always such a varied visit, always something different happening inside. Spent a few pounds in the shop as well, and left a donation👍
Came back the long way, and right round the country park. The water levels were well up from our first ride on Tuesday, just deciding our route home now, not sure whether to head home via Southwell, or Lincoln🤔More ecclesiastical perambulations…….

We had a lovely sunny day here too, although I was stuck in the office at work this afternoon. 😪 Did manage a quick trip into town.

Ttda glad you enjoyed your day in Peterborough.

Safe trip home tomorrow Wherenext. Glad you have had a good holiday.

Bakers2 we had to replace our heating thermostat a little while ago, as the screen went blank. We  thought it would involve an electrician but the local plumbers merchant had a new thermostat and a receiver which had already been connected.  OH only had to unclip the front of old receiver by the boiler and clip on the replacement, took about 5 minutes.

Tammygirl I hope you get some sunshine soon,  forecast here is looking really good for the next few days, up to 18°c early next week. 🌞

Hope all those unwell feel better soon.

Sorry we missed each other tda but so glad you had a good visit. We only moved into the Welcome Desk this morning after the brand new shop opened last week. Hope you were impressed😁. Yes werent the sniffer dogs wonderful. My favourite was of course the springer having had one for a number of years. I would recommened going home via Southwell. Some very good friends of ours  live opposite the Minster which is well worth a visit. It is lovely and quite unusual. They also have a wonderful team of volunteers.

Grand-daughter in N. Ireland is now testing negative but grandson has been quite poorly and is still positive. He is only 11 so hasnt had the jab yet. He doesnt qualify until his 12th birthday in June.

Gosh a lot happening with folk on here glad a few of you are enjoying your breaks away.

Finally manged to get shopping done plus a few extra items OH saw not cheap heyho, what surprised us today was mainly older generation wearing masks younger ones not and getting to close for our comfort and a few looks from some folks as if we were aliens it only changed on Monday.  Our large parcel now been passed to another carrier and now coming on Monday so will not be able to celebrate our friends birthday with him that day and another friend has got her OH over from UK for a week and that is the only she does not work and was hoping we could go for a meal at her place just one of those days.

Watched the hero dogs at Crufts and they had a sniffer Springer on that from the London Fire Service amazing to watch him, again having had 2 we know what they are like Millehull.

Looks like we are having another xmas next week with our friends who have just come back from UK and it is our turn to do it not to keen but they love xmas so some decs will have to come out for a few days heyho will keep it simple  and it looks like warmer weather next week as well.

    Stay safe folks.

Brue, it is in the parkland of the House of the Binns, a NTS property, which is the home of the Dalyell family. It is a very prominent feature as one drives towards Stirling from Edinburgh along the M9.

RedKite. I was secretly hoping the springer would be the winner, I liked the way he was a bit of a stress buster for the crews. The other dogs were lovely too. Our friend's have a daughter and son in law who are both blind, They recently had a family funeral and the SIL's guide dog went along, a very friendly light coloured retriever who managed to cover all the black clothes of the funeral goers with dog hair, they were allowed to make a fuss of him...he was a big hit and helped everyone get through the funeral so no-one minded too much that he'd left his mark on their clothing.wink

We went down to West Bay in Dorset today, OH had to drop some licences in at the angling shop. There were a few beach anglers out, some cod around apparently. We had a good walk along the promenade section and a walk on the sands with the dog, overhead there were several para-gliders in action, I was surprised to see one going over the harbour. Beautiful sunshine but still chilly. Glad to clear my head too. The caravan site in the town looked quite busy, so did the CAMC site on the way home. We collected our daughter's dog on the way back and he's here for a couple of nights.

There are still a lot of students ill with Covid at our daughter's school and eight staff off. Sorry to hear about your grandson Millie, it's quite a worry isn't it? Hope everyone feels better soon. I think I'll order yet another test kit!

Hope you can enjoy being out of the office at the weekend Helen? Looks like we finally have some good weather on the way. TG I think the weather has been topsy turvy this year, a cold Spring in many places.

TDA, I wonder where you'll visit on the way home?! Have a safe journey.

Edit   Thanks Nellie, we must have been posting at the same time!

I like West Bay brue. I think I have mentioned before that I have a cousin who lives in the area and he and his wife often go for a walk there (out of season 😁). I hope the sea air cleared your head.

I love springers, they are so enthusiastic about life. Unfortumately we werent allowed to make a fuss of them at the cathedral as they were on duty but when I went to collect my car as I left all the dogs were having some R&R in the precincts which was  lovely to see.

I hope you can enjoy the good weathet over the weekend Helen. So lovely to hear you had such a lovely visit from your new grand-daughter.

We had a rather scary moment driving home up the M5 yesterday when the car 2 in front of us had it's bonnet somehow spring open and smash against the windscreen. The lining flew out and was heading in our direction but fortunately stayed high enough to miss us. The car's driver did an amazing job in getting over to the hard shoulder very quickly. Haven't been able to discover the outcome so luckily it seems not to have caused any major difficulties or injuries.

A gloriously sunny and warm day today. The workers (three generations) are all out hedging. while I'm inside sorting out the bills ready to pay them on Monday.

Tomorrow we're heading south to remember an old friend who died last month. He had a Direct Cremation (no family there at all), but dozens of us are meeting up at Rogiet in South Wales for a memorial service, then a wake at a pub just over the bridge on the English side. He had a distinctive bright fashion sense and we are encouraged to wear at least one bright item. I'm wearing a 10 year old pink velvet jacket, but my husband is using the occasion as an excuse to buy a new waistcoat (bright Regency style embroidered). You can never have too many waistcoats - even a farmer with a limited social life.

Had an easy(ish) trip home which entailed taking the caravan to Tesco carpark. It is an "Extra" so there was ample space. It's just that Mrs.WN had an appointment that came through last week when we were away for a visit to the Mobile Breast Screening machine. It was this morning and as we had to pass Tesco on the way home we thought we would merely take our time leaving the site rather than rush.

A lot of paperwork to sort out when we finally unpacked the car and caravan.

We decided to cancel our P&O ferry and rebooked with Stena from Harwich which unfortunately makes life more complicated for us. Even though the cancellation cost us the best part of £180 I really didn't like the way P&O dealt with the workers and can't see us using them again, even though the crossing to the Netherlands is easier from Hull for us.

Good plan WN. I am absolutely disgusted with P&O at the way they have treated their staff both in the way the told them and also having 'cheaper' agency staff ready to take over their jobs. That isnt what I understand as redundancy. I think they have done themselves a great diservice as many people will feel the same and wont ever use them again. Apart from all the above I certainly wouldn't feel safe with the replacement agency staff in charge.

Glad you got it sorted out, WN, but has given you a much longer drive to the port. It has been an expensive year all round so far for you, so hope the rest of your plans go without hitch.

Pleased to read that you are feeling better, brue, and have had an enjoyable day out.

JVB, it's not unusual for dealers not to listen to what they are ask to do, but glad that you managed to get hold of a replacement has bottle.

Hope you journey down to Wales goes to plan and you both have a lovely day remembering your friend, Goldie.

A fortunate escape, moulesy, it could well have resulted in a nasty accident.
