Sounds like a wonderful event Brue, and well done to your family for organising/ hosting it.

We have a neice and her partner who to date hasn’t bothered to get her jab yet. Not anti vaxxer, she’s an intelligent individual, very laid back character. She’s also a school teacher, with a small child of her own, and is getting married next year. Her parents have tried to suggest it would be a good thing, no heavy pressure, but are utterly at a loss at to why they simply won’t have the vaccine. Her partner has had Covid, very mild. They simply don’t think it will affect them. Not an easy mindset to shift. You just pray they don’t end up becoming a statistic, or one of those “we wish we had listened” headlines. Sometimes it takes a near tragedy to get the message across sadly. 🤷‍♀️

Not boring at all, Brue ~~ We need to know how the world outside our own very limited range is getting on.

I think I understand your feelings wrt the grandson BUT we cannot force them to accept the jabs as long as they do regular testings to be as certain as possible they are not passing C19  on to those around them, fragile or not.

All your posts about the studio sessions have been very interesting, brue. You and your daughter have obviously done a great job. Time for a rest now, I think.

Tda, good to read that you are recovering from your malaise.

There's not a lot one can do but encourage those that haven't as yet had a vaccination to get it done, if not for themselves then at least to help protect their loved ones. We have been fortunate in that all our family have had both jabs, even our grandson was eager to get his done.

I do find it sad to hear/read about those who refuse to be vaccinated.  Far be it from me to force my opinions on anybody, but being vaccinated isn't just about yourself, it's also about those family members and friends you care about.

As ttda said, I too have read about people who wished they'd had the vaccine, but by then it was too late; how devastating for their families.

.....as far as I'm concerned  if it's free, I'll have it....   🤣🤣🤣.  Waiting for the call for the booster now....  I'll give them until the end of October and if I haven't heard by then  I'll start making 'enquiries'.. 😉😉

The week has gone "pear shaped" and it is only Monday!

While eating breakfast, we got a distress call from DD, her car was making ominous noises when turning right, and she was sitting outside the nursery, having just dropped off Callum, and was now worried to drive it.  And today she usually takes Nathan to a baby music session several miles away.

After some discussion, we suggested she drive home (only a couple of miles) slowly then ring the Volvo garage, see what they had to say, and meanwhile I would come down with our VW to transport them.  OH had to stay home as we were expecting the gas man at 1pm for a boiler quote.

By the time I got there she had arranged for me to take the car to the garage while she followed in our car, then we would go on to the music session.

That went OK, but on the way home we had 2 phone calls.     One  from the tenants in her flat to say the CH had just broken down, and then one from our gas man to say he would be late as he had an emergency callout.  As it was near DD's flat, he is now going there afterwards, and we will just have to wait for our boiler quote.

So she has a car, which is essential with 2 little ones to transport, OH will bring down the Smart (only a 2 seater)  for SIL to use to get to work, and DD will use his car.

Hopefully the  Volvo place will be able to fix her car as they are due to go on holiday on Saturday, and SIL's car is a bit small to carry all their stuff!

And hopefully the repair will not be too expensive.     Her  car is 19 years old and not worth much now, but she cannot really afford a new one right now as she is on maternity leave with no income at present.

Sounds like Rescue and Recovery is required for your daughter’s car K. And possibly a Landlord’s contract for any emergencies that might arise on the flat. Might save a lot of hassle long term. Hope things get sorted as stress free as possible for you all. 😁

Into Chester to the dentist for a long arranged 6 monthly check up. Have a return visit in two weeks time to fix the broken tooth problem, which touch wood hasn't given me any trouble since its break 2 weeks ago.

Popped into a bike shop en route and returned there after the dentists and ordered 2 new e-bikes, which, due to supply issues, won't be available for a couple of months yet. No problem for us. They'll save us about 9 kgs per bike. Whilst chatting to one of the maintenance men there he mentioned his own racer, which non electric set him back the best part of £13,000.surprised Expensive hobby.

Chester still has its one way system in place. Anyone coming into town by car needs to know it's clockwise. Traffic quite light in the city today. Maybe people are saving fuel.

    Mixture of sunshine and showers.

Good luck with all the hassle Kj. You'll need it.

My wife won't thank me for this..... but then, she doesn't use CT, so won't know....

When we went up to the Hebrides at the end of August, we took 2 cars.  Carol left hers in the car park on Skye and I took mine across.  I came back after a week and Carol stayed on with our daughter, eventually coming back on the ferry to Skye as a foot passenger.

Car started first time, but she couldn't get it into reverse.  She got a couple of men from CalMac to push her out of the car space, and she made her way home..... only going forwards.  The day after arriving home my car had to go in for a service and MOT.  Carol followed me in hers and I asked the mechanic at the garage to have a quick look.  He got in and immediately put it into reverse and it worked first time, exclaiming, that there was nothing wrong with the car.

While she was on Lewis/Harris, she drove my daughters car.... reverse was lift and push down towards the driver.... (you now all know where this is going!!).  In her car reverse was lift and push away from the driver.....  well you can guess what she was doing.....  There is lots of teasing mileage in this!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣  Just glad she didn't ring Mayday!!!   😀😀😀

Oh that made me laugh😂 The number of blinking gear boxes and different reverse positions I have had to negotiate down the years!

My all time most embarrassing moment was nothing to do with a gearbox though. Our first MG had a natty little isolation key added to it as an anti theft device. I was at work one day, out in the sticks, just finished a meeting. Got back into car, turned on isolation device, got comfy in car, turned ignition.....nothing. I tried and tried, bonnet up, cursed it a la Basil Fawlty, hit the starter motor with a big spanner....still nothing. So I phone the cavalry, who duly arrived. Nothing. Then the cavalry turned the isolation key the other way.....brum brum. I hadn’t turned it off initially, but turned it off when I got back in to go home😬 Our current MG also has an isolation switch, I was reminded last week.

Oh my goodness, the trials with the cars and also the mask made me laugh!

I really enjoyed hearing all about your Open Studios brue but I expect you are you are now enjoying a well deserved rest.

Bakers2  I am so sorry to hear of your trials with moving. I do hope that it all comes right for you very soon.

The last day of our break at the coast on Saturday was a complete washout but before that we had a had great day at Pensthorpe and also a lovely walk the beach at Wells next the Sea. Back home now.

She has breakdown cover TTDA, but when you have an 8 month old, things to do and places to go, calling Dad is quicker!  Especially if you need to borrow a car to use as well.

The car is now going to be looked at as soon as the Volvo specialist, who have been looking after it  for many years now, can fit it in.  Seems it is probably a spring gone, to quote the garage......" not terminal, but not cheap"

The boiler situation is well under control, we have our regular and reliable  gas boiler  man who installed said boiler and services it every year, and does the gas safety checks, he attended within hours and has diagnosed the fault as a broken PCB, so that will be a fair cost.  Should be fixed on Thursday.

We however have been bumped down the queue as a boiler replacement quote is not urgent!

Lovely reading everyone's posts. Nice to hear everyone is still busy and enjoying life.

We've been bouncing around Spain for a few days, stopped off  at Aranjuez for a couple of days, nice site but why oh why did we go at the weekend.surprised Friday night lots of Spanish families and groups of teenagers arrived. No trouble but oh why are they so noisy laughing

Had a good drive down to the coast just south of Alicante, dropped in to have a look at the Marjal Guadamar site but decided not for us. So we are now at Lo Monte.

We've stayed here before so know its suits us. Site was busy when we arrived but lots of Spanish left that day. Arrivals of other European units are expected for the rest of the week. Most staying for the winter, we have been lucky to get a good pitch, huge in fact.

Going to stay until next week. Its a holiday here next Tuesday but most will take a break from Friday night so best to stay put until its over. I think we will then start working our way back north.

Sites are surprisingly busy, no so many Brits but lots of Spanish vans out and about. Seems they have been enjoying themselves while everyone else have been unable to travel. They have had their pick of sites, not usual to see them out at this time of year.

Fine day but a rather horrible evening with torrential rain for a while, although it has slackened off somewhat and it's just pouring down now😵

Visited Godolphin Estate today, our first time there, and judged it just right as the NT only open the house for a few days at the start of every month. Walked up to Godolphin Hill before going round the gardens before lunch, and then into the house. They were only allowing groups of 12 through each quarter of an hour so plenty of social distancing. There were not too many people about as it was so no concerns. Called in at Lidl in Penzance to restock before a short walk on the prom. All the garages we passed appeared to have fuel and there were no queues.

Just glad she didn't ring Mayday!!!

David, after our experience with them it probably would have turned out that the mechanic they sent wouldn't have known how to fix the apparent problem any way.!!!

Kjell hope all is well now with your daughter's car. Good to read that you have a friendly boiler engineer, it's good have one of those about.

I had to smile that FB staff couldn't even get into the building, you'd think they'd leave the key with reliable neighbours...wink

I use Whatsapp but not to a big extent.

Terrible storm here last night, no wonder there is flooding in some places.

Glad to hear you've enjoyed your Norfolk stay Millie.

KJ many of us would love your "boiler man!" We still haven't managed to get our new boiler (well over two years now) serviced with British Gas...must get onto them once more.

I feel for you and yours, DEBSC, sadly my eldest nephew went down that road 18 months ago after struggling for years.  He didn't take care of himself in any way or form and eventually his body just gave out.  He was sectioned in the end but still faded away & died in Macclesfield hospital despite the care of doctors & close family.  You can only do your best for folks, in the end they have to find that little bit of 'goodness' in themselves to latch on to, so that any help they get has a sound base to start from.

Saw a nice bit of Good News on Shropshire local news to please you all especially Goldiesmile

Somebody gave a sheep to Market Drayton Auction t'other day with the intention that it be sold and the money was to be given to charity { I don't know which charity }. it turned out that it was sold ELEVEN TIMES and each time put straight back into the sale ring !!  Poor creature probably ended up not knowing if it was a calf or a porker !! money-mouth
