OH is cleaning the roof of the MH, got himself a new long handled brush so all ok, he doesn't have to walk on the roof (I think, I daren't look...)
Lovely sunny start to the day but still chilly and losing lots of new growth due to heavy overnight frosts. Just hoping the emerging fruit blossom doesn't get hit, it could be one of those years when things don't go to plan outside. Last year was wonderful with the lovely warm weather, not so good this time.
Nice to hear of trips to gardens, especially if they're non booked ones which makes visiting so much easier.

Already in place Millie I think. A restriction by our own Government rather than the EU, they had the choice of being more generous!!! Having said that our tastes have been moving towards New World wines in recent years and they are not so widely available in French supermarkets. Given that we get some good offers in our own UK supermarkets I am not convinced it will make much difference. There is only so much wine you can drink!!! We haven't been abroad with the van since 2016 and I am uncertain whether we will again, have to see how next year pans out?

Just for info just been an announcement by the FM that cross border travel should be able to resume on 26th of this month. I know there were a few of you considering trips up here soon but were reluctant to book but it looks like you will be ok

Reports of severe frost in France that has decimated the vineyards so not a lot of wine about to buy i guess.
Very cold last night and still quite chilly although glorious sunshine, many in the Solent swimming this morning but after watching a programme on the tv last night as to what gets dumped into our rivers from sewage works illegally dumping, I will now wild swim with caution, and I see Japan are now going to pollute our oceans even further
"Japan has announced it will release more than 1m tonnes of contaminated water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea, a decision that has angered neighbouring countries, including China, and local fishers."
always said the temp of the Solent went up 10 degs when the power station opened the sluice gates, fortunately it has now closed and is going to become a leisure park
Oh! happy days0 -
Had a super day out today.
Drove to Gregynon Hall, not far from Newtown but a bit further inland into Powys. It's changed hands a few times and the Hall isn't yet open after Covid opening but you can wander around the large estate, which we did, for a good 6-7 miles. They have a wonderful Apiary of over a Million Bees, some ponds, where we espied a Yellow arum, and open woodland where we had a good days birdwatching. Anyone in the area then it's worth a visit as you'll only be charged a car parking fee of £2.50 at the moment.
It was warm this morning with some sun but a bit cloudier in the afternoon. Back home for a shower and beer.
Still just us on site but think it's changing tomorrow.

Nice to see folk are enjoying their breaks away, we are painting the kitchen cupboards about halfway after today's stint will be glad to see it done but the colour makes the kitchen lighter and matches well with the tiles. Had a sharp frost am and then sunny all day but still chilly, did manage a walk this afternoon to clear my head from painting although this paint has no smell which is unusual. Oh will get ride on mower out next week to make 1st cut on the field but have asked to leave an area for the wildlife it is an area he does not like mowing much so he is happy with that idea.
Friends of ours had their first jab yesterday and some more friends have booked theirs for 1 day after ours next week as they are in the next age group to us, at last we are speeding up and even a drive through further south from here starting today.

Great information thanks Millie👍 Some I haven’t heard of there. We rejoined HHA this morning, superb service, we now have scannable temporary downloads on my phone, so can use at Easton. I think we might leave Barnsdale for later in year, and do a trip based around spending a couple of days there, OH can take his bike around Rutland Water if he gets floral overload😂 We are in CADW, so Kirby Hall would be a free visit as well for us.
We are like big kids here at the moment, can’t wait for the off🤩

Yes, great news that we can finally travel, means we can now visit our son and family in Ayrshire, not been there since last July.
He has a drone, it has crashed and broken 2 rotors, plus needs some soldering, so he has invited us down so I can bring my small soldering iron!
We were going to have to wait till after the 26th, but can now go on Saturday if it suits them. DD, Callum and Nathan will come too......Daddy is watching football.......uncle and auntie are keen to meet their new nephew.

Timing is everything......OH just had a ping on his phone, inviting him for his second jab😕 All booked for midday Friday, so we are sorted for our trip🤩 Should get my invite for jab two between FM and Warwick trip, so fingers crossed jab timetable keeps on schedule🤞

Good news Ttda. Enjoy the trip. Must admit it was great getting away for the first time in over 6 months last week. The feeling is just as good this week as well.

We're both lucky in that we've been given our second jab dates when we had the first one so have arranged things around them, well nearly, as Mrs WNs falls in the middle of a fortnight away but it's only an hour to home and so we'll come home for the night as the jab is just after 9 in the morning.

We sort of had an idea when ours might be due, and Docs give us a range of dates and times😁
It must be nearly six months since we last had MH out, other than to get it tested. Heck of a long time. Couldn’t even take it out for day between November and January as we had that blasted scaffolding up in way. She’s fine though, probably glad of the rest😂
That black and White House in your photo looks very interesting👍0 -
Nice to hear of your day out WN. That's a new place for us to visit next time session that way.
Tda, pleased to hear that your OH has got his jab date and that it doesn't interfere with your trip to FM. We can definitely recommend Kirkby Hall, a fascinating building. Just watch out for the Peacocks!!
(Hopefully) OH's Final dental appointment today, we're so all ready now for the off in the morning. Not used to being home for such a long period of time, but must admit it wasn't too much of a burden, for me at least, however we will be glad to be off on our trips again. Fingers crossed that there isn't another lockdown.

Getting quite excited this morning - off with the caravan to our favourite CS just outside Malton - first time away since last September and the prospect of two weeks away and a change of scenery is wonderful!
Spent all of yesterday afternoon polishing the van - wasn't going to bother because it looked OK - but it was such a glorious sunny afternoon, it seemed criminal not to grab the opportunity.
Ros has her second jab on Saturday, but it's at Driffield hospital, so not too far for us to travel from our site. I'm still waiting for mine - which will no doubt come whilst we still away.
Judging by what went in the van yesterday - half of Tescos - enough clothes for six months, I think Ros has achieved her goal of using up all the available payload! Meg has been getting so excited over the last few days - she just knows something is happening

Enjoy your trips away everyone.
I'm up early as we had planned a short day trip to the coast, unfortunately a thick fog has descended so I don't think we'll see much!
I've been checking out places for our van break, we think the call for a booster will be later rather than sooner so we'll just go off in a few days time. A couple of pubs in Devon where we might have got a take away etc aren't opening till May but a beach cafe will give me a catering break. I'm trying to plan food for a non shopping stay, so it's a different feeling to the more casual holiday. Booked a garden visit in Cornwall on our way home. More planning needed than usual!

It’s a stunning morning here, wall to wall sunshine, and very warm with it. Nights are still very cold though, daren’t put my plants out. Pesky squirrels have invaded greenhouse, convinced all my neatly planted pots contain their nuts😡 Hair cut day for OH. And the pooch is scheduled for his flea treatment. I won’t mix up the two.......😂
Which garden in Cornwall Brue?

Beautiful day here, blue skies and not as cold as it has been, nights still below freezing so frost still in the mornings.
Been busy painting our bedroom, that's all the rooms in the house now done
just got the back utility room to paint but that will have to wait until its a bit warmer out there.Food shopping this morning, bought extra as I'm going to make up some meals to take away with us. First trip is only a week so don't want to waste a moment of it shopping and cooking.
Haven't heard yet about our second jab, sister had hers on Saturday. If we were following the same pattern as the first jab we would be getting ours tomorrow. BIL gets his second this Saturday, he got his first one before my sister. Things seem to be a bit out of kilter for the second one up here. Just hope we get it before the 26th as we are going away then.
As of Friday we can take the MH out for the day out with our region, watch the weather change 😕
Going out now to wash and hoover my car.

You've had a productive lockdown TG!
TDA we are hoping to do an oft repeated return visit to Trebah (booked) and Trewidden (non booked.) Last attempt ended in failure due to Covid so fingers crossed we'll get there this time round.
We managed to get down to Lyme Regis this morning, got there for 9 am, both dogs in tow, no fog on the coast. The tide was in and the sea was flat calm, beautiful morning. Not crowded but filling up gradually as we left. Had a take away coffee by the harbour and watched a gig being rowed out. Worth the early effort to get there!

Trebah😁 Gorgeous place. One of our favourites. Trewidden is on our list for September. 👍

Yah Boo Rats !!
After having had some posts on here about the sterilising of the various water tanks etc today I decided to check if the two local purveyors of such wondrous goodies were open for business. Blimey, both of them were not only open but doing what appeared to be good business as well. Sadly none of my Covid Coin Collection was spent today 'cos a certain well intentioned muppet left his wallet at home
so it means tomorrow will see me off on another drive thro' the beautiful building site that south Cheshire is turning into
. Still it means that the Dukky has had a few miles clocked up with more to comeHope that you lot have had / are having a truly wonderful time on your trips out both actual as well as those being planned and/or organised.
Have Fun and stay safe,
South Cheshire Muppet Farmer

brue lovely photos Lyme Regis used to be my mum's favourite place.
We are hoping to do Trebah and a return visit to the Lost garden of Heligan and will look up Trewidden as that could another place to see also in September.
Another lovely sunny day here although chilly this morning no frost and looks like next week is getting warmer, still doing kitchen cupboards and should finish them by Friday pm then onto a bit gardening next week.

Actually ventured into CMK today, JL, Lakeland and M&S so plenty of exercise as the shopping centre is 720 metres long. Still one of the nicest shopping centres in the country. I have obviously missed it in the last 5 months!!! Finally finish emptying the motorhome which goes in for service next week. Last year I was told off for leaving too much junk in the gas lockers, lesson learnt!!! Just got to test the water and heating now.

Stained the ballustrades on our decking on Sunday, I was frozen by the time I finished. Today, much warmer, I managed half the floor, might have got more done but for a very heavy hour of rain, then had to wait for it to dry before carrying on. Now of course it's all blue skies. It's not the staining that takes the time it's the cleaning beforehand. On Friday I will hopefully finish the other half, while trying not to disturb the blackbird sitting on her eggs in the clematis in the corner.

Had a booked slot for Powis Castle this morning. Mrs WN itching to do some drawing so I was on coffee and walk around to find something to do so don't annoy me duty, which I dutifully did.

There were rather too many numpties there this morning so after Mrs WN had completed her masterpiece we left and found a nice isolated, sort of, walk instead. Came across a pair of Mute Swans and their nest which we could see into as Mrs was off the nest. 7 beautiful but large eggs. we thought "Ow, that must have hurt". Have to get the photo transferred from the phone and see if it's any good as we didn't want to get too close. If it is I'll post it later.
Weather was weird today. We looked out at the hill opposite the CL and there was a bit of low lying mist, then 10 minutes later we couldn't see it. Drove the 4 miles to Powis and lovely sunshine, which stayed for the rest of the day.
Hope Nellie had a good drive down to his first stopover.
Your day sounded good as well Brue. We like Lyme Regis but it does get a bit overcrowded.

Here it is. Not much of a photo but there are 7 eggs in there.

Sounds like you had a good day WN, we went to Powis Castle a few years ago really enjoyed it.
Brue, yes we haven't wasted lockdown
it feels good to know that for the rest of the year we can devote to touring
just hope nothing goes wrong.Got my car washed, hoovered and even gave it a polish phew, thankfully its not a big car.
Picked up my new glasses yesterday, purse considerably lighter.

Thanks,WN, it was an easy drive down with just a slight detour when we turned off the M6 due to roadworks at the roundabout. Empty site so had choice of pitch. Walk around to Pickmere after lunch and a MH arrived after dinner this evening. On down to The Old Orchard tomorrow.

Our caravan goes in next month for the service, but I have checked most things before our first outing to Grafham Water, so am not envisaging any problems. Thanks for the reminder of the water. I'll get the Puriclean out!! 🙂

Not a particularly exciting day. OH had a phone call the day we arrived here at Salisbury advising of an MRI scan appointment. A bit less than all the way home but tedious none the less. Had to be up a bit sharpish this morning too. Car Park wasn't designed for motorhomes so just parked across several cars on the basis that I could move if the drivers returned. Managed to catch up on a few days of Facebook whilst OH was loaded into the torpedo tube. Just have to wait for what the snaps reveal.

No, Montgomery Canal.

What a smashing day, again. The CL owner has printed and laminated several walks in the area and we borrowed one today. There is a Beacon that sits atop on a local hill, the hill being called The Long Mountain. So we did a 6 mile circular walk taking in the beacon which is sited next to an old hill fort, dating back nearly 2700 years.
It was a sunny day and the views can only be described as magnificent. First half looking westwards taking in the Black Mountains to the south, Cadair Idris and Snowden straight ahead and the Berwyn Range to the north. On the return it was all Shropshire from The Wrekin past Caer Caradoc to Long Mynd. Stunning. Best walk we've done in ages with a lung bursting climb thrown in.
Skylarks, Red Kites, Ravens and loads of Buzzards.
Back for a shower and a chat with the owner who stopped the traffic on the main Welshpool by pass to rescue a Tawny Owlet that was sitting in the middle of the road. Police came along and helped. Apparently everyone was supportive so well done her.
Home tomorrow.😢😢
