WN I have sympathy for Mrs WN and MIL. M&S sizing is a nightmare. As you say same size garments often one too small one too big. Dread buying anything there that can't be tried on in store. Will only buy if I know it will be easy to return, a tiresome procedure. Someone there needs to sort out this long standing  problem. We got the blackbird hatching time all wrong, they must have hatched earlier than we thought, they fledged today, an empty nest now. Second jab for us both tomorrow.

Yes it certainly is! We've taken the kids there since they were small, the good thing was they couldn't damage anything as it so bare inside.

And of course it is dog friendly too, and I mean dog friendly, not just in the normal sense but the kennels had fireplaces in while some of the servants' quarters in the attic didn't!

Have been on site since yesterday ,,OH says she will now use her buggy laughing  now have 3days to work out how to transport itundecided  before we head away for our first real outing since last year ,this site quite full Al hardstands in use and several grass pitches in use

We have  newby motor caravaners nextdoor who have said with ref to waste water deposal  they have an AutoTrail which has an additional pipe that clips on the waste tap they thought all MCs were so fitted ,what they also have been advised by some of their friends?that it is quite acceptable to empty waste as you travel which ensures the tank is empty

A warm day up here, a ride to the Tyne but this time westwards then inland along the former railway line, now the Derwent valley walk, to Consett.

As always the most interesting place along the walk is the site of the old Lintz Green railway station where the stationmaster was murdered after meeting the last train from Newcastle on a November Saturday night in 1913. The case was never solved.

The last pic is the station in 1910.

Bright sunny morning with a few clouds but warmer than the last week.

OH decided today was the day to wash the caravan, as usual that means I have to go and help. I get all the nice bits of sealant that have gone black/green with muck. Old toothbrush and silky does the job, just wish he would watch where he aims the hose surprised

After lunch it had clouded over so he decided it was perfect to polish the van, started out fine then OH got side tracked with something else and I was left to finish the rest, that was 3 sides. As usual he returned just as I was clearing up yell

Still no letter for second vaccine, although one of our village friends got his second one today, he is younger than us but also got his first one a few days before us, he is one letter before us in the alphabet so maybe we will hear soon.

WN you always have such interesting days 😁 I also agree about M&S sizing it diabolical.

Hi Tammy. I could do with some less "interesting" days thank you very much.

Seriously if anyone is thinking of visiting Chester at the moment - Beware. It's hard enough if you know your way around. I'm not even sure the P&R is operating as one of the routes used to take you straight through the City centre to the Zoo from the Wrexham end, where there is a M/H parking area.

Yay! We got the letter this morning. Second jag tomorrow afternoon☺☺ that's 9 weeks since our first one.

Everything now on track to get away on the 26th ☺☺

Rain overnight but dry now if a little dull.

OH got his ' Men's shed' this morning, first a zoom meeting then down to the shed to make sure all the signs are in place for when they reopen next week.

I've got 2 x 50th birthday cards to make, request from a neighbour, so will do them while he is out.

WN, thanks for the heads up on Chester, we will be down that way in June.

Wow!!! are we missing going to Spain for the Spring, not one bit, just glorious today, walking now just in shirt and shorts, pooch panting, central heating off except for 1 hour in the morning to take the nighttime chill off, solar panels wracking up the Kw = money, some reports say we could have temps in the mid 20''s for May, do hope so, away for most of it,

caravan all ready to roll, even got new tyres.cool Like this time of year, children now all back at school so very few people walking the beach, pooch even had a paddle this morning, not a great lover of the sea, even when i am in he is very reluctant.

Enjoy the sunshine folks, envious of all you's who are probably right now sat having brunch in glorious sunshine cool

That’s confirmation in that tourist accommodation can open here on Monday so I’d imagine the club sites will be opening on that date too. Good news

Hope you can all have your long awaited holidays! It's been lovely in Devon on our break but still chilly overnight, the hedgerows are just coming out, May will be better. I think this is the coldest April for many years, apparently 2013 was the last time.  We're off further south tomorrow, see what that brings?! smile

Glad to hear the Scottish contingent may get away next week.

Went to town to pay a cheque in and to pick some library books up whilst the Ladies did a Tesco shop.

For quite some time now our local town has made the main street one way with a view to a permanent solution. However this morning I noticed it's back to the old two way, particularly as an elderly lady nearly got herself knocked down by still assuming that the traffic was only coming from the one direction. No big signs up warning people.

Had a Click and Collect at lunchtime, then lunch and then I finished off the sealing of the brickwork on the east side of the house. Just back from a walk and an ice cream.🍦

Might have a day off tomorrow and go for a longer stroll.

We have had a few sunny warmer days after a week of frosts and chilly days so have been busy a bit more of kitchen cupboards painting and then outside cutting grass OH on bigger petrol mower me on the smaller one and then I did a bit of strimming had a few aches after that yesterday and today we had to go our as OH needed more fuel for mowers and the ride on mower then back home and after homemade soup for lunch   I trimmed some Salvia shrubs and OH got the field done with the ride on mower he is happy doing that as he can take his time, no flowers on the wild orchid yet so hope they will flower after the frost damaged the leaves.  We have rain forecast for pm on Wednesday so I will finish trimming the Salvia shrubs and OH can strimm outside the wall roadside as the local council will be doing the rounds with their cutting equipment and are not fussed if they knock the walls so hence we do it instead.

Off for our 1st vaccinations on Thursday and so far we have had 3 reminders emails and texts making sure we do not forget.

Dont keep a check on temperatures normally but have to say April for us has been gorgeous, the blosom has been out since very early in the month and the Hawthorn is especially splendid and as we have not had any damaging winds or rain most of the blosom is still looking splendid, the Magnolias suffered due to heavy frosts overnight, Apple  blosom is just showing so hopefully did not suffer from frost bite.

I think due to the very clear skies we have had for weeks now, we have been tricked into thinking it is warmer than it actually is as we have had loads of sunshine, top tanning weather in the back gardencool

Another lovely sunny day today. We went up to Holywell Bay and walked round Kelsey Head to Porth Joke, where Ralph took advantage of the freshwater stream leading down to the beach to cool down!  Some "top secret" filming going on at Holywell - we were stopped on the way to the NT car park and asked where we were driving to by security folk, but they refused to tell us exactly what was being filmed.

We've also noticed much more blossom on the blackthorn bushes around here, maybe something to do with less air pollution during lockdown?

Bit of a scary moment walking back where we noticed Lady studying something on the ground very closely - turned out to be an adder! Only a juvenile one we think, no harm done, it scuttled off into the undergrowth pretty quickly. We often see signs warning of them but this was the first time in all the years we've been coming here that we've actually seen one!

Mrs M had a text inviting her for her second jab on Saturday but I've not heard yet - we both had the first on the same day,  but she had AZ, I had pfizer so maybe that's a consideration?

More prep in the caravan this afternoon, all systems working fine on electric, heating/hot water/cooker working on gas. Just need to check the fridge tomorrow on gas. OH needs to find the 240/12v cables for the TV he can't remember where he put them yell

I stood for a couple of hours ironing, had back ache for awhile but thankfully its gone now.

More rain this afternoon, nothing heavy just wet laughing I knew as soon as we cleaned and polished the caravan that it would rain, sod's law.

We've had a great April, sunny blue skies no rain until yesterday, chilly at nights but who cares, if its nice during the day, hope May proves to be a good month, usually is up here.

Shopping tomorrow morning then off for our second jab in the afternoon.

Our grandson in N.Ireland was confirmed this morning. Thankfully it was live streamed so we were able to watch. It made up in a small way for us not being able to be with them. Cathedral duty this afternoon. About 20 people came in. Hopefully we can open up for general visiting after 17th May and get back to chatting to the visitors and telling them about the Cathedral. Looking through the Norman arch towards Cathedral Square town looked very busy. I think I will give it a miss for a while yet.

Yesterday took the motorhome in for its second habitation service and first cab service (only required every two years) They have loaned us a Fiat 500, I noticed today that it has a caravan type plug on the front so I assume it is sometimes towed by a motorhome?

Been a lovely day here in MK so I took the opportunity to pressure wash where the motorhome normally sits. Also washed the loan car as it was a bit mucky!!!

Yesterday was perhaps the warmest we've had so far this trip. Visited Hanbury Hall (N/T) and did a couple of walks around the estate including up to the church but didn't do the gardens as dogs not allowed and didn't want to leave him in a hot car. Reprovisioned at Lidl on the way back to the van where it was still early enough to get washing done and dried out in the sun. Last night at The Old Orchard.

Today had not been as sunny but still fine. Easy drive down to Pardon Hill CL, nr Bishops Cleeve, which is also full, mainly of caravans again.  Gentle walk along the lanes after lunch, and then a sit outside in the sun.

It's a proper Blackthorn spring this year. smile

Plymouth Sound has been lovely, the surrounding fields are full of Larks singing. Sadly the little barn near the site where the swallows nest has been demolished and replaced with a modern house and garage. Things have changed since the site has been closed for a year. But there is a nice "bio-diversity field on site and there are Larks in there too.

Very quiet this morning and we're off soon.

May have solved the mystery of what was being filmed (or preparations for filming) at Holywell yesterday.

According to Cornwall Live, it's for a prequel to something called "Game of Thrones"!

"The new series will reportedly tell a story set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

It will depict the war of succession between Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors Rhaenyra and Aegon II, two dragon-wielding heirs to the Iron Throne."

All of which means absolutely nothing to me since, apparently, I'm one of the approximately 6 people in the country who have never watched GofT!

Another lovely day down here today. Took our lunch up to Pentire Head looking down over an unusually empty Crantock beach, and then a stroll along Fistral. Just a few "tidying up" jobs to do before we head home tomorrow, ready for appointments with hairdresser/barber (hurrah!) and hygienist (boo!) on Friday.

Mrs M has her second jab on Saturday then a week at home before heading up to our week in the Peak District. (Must check if The Packhorse at Little Longstone is open again yet.)

There's a coincidence as I'm another of the 6. All I know is that Sean Bean, he of yelling Yorkshire Tea at us, went around warning that "winter is coming" in the guise of a character called Jedward, or some such name. 🤷🏻‍♂️

One of the Bond films was filmed at Holywell Bay and the Eden Project. Quantum of Solace, I think.

Two more here Moulesy.laughing Completely passed us by.

We had something similar in the lead up to Christmas when one of our local "Halls" was closed off for filming, some sort of Costume Drama, I think.  MiL (our spy) found out will/may be called "The Woman/Girl in the Window". No-one else managed to get a word out of the crew. I think she uses the age old technique of refusing to move and old age stubbornness until they relent.laughing

Had a nice stroll this morning albeit in a cold nippy wind. Got back in time for lunch and then we did some "gardening", i.e. prunning and digging up a dead Forsythia. Need to find something to replace it when we get back from out jaunt next week.

M - The Packhorse doesn't have any outdoor seating does it? You may have to find an alternative if you want a pint and a meal.
