Hope things get better for you D, so worrying what happens to some youngsters nowadays. I hope you get the help you need. Hope your friend is ok as well JV.

Nellie, hope you enjoyed Godolphin. You can’t always get into the house, as it’s used as a holiday let, so you dropped lucky. The house was still privately owned when we went round, and the lovely owner Mrs Schofield, insisted on showing us all her Poldark filming scrapbooks from the 1970’s, which were very very interesting. She had a wonderful old dog called Bosun, a huge (and I mean HUGE) Mastiff. You could hear him baying all through our visit. He had a bad bellyache and the vet was sorting him out!🤣 Not sure what the gardens are like now, but one area had been turned into a gorgeous Elizabethan flower cutting garden. Estate is nice as well, especially down along the River. It was our regular morning walk with the dogs at one time. Red River!

Sorry JVB, I missed the bit about your friend, I'm sure she is in good hands but a worry for you all.

We are busy today, just finished sorting accounts for OH's job as fishing club membership secretary. Just about every day he has requests for membership and frequent visits to places which sell the club licences. It has become a more popular pastime through Covid and after. He has little spare time for fishing himself but it's a pleasant hobby for many (the fish get put back and much is learnt about the state of our rivers etc.) He's not keen on pond fishing.

Daughter has a day off and is delivering art works bought by locals at the studio event. She is also exhibiting near Doncaster and is sharing an art show in Somerset later on, so always on the go. I daren't tell OH yet but we have some repairs to do in our room after the art works came down from the walls.....surprised we tried putting some work up with velcro....as seen on TV, however it takes the paint off so not recommended even if it works and looks good!!

My very best wishes as well DEBSC. We have family history of people being sectioned and not knowing good advice when given. It certainly gives you a different perspective on life when you visit someone in a Mental Institution.

Apparently the Facebook outage was purely down to an internal recognition problem. As for the Staff why didn't they look under the Mat?

Autumn well and truly arrived today. Into town today as MiL had a hair appointment and we needed food. More work done around the house, pretty boring. Anyone else had the depressing email about energy from Martin Lewis? Bad news. I did see an advert over the weekend from USwitch telling people NOT to switch or try.

No word about any vaccinations here, and we are both in our 70s,  We were also late in having our original vaccinations.

It seems to be appointments being made exactly 180 days after second vaccine here in Wales. If not convenient they'll rearrange but only for a later date not earlier.

I was late with my first one for some reason,  but second one was 8 weeks later, so it will be 6 months in only 4 days time.

Yes we were fortunate with the dates. The garden was still there but a bit late in the season really, and responds have dried up. Didn't get down to the river, will save that for another visit.

Bit of Poldarking today with a visit to Geevor and Levant mines, although we did go down either, and then along to Zennor and walked over to the Head and then into the church. Thankfully it was fine most of the time although a little blowy after a very wet night.

Had a 'confused' sort of day today  undecided

Phone call early doors to say don't visit aged Sis 'cos she will be off to Honda store { now converted to farmer see } for her booster jab.  So stayed in doing housework {!!} and neighbourly things. After lunch took aged One her magazines but did not stop cos I've still got traces of last weeks sniffles, went food shopping instead. Parked up outside M & S food hall and sat listening to a couple of good tunes on Classic.FM  when a white VW camper pulled up on the road by me. He waved, I waved back { not a clue as to who he was undecided }. He kept on waving so I wound down the driver-side window and he shouted in a thick Irish accent -- ' I like your camper, I'll give you twenty thousand ( £20k ) for it.'

Now why did Brian think it was a scam in the making  wink.

Still I wound the window up and waited 'til he went away, then went into M & S but obviously not kept my mind on the business in hand --  it was a cold, wet, windy day and despite that I got myself a half dozen mini-meals and a bloomin' salad . Only realised what I had done when I was packing at the check-out embarassed. Dont know if any neighbours have rabbits or guinea pigs -- might just  off load it on them, perhaps !!

No word on the car as yet, SIL is using our Smart and DD has his VW Polo, which is a bit short on space for all the holiday needs.  As a precaution, she has just been here with a pile of stuff for us to bring in our car!

The  boiler engineer is excellent and came via the fellow who has fitted decking for us, so we have been using him for about 9 years now.  Always good to get a personal recommendation.

We had a bit of a problem in the caravan yesterday, next week's holiday was hanging in the balance.

OH sent me out to turn on the heating in the van to air it and have HW for cleaning.  Started OK, but when I went back after half an hour it had stopped.   No life in the Alde control panel (which is not the original one but was new 4 years back.

Checked the various fuses......all OK,  checked  the thermal fuse on the PCB....also OK, then disconnected  all the 12v and 230v power and left it for 30 minutes, and it sprang back into life when I reconnected everything. 🙂

A few minutes later it stopped again.  😢

Having had the "Alde blank panel" syndrome back in 2015, due to the  non resettable thermal fuse going, we had to have the PCB on the boiler replaced at great expense, but I had kept the old PCB and replaced the thermal fuse.   New fuse...... £1, new board, fitted...... well over £200.   I had not however tried it to see if it would actually  work again, but my testing had led me to believe it should.

Took only a few minutes to swap the PCBs, and the control panel sprang back into life, phew!!    It has now been running for 24 hours, so hopefully that is it fixed, meantime anyway.

I have ordered several spare fuses!

Fingers securely crossed for you Kj  !!

Ain't life weird !!  Just spent an energetic hour making my bed " Winter Worthy " and sat down on here to recover some energy when DING DING -- front door bell. So a slow descent to see who dares keep me off CT yell only to find another Irish bod offering me oodles of boodle for the Ducato, apparently the father of yesterdays M & S car park chappie ~~ still took a while to convince him he'd do better elsewhere.

Now after the bed sorting and scampering { very slowly these days } down and up stairs I'm almost ready for doing a lengthy bed test wink !!

Isn't that the third approach Brian? Why not log these events on 101 just as a precaution, sounds like they are pestering you. Hope you're cosy for the winter too! We've just been putting things away, outdoor umbrellas, outdoor seat cushions washed for storing etc and the little room in the garden is now back to normal (except for some wall patching..) Daughter's partner has been here making more apple juice, nice day to be outside!

Hope the heating holds up KJ, our dread for late in the year trips although we just have standard heating, after it went pear shaped in Norfolk two years ago we take a little fan heater as back up.

Local literary festival coming up here soon, quite a collection of speakers ranging from Joan Bakewell to Fergie....have decided to hear what Michael Portillo has to say about life....wink

How did he track you, Brian? I find that concerning.

When us oldies reach this stage of our lives, some folk think we are ga-ga and try to take advantage.

As has been said, I would certainly alert the police to these events and secure the van as far as possible.

Thanks brue, I hope so too!   The holidaymakers are aware that they may end up with no HW unless they boil a kettle, but are OK with that.  They are not on a serviced pitch this time, so will be trying to minimise water use in the van anyway.

They will be warm enough though as we too always carry a small fan heater, and were very glad of it one April high up in the Black Forest when the Alde system sprang a leak, it was below zero overnight.  Not having HW is then the main problem, had I not been able to fix the leak, using the parts shipped to us via Red Pennant, we would probably have had to abandon the trip.

We live in what the police describe as a very low crime area ?,just recently there were a spate of thefts ,mostly tools and equipment from works vans,

Many houses and other properties have cctv and doorbell cameras.  And when checked after a police request

,it was noticed that two regular vehicles had been seen on several occasions In the early hours, driving slowly around the area, ,both number plates had been reported and traced to a "permanent"? traveller camp , when raided most of the stolen property was recovered

Evidently it is a regular modus operandi by that group in many parts of the country

Salamanca really is a beautiful city isn't it. We visited it 5 years ago now and loved it. Glad you liked it to,  definitely worth another visit.

You must be getting ready for your crossing, hope the sea is kind to you. Have a good safe trip home.

We are at Lo Monte now until next Tuesday then heading north slowly. Still lovely warm and sunny here, spent the afternoon on the beach.🏖 😊

Brue. Michael Portillo was the speaker at our local theatre a few years. We had wonderful evening, he was a very entertaining speaker and came to speak to us all in the interval. I hope you have a good evening.

ABM as others have said I really would mention the incidents to the Police.
