Best wishes to EuroT. Hope the operation works.
Had an eventful journey today to mid Somerset. Decided to head on a diagonal around Ledbury from Leominster to Gloucester and M5. All going spiffing when "Road Ahead Closed - Follow Diversion" appeared out of the blue.😱
Diversion took us miles out of our way back to the A49 at Hereford. Headed for M4 after that. Anyway we finally arrived after 4 hours.
CL very nice and quiet. On grass but no rain forecast. Nice change. Put the sun canopy up. Mrs WN has washing out already. She's a keeper, I think.
Have to get the bikes out tomorrow.
Take care one and all.

Not a good day today as Rosa has gone to doggie heaven, it was found she had some cancerous growths on her spine when she had an MRI scan at the Royal Vet College which because of her age the vets said would be very difficult to contain as without more scans they could not be sure it had not spread to other organs

JV, how absolutely awful for you. Sincere condolences, and good that you have been brave enough to make a very difficult decision, it’s never easy. Treasure your memories and kind regards to you and your OH.

So sorry to hear your news, JVB, certainly not what one wants to happen at any time but really awful when you are away from home. My sincere condolences, stay strong and remember her as she was when out on your morning walks.l

Sounds like an "interesting" journey, WN. Glad you eventually made it to your site.
Another fine sunny day with a pleasant cooling breeze. Had to got to dentist for my half yearly checked around noon, and thankfully all was well. Then over to the shore and a walk through the nature reserve and back along the shingle bank. Flyte managed a dip or two in the tide, which was fully in, to cool off.

JVB I'm sorry to read the sad news about Rosa, condolences to you and your wife. Saying goodbye is one of the saddest things about having pets and love generally. You had some lovely years together - be comforted that you had wonderful times and companionship try to remember the good times amid your sadness.

So sad JVB - our thoughts are with you. I honestly don't know how I'll cope when it inevitably comes to that with Meg - she's my 'best friend' as I'm sure Rosa was to you.

Thank you every one for your messages of condolences, it was a very hard day, ,they were so good at the Royal Vet College small animal hospital, and explained every possible option none were long term, just months possibly,
It will be a while ,but a "house it not a home" without a dog Rosa was our third rescue collie all have been "Best friends "and very loyal ,we wonder, as there is not normally any history that they return any love shown to them with much more ,and it does not get any easier when we have to let go
We have spoken to other adopters of rehomed dogs. there are some horrendous stories,
Even a couple of days ago here at F,M a couple have a collie from North Wales who had been kept in a locked shed for the first two years of his life on a farm.? with two others, until rescued
Thank you all again for your messages

We will definately be looking for another Collie (Once being with them your hooked) it will be a little while ,as we have a couple of music breaks booked ,in Norfolk in November ,with our caravan ,and it would not be fair on a new dog, until used to other parts of his/her new home, to be subject to the LV life style.
I know as soon as we advise the rescue centre of Rosa passing away ,they will want us to take another, but this time with our age as well ,it will have. be a very careful choice

Last night we had our first entertainment outing for 20 months. An outdoor theatre visit, about 300 of us in an old walled garden near Sherborne Castle (part of a garden centre.) Evening picnics, clear skies, the odd Gnat bite! Great performance by Illyria Theatre Company, lots of doubling up of parts, just six actors in fine voice and comic acting, HMS Pinafore cheered us all up.

As most come on this thread and I cannot find the other thread about site upgrades I can give an update,
Have received an Email from EGH in answers to a question I asked on Monday, advising that basically any site that the club have submitted plans to the local planning officer, will have advanced bookings from when work is planned to start. Made not available untill the local planning officer has agreed the work on the sites concerned so it seems watch the sites concerned websites , to see if they are if not it seems bookings will again be available
Any forward work that is agreed to be done will be on the clubs website under site upgrades?
Hence stevels post yesterday about clubber and when it goes before the local planning dept

JVB - we were travelling down to Cornwall yesterday so I've only just seen your post about poor old Rosa. So sorry to read that; we've been there many time so I know how you and your OH will be feeling right now. Our dogs leave massive holes in our lives when we lose them, but you will have many lovely memories of your times together and trips out in the van.
Will be thinking of you.

Another hot and sunny day here, started off foggy but soon burnt off, now really warm

More finding things to put away in the MH
If it wasn't bank holiday weekend we'd be off tomorrow. The longer we hang about the more we keep putting in. I allowed extra days for packing up just in case the weather was bad, can't win.Thought there was going to be an announcement today about travel but not heard anything yet. I guess they are all to busy with Afghanistan.
I was at a loose end this morning so did the ironing, what an exciting life I have at times.
I don't usually get bored but I do get impatient

Sincere condolences JVB. Glad you did the right thing for Rosa.
You are right about rehomed dogs. The last one we had was either overfed or neglected, but the owner did have Dementia so had a valid excuse. So when she came to us she was a scavenger but eventually weaned off that habit. Took us 2 years to hear her bark! She was so, so gentle and gave as much back as she was given. You'll miss Rosa bur she sounds like she was much loved and that really is the main thing.
