Plusnet have been around for years before BT took them over. I remember when they were Force9. I have been with them for years now and have just renewed my contract with them and a slightly lower rate than before. Fortunately the service side remains independent of BT and is pretty good. We retain our landline phone as we can't always rely on a mobile signal in the house and also we don't always hear the mobiles ring unless they are near by! In the house we have a set of Panasonic phones and they all ring together so we tend not to miss the calls.
Yesterday Margaret dropped off a sharps box at the surgery and just happened to mention the Flu jabs, we have our appointments on Monday. It still annoys me a bit that since COVID we seem to have to do all the chasing for such things. My neighbour took her +90 year old mother for her COVID booster jab the other day. Given the time line we should be due for ours at around the end of October. I assume that the NHS will contact us direct as they did for the original vaccinations?

Glad that you got sorted Nellie. It seems that everyone is in our neck of the woods this year. Posts on here from Bideford, Hartland, Fremington etc. We live a mile from Instow. Dog heaven, not much good for bathing, due to the water quality, but so many dogs taken there for exercise. They did try to ban them last year but the local dog walkers were up in arms and they then allowed them back, which was good. Us - we escaped to our static van at Stratford Upon Avon for another few weeks. Caught up with relatives and friends, bbq’s and meals out with them, all very sociable. Visited the usual NT properties and also a visit to Compton Verney, which we really enjoyed. Now catching up on tidying the autumnal looking garden. Also trying to entice back the garden birds, who haven’t been fed for a few weeks and are clearly sulking. Maybe some walks on the beach next week, we haven’t ventured there this summer, it has been too busy.

Brian, I can go one better than you, our surgery looks similar but has IVY growing inside one of the windows!! I presume the whole reception area will soon need people to arrive with secatuers and loppers!! Hack your way in will take on it's original meaning.

Robsail and Triky, enjoy your respective breaks, at least there are no worries about apps, forms and tins of ham!
That said it's good to hear from those travelling "over there." Hope the rain in Spain stays mainly in the whatsit.
Glad you got fixed up Nellie. Safe journeys for all travelling.
Back outside for me now, another day minding the studio, tomorrow we get the relief party and some musicians.
Another nice day here. I've done my early morning sweep up of Rowan berries, I think the blackbirds are deliberately throwing them at me!

We will get notifications re Flu jab after 26th October and will take paperwork to the Pharmacie and collect the vials and could been done there or our Cabinet Medical, as to the Corvid Booster OH has booked them online for 1st December and at the Salle de Fete in Villefranche where we had the two previous jabs.
David OH has to take his sharps box to the local council tip to a specific area although he can collect a new box from the Pharmacie.
Another lovely warm day here upto 28C and then from pm tomorrow storms and then it will be much cooler, OH going to trim some shrubs for me whilst I finish off the housework, did quite a bit of gardening yesterday and glad to get plants in before we go away next Thursday.
Have a good weekend folks and stay safe.

Here the blackbirds can see daft at items. We have a large pyracanthus and when it is in fruit often see blackbirds flying up from the ground to take one in flight. often they take one and knock off two. Instead of eating the two that have fallen they make the effort of flying up and grabbing one. The cycle repeats with loose berries scattered. I know of several people who collect proportion of the Rowan berries and freeze to feed later in the year

My eldest daughter was assaulted by her now ex-boyfiend a few weeks ago, (noted typing error and left it as it might have been a Freudian slip). The police were aware of her health situation and the fact that her condition was flaring up. My eldest has a heart condition. She had been trying to get an appointment at her GP for nearly a week with repeated promises of a phone call and an appointment would be given. She had a visit from her victim support lady yesterday to see how she was and when she heard of the problems with the local surgery drove there herself and put a rocket under them resulting in an appointment this morning for tests and a a face to face consultation this afternoon. The lady is driving my daughter to and from these appointments

So sorry to hear that Easy. It’s hard enough having to deal with health problems without having to deal with abusers as well. All of this will no doubt erode her confidence too. Such a worry for you as well. Good that victim support are on the ball and finally getting her health appointments sorted. So nice that she is also taking her to the appointments. I wish her well and hope that she soon recovers from the attack, both physically and mentally.

Pleased to hear at least some good news there for you both, Alan and JVB
.The birds round here are also sulking but I think it's because I've ordered, and received, a supply of food for the little darlings . Usual supplier Haiths, but a different mixture purely to keep their appetites whetted, never for financial reasons of course

Things can only get better ?,health wise, had phone call from specialist clinic at our main hospital at Stevenage, want to see OH on Monday at 1000hrs
Now trying to get my annual fasting blood test appointment changed ,as that was at 09 20 the same day,, no longer a drop in clinic ,

Doctor phoned just before lunch to tell me she did not realise I had heart problems but had just been checking on my file? To tell me I must not attempt to lift OH if she falls again but to 999 for an ambulance, she was also advising of clinic appointment for OH

I echo Debscc sentiments as well Easy, dreadful for anyone, and family members in that situation.
We seem fortunate at the moment. All got our flu jabs organised for mid October, and Mum has her C19 booster this afternoon. My letter from hospital arrived for my wisdom tooth, so hopefully I can get in before long to see what they are going to do.
And finally, after another merry go round of being passed from pillar to post, dotted the t’s and crossed the i’s on our new Virgin contracts.

JV, do your family know that your OH is having falls? You might not want to bother them, but might be better to keep them in the loop, as a little bit of help every now and then is easier than days and hours spent worrying if she does hurt herself has has to go into hospital. My Mum would never bother us at first when Dad had the odd fall, he was 6ft 3in, she a little waif of 7.5 stones. Once we got involved, we were fortunate. In Dad’s case we shifted a slippy bedside rug, got him some slippers that fitted and got his bifocals changed. Not saying your situation is same (be good of it was really), but they might be able to help in some way. I hope all goes well for your OH, it’s a big worry for you as well.
My Mum and Dad were too independent for their own good really. Never wanted to bother us, but remained unsure of what help they could get in a variety of ways. A few simple changes made life a lot easier for all of us.

Thank you for your concern, yes the children and grand children are all aware., they have very busy family lives, not sure if they are completely in the loop
as OH tends to gloss over most things
Have managed to get another appointment for blood test i took a look at all the online booking systems, Best I could get was at Hertford County hospital at 11.25 next Friday ,so it will be a late breakfast as I need to fast before Tests

Sorry to hear of your daughter's problems EasyT.
The frontline staff are usually excellent in the NHS but getting to see them is becoming harder by the day. My own appointment problems pale into insignificance with your daughter's. Well done to her support lady.
I hope the situation improves for her, and yourself.
ps this is the second attempt at posting so if the first one suddenly appears ignore one of them.

We arrived here on site just after 5 only a short 35 min tow from home site is very busy it’s quite warm outside but a bit dull. SWMBO had the good idea of fish and chips for dinner so that’s what we done lovely they were and no dishes to wash tonight. I’m planning on meeting an old work colleague tomorrow for a pint and think SWMBO will go round the shops.
jHope everyone else is having a nice weekend

Had a very pleasant last day here. Drove to Devizes, parked up and walked down past the Caen locks and a good few miles along the canal path. Beautiful autumn sunshine and a bit of bite to the wind until lunchtime. Called in for a pint of Wadsworth 6X, one of the few bitters I can drink. A real treat for me.
Early afternoon was spent in the town. On the way in we past a Car Wash place. We were walking and stood astonished as we noticed the car washer using a Power Spray on the inside sills of the doors and boot. He just opened the door and sprayed the inside. Of course none of that water would have found itself into the seats or items in the boot would it? Whoever was paying for the privilege was getting a full inside wash at the same time. Both of us must have looked a sight to anyone seeing our expressions.
(sums it up).The Owls are hooting as I write. This CL has been a very acceptable place to stop and we would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Caravan was fine, tda, but Flyte's eyes are not much better, poor thing. Still some eye drops left so will just have to see if they do the job in the end, fingers crossed.

Actually it works fine Wherenext. Our local car wash place used to do it when we took ours, and because it’s so directional no water comes in, we know this as we sit inside while they do the washing. Of course, those were the days BC (before Covid), they don’t open any doors now, thankfully. If I pressure wash the car myself, I wash the sills the same way.

Good to hear that you got your jab, WN. Did you have to pay for it or did they take your age into consideration, being a pensioner now?
,Good to hear that others are getting their jab and tests sorted out, and pleased to hear that your mum has had her C19 one, tda.
ET, so sorry to hear of your daughter's problems. Her support worker seems to be looking after her well now.

Cheeky blighter!
I was more concerned as to whether I qualified with living in Wales but even though I couldn't remember my NHS number it didn't matter. Free of Charge. So, happy bunnies.Bit fed up with our surgery. First of all they told me they didn't have any vaccines for over 65's, then when I asked how the other surgery in town did have them they backtracked and said they were for people who qualified last year only. I pointed out that I had "qualified" for the last 25 years but still couldn't get one as they suddenly claimed all the spots had gone! Managed to get Mrs WN an appointment for the under 65's but she wasn't pleased that it was before 9 o'clock in the morning!

Are you leaving yours until you go home or getting them whilst away if you can?

Sounds like a good day, WN, have a safe journey up the road tomorrow.
We will see if we can get one somewhere, although we are reluctant to go into any town if we can avoid it. Might look up phone number of a pharmacy in Wadebridge and give them a ring and see what they say.
We had a good trip down to Chapel Ashton to another new CL to us. Site is full tonight, and talking to one of the other vanners it's been like that for a while. There is a separate large field used for camping without EHU that would appeal to tda and CY, similar to Court Farm.

A day off from house clearing and a bike ride to Whitley Bay. The sun came out after 10 and it got quite warm, perfect weather in fact. I wonder where the City of Oslo was off to?

Nellie, Numark said they were only doing them by appointments and this is the second Numark to say that.
The Boots today also said it was by appointment but it was only a 20 minute wait and to be honest there was only 2 other people in the shop so I was happy to wait. Might be best to get an appointment first before going into anywhere.
Hope Flyte's eyes improve.

Thanks, WN, we'll do that.
Just noted a predictive text error.....We are on a CL at Chapel Amble.

nelliethehooker sorry to hear Flyte's eyes are not much better. Dora had a bit of a problem earlier, the suspected a pollen allergy, it was when the grasses were longer and pretty. 2 lots of drops, second lot with Piriton, worked really well, in fact if you were this way I could give you some of them!
EasyT sorry to hear about your daughter and glad she's getting some support. Far too much of it about 😡🤬. I do hope she reports it and she has the strength to take it further. Not easy for you either.....
Been another glorious say here once the grey cloud burnt off and the chilly wind dropped. Long may it continue 🙂. We had a lovely afternoon with friends and are feeling more a more positive about things 🤞🤞
Enjoy your weekend folks

The only thing we have heard re Flu vaccinations is that they will not be done by our GP. No doubt we will get details eventually.
Out shopping today, first big shop in 4 weeks. Got most stuff, but road works in the village meant we ran out of time and had to give up on Tesco and Aldi.
OH has started the post holiday washing marathon, I still have stuff to get out of the car and caravan. DD and family are using it in the school October week, 9th-15th, so we will need to get all our stuff out and do some cleaning before then.
OH has made contact with the builders re our bathroom renovation, so hopefully they will come next week to discuss and give us a price, then, if we can afford it, they will start in 2-3 weeks.
DS has them at present, doing his shower room, so going there on Sunday to see how it is going. Need to fit in a visit before they go off to Islay for the holiday week, we have not seen them since June....I think. Seems like ages anyway.
Smart car booked for service and MOT, next thing is to contact gas engineer re a new boiler, and to book a dental appointment as part of a filling has fallen out of one of my teeth.
Not a great day for weather , still need a nice dry day to spread out the awning to dry, it was still pretty wet when packed up before we left Oban.

We had a lovely lunch out on Thursday with some friends that we met on a camp site in France many years ago. However as we were driving home when I started to feel very unwell - right hand not working, speech slurred etc so OH decided to drive me straight to A&E. I was most impressed with how swift they were to come out to the car and get me in for assessment. Luckily the symptoms started to subside. I am told it was a TIA. I went in at about 4,30 and after various tests and seeing various doctors I was eventually allowed home at 10.00 pm. I am now on their system though and have various tests etc scheduled. Although I now feel absolutely fine they want to try and make sure it doesn't happen again. Youngest son is on his way over from NI for a few days arriving at lunchtime.
So sorry to hear about your daughter's problems EasyT. Though it sounds as though she has a very good support worker.
Gosh what a 'lottery' it is over the flu jabs. I expect it will be much the same over the covid boosters.
