Add another 3 (our household) who hasn’t watched any Game of Thrones have heard a lot about it but never saw it. Glorious day here today sun is out and it’s quite warm so cooking on the BBQ tonight I think. Forecast for the weekend is good too. Booked a couple more sites today just weekends at local sites but though we better book in advance as places here are filling up fast

That wind sounds bad Brue. Don't get swept off the cliffs.

Is it next Monday for the off Francis? Bet you can't wait.

Have to laugh. OH said to me last night that it wouldn't surprise her if MiL started sorting out her clothes itinerary today for our 4 night break starting next Monday and lo and behold it came to pass.smile

Had to go to Wrexham Breast Cancer clinic today to get my AAA test, which came back negative so I've been sacked already. Took up the morning though.

A stroll this afternoon to keep the legs going and I need to sort out somewhere to put a maturing ISA. The rate has dropped by 75% since taking it out so it won't be earning much whatever we decide to do.

I've been meal planning and collecting piles of stuff for our three night trip away tomorrow. If we forget something, it won't be an big ussue - we're only going about 3/4 mile (down the farm track to park up by St Sundays Beck). And no need to take my handbag and purse! But my daughter said "what if you want to buy something online?"

Apparantley I won't have to do much work, as my husband has said he'll make breakfast and cook suppers on the barbecue. The ingredients he will need will just magically appear.

I may have gone overboard on books (plus my KIndle with all the hundreds on it).

Series 7 is a cracker. All coming together. Series 8 is better watched at least a couple of times to pick up all the threads. It’s one we watched as it was broadcast and we did have to watch it again to pick up everything. There’s a wonderful documentary to pick up on as well, all about the filming, the locations, the extras, the costumes etc...... I think it might be called The Last Watch, it’s certainly available on Now TV. There’s a rather amazing tapestry as well, sort of a Bayeaux Game of Thrones that pictures many of the timelines, events, characters from the series. It’s a spoiler though, so don’t view it until you watch the series. I am hoping at some point or other to have a look at exhibition of costumes and props if it is on tour at a convenient location.

We have had a lovely cycle ride again, very impressed with round here for Cycling safely. A lot flatter than home as well, so a bonus for me. Enjoyed looking around the outside of the wonderful Cathedral. It provided the inspiration for the Pillars of the Earth author, Ken Follet, he was fascinated by Cathedral architecture, after knowing little about it. Took to visiting many of the UKs greatest church buildings, and then went on to write his epic story. Magnificent building.

Glad you got to see the outside of the cathedral tda. There are some wonderful old medieval walls in the precints, the remains of the old monastery buildings destroyed during the Reformation. I could give you a tour of the inside of the cathedral (ground floor) next time you are in the area if you would be interested and I am around.

Shame we missed you, brue. Where are you staying?

We always keep an eye out for the choughs - have seen some on the rather exposed cliff tops between Holywell and Penhale Camp, but never on the stretch near St Agnes.

It was indeed a very strong and cold wind this morning - almost got caught out driving up to the dunes - the first half of one of the new lodges was being delivered to the site and we only just made it out in time. Fascinating to watch all the manoeuvring,  but maybe not for the folks held up on their way to work or school as the road was blocked for quite a time. frown

Home now for a brief visit before the off again! wink

Very interesting, we hoped the cloisters might be open, but sadly not. No matter, the West front alone kept us fascinated. Some beautiful old carved gravestones as well. Yes, would love a proper guided tour, it’s a stunning building. Plenty for us to return and see another time. I quite fancy one of those Swan gondola’s on the NV lake as well....good exercise😁

Enjoy your breaks folks we will be away for 2 weeks in June and staying in two cottages and looking forward to being away.

Had our 1st jab today OH was about 3 hours after me but he came with me to check in and the receptionist said would you like to be done together so we ended up in the same cubicle all went well but warned we may get headache or a sore arm which we both have, it was the Pfizer one and after we had to sit for 15 minutes and they gave us the paperwork for the next one on 18th May again both together, have to say very well organised just a lot of paperwork usual french thing, our friends will have theirs tomorrow and they are in the next lower age group, we also did the shopping as well and no Gendarmes anywhere but plenty of folk from different areas of France even a car from Belgium with bikes on the back well that is more than 10 kilometres from home and another friend says they have folk down at second homes from Paris no comment.

The weather has been lovely today 21C and next two days 26 and 27 C phew a bit warm for April but rain forecast next week, we did have some rain yesterday so helped the garden.

Nice to hear of meets, sorry we've just  missed the Moulesys. Enjoy your next holidays. We're at Aggie, not for long, back home after tomorrow. Hoping to get the planned garden visits in if our knees recover from the coastal path...🏃🏃

Goldie - Telegraph Pole Appreciation Book for Beginners?????

My mind did boggle for a minute or two as I tried to conjure up something that fortunately remained buried deep but the reality is even weirder. Brilliant.

Is there an "Advanced" one available as well?

Enjoy your weekend. Seems like you may even get to have some decent weather for a change.

We have had a lovely day today. We drove over to Stamford to have lunch in a friend's garden. We decided to avoid the A1 and drove through the villages - so lovely in the glorious weather. There were just the 4 of us for lunch in our friend's pretty sheltered garden. It was really good to see them both after so long. This evening we have been for an hour long walk with son, DIL, grandson and their dog. I think we will sleep well tonight 😴

Goldie - Telegraph Pole Appreciation Book For Beginners ?????

Should any of you decide to join the Appreciation Club puleese remember that the ones you DONT climb are the Steel ones !!

As recently released Apprentices ( aka youths in training ! ) back in the last century several of us were used (!!) to cover for experienced Linemen who saw fit to take Annual Leave when the world f f froze up in the 1962 winter. Heavy boots, jeans, overall trousers, coats and huge extremely heavy over-coats all topped off with leather safety belts ( NO HELMETS ) and a portable handset ( aka Buttinski ) with an analogue test meter equipped one to climb if you could ! All great fun BUT one of my colleagues down in Stafford was up one of the experimental steels but kept his wits about him when it got too cold, and remembered the Panic Phone Number - 999 -  and the fire brigade turned up to un lash a very frozen him and gently lower him to the ground.

We were all told then that Steels would automatically require the attendance of a Two man Party and hydraulic Lift !

OH watch the whole 8 series of GoT(again) while we were at home since Christmas. Think this must be at least her 3rd time viewing it, and still finds new things in it. Me, I just spot an odd minute or too, but don't watch very much TV/films at all.

Yesterday was cloudier but not too cold. Parked at Stanton, the home village of Sue Barker, tennis player and animated of Question of Sport. We walked the Winchcombe way to Buckand before climbing up onto the escarpment and returned along the Cotswold Way. On return had a wander up from the site to watch a few of the cars practicing their starts at the Prescott Hill Climb. The full event takes places on Saturday so it will be busy and noisy around here then.

Today we went to Sudeley Castle on a lovely sunny day. As we couldn't take Flyte around the gardens we went for an hour or so walk in the estate before lunch, then we wandered round the gardens. There's a exhibition of life sized Elephants throughout the grounds that is well worth seeing if in the area up to the end of May.

Hope that tda and JVB get to wave to eachother😁 Glad to hear that WN's results came back negative. Every one else who are out and about, or getting ready to head off have a good time and enjoy your break.

Back from Grafham Water yesterday.  What a lovely small and quiet site.  Certainly one on our 'return to' list.  Not too long to our visit to Conkers CCC site..... in fact, I'll leave the car packed as it is!!  😃

Hardly able to keep up with the inflation rate these days. Perhaps it's all part of a "cunning plan" to encourage us to spend, spend, spend and kickstart the economy. Maybe I should get my C1 back and splash out on a Concorde like Triky. Hang on though, it won't fit on the drive. cry

I spotted the Telegraph Pole book as well, our kind of read. I had no idea that there were so many different kinds of pylons either until I saw a reference to someone who went out and about studying them.

We are off this morning, heading back via Easton Walled Gardens. Had a thoroughly lovely time here, it has been a great choice for us this short mid week break. We haven’t rolled a wheel since arriving either, very unlike us. Got some good cycle mileage in though, which is what was intended. Site has been very quiet, just starting to fill up a bit now for weekend. We are going home with a suntan as well, mind it was back down to zero last night. We had a tap dancing Wood Pigeon on the heki this morning, on the plus side it wasn’t the screeching flock of parakeets we encountered last night😂

A bit to add to the telegraph pole info is they used to test pylons at cheddar when we lived in Somerset not sure whether they still do today, that looks an unusual book appeals to us as we have some different poles here a lot more going back to wood and even saw some coloured brown but not sure what material they are using so when we go past one will stop and have a look at home they are mostly concrete for electric and wood or metal for telephone as we do not have underground cables in our village unless new houses are being built.

Another lovely sunny day 23.5C on the weather station so will get warmer later, still feeling a bit woozy from jab so an easy day today but have put washing out.

Milliehull add me to your list for the tour please.

Goldie I love the sound of the telegraph pole book. Never occurred to me someone designed them  just took it for granted they magically appeared 🤔 until there was a competition on ?Blue Peter? To design one years ago.

I have, well its somewhere - couldn't find it last time I looked for it 😱,  a book on the M25. My colleagues  gave it to me as part of 50th birthday gifts. Tells you all about what you're passing. But that was cos I'd usually got out old maps trying to work out what was what you can see as you go round, on the quiet days at work. They thought it was hilarious but all borrowed it - we were anoraks generally. For a laugh they included one on roundabouts, another thing when driving!

I believe there are now books on most motorways. My dad would tell us all about rivers, hills old buildings etc when he was map reading as someone else drove, but being  a delicate traveller I can't read the map and travel. But reading a book things sometimes 😉 stick more!

Beautiful here less of a breeze, had to remove my coat for dog walk. Met a friend's 2 daughters and their dog for a catch up too. Exciting days - dissertation to be handed in, well sent electronically, later today and hopefully a fully qualified midwife as a result. Sadly no firsts this year because of the disruption 😢. And a wedding date set for next year 😀. Very sensible they're keeping it to less than 30, church and marquee in the garden. Hopefully things will have settled down by then, seems very sensible as they want to buy a house. No foreign honeymoon, unless Cornwall go it alone 😂.

Awaiting Tesco delivery anytime. Then OH got echocardiogram later this afternoon.

Good to hear Wherenext got clean bill re his scan, OH's was strong so that is one good thing.

Had my 2nd jab yesterday, fingers crossed so far just aware of where it went in my arm, unlike last time when I was flat out by now and slowly recurred over 3 weeks. Haircut too yesterday.
