Gosh this website is so slooooow........
Have a great time in Looe triky, plenty of R&R.
Ttda your day out sounded lovely, I wish we lived a bit closer to the peak district.
Glad your car passed its MOT Millie and good luck with the ceiling repairs.
New Grand daughter is doing really well, son and his wife seem to be coping with parenthood, son still has another week before he has to go back to work. They are planning to visit us next week.

Thank You all for your Kind Thoughts about my elderly old Bat of a Sister
but be assured it's not just ME !! I've just had a l-o-o-o-n-g phone call with her daughter the eldest of that brood who, apparently , has been similarly concerned and has spoken to all her siblings for a week or three, but never said a bleep bleep bleep to her UNCLE grrrr ! At least I've instructed { Suggested ?? } that on her visit to the surgery next week she will raise the worries and, backed by the Existing Power Of Attorney, see if she can be more generally supervised !!I would have been here earlier but, although fine at lunch time, it took me Twelve (12) minutes to access PROFILE Page -- Just goes to show that I'm still the gentle, sweet natured old goat that joined this Blasted, Useless, [ Deleted User Deleted User Deleted User ] Customer irritating pile of Technology Free Garbage __ SO THERE

Well that went well I thought. Pity Mrs WN didn't but never mind eh?
Made up for it by having a bottle of bubbly at the ready. Had to clean the toothbrush mugs out of steradent first but it added a bit of an aftertaste and obviously helped prevent plague. Win - Win.

Interesting journey over from Lincolnshire. Nice of the Red Arrows to give us a fly past as we went past Lincoln. Obviously my request got through to them. Bit miffed to find I had to pay a £0.40 toll to get over the River Trent but we eventually landed in Derbyshire on our next CL, gradually working our way home.
Had a lovely stroll around the estate that is Chatsworth this afternoon. Off for a celebratory meal tomorrow. I know, I just spoil her.

Good to hear that the film was good Brue. Unfortunately our local, only half a dozen people likely to turn up, cinema is closed for quite a while to be refurbished so might have to brave the bigger complexes if we decide to brave it.
We've had several "discussions" with MiL about safety, ABM and Ttda, and are finally seeing some agreement. It helps that there are, and have been, several incidents in the close involving elderly people who have needed assistance and MiL is the first to remonstrate rhetorically asking why they haven't done so and so... We silently thank all of those unfortunates who have gone before her having spills and incidents and are sorry for their ill fortune but we do have salvation in that we have contributed to their help and assistance in the past.

Sorry to hear your news, Kjell, this virus is certainly doing the rounds of your family. Hope that all are soon clear of it.
Good to read that the car's MOT passed, millie, that's a weight off your mind.
Glad that you enjoyed the film, brue. OH will wait till it come onto Sky/Netflix/Prime whatever. Pleased to hear that dogs are now allowed into Stourhead. To put your mind at rest the tall building is Wellington Monument on the top of Peneil Heugh near Jedburgh.
Sorry to hear about your sister ABV. Hope that she hasn't suffered from her fall.
Tda, that looks like a grand day out. I'm sure that your mum and sister, as well as yourself, enjoyed it.
Shame your OH didn't appreciate all the trouble you went to, WN.😉 Did you manage to get a different pitch this time at PG, more to the satisfaction? Enjoy your celebratory meal tomorrow.

Hi Nellie.
Having had a choice of 3 different ones we decided to pitch on the same one as previously.
Only problem last time was the heat melting the bits of tar in the shale and hardcore. No chance of that this time. 4 of the 5 pitches are now taken. When do you move on? Mrs WN sends her best wishes to you both.

Don't know what everyone else is finding around the country but we were a bit surprised to see a Shell garage in Lincolnshire charging £1.91 per litre for diesel today and Tesco yesterday had run out of E5. Normal average for diesel seems to be between £1.55 and £1.60 per litre at the moment.

Today was still fine but not quite as sunny, but with a cold wind. Easy drive up to our latest CL in East Lothian. Only one other caravan on the site, it has been quiet like this all trip so far apart from the first one.
We've seen more snowdrops wherever we've been in Scotland than we've ever seen in England. The effects of the recent storms is very noticeable throughout the country, with huge trees down and broken branches along the roadsides.
Edit. Think this answers your post, WN. All the best to you both from us.

Oh THANK YOU NELLIE Brian does like a good giggle !!
you wrote :-- Sorry to hear about your sister ABV
Now I know she likes the occasional glass of white wine, but I no longer touch alcohol so I really don't think I should be referred to as ABV qv

I don't know how that happened, my apologies, Brian.

Got home from Skybarn Farm CL near Lincoln, yesterday lunchtime after a lovely stay although the weather was pretty dire. Managed to escape the forecast strong winds which might have meant a detour if the Humber Bridge had been closed to high-siders.
After spending what seemed like hours emptying the car and the van (why do we take so much stuff?!!), took the car down to the local garage for it's MOT and service, today. I'm braced for a big bill because the tyres are getting towards borderline and I suspect the brakes might need new pads.
Oh well - at least the insurance company has coughed up the expense incurred over Meg's treatment but I can see that disappearing out again later today

Our hairdresser should have been coming today but she contacted us last night to let us know that a client who she had been to on Tuesday had contacted her to say she had just tested positive. Did we want to rearrange? We decided that yes we did so she is coming in 10 days. I hope for her sake that she doesnt get it as she self employed and her finances will take a hit. This virus certainly hasnt gone away. Son in NI also rang for a chat and said that they have had non stop torrental rain for 3 days which is forecast to last until Friday. I told him not to send it our way. We are off to Bourne Abbey this afternoon with our U3A group. We have never been before so looking forward to it. Friday we are meeting up with friends for lunch at the restaurant at our local theatre. The theatre and restaurant were threatened with closure but have been taken over by another company for a year so we thought we should support it.

Hope you enjoy your visit later today Millie.
I've just caught up on here! Yesterday I posted, then tried to edit and everything went Kaput, my post appeared later when I'd given up.
Anyway some people I see are like the Beach Boys getting around and the rest of us are more or less at home. Hope the trips go well. Thanks for the info Nellie, it should have been familiar as we lived north of there for a few years!
Hope you have sorted something for your sister Brian, having a wrist alarm or similar at least gives people a fighting chance...if they remember to use them, put them on etc etc!
Not a lot going on here today but the sun is shining. When we were out yesterday we noticed some greening up of roadside Hawthorn hedges in sheltered spots and Blackthorn coming out.
Just a heads up for anyone coming to the SW via the A303. Work is progressing on dualling the section between Sparkford and Podimore, N of Yeovil. It's getting more disruptive and the A303 is closed overnight from 8pm in this area. As it won't get finished till 2024 it's going to be quite a challenge for holiday traffic.
PS Hope all the "fizz" wasn't taken out of your day?!

As ever - I'm always the pessimist - but at least it ensures that any surprises are pleasant! Car sailed through it's MOT - tyres were down to 5mm - so a couple of mm to go before I'll change them. The bill was very reasonable and at least with this garage I know that if they say they have done something - it's actually been done.
Wish I could get two tyres for the Treg for that, Francis. I'm anticipating something like that for each of them!

Just cost me £1,200 for a set of 4 RFTs for my X5.The worrying thing is it took over 4 weeks to source them, and if punctured no one (reputable) will repair them.

Just back from our afternoon out.
Spent the morning walking around the local reservoirs for a couple of hours before sprucing up with a shower and putting on clean walking clothes, that is non mud splattered. Then off for a lovely pub lunch not far from the Longshaw Estate in the High Peak District, where we had a couple of hours walking afterwards to get rid of some of the calories.
The moors looked fantastic, especially as the skittering clouds allowed the sun to make jigsaw type mosaics on the farm landscapes and the moors themselves, made all the more romantic by listening to the calls of Curlews. Who needs bubbly when nature provides the same kick and cheaply herself?
Mrs WN thrilled as she picked up an art book by a fabled (in her world) American artist from the 1930s. This would have been a thrill in itself for her but she has just discovered a new £5 note tucked away in the pages.

I was very annoyed seeing all fires brue. Grouse moors of course, all deliberate, and quite extensive. They obviously have heather cutters as lots of other area you could see neatly cut squares.😡
We have a bit of a thing about “out of context” Shakespeare as well. When we went to York to the special theatre they built there, we watched Richard III, set in the 1930s, and it didn’t add anything to the play or atmosphere to be honest. OH was very disappointed, I just enjoyed it for what it was.
Hope Trikey enjoys Looe. JV, must have been worrying for you, hope you don’t get a repeat.

Would that be the Fox House? If so, very nice. I was across there Tuesday for a drive with Mum, scenery is looking glorious.👍 Enjoy the rest of your stay😁

Ttda, we now go to The Angel in Holmesfield when in the area as it's 90%GF food and a lot is DF as well. We "found" it last year when over this way and called again a second time as it was so good for me. Seemed appropriate to have a meal there for our anniversary. We don't normally bother with celebrations but happened to be in the area at the right time so decided to push the boat out.
In the right area as well to have a walk afterwards.
There were a couple of fires going on the moors in the distant today.

Ooops the PS on my post was for the WNs and obviously no "fizz" was needed, glad you had a good day.
TDA, there have been some recent fires on moors, arson or accidental so I got mixed up thinking you were showing another one!
Had a productive day, getting some plants into the garden and some seeds sown in the greenhouse.

Thanks Brue. I did understand it may have been aimed at us. We don't normally have bubbly either but seem to have gone mad this year.🤣🥂 Told Mrs WN not to take it as any precedent.
Meant to ask you, did your OH get the guttering up in that recent storm? or did discretion win out?

Glad to hear that your car past it's MOT, r&r. There are plenty of tyre suppliers who will give you a good deal and a mobile tyre fitter should put them on for you at a reasonable cost.
Good to read that your day out was a success, WN. Is your OH going back tomorrow to see if she can repeat her success?😁
Washing, shopping and a couple of walks along the beach today. Not as bright as it has been but a good but warmer.

OH GOODY,
Francis, as I posted yesterday I do like giggling on my way to bed

No reason to believe that the daft old Bat will follow anybody's advice other than those dream-time whisperers

A report from the " Island Echo" said that yesterday's diesel is now £2.oo.o1 !!!!!!0 -
Triky our friends have just left I.O.W last night to catch the Brittany Ferries sailing last night and did comment on the price of fuel but they said it has nearly always been dearer there, OH tried to get some diesel yesterday from Carrefour only they had none left so the only other garage is a lot dearer so he had to get that 2.08 euros a litre yikes Carrefour would have been 1.96 euros and possibly more rises on the way.
Enjoy your break triky.
Now got the strong winds which started late last night and possibly until next Wednesday I hate strong winds as I have issues with my right ear so will have to put cotton wool in or wear a hat, sunny at present but heavy rain forecast for later today and the weekend, but we do need rain here as the last two months have been rather dry and looks like we will be in for a hot summer as my one friend told me the other day.
Off to check our friends house today before they get back in the next few days and they are staying at Obterre on the way down all depends on the strong winds not keen on towing in it.
We did notice yesterday that there has been two new cable posts put in near the poubelle area as it looks like a dustcart reversed into one of them so the cable was very low to the ground but somebody had propped up the post and folk were still driving under it but I decided it did not look safe gone from a wooden post to metal now hope that lasts a bit longer, folks are not good with using mirrors around here.
Have a good day folks and stay safe.

I suppose the advantage of the IOW is that it is not very large so even at £2 a litre you won't need to fill up that often?
