Pleased to hear you're doing well after the op Millie and could get back into your cathedral routine.
Lovely morning here, mists just clearing, nice B/H for people down our way.
WN thanks for the meet up idea, will contact you to see if our paths will be crossing. With two other CTers down this way soon we could have all met up with better timings!
Ebor Gorge is less popular than the surrounding attractions so worth visiting Nellie. I'm hoping we can get to see Wells Farrago, lots of art works to see. Haven't seen the new Anthony Gormley sculpture yet. Everywhere a bit too busy just now.
Interesting about Sutton Hoo we really enjoyed our visit, would have loved more time for the walks, we had a beautiful day weather wise.
Nice to hear from you Robsail, hope things go well at home.
Off for a dog walk now, the combine is due back this morning and it's peaceful just now.

We too loved Sutton Hoo. The first time we went we were so lucky as they had the Sutton Hoo Treasure (which is usually in The British Museum) on loan. It was wonderful to see such beautiful objects. The second time we went we took our grand-daughter and went on one of the guided tours which really helped with putting the site into perspective. Has anyone seen the film The Dig? It is a wonderful film about how the site was found before WWII.

We've got company this weekend - a daft dog. Our son and family are away for a couple of days so we've been volunteered to look after Ronnie. No trouble really, and when he was a bit whiny this morning he quietened down when I played some early Bob Dylan. A dog with great taste, but no idea of personal space

Oh! good, but we are not moving out until Tuesday, dont fancy sitting in a queue of traffic for hours, almost sorted our trip now, just looking to see if we should maybe make a stopover York to Southamton, have done it solo but never towing, any good sites JVB for just a 1 night stop close to M1 that must be your stomping ground
BBQ today down the beach house, glorious day and tide on way in so all good for water sports. Daughter in E.G. got more viewings on her puppies today, hope she can sell them all or we will be returning to a new edition to the family, she has deposits for 3 and is confident she will sell at least 1 today

Like the look of the puppies Rufs but a long way to come and we have made the decision to not have another one but it still does not stop wanting to say hello to dogs.
Today is pleasant warm sunshine without being to hot.
Well we have sold our old Elddis today for cash complete with most things in it complete with two awnings and the dutch couple were over the moon their previous van was an Elddis wisp 1996 and ours was 2003 and much more modern, so off to try our newer van this week hooray just looking forward to getting away.
Enjoy your bbq at the beach house Rufs.
Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend folks.
Having our main meal today early as OH has a fasting blood test at 8am tomorrow and then once sorted we will be going over to friends for coffee and lunch as OH has been sorting out their computer for them so that has to go back.

Cornwall may be crowded and the crowds may be down in Perranporth getting fleeced for car parking and baked on the beach .... meanwhile we just drove 1/2 mile down to Perranwell, parked for free and walked down the lovely shady footpath to Bolingey where, just a mile or so away from the beach the dogs could enjoy a relaxing paddle!

(For those who know the area it starts just down the road from what used to be Silverbow Park touring site and looks as if it is destined to be surfaced and become part of the extended Saints Way foot/cycle path.)
We met one cyclist, one dog walker and a rather lost looking Amazon delivery guy the whole way there and back.

Had an Endoscopy this afternoon and all is well, my stomach is inflamed (not surprising considering the amount of food I've been putting into it) due to something called an early schatzhi ring and small hiatus hernia. I'm just relieved it's not anything nasty. Big thanks to Durham hospital for running this on a Sunday.
They even gave me some nice pictures of down there and I'll post them if anyone wants...

Glad it was nothing nasty...one question did they ask you to smile?

Ok and thank you, actually I look smoother inside than outside.

Best wishes.
The thought of them is normally a lot worse than the actuality. Besides you've probably survivied Man Flu so this would have been a walk in the park.

Went and had a look at Nunney Castle today as it's just down the road. Chocolate box village with an interesting church as well. Quite popular with the "Let's climb on these old stone walls and have our photograph taken" people. No respect for the actual History of the place.
Went off for a circular walk of a few miles in the country above Nunney and then called into a very quiet Frome for some vittels from M&S, who actually had some! Yahoo. We quite like Frome. Seems an "honest" sort of town. Trying hard.
Meant to mention yesterday that the pub that we passed in Priddy, The Queen Victoria, had an unusual set up for social distancing. They had 6 "Beach Type" huts outside the main building each named after a Royal residence for diners to sit in. They obviously went down well and the one we saw inside of, Sandringham, had a Chandelier.
Innovative way of having a treat.Weather was a bit hit and miss today despite the forecast of full on sun.

Overcast all day today, dry but not warm.
Just had a chilling morning then took a walk into Jedburgh this afternoon to find there was a market on, or was. We got there just as they were packing up. Oh well never mind we couldn't fit anything else in the van, I forgot the shoehorn

NTH, yes its the C&CC site we are on, never been here before.
Off to Teversal tomorrow for 1 night, stopping in to Chesterfield on the way, someone forgot to fit the TV bracket back on the TV. Phoned ahead they have the type we need
tried 2 other dealers before them but no joy. Corners, good to hear all ok.

Nice day here today. We were at Strathclyde Park club site for the weekend one of our faves although just for the weekend as it only an hour from home. Relaxed yesterday enjoying the nice weather and then just an hours tow home today on empty roads which was strange. Not away for now for a couple of weeks.

Nunney Castle, WN, well that's another place to add to the list of spots to visit. Perhaps we should have booked in for 2 weeks instead of just one!😊
Robsail, good to read that things are looking up, and hopefully you will be able to get away in the not too distant future.
Pleased to read that your examination didn't turn up any nasties, Corners. Can't say I'd be interested in your photos though.
Safe journey down to Teversal,TG. Grand individual toilet/shower compartments there, complete with underfloor heating which is super in the depths of winter but maybe not so at this time of year. Nice walk, opposite the site, up to the higher point in Nottinghamshire. Have they refurbished the toilet block at Jedburgh, as it was looking rather old last time we visited, but it was a while ago?

Nellie, you could add Mells too, of "little Jack Horner" fame, another interesting old part of Somerset.

Hope things go well for you Corners after your hospital session.
TG enjoy the onward journey. Hope you haven't left anything else behind but at least you've got time to sort things before you leave the UK!
Decidedly chilly here, where did the holiday sun go?

"Like the look of the puppies Rufs but a long way to come and we have made the decision to not have another one but it still does not stop wanting to say hello to dogs."
wise decision RK, just had renewal for our Pet plan insurance for pooch, they want £50 per month, £150 excess, and because he is now 10 years old we will have to pay 20pct of whatever the bill comes to, talk about a rip off. Decided to pay up and smile for this year as we hope to go to Spain early next year and Pet Plan do have a good reputation for paying out for mishaps overthere, think it might be more prudent to put £50 per month into an Isa

almost ready for the off tomorrow, big disadvantage to having the van at home, is that you keep adding little bits as the days count down, i am sure if it was in storage we would not take half as much as we do now, just put some foul weather clothing in as we have now decided to visit Scotland after Devon and then York

That is why with pet insurance especially rescue dogs they seem to load? We have put money in a separate account every, month. that we were advised by our vet, which will nearly cover what we have needed to pay, to try.to help when Rosa took ill, although we did go to the Royal Vetinary College for her treatment

And we will not stop the account as we hope to have another rescue a bit later,

Nunney is one of our stop off spots😁 Slightly off the beaten track though.
Not sure of your route down, but Minster Lovell is another very interesting visit. Castle by a very lovely River, the Windrush, and an old church in the same grounds. Of “Catte, the Ratte, and Lovell the Dog” fame, childhood friend of Dick III, survived Bosworth, reputed to have died walled up in his castle! (Now you know how we can take a week to reach Cornwall...every brown tourist sign is a lure😂)
Housesitters to sort out today, final bit of packing and then yahoo.......😎

Had a busy morning packing the awning away together with all the other associated 'paraphernalia' after more than two weeks on our favourite CS - near Malton. Seem to have been away for ever but it's off home tomorrow. Don't know what happened to the 'August heatwave', though. That never materialised. Perhaps we will get it next month whilst we are at the Wharfedale site

Been busy here for all of the two weeks but now we're feeling quite alone as most people have now left - presumably those unfortunate beings who still have to do that 'work' thing!

Nellie, if you or Ttda, get to Nunney then you can take the hound/s for a stroll. Go along Church Street, pass a Stone Cross then turn left up Donkey Lane and continue along this until you see a wicket gate into the woods by the river. You can, if you use the OS map make a circular walk and end up entering Donkey Lane at the bottom where you first came in.

Westhay made a pleasant walk today but little of note seen as there has been little maintenance work on most sites this last 2 years for obvious reasons. Good walk for yourselves Nellie.
Back to the caravan and just like RandR we started packing away for departure tomorrow.
Enjoyed our little stopover here in mid Somerset. Still things we want to do so can see us popping back.

What a dreary day. Very grey and distinctly chilly. Our grand-daughter invited us over to theirs so we spent a few hours playing with our very lively ( and also very lovely) 20 month old great grandson. It is back to school on Wednesday for 3 training days for our grand-daughter before all the pupils return next Monday.

Glad folks enjoying their breaks away. We had a pleasant restful day, went to friends for coffee and lunch all very nice and very peaceful as they live down a side track in their village so no passing traffic like we have here, OH had sorted friends computer out so took that back and had a good giggles with different subjects does you good to laugh, then back home and not much done this afternoon just a snooze from a good lunch.
Glad you enjoyed your break in Somerset WN have a good trip back.
We have delayed our break away until 12th Sep a few things to sort out so OH going for his blood test next Monday then doctors on the 10th, we are having a meal with our other friends on the 11th as our 50th wedding anniversary at a local hotel overlooking the river Lot and last night we decided to book Friday night 10th for 1 night treat as we could not do the Saturday as fully booked, managed to get a room with terrace overlooking the river so looking forward to that.
Will be doing some gardening chores this week as it looks like we may get some storms from Friday onwards which we need now.

Congratulations to you both RedKite, hope you enjoy your hotel get together and stay, sounds very nice!
OH broke his £7 plastic watch, he's had it about 10 years. Are parents buying up all the cheap watches for their children returning to school, it was quite difficult to find an Argos replacement. We had to drive quite a way to find one in stock. Until the replacement was found he has been wearing a terrible looking replica "gold" Rolex bought from a stall in Singapore. I think I prefer the black plastic!

I don't think kids wear watches unless they are the Smart type. They all have phones so no need for a watch!!! I have a lovely TAG HEUER
watch which was a 60th birthday present from the family but it just sits in its box rather than being worn!!!David

David. The thought did cross my mind about who wears a watch nowadays, in fact I never wear one either but OH always does. As this one is a slight improvement on the previous one I've mentioned to him that at least he'll know which day it is....
