richardandros that was my nightmare senerio.  I know that lots do go through fine but there must also be the exception that proves the rule 😱😱. Its making my tummy wobble now thinking about you. Thank goodness we have a new build at the top of the chain, otherwise we could have been in that situation. I know not why but you/we couldn't before we discovered the builders requests were slightly more 😉. It's the builder that's insisting on 8 weeks between so he can personalise the new build. Not sure what with that takes so long. It was to be 4 weeks but think the speed has annoyed him!

I'm now stewing about space needed for  the bits that I need to take in the car,  vacuum, cleaning stuff, dog, us etc and the things I don't want on the removal lorry. I think son is going to receive some bits to store when we next see them. I'm one of those that must have a worry  I think 🤔

Lovely bright cloudy and chilly start to today, I've already got all the bedding from one spare bed washed and pegged out. We had a heavy frost when I looked out in the early hours but it had gone by 0730.

Richardandros how is the recovery going?

Milliehull is your avatar a good likeness for my cathedral visit? Mine is 😉

Good news at last Bakers2 the next few weeks will flyby.

Had some late sun yesterday after a few spots of rain, have been painting a new shutter in our Cellier to cold to do it outside all undercoat now on just need to tops coats next week having the weekend off and pm we went shopping and OH decided to do a car wash at our local Carrefour as it had not been washed since we came back from Obterre for our xmas/new year break too many frosty days.

We had a light frost this morning but all gone but still quite chilly and I see that it is getting warmer again this coming week but more rain, hopefully I will get some gardening done this month as have shrubs to trim but did not want to do it whilst frosty weather.

When we sold up in Somerset our place was cleared on a Friday and then it all went into storage as we had not bought this house then, fun and games we did leave some things behind that we could have done with here but OH could not get back until the Saturday and he came back and cleared a few things into a trailer then down to Hampshire where we had an older caravan and awning on a CL  plus we had our old Spaniel glad that is all over not sure we would do it again.

OH has just taken supplies over to our Covid-ites, daughter still a bit poorly so in bed, partner feeling ok today.

At Christmas the two of them gave us theatre tickets to see Claire Teal and her band at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton. So off we trundled last night to hear some good music, I think everyone there had a good evening of jazz. The three band musicians, base, drums and piano were brilliant, they played on their own as well as accompanying the singing. Their tour dates have been compromised by Covid so I think this was the third attempt locally.

When we came out the pubs were busy with youngsters, most of them outside in marquees and shelters but the streets were very quiet. Although we've been out and about to a few events this was a first in a more busy area.

Bakers, I'm so pleased you have now advanced in the right direction. In our moves I always packed a lot of boxes for immediate use and special things I wanted to keep near at hand. When we moved down from Scotland our stuff had been in storage for several months, I had been living in a fully equipped holiday home in the Cairngorms, belonging to our house buyers so they could move into our house. When we arrived down here the removal van arrived with all the boxes but I hadn't marked them all and we couldn't find the bedding!!

Glad to read that folk are managing to get some time away for a break.  Our next time away will be after the NEC show now....  We've had a few days away in the caravan this week - dropped really well for the weather - only a few drops of rain after dark, and generally sunny during the day..... couldn’t have been any better for February...

Managed to book for the NEC Show on the Wednesday.

Just catching up with the news about house and tooth problems.... Hope all gets sorted out soon....  I was speaking to someone last night about 'houses' and they were surprised that I have only ever er lived in 3 houses (apart from college/uni)....  House 1: until I was 6 years old; House 2: aged 6 - 28 - until I got married; House 3 (this one): age 28 to the present!!

    David

P.S. I could do with changing my avatar picture to something a little more up to date - it's also an old photo....

B2 - thanks for asking.  I'm doing fine, thank you.  Scar has healed up nicely and I'm now walking without a stick - even managed the beach with Meg the other day.  My leg tends to swell up after a couple of hours out of bed, but I suppose that's to be expected after the trauma it's experienced. Booked into Skybarn Farm CL (near Lincoln) on 2 March and really looking forward to a change of scenery - being stuck close to home most of the time isn't my scene!

I have another patient to worry about, though.  Little Meg has been in the wars of late and was at the Emergency Vets on Monday night.  After the wet eczema cleared up, she developed three abscesses - two on her neck and one on her back.  Two have cleared up but the third is causing some concern.  Vet has taken a biopsy and the results are inconclusive and she may need surgery. She's never been really poorly before, so it's a bit worrying - but she's getting lots of lovesmile

Skybarn is a good location for visiting Lincoln. IIRC Nikki has installed on-pitch plumbing now. Whisby Nature Reserve nearby is worth a visit depending on your mobility.

Glad to hear things are progressing. Just ensure when you still you raise your leg. OH had same op and 'button holes' where vein removed, don't remember any leg swelling, but then he was 3 weeks in the itu/critical care part as he had a stroke on the table and then more weeks on various wards. I could have told you how many days, maybe even hours, when it was going on 3 years ago but it has been to the its not important now let's move on bin.

Sorry to her about poor Meg. Fingers crossed it can be sorted. Good tge tge wet eczema ,and 2 ulcers have cleared up.

    Enjoy a change of scenery.

It's turned out a real cracker of a day. Cooler than I thought - I regretted not putting my hat on for the dog walk. We now have clear blue skies and a jolly good breeze so I've dried 2 loads of washing and am awaiting the 4th to finish and peg out. That'll be all the spare beds done down to mattress level, so I can pack the clean stuff ready to be put back at my leisure once we're in. Unless we get some early takers on the visiting front!

I'm planning on ensuring the kettle tea coffee and biscuits are left to the last and put in the car for 1st unpack to keep the removers sweet! Were having dinner bed and breakfast at sons on day of move so not much needed for that apart from pj's and toothbrushes. Keep suggestions coming

Coincidentally the day of our move is the 45th anniversary of us moving in together! Who stole those years?

Thanks Cy - they've had fully serviced pitches for a few years now.  We used to keep one of our boats in Burton Waters Marina - so know the area very well - bit like a bit of a second home to us.  Looking forward to those wonderful cream teas that Nicola has arranged to be delivered from a local bakerysmile  Next time you're there, you've just GOT to try one.

We walked into  Coleford this morning from Darkhill, couldn't resist buying some lovely bird mugs, I did tell the lady in the shop I would be in trouble with OH!

Had lunch in the pub then managed a walk round rspb Nagshead before the drizzle arrived.

Had a Facetime chat with the boys and their other halves. It should be last weekend as just the 2 of them for eldest son and his wife as they are going in on Monday as she is going to be induced, due to her diabetes. So we will be on  "grandparents" duty next week.smile

Nellie,  we are staying at Hawthorne Cottage, it has been our go to site over the last 2 years since Moulsey recommended it on CT. We did use a CL once but we weren't very impressed.  I think you stayed here? Bev has taken over the site, but John is still about for a chat.

Bakers2 hope all goes well with the move, I often think about a move but to be honest I don't think I could cope with the stress.laughing

Brue, wishing your daughter well,  glad you enjoyed your evening.

Nelliethehooker we had 3 moves in our early years but have been here days short of 37 years when we move.

I tend to be an organised person, I'm on lists now, countdown ones! I quite like a challenge but I like to be able to control it too! That's been the toughest part of this since early October. Hardest part is not having the physical and mental support I once did 😪. But it will happen. I pay for what I can't do myself and have reluctantly accepted lower standards on some things. That's a tough one!

A great friend has offered Sunday dinner the day before we move,  dressed in whatever and disappear soon after it as necessary.  which will be the day after we're being packed so just as well, I was thinking of eating out regardless but this is even better. Car valet on the Friday and reflexology on the Thursday.  So planning ahead and looking after me too.

Off for a dog walk before the rain arrives. Grey and breezy for now. Stay safe folks.

Daughter in NZ has had a tree down, fell away from the house, in the tail end of cyclone, but that's all luckily. I  knew it was bad before I went to bed as the Auckland Bridge was closed. Can't recall that before. Still they're safe and others have greater damage 😪

HelenandTrevor hope all goes well for everyone. Do you know which is arriving? Not easing knowing and waiting, I never did with my daughter, and didn't want to know for our son but circumstances- he was viewing a house for us  to decide if it was worth the journey,.and he couldn't and had to tell us why. They were long hours..... but which sort arrived was a surprise so that was lovely

Thoroughly miserable day here as well WN. Wind and rain. The M word is mentioned here as well now and then but quickly gets dropped. There is nothing on the market here anyway and couldn't face the hassle.

Congrarulations on your new great grand- daughter Goldie. I hope all goes well for them both and they are both at home together soon. Condolences on the sad news of your friend. Happy birthday to your OH and his twin.

Turned miserable here., thanks to those in the west! Dry but rather cold breezy walk this morning.

Wherenext I do hope you didn't bring up the m word. My advice is to seriously think about where you are and what you have, can it be adapted to suit future needs? Tick yes and call it quits. No sane person should consider undertaking such a stressful ridiculous past time....... Sorry DEBSC!

Its almost 12 months, it will be just a 6 days short when we move, since we decided we'd go for it. Our chain just 3 sellers, 4 folk and a builder - sounds simple. Of course time waster who agreed to sell in June, still not found so I hear, but I do concede I prefer the house we are buying, better layout and already secure dog friendly garden, but we are downsizing by increasing, bedrooms, parking, garages and garden!! 🤣. If it wasn't for the fact that son married a farmer, thus most unlikely to move, we wouldn't have followed - they might have moved themselves and we can't follow forever! The pandemic did bring home the distance, ordinarily an hour and a half is not an issue and of course the arrival of a grandchild was enticing. Now we can do pop in visits, not a whole day for a few hours, assist if necessary with childcare, and have a new adventure, sorting the new house to our choosing in decorating and furnishing, enjoy watching a garden unfold through the seasons before putting our mark on it. Oh not to mention get to grips with new routes for shopping, hospitals etc.... but new things to explore to!

Goldie, belated birthday greetings to your OH. Congratulations on your presidency I'm sure it won't involve much work! Congratulations on the birth of your great granddaughter, as my late nan and mum always said she's got all tge world to grow in 💝. Must be hard for her mum to come home and leave her. Condolences on the loss of a friend.

My first phone call today was a very good friend who moved to Scotland 30 years ago, her younger sister, 58, passed away peacefully on Friday. I had my suspicions on Friday 🥲. Not unexpected but still a shock. Her and her husband sold their business last autumn to enjoy the future, all tied up, diagnosed with cancer the following week. Lesson to us all LIVE FOR NOW .

Takethedogalong hope your boiler gets sorted tomorrow, read on Smart Meter thread. I'm with you on tech stuff. Friends up the road  went to stay at daughter's on Friday, after boiler breakdown week before last. New part fitted but another needed, now obsolete. No stove to keep the house warm, just a gas fire. Daughter wanted help to paint ceilings so mutually beneficial. New boiler means much work they have a back boiler no longer available.....

Today has been a little wet, but managed one walk round the local woods in the dry this afternoon. Otherwise have been incredibly lazy reading and watching the rugby.laughing

Bakers2  son was going to keep the babies sex a secret but couldn't, they are expecting a girl.

Wherenext the site  is always busy, apart from tonight, only 3 left, it has always been full when we have visited.  Bev has been  slowly making improvements to the site since she took over.

KjellNN.  Sorry did reply to your post,  but the site went into meltdown and it disappeared!! yell

Pitches at Hawthorne Cottage are not as large as club ones and a couple are a bit quirky, cars are parked in front of vans. We have seen a  couple of  large twin axle vans onsite, we have had one next to us last couple of nights and they pitched ok without a mover. Talk to Bev about pitch if you have any concerns

The site is quiet being adult only and the walks direct from the site are endless.

Hope the move goes well after all your hard work in organising the move, B2. We've never moved in over the 50yrs that we've been married, and think it is too late now until we have to move, for health reasons, to hear our daughter, and hopefully that won't be for a long time yet.

Congratulations on the birth of your 2nd great grandchild, and fingers crossed that all goes well for her and her mother, Goldie. Birthday greetings to your OH, and his brother too. Condolences on the death of your friend.

Thanks Helen. I don't know when we'll be down that way again but wouldn't mind staying there when we do.

Bakers - If we were still just the 2 of us we would be quite happy in a property half of the current size but we're not so it's all a bit pie in the sky. However I did notice a smaller bungalow that has just come up for sale in the village so may stroll past tomorrow. laughingThey do go like hotcakes though.

Boy, you've had quite the week Goldie. Congrats and commiserations in the same breath.
