I've had the Hive system for 5-6 years now and like others find it useful, I have the boiler control and some light bulbs and sockets which are also useful. 3 years ago i fitted 4 of the hive thermostatic radiator valves. They were easy to install and set up but they are very slow in operation. it can take up to 30 mins for the valve to open once the scheduled time is reached. I believe they are designed like this to maximise battery life. I ended up bringing the scheduled on time forward by 30 mins to compensate.

I had some good news today. I took my car to a specialist towbar installation garage this morning to have the auxiliary wiring loom fitted so the 12v supply would be there for the ATC system, battery charging and fridge whilst towing. The towbar and electrics were a factory fitted option from BMW and as as most people know, German car manufactures dont deem it necessary to install the auxiliary wiring and talking to the dealer about it when ordering the car was like talking to a 2 year old about nuclear physics!
The main reason for having it done was the new caravan I have on order has the ATC system which my present caravan doesn't. Anyway it seems BMW had fitted all the required wiring but for some unknown reason the auxiliary supplies dont activate for a least 5 minuets after the car is started. The engineer, who fits towbars for the two local BMW dealerships, said it was the first BMW he'd seen with all the wiring installed.
The good news was he only charged me a few pounds for carrying out the checks so saved me over £100.

Whittakerr that sounds like a win!
Took our car for its MOT today, almost 7 weeks early, as I wanted it sorted incase it clashed with 'our move' 🤞I didn't want to have to squeeze it in or find somewhere soon after we arrived. I can walk to the dealership I was able to book a while you wait one so I stayed. I also had a dashcam fitted so got lots to read up and an SD card to buy. Why don't they include one in the dashcam and include it in the price? Passed with no advisor's thankfully.
Called in at Tesco and Lidl after dealership visit. In Tesco 4 ancient grain rolls were £1 last week, tiger rolls 70p last week 75p today and cucumber 69p, mixed baby tomatoes £1.60 didn't buy either of the latter as I get those in Lidl. Lidl cucumbers 43p and mixed coloured baby tomatoes 99p. Never been one to worry too much about prices I think I need to watch out now! Both shops are within walking distance and almost in the same direction. Not so easy to walk and compare prices as it adds much time especially if I need to go back to first shop. I also topped up with petrol, still 143.9p per litre..........
Dry and cool here, washing line dried 😀 and a good dog walk.
Oh OH just looking through the dashcam box and thinks there maybe an SD card in the box. I foolishly thought it would be so easy and the dealership chap would know what's included.....
Off to do the ironing, that will be nice as it's chilly indoors so I've turned the heating up a couple of degrees 🤔.
OH has been watching the Winter Olympics just had very exciting finish to the Nordic Combined worth watching on catch up or highlights. I even broke off typing to watch because of the commentary.

There is some good walking up on the Campsies, and along the Forth Clyde Canal. Interesting places on the other side of the Campsies too.
Not too far to drive to Loch Lomond either, good walking on the east shore, and a good pub/restaurant in Balmaha.
Kirkintilloch itself is not a huge place, but does have some reasonable food shopping, and more further along the road in Bishopbriggs, Milngavie, and Bearsden.
If you have not been in Glasgow before, it is not far to go, and there is plenty to see there too. The main museums are free, though you may need to pay for parking, and the University and the Cathedral are also interesting.
NTS Pollock House and park are worth a look too.
When will you be up this way?

Not good news for us, nearest daughter has Covid, we were with her on Sunday evening, as she's teaching she has been surrounded by Covid so I suppose she has done quite well to get this far. Just hoping she's ok and we don't get it now.

All the best for your dental op tomorrow TDA.
B2, it's not good to see rising prices, although better if you're near enough to places to shop around. We grow quite a bit of veg at home and a huge bag of farm potatoes for £5 has seen us through several months, OH has grown some greenhouse lettuce this year, not bad tasting either. 🌿

Yep, good luck to Ttda tomorrow.
And to Nellie. Hope they can sort out his molar.
Had a lovely walk today. Longer than normal as we set off to the foothills of Moel Fammau and had a good circular walk that took in Loggerheads country park and the Leete, a fast flowing stream. Cool to start with but sunshine by the end. Felt all the better for it.
We've decided to have a holiday this week, but from home, as we only have 4 spare days before commitments early next week. So we're doing something different every day. No normal run of the mill stuff allowed. Today was first day. Mrs WN has some outdoor clothing to buy so we're off to an outlet village tomorrow. Yuk, but definitely different.

Thanks, Kjell. We've been to Loch Lomond a few times, and have visited Glasgow too, but it was a while ago, although we tend not to go into cities if we can avoid it. Pollack House is a good suggestion. We are looking to be there around the 18th March if all goes to plan, coming over from Beecraigs at Linlithgow.

Hope your daughter is OK Brue and she hasn't passed it on. The partner of my boss who is a carer is currently nursing a very elderly gentleman with Covid at home, she is using PPE but is keeping everything crossed that she doesn't catch it too.
We had our New food recycling bins delivered this week, we used to put food waste in with the garden waste but it is now being collected separately weekly and will go to produce bio fuel.
The young couple who used to live next door to us, until end of last year sent us a video of their daughter who has just started crawling today, it was lovely to see her.🙂
OH sterilised the water system and aquaroll today, we are heading off for a couple of days at the weekend, first trip to give the van an airing and check everything out.

Hope you don't catch the virus brue.
Sounds like a very pleasant walk today, WN. Best of luck with the expedition tomorrow.
Fingers crossed that all goes well with the treatment tomorrow, tda.
Had a phone call from the dentist offering a change of date following cancellations so hygienist for OH in the morning and the full gubbins for me on Friday. At least it should all be completed before the weekend, but should extra work be needed there will be time to get it done before we hopefully head off.
Much better day weatherwise, washing dried on the line and I finished cleaning the outside of the caravan.

So sorry to hear about your daughter brue and hope you dont get it. A friend contacted us yesterday to say that he has tested positive and feels 'mildly grotty' with a bad cold and feels tired. My cousin's husband also had it last week and said the same. I have a feeling it is a question of when not if we catch it especially now the government are relaxing the quaranteen rules 🤔. TG I hope your DIL and son will be OK as well. Good luck with the teenage grandchildren. I know how you feel.
You sound as though you had a really good birthday bakers2. Good weather as well.
I am sitting here with my heated throw on ☺. It is nice and toastie. OH gave it to me for Christmas presumably to save on the heating bill!

I'm sorry to hear about you having C19 in the family, Brue ~~ Just when the Blond Bomber (!!) says they might be dropping all the Rules & Regulations by the end of the month !!
I know what it's like cos my neighbour & her Hubby qualified only yesterday afternoon and I think I can still hear them grumbling about which caught it first and why ~~ certainly I believe that his pigeons have stuck a No Entry label over the keyhole !! { You keep C19 and we'll keep Avian Flu !
}But Keep Safe, Warm and Well Fed

Ha! My mutinous molar is gone. It had its last porridge and a good scrub this morning, then I sat quaking with one or two others (very quiet waiting room😕 everyone deep in thought) two jabs, ten pain free seconds later, the blighter was no more. Incredible really, no pushing, shoving or anything. Still numb at the moment, but doing fine, so thanks for all the thoughts.
Hope you are all ok brue🤞And TG’s family.
Fingers crossed for you now Nellie. Scotland sounds a lovely trip.
I am hoping to finish my little project today. All gone well so far, will post a couple of photos.

Well done tda. Wishing you well.

I forgot to ask for the tooth Brian. OH claims tooth fairy has to see the evidence to pay up, but I am sure I can persuade him otherwise🤣

Glad all went well TDA, OH had 4 wisdom teeth when he was 18 in the then small Malvern Cottage Hospital and had to walk only a few metres to the Theatre and get himself on the operating table, he looked like a hamster with pouches when I visited him the evening we laugh about now but was painful for a about a week and they gave him blancmange for pudding which he did not like.
A lovely sunny day here and could get upto 17C, more washing out and we had coffee sat outside trying to get some vitamin D. OH had his old passport this morning same as the new one sent via DHL so that is sorted.
Sorry to hear about your daughter brue and hope she soon recovers, our friend is ok but her OH had after her and was more poorly than she was and he has no patience as to be told to not do anything except rest but now ok again. Cases are still high here and now we have about a month of half term holidays so folks are out and about.
On our trip out yesterday we saw 7 motorhomes 5 Pilote and 2 Rapido's all parked in a local village Salle de Fete carpark so looks like they were doing something in the hall.

Having had a similar experience, I was like a hamster too Redkite, so I'm glad TDA's event went better! It felt like the long walk of doom to the operating theatre...(that was just one impacted wisdom tooth and it didn't want to come out
)Thanks for the kind wishes for our daughter who is feeling quite groggy, so she's staying in bed just now. Nine students were off with Covid in one of her classes last week but I have a feeling she felt she'd built up some resistance and then having decided not to have the third booster you can imagine we felt worried yesterday.
I wish Gov.uk would take it easy on the end of Covid pedal and give us all a bit more time to resist catching it.

I think I have been very lucky with my wisdom tooth. Local has worn off now, and I have no pain whatsoever. I have often had far more from a filing. I think because there was no pushing or pulling it’s not damaged much and it was so quick I didn’t have time to get an aching jaw. Just having lunch and a cuppa now, so hope things stay same this afternoon🤞
It makes no difference to us what restrictions are or aren’t in place. OH is facing another major op in a couple of months or so, he’s no spleen to help fight off infections, so we shall just carry on being careful, avoid crowds and those who have to have a lot of contact with children and young people. I hope that those that get it only have mild symptoms. It’s very hard for those like your daughter brue.
Frustrating at times, we hummed and hawed about tickets for Boro’s next FACup tie with Tottenham, but it’s just too risky for him. Fingers crossed it will be on the telly. Meantime, we have lots keeping us very busy, and do get the odd meet up with others like us, or who we fully trust👍😁

Little project…..finished or not🤔
Its an old school desk. The desk was given to me years ago by my BIL who was a teacher, and he salvaged one or two of the desks, when the school closed down in its past form, and amalgamated with another school. It’s also from the school attended by my OH, my younger BIL and my SIL, so who knows, one of them might have used it at some point. Years of graffiti, some fossilised chewing gum (didn’t we all do it🤣) and some drawing pins in the lid for that extra loud “slam”. I need a small work bench/storage area for my jewellery making, so decided to recycle this. Never tried decoupage before, and it takes some prep work, and then super fast on the paper applying, but I am quite please with results. Cost me around £5 to do. Good practice for next decoupage project…….an antique wardrobe and a rather nice but boring spare bed. Bit more practice first I think, 🤔 looking for an old chair to go with the desk now.

Glad to hear that OH can hear you loud and clear Ttda.
At least you won't be dribbling tonight.Miracles do happen. OH went into a shoe shop today!!! She absolutely hates them. Give her a visit to the dentist instead. Mind you it did only last about 30 seconds. We had a pleasant morning, if shopping for clothes can be considered pleasant, but did actually almost get everything we wanted and didn't take too long doing it. You can probably tell that it's not at the top of our to do lists. Back home for a late lunch then a quick walk locally.
I'm with you Brue on the covid restrictions being lifted.
Edit - Nice work Ttda.👍

Went into a card shop today, bought one card and paid in cash! First time cash payment in about a year, needed some change for some car parks.
Takethedog - WOW that looks lovely you are so clever, is it difficult? Would love to be able to do that.
0 -
No, it’s not difficult at all. I did lots of searching websites on techniques, materials to use, prepping, but in truth, you can end up reading too much. I just sanded down the desk and cleaned it up a bit. Had it been damaged, I would have done a bit of wood filling, but it was in great condition. Once sanded, carefully painted with chalk paint, dried, painted again, then the tricky bit. Decided to use tissue papers, fiddly, but a good effect. Have to be only one ply thickness, so once placed you cannot move easily. Glue dries quickly as well, so you need everything to hand, then go for it. Smoothed lightly by using a dry paintbrush, then glue on top again. I was going to Distress it, which involves sanding it again lightly, but I chickened out as it looks ok as it is.
I love doing such things, they don’t always work out, but this one did. OH is wondering if I could do a bike🙄🤔🤣

That's lovely tda. You are so talented.

Takethedogalong Glad your tooth has been removed fairly painlessly. We have a great dentist who manages to do things without 'being rough' and he's agreed we can keep wither him when we go until we find a new more local dentist.
Tge project has turned out beautifully, well done.
Edit this site is taking ages to refresh and load today, but posts are appearing immediately. It certainly is a little wayward one who operates to its own timetable!

Twice, recently, we've gone into our PO to get cash not notes, we've both totally run out of coins but are finding we need them again and our stash of car parking money had run out after all the lockdowns and card only requests.

I got fed up with having to have a bag full of shrapnel in the car for parking so went over to the Ringo app . Admittedly it's a wee bit more expensive , but has the advantages of carrying multiple registration numbers, and if you are at the wrong end of town and your parking time is running out , you can just top it up there and then.😀.

Got up to sprinkle of snow all nice and crunchy as it had frozen.
All gone by the time we were ready to go shopping. Fridge and freezer full to bursting 😁 we haven't done a shop like that for awhile as we have been cutting down on what we eat. It's finally starting to work as I have lost 4 lbs at long last, not easy loosing weight in winter😕 can't have the gKids going hungry.
TDA glad the tooth came out without a fight and no after effect. Desk looks good.
Brue sorry to hear your daughter has succumbed to Covid. Our DIL is a TA.
Like others I can't believe the latest drive to cut restrictions while cases are still very high. Although masks are still required in shops etc up here, we are noticing more and more folk no wearing them. In 1 shop this morning not 1 member of staff was wearing a mask.

We had a phone call from occupational health today ,to ask if they could visit ,to re assess the house and see how OH is coping ,with the additional aids so far installed,
It was suggested that may be a wheelchair may be off add help? But when they realised I had stents ,they suggested that an electric assisted one would be OK then decided it would be to heavy to be taken away with us
After a quick "huddle" it was decided that OH should try a 4wheel walker ,when we were out as it could be carried on the back of her buggy when away to use in buildings a smaller shops
So an hour later a 4 wheel walker was delivered ,for OH to take with us to FM

And they will give us a call when we are there, for an update

PVC ,will be ready for us next Thursday, trailer nearly loaded

Good to read that the extraction went well, tda, and that you have no adverse reaction. Your desk looks great.
More snow forecast for your area through the night and into tomorrow, TG. Hope that it isn't too bad.
Nice bright start to the day here, but rain this afternoon when I was out with Flyte. Glasses sorted, OH's visit to hygienist went ok, and I made a start on cleaning the inside of the van.
