We're doing the open studios till next Sunday WN, today we have another learning disabilities group. It's very wet outside so I'm going to open up our conservatory for their picnic lunch, plenty of room in there and a big table to gather round.
Do hope your respective Mums, WN and TDA continue to keep well for as long as possible.
Our local surgery got cracking early on flu jabs, much to everyone's surprise so most of us have been "done." Helped by the pharmacy next door doing walk in sessions. Unfortunately we had duplicate letters advising us of all this after we had the jabs....! But I suspect it will be longer for the Covid booster.
We're just hoping the fuel situation improves for our next m/h trip. There seems to be a revolving door problem with people filling up.

We have 2 fuel stations that I pass. 1 in our local Asda I have passed several times and the fuel umps have been in full use on every occasion. It does not look like a shortage to me but a panic. I have rarely seen such a high volume of custom. The local Shell garage seems similarly under siege.

I wonder if the press and the Government were to go quiet on the subject of the buying of fuel for 24 hours the problem would resolve itself? It is a self inflicted problem by those that mentioned it in the first place! Its perfectly natural for people to want to keep tanks topped up if they fear a shortage as you never know when you might have to make an unexpected urgent journey. It's not so much panic but self preservation. Fortunately both my car (as of yesterday) and motorhome (always fill up after a trip away) have full tanks so I won't be adding to the rush for a week or two and I suspect eventually many will be in the same position.

What waiting list for NHS services? ,spent most of the day at our nearest main Hospital with OH (bus driver dropped us off near the entrance,to save OH about 50yd walk) before usual bus stop
)Really thorough examinations and tests, even a CT scan,,several suggestions and theories?even gave us lunch

Nurse in charge said she would make some phone calls
Had a call from local assesment team yesterday evening ,to ask if one of the team could visit today .arrived right on time checked OH again (thats four times in 8days)and third time for house said her walking frame was the wrong size ,went away came back hour ago with two frames one to assist downstairs and the second to save me taking it upstairs,
Returning on friday to see how she is getting on and a programme to do when away in our tourer
Just before she knocked on the door had a call from contractor for Herts county council asking if he could come Thursday to install galvanised hand rail from public footpath to near front door ,and assitant hand grips on front door and in shower cubicle plus a ceiling to floor pole to assist in Bathroom
what a fantanstc service all round

JVB that's great news and service. Do everything you can to ease your load too! Not having to take things up and downstairs etc - it all really helps.
Cornersteady how close to the pumps can he get?
Topped up of car tank, only because we are off to view tomorrow, enough to get there and back but christening following week and THAT CAN'T BE MISSED 😉. So would have cancelled the viewing if I couldn't get any. Now enough for both trips and a bit to sparec🤞. Our Tesco only had super unleaded, well organised, someone telling you as you joined the queue, another directing on tge forecourt. Thanked them both and told them they were doing a great job. About 30 minutes start to finish.

JV, that’s good to hear you are getting some help. It’s surprising the amount of equipment that LA’s will provide free of charge once you are on the system. It all helps with independence.

I knew there was something wrong with your timing Brian.

.Tell me, is it exactly, or as near as makes no difference, 6 months since your second vaccine?
A day of heavy rain but some dry bits so we unloaded the car and most of the caravan except for the wardrobes, which will be done tomorrow. Had to do some food shopping, collect a couple of books from the library as well as returning all of those we took away and also called in to have Mrs WNs car have a diagnostic on an exhaust problem.
Tesco didn't have any fuel last night but by 10 this morning they had both lots and whilst it was busy it wasn't overflowing so Mrs WNs little runaround got filled with enough to run around in for the next fortnight.

Such wonderful service JVB. I am also most impressed with the service I am receiving as well. Good old NHS. We are now at Wells next the Sea. The static is very nice, very spacious. Good weather forecast for tomorrow and then rain ☹☔

Great service by all concerned, JVB.
Hope your mum is feeling better today, tda, and that your MIL is pleased with your early return, WN.
ABM, we too were able to book our C19 booster today after getting the text, but I did it by phone so as to get us both in around the same time.
Millie hope you enjoy your break away in Norfolk.
Very mixed weather here today, but mainly rain. This morning visited Port Isaac, with a rather damp walk around the village. Sat in the car at Port Gaverne having out sandwiches and watching 4 young ladies enjoying a swim in the sheltered cove. Then drove over to the NT car park at Pentire and walked down to Pentireglaze. The tide was in so couldn't walk round the headland to Polzeath beach. Rain started again just as we got back to the car and was hammering down by the time we got back to the site. Last night here before our next move down the coast.

Do you ever come across any Ruddy Duck in Spain AD? They were wiped out over here quite a while ago, as considered an unwanted visitor. I used to like Ruddy Ducks, the slapped the water with their beaks during mating.
Quite a good day with Mum. She seemed totally fine all day. However Sis says she has been complaining of stomach pains again this evening. Will see how tomorrow goes, phone Docs Thursday if she’s no better. So hard getting information from her.
A nice morning weather wise, but heavy rain all afternoon. Tomorrow looks ok though.

Glad all is looking good Millie, and hope that you manage to sort out Flyte's eye problem, Nellie. Hope everyone else is well too, and in spite of today's rain, the weather has been generally quite mild, I think.
We've spent part of the morning moving our caravan from one storeage site to another. Our current storeage closes on 30th September, as the owners of the lease (Severn Trent) have sold the land. The storeage folk have managed to find a new location for caravan storeage and have spent the last few months landscaping and putting in excellent security etc.
It'll be a few weeks before we can get out in the caravan, once more, as we have a busy time coming up. There seems to be lots going on!

WN, first vaccination was on 13th Jan
2nd vaccination was on 31st March -- 11 weeks
Booster Vaccination 29th Sept -- about 26 weeks ?? { Sorry not enuff fingers
}Nellie, did mine on the NHS stated site and that gave me a full list of available times and dates. I could have, if I needed to, pick consecutive slots or even two hours apart in order to allow the echoes of ABM's screaming and whimpering to die away.

After reading that some had been invited for their flu vaccine I phoned our GP surgery to enquire how they would invite us this year and when it was likely to be. We normally don’t get an invite, just a poster put up in the surgery, then we have to phone to make an appointment, as no one can visit now I wondered how they would do it this year. Nice receptionist said, ‘we are only just thinking now about how we will do them all and when, there are 7,500 to do so it could be a while, you might want to talk to the pharmacy’ This didn’t fill me with hope. Part of the problem is they have built new estates all around what used to be our little village but the surgery and Drs haven’t been increased. Hoping the appointment for the Covid booster will come direct from the NHS site as did the initial ones.

I've had my flu vaccine this week, DEBSC. I booked the date a few weeks back after getting a letter/email from Lloyd's Chemist. I booked into the Lloyd's at out local Sainsbury's. If I had waited for our local Doctor's Surgery, I reckon it would be at least another 6 weeks down the line - at which time it would be around the same time as I expect to be called for the Covid booster. I wanted to avoid a 'clash' of injections!!! 🤣🤣

Petrol stations up here still very busy a couple are even closed luckily I filled the Volvo up at the weekend and we are just doing local trips so should be ok. We are due to head down to Chester at the end of next week but we are seriously considering postponing it and going in November instead if the fuel issue has settled down. Is it bad down that way too? Not sure what to do just don’t want to go then be struggling to get around or get back home if we can’t get fuel one good thing about delaying is that the Christmas market will be open which would be nice to visit.
Nellie - We love Port Issac we always make a point of visiting when we are down that way we are big fans of Doc Martin so always nice to visit also the pub near the harbour area is nice

We only pass 3 fuel stations regularly, all are open and none have had queues.
We still have at least a half tank in each car, but are due to take the van to North Berwick in 10 days time for DD and family to use, so will need to fill up soon. Half a tank will get us there with the van, and us home again, but would not be enough to get us back to fetch the van and home again.
Holding off filling at present, and using only the Smart car.

We have always had our Flu jabs at our surgery and our latest ones were on Monday of this week. Both boys are having theirs within the next week, one at work and one at a Pharmacy. We were told when we had the Flu jabs that we would hear from the NHS as we did for the first two vaccinations, they won't be done at the surgery but at one of the vaccinations centres in MK. Our second COVID jab was exactly five months ago, so still a month to go if they want to do it six months after?

Ref Covid boosters. Most of the info has been posted on our local surgery web site, looks like we'll be able to book boosters on line when we get a call or a letter.
Having a couple of hours off this morning, cleaning up and tidying. We had our second group of learning disabillties people yesterday they had a lovely time having an indoor picnic and making prints in the little studio area. Micky the guide dog came once more and also a very friendly, very furry collie who is often a companion to the groups....the only problem was a deluge of rain, I got totally soaked and the dogs needed drying off too. The visitors either live in small residential homes or with their families, throughout the week they normally visit a local art and craft unit, spending a day there. The unit is busy every day with these small groups. So the Open Studios have provided different days out for them too. We loved seeing them all, very friendly and fun company!
The sun has come out today, where was it when we needed it?!

Glad your days with learning difficulties groups went well brue as I may have said before I spent 15 years working with learniing difficulties in Bridgwater area and West Huntspill thoroughly enjoyed my time there and when you show people how to to do gardening and grass cutting it is very rewarding and all gone Aldi now on the Enterprise Resource Centre in Bridgwater and now a lot is run by an outside company and has gone downhill I have heard from an old colleague worked with term for awhile and retired due to ill health and had a lot of agro from the new company.
Getting ready for our trip tomorrow 1st site just below Limoges for 2 nights and then 8 nights at Obterre near Loches before coming back home, weather has gone a lot cooler so autumnal clothes for me as OH does not do summer or winter clothes and said to him do you want a long sleeve fleece no thanks was the answer he hates long sleeved clothing all his shirts are short sleeved and does not do tee shirts either but all ok by me as now packed in the caravan.

Chucked it down again this morning. This afternoon has been much brighter and allowed us to completely empty the inside of the caravan so just needs a good cleaning, same with outside.
Lovely to hear of your visitors Brue.
Wish I could get some oomph from somewhere. Anyone got some to spare?

On the subject of fuel shortages, ended up in Reading area for the past week and most garages had long queues and or no fuel. Was down to the last sniff of an oily rag when we saw one that was open, had modest queue which we joined and had a petrol tanker on its forecourt delivering fuel. 30 minute wait and we were away with a full tank.
It was quite nice driving along the M25 with only a modest flow of traffic on it.
