"OH going to see his Mum at the care home, he gets a test before being allowed to see her. They then sit in a room all to themselves. The home seem to be coping well with all the changes they have had to make, it must be more work for them as they now have to set appointments every visitor as well as testing them."

this must be very difficult for staff, we have to travel 200 miles round trip to see MIL for a 30 minute visit,   and i have to wait in the car, we have to arrive 1 hr before visiting time, take a test, wait 30 mins for result, then 30 mins visiting, but must'nt complain OH not seen her mum since last year except on FT, hopefully as of next Monday 2 visitors will be allowed at one time so OH and sister will be able to visit together. The nursing home has only just come out of lock down after having 5 recent new cases of covid-19 so you can understand why they are so cautious.

Meeting up with Gkids this morning at the Beach house for late breakfast then a brisk circular walk with the dogs into Warsash and return. sun doing its best to appear but not holding my breath.

We had our first jabs on 1st February, second jab booked at that time by them, 11weeks and 5 days, so cutting it fine for the 12 week gap. Itching to get away but would have to dash back so decided to wait. Not moaning, feeling lucky to be getting them at all but willing it to be done now, especially now hearing others shorter gaps between them.

Not as cold this morning, when out with Rosa

,Some days we do not see anybody on our first outing (about 0645-0700) and then like this morning we had a mass (well 7) social distancing conference (except the dogs) surprised

One topic was the amount of Hi brid vehicles now in area but very few Evs and also we now  have 8 new VW campers around the area (one just obtained by one of the dog walkers) also the hi brids are all 2019 or later,as was noted there is not the charging infrastructure available for EVs one comment was that it seems EVs are owned (in this area) by those who have charging points at work, as very few can have the facility a home

Yes, similar here, surprised not only by the 8 weeks, but also as OH had hers 10 days before me, so now 9 weeks +, and she has heard nothing as yet.

Her appointment was sent out in the post and she had to attend a different centre from me, and she had Pfizer while I had AZ.

Sorting out delivery due for us and neighbours today, after this week I've managed to extend the gap but I still woke early thinking I'd got to get on line to get a slot!

I'm wondering what to do if we go away. One neighbour spends most of the day in bed. I'm hoping Wales will be released soon and I will ask their family to help....well that's the theory. (The house sale is going at a snails place for our neighbours to be nearer family.)

The sun is shining and it's slightly milder. We had some help in the garden yesterday and I need to go and do my bit to keep things going. The wood arrives for the pergola tomorrow, OH has marked out the plan on the ground...smile

I will feel better when we know about our booster jabs, we will be more free to go off somehwere or meet up with family.

Had our second Pfizer at 8 weeks almost two weeks ago now so ostensibly relatively Covid-proof. Collected MH after Hab & Damp check. Payload on wallet has now gone up. frown All raring to go now and off to Salisbury C&CC for  a few days to get back into the swing of things.

We booked our second jab at the same time as the first, so 12 weeks on the 23rd April for us, unless we hear different I suppose.  We have booked a few days at a local CL to sort out the caravan and get used to things again.  I think we may have forgotten some of the ins and outs after all these months!!

Typical April day today, can't make its mind up what to do. The only consistent thing is the wind, its not let up for days now.

Hair cut this morning for me smile didn't need much off as I've been doing it myself, its just the back that's a bit awkward.

Not heard yet about our second vaccine but should hear something soon going by others we know here.

OH's visit to his Mum went well this morning but she does need some new slippers, the ones she has are smooth soles and she keeps slipping on the uncarpeted floors (dining room and bathroom) she has Parkinson's so can't feel her feet much.

As T~G says, it's a typical April Day but at least 1 ) I managed to get stuck into burning off some weeds laughing before lunch ( coffee & a bag of crinkle cut crisps  wink )  then spent a while going thro the post.

One of my Mags turned up, but with Good news / Bad news sections --  the bad news being the likelihood of  steam engine owners needing to start searching out suppliers of coal in the not-too-distant-future yell. Sadly it seems that it will have to be sourced in Russia, South America or elsewhere,  Sheer madness !!  About as 'Green' as a bucketful of tar -- almost like importing wood chip by the ship load from Canada to power up Generating Stations.

At least there will be a few Steam Engine Rallies likely to go ahead just to cheer us up before Lock Downs 4 & 5 !!

The Prime Rally will take place on MAY 1ST !!  After a successful show in 2020 It is to be called the " TwitterSteamRally2 "  ~~  After raising almost £4000  they are hoping for the target of £5000  --  so guess where to find it  ~~>  #TwitterSteamRally2  on Facebook / Twitter

From Lickle Mamods up to dgb Marshalls  and all available on yer screen at 'ome  --  I'm hoping to get myself a new Mug  !!

I like that "We must go down to the Sea again...."  by Masefield. He got that whetted knife description just right.

It was a bit like that today when caught out in the open. Drove to Chirk Castle, had a coffee then headed in the opposite direction from everyone else and went on a circular walk over part of the estate but also found ourselves on the hillside over the other side of the River Ceiriog. A nice easy 6 miles but plenty of nature to keep us occupied.

Wind has got up back on site. Still only the 3 units on this small adult only site. Not complaining.😁

I've just been watching the canal journey on BBC 4, tonight's journey from Stratford into Birmingham covered the place where OH's bargee grandfather was born and worked and also one of my grandfather's canal side work places. My sister has a wooden stool made from wood floating in the canal outside my Grandpa's works, one of the men had a side line in making furniture from the flotsam. Nice programme although the broken locks going into Birmingham put me off attempting the same trip.

We've just watched it, first time I've known it was on and the last one! Well check out the others on catch up.

How lovely to have a family connection, it looked interesting. Wonderful that your sister has the stool too.

I've fancied a trip on the canals but those locks put me off those canals at least, especially if it's a hired boat!

Mum wrangling day for me. Hair wash and primp, then glad rags on for a jaunt out in the Jeep. Standards have to be maintained, and even a ham sandwich sat in car watching new born lambs requires a carefully coordinated ensemble😂 We drove up M1 to Stockbridge bypass, onto Woodhead, but turned off to go over Strines, out by Ladybower, brief call into Nursery just outside Hope (the most appropriately named village in England at the moment🤣), back round via Longshaw Estate, then skirted Sheffield to head home. Dinner cooked for all of us, dropped Mum home, pooch walked and I am now cream crackered!
Seen a few camper vans out, being used as day vans. Lots of preparation for outdoor eating going on at all nice pubs we passed. Fingers crossed all the touristy shops have a good Summer🤞

Tammy, it’s amazing the things you have to think of for elderly folks. We used to get decent slippers for Dad from Pavers. They do some decent wrap around stuff that won’t slip off and become a trip hazard.

We keep thinking about it. Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge aren’t too far from us, and we had a good look around barges. There are hire places on the Grand Union at Warwick as well. Not a cheap holiday though, and does require effort around locks. I think it would be a bit too laid back for me at the moment, I do like to get some walking and cycling in when away.

Saw a couple of barges going down the Shropshire Canal yesterday when over near Llangollen. Nothing to stop you doing a bit of that Ttda.

I can recommend quite a few walks from the canal and cycle rides and a few interesting historical places to visit. Anything from Ellesmere to Llangollen would be good for a 4 day hire.

There used to be a Carzvan salesman that worked for Harringtons in Delamere. Asked him one day what outfit he had. He wouldn't trust any caravan he said with a smile but did have a barge that he used on the Leeds-Liverpool canal. He was right about the caravan he sold us.yell

But is that a "Plus" WN? Less VAT on children's clothes and there's often a bargain to be found in the children's section as my OH knows full well!😁

A successful afternoon/evening on the phone. After our original energy supplier went bust, at the turn of the year, the Energy Regulator instructed EDF to take over the customers,  We had not heard from them, a bit like WN and his supplier, so phoned them up today and have been assured that everything is in hand and we will receive our contract in due course. As we will be away, probably, when it arrives we have been provided with a contact number to phone next month to get details of account etc. Then this evening contacted one of the CLs we are to visit next trip as we'd had an email requesting payment up front to make payment (reluctantly as things stand 're Covid at present).  However that's not the case and was told just to pay on arrival, provided if course that we are allowed to travel into Wales next month.

Must admit that the way things are going with ever increasing sizes and the lower end of the scale difficult to find we may very well end up there.

When does Mrs Nellie's probation finish?smile

I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been an announcement allowing the marauding hordes in yet. We'll probably find ourselves on a "Firebreak" by the time you get to Wales.

We did a canal boat from Sowerby Bridge, not to Hebden but the other way to Salter Hebble and beyond. Went with my sister and BIL for a week. Great fun but it did frustrate BIL at that time as he was wanting to go faster laughing couldn't sit still for the life of him.

Where there was a few locks together we sent him off on foot ahead laughing we got as far as Stanley Ferry East of Wakefield, from there on the locks are electric assisted and it gets much easier. OH and I would like to do one again but not with those 2, they both snore enough to wake the dead laughinglaughinglaughing

We have been home styling. OH keeps his hair short anyway, so I am used to occasionally clipping him, in between times he wants a bit more style, but his Summer preference is very short anyway. Things get more complicated with me, had my long tresses shorn a few years ago, now usually sport a layered shortish look. Convinced him just to trim around my ears, and neaten up back, but he says it’s been the most stressful bit of lockdown, having to trim my hair🤣 Still looks ok, but I am losing my layers.

He’s an easy cut after fettling dogs and horses.👍Moans a bit more about any sprutters not tidy though!😂

Decent hair scissors are the key. I was getting no where with the paper hanging scissors🤣

I don't remember the last time I went to the barbers.  My father always used to cut my hear when I lived at home.  Since I got married (some 42 years ago) my wife has always cut my hair.  Not that it needs doing very often these days......  Not much left!  laughinglaughing

Off to the caravan today to quickly clean the inside (outside done last week), and to put in bedding, towels, throws (to protect seats for dog) and Safefill gas bottles.  Will go via screwfix to pick up silicone spray to treat all rubber seals.

On the way back, a quick visit to Pets at Home vets to pick up the dogs heart tablets and to get her claws clipped.
