It cost him nearly £57 for all the bus trips. The train back home was £16 cheaper!!! We got talking to a lady on a bus once. She was travelling from somewhere I think in the Midlands to Plymouth just using local buses on her bus pass. The trouble with such trips is that you have to have plenty of time and be able to plan your comfort stops!!! I noticed the new Timothy Spall film which looks good but I am not sure I am ready to go back to the cinema just yet?

We had an 'interesting' bus journey when in N. Ireland. DIL dropped us off in Downpatrick and we said we would catch the bus back - only about 4 a day. We duly caught the bus - only us 2 on it. We said '2 to Strangford please' and the driver said to OH do you have a 'wee pensioner's pass' so OH showed him his bus pass and he said 'on you go'. He didn't even ask to see mine. Our bus passes are not supposed to be valid in NI. Also the bus was supposed to go via another village just off the main road but he didn't bother with that he just kept going. I hope there weren't some poor souls standing waiting for the bus.

That sounds like round here Millie, when I stood at a bus stop in our local town and a group of people waved my bus on because it wasn't theirs!! Had to wait another hour for the next one....
Had a busy day packing up things that had been stored in our outside room, I think maybe I'm just shifting stuff round and the day of reckoning will come when there's nowhere left to move these things on!

Having a difficult time getting a signal on the CL but tethering off phone hanging on heki at the moment!
CL lovely. Walked from site today to Croft NT just up the road, then carried on on one of their walks. Enjoyed not having to get in the car. Covered nearly 9 miles today and feeling good so might scale it back a tad tomorrow.
Haven't read all posts as I'm unsure how long signal will last for so hope all is well.
We move on Wednesday so hope for a better signal then.
Stay out of trouble folks.

Very warm here today. We have been down at DD's so I could continue refitting her oak skirtings now that the work on the roof is all finished and the painter has been.
It all looks good, so now they have a massive clean up job and lots of furniture to move back into place. Will be good to have a comfortable chair to sit in again!
Hopefully I can finish all the skirtings before we go away. We have said that Wednesday is the last day we can give them, then we have 3 days for sorting , cleaning, and packing the car and caravan. We might just have time for a quick visit on Saturday to say bye bye to Callum.
This morning I managed to connect car to van with some long cables, and found that all the van lights work OK, so that is one less thing to worry about.

Busy'ish day today.
First thing MH to weigh bridge, all ok still have allowance left for my camping washer, I think OH was hoping we might not.
I was worried that the back axle might be a bit heavy as we have a tow bar fitted + bike rack and 2 full sized ebikes on it. No everything was ok, back axle well under and overall weight 100kg under so all good.
After lunch OH went to see his Mum, a bit of shopping first for some goodies for her. I went to see my sister while he was at the home.
Back home again and a quick change of clothes so I could paint my new shed, only 1 side to go, had to stop so I could do dinner. OH busy sorting the electrics inside it.
It started off dull and misty this morning but the sun came out and its been hot this afternoon.
WN I was trying to visualize you hanging from the skylight, I had you upside down hanging by your toes

WN, I thought you were heading straight to Slimbridge, or have I got it wrong yet again?
Is it Middleton Farm that you are staying on?0 -
Fine dry day here, and quite hot in the sun when it did eventually appear. Took OH to the dentist this morning, just for a check up. Our lady dentist, Jasmine, is due a baby next month, which was a surprise to us as we'd not noticed that she was pregnant on our last visits, just a few weeks ago. She had kept her condition well hidden under all the PPE that she's had to wear. So our next dental appointments will be with her husband.
Then took Flyte for a walk round our local town park, where he was able to get a good run off the lead. After lunch I did a few small jobs in the van, getting it ready for it's service on Friday, before we head off again.

Went to eldest sons this afternoon to see his new kitten. He already has a one year old male cat and the new one is female. The one year old is about six times the size!!! They are both a breed called Ragdoll. Despite being so much bigger the older one seems very unsure of the little one!!!

So cute David. They grow so quickly. 'Our' kitten went home on Sunday evening. The house seems very quiet without her. As we are supposed to be self isolating we hsd to take her over to our son's house and settle her in before they got home.

What beautiful looking cats David. I’m sure they will soon be friends, takes a week or two from memory. We adopted our sons 3 cats when they left to live in Singapore (18 years ago now); we already had 2 cats of our own and having 5 cats wasn’t top of our list but they said it was only for a couple of years, They are now in HK so it wasn’t!!! We did wonder at first how ever they would all get on but eventually it all settled and they were all, friendly or at least tolerant, of each other! Just having puppy sat our other sons puppy for 10 days we have considered another animal but for various reasons (a hip replacement at some point for me) it’s not a good idea for us.

At one point we had three cats and three dogs, all very different but they modged along somehow. There was always an evening truce when they bedded down in the kitchen together.
Lovely cats David. All of ours have been rescue or just turned up. A vet said "one cat will attract another," she was right!
A bit warmer today but very breezy. Haven't been doing much, still waiting for hip X ray results, one month end of this week. Delayed review appointment also, but did get flu jabs booked for the 20th. One out of three not bad.

They were chosen because they make good house cats. That doesn't stop the bigger one looking into the garden longingly!!! He does have a harness and a long lead so he can explore. He seems to like laying in the flower bed. Son has been working from home during COVID but is due to start back at the Office three days a week in September so they will have to get used to being on their own from time to time. I think that is the reason he went for a second cat so there was some company. His wife is not so keen on dogs which I think would have been the first choice had she been more comfortable with them. Not quite sure what will happen when they go on holiday, not sure its so easy to take a cat from their normal surroundings?

That's a Yep and a Yep.

TG- We can't use the Batmobile as it doesn't have a towbar fitted.

Had another stroll of about 5 miles today as we needed to get some food in this afternoon. Weather has been kind. Quite an awkward drive tomorrow. Probably take us about 3 hours to do 100 miles. Our own fault for choosing such places to go to.
Millie - Best wishes for your eye op.

Not the best day ever. I had two hours in under bright lights in an operating theatre while a plastic surgeon injected local anaesthetic in three parts of my face, sliced off bits of skin cancer, cut skin from elsewhere as skin grafts to fill the gaps, and then stitched all the wounds up. And now the anaesthetic is wearing off.

Eurotraveller ouch. Hopefully paracetamol will assist now and the results, after looking like you've taken on an Olympic boxer have faded will be great. My mums were as is a friends done more recently.
Milliehull I hope all went well for you today.
Back from overnight stay with son, nice to catch up short window with DIL too. Grandson growing a pace. Just sorting out and getting dinner before recovery evening....

Hi Euror, I can empathise-Jean had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last August, then a wider incision in January, which required us to isolate all over Christmas and New Year, and agan in February as cancerous cells were found on the periphery of the wound site.
The January op was accompanied by skin grafts and removal of lymph nodes.
I had some medical appointments as well and, between us, we had over 30 by end of February-hope this hasn’t caused a painful smile?!!
Heres hoping you have a speedy and as painless as possible recovery.

Hope you have a speedy recovery Eurortraveller. A&J,.Sorry to hear Jean has also had to have similar surgery, hope the appointment lists get shorter for both of you.
Just reading about Cornwall and Covid, hope the message gets through for the Bank Holiday.
Had a nice evening dog walk, meeting others doing the same, visiting dog isn't very good with other dogs but he behaved himself tonight! 🐕

Lovely hot and sunny day today.
More painting of the shed, now done. OH had finished off part of the electrics, I've now got power for the lawn mower.

Grass now cut, garden tidied up, it will be a jungle when we return I know but at least we will leave it looking good.
ET, hope you feel better soon.
Bakers, glad you had a good family visit.
Millie, hope all went well with your op.
Hope everyone is enjoying the good weather.

Ouch! The painkillers will help, but I suspect only to a certain extent. Hopefully it will feel better in a couple of days.

Been another lovely day here today was 25 degrees earlier on this afternoon. I gave the Volvo a wash so it’s now sitting sparkling again got to get the caravan ready tomorrow as we are off at the weekend for a couple of nights just local but will be nice to get away. Deciding what to do for our 10 day break in October we have Chester booked at the moment but SWMBO fancies Yorkshire for a week then a few nights in Berwick on way home so may be changing plans I’m not too fussed either way and second youngest son is joining is and isn’t bothered either so the final decision will be with the boss.
Hope the pain gets better soon EUro and the op has been a success. Happy travels to all those heading off soon

Yes Brue, I’ve also been reading about Covid in Cornwall, with 770 per 100,000, twice the rate of last week, they are now asking people not to travel there unless already booked. Not surprising really with the amount of people travelling to the SW. We are trying to stay at home for the next two weeks. Just gardening planned.

Our few days holiday seems a long way off now, it’s busy busy busy here. Mowing for more silage, bill paying, accounting and updating the vet and medicine records for me. OH at evening meetings - Parish Council tomorrow (always long because they gossip so much), and tonight what will be even longer a Management Committee meeting for the upcoming Westmorland Show.
Some days my brain feels too stretched. I’ve told the rest of the family team that I plan to retire when I’m 80. But I don’t think anyone was listening.

I can appreciate what you've gone through ET, having had similar done to my nose earlier in the year. I was fortunate that they were able to a lap job, so didn't have to remove good pieces to replace the area that was cut away. Hope that the wounds soon heal up fully and you can get the stitches out in the not too distant future. Guess it will have put pay to your going away for a few weeks. All the best.

Another very warm day here, after a misty start.
Did a couple of hours on skirtings, then after an early lunch we (me, OH, DD, Callum and Nathan) went to see the Paw Patrol Movie, using vouchers from our Lloyds bank account.
Paw Patrol is Callum's favourite, so he was totally transfixed for at least an hour or so! Nathan also sat and watched it without protest, and even the grown ups enjoyed it.
Back to DD's for coffee and biscuits, then more skirtings. I just might get them all done by tomorrow!

WARE SCAMMERS !!
=================
Went round to one of my oldest friends this afternoon, after a couple of hours checking that Aged Sister has not been left holding ( another ) kitten { she was offered & introduced to a delightful young kitten, black in colour so immediately a BIG NO NO !! She would not be able to distinguish it from the shadows now 'cos at almost 91 her sight is not all it used to be
}Only been parked up at friends new home about a couple of minutes when the door bell started, & continued, ringing !
A couple of Travelling Irish** Reps stood at the door asking to buy, for cash, my Fiat Ducato mo-van and seemed most insistent on doing a deal !! Only stopped them yapping away when my mate, sorting a few thousand bits and bobs, came out of his shed holding a wood chisel & a 2 lb hammer, in a most aggressive way ~~ well they were interfering with the works going on
. They had offered various ridiculous amounts of money including the same as I paid for it back in 2014 -- doubtless I would not have seen much of the cash, if indeed any !! You Have Been Warned -- Doubtless Scammers and today at least on the loose in South Cheshire & Environs !!
Please Take the Greatest of care with your possessions !

"Just reading about Cornwall and Covid, hope the message gets through for the Bank Holiday"
we are off to Devon for a month but after the bank holiday, do like to use the sea pool at Bude but will have to see how things are in a couple of weeks time. I guess once the schools return and people come off of furlough then the crowds will disperse, here's hoping, maybe they should have cxld Boardsmasters, i read that there are nearly 5k infections as a direct result of this festival.
Great day again, just right for shampoing the carpets then off to the beach house, for lunch, tide will be in so should be great to do a bit of canoeing/paddle boarding with the Gkids
Started weening the puppies off of mum now, how they grow
