What are you all up to

We are packed and ready for the "big off" tomorrow morning, leaving early with the hope that the traffic will not be too chaotic. It is almost exactly 4 months since we came home from Cornwall having heard that my brother had died; Dad's gone too now so a sad few months but really looking forward to a new beginning now. We are fortunate in that our neighbours have been on site throughout keeping an eye on things for us, so all should be ok (but I'll breathe a bit easier once I've turned the water on without discovering any great disaster!)
Best of luck to all who are travelling tomorrow or in the coming weeks - better times have arrived, but let's all just remain vigilant, keep ourselves and everybody else as safe as possible.

Safe travels moulesy. Hope all is well. Have a great time.
Safe travels to mr and mrs WN as well.
We have no immediate plans as I am still waiting to hear about my cataract op🤔. We are looking forward with hope to meeting up with our N Ireland son and family at Staithes in July.

- A strange day here weather wise too. We took our day van out a drive along the coast to Ayr beach which was very busy but nice to see people out enjoying the sun. We made a cup of tea and just sat in the van enjoying the view and got an ice cream from the little cafe. Our plan was to head home and have a BBQ but when we got home the snow started and it was freezing so that plan was abandoned it’s now pouring 3 seasons in one day from ice cream in the afternoon to coats in the evening lol. Checked the caravan battery when we got home which was showing a bit low so have plugged the van in to charge the battery up next weekend will be cleaning out the inside of the van ready for the off at the end of this month can’t wait. Good luck to all heading out this week

That’s disappointing Millie, but not really surprised. We shall visit another time. Many thanks for the information.
M, hope you have a good break down there in Cornwall, been a tough few months for you👍

Yes tda I do hope you will visit another time. It would be good to see you. Hooefully life will get more cheerful soon. I am doing some revision with my guiding mentor in the hope that the tours will resume before too long. I hope you enjoy your trip wherever you decide to go.

Safe journey to all those that are setting off tomorrow, we will be doing so a couple of days later.
Completed waxing the car this afternoon, after having given Flyte a well needed bath. Will hoover it out tomorrow and put the caravan on charge, like you Francis. For most of the day we had sunshine with a cold breeze, but like other had a short snow shower, but not sufficient to cover the ground. Some of the Lakeland Fells, the Howgills and Whernside were wearing a snow cap from the snowfall over the last few days.

It’s a good job you didn’t mix those two up Nellie...Bath the car, and wax the dog🤪Safe travels for your next tour, we are off as well soon, jabs permitting.

Hope you have a good journey moulesy, and enjoy Cornwall, the weather looks set fair for this week, so have a good break. Always a bit of a worry the first visit after winter. We were going to ours today but change of plan, concerned the traffic and site would be busy. Also we would have had to rush back for our second jab appointment. Itching to go and see our new/second hand van for the first time. We need to unpack everything that we boxed up last autumn. Like you our lovely neighbours are keeping an eye on it. They have just sent us photos of our new decking. I can't wait.

It started snowing this morning when out with Rosa very frosty windscreens being cleared

A lot more out early with their dogs before going to work?
Yesterday afternoon met a couple i had not seen for months, dogs had not forgotten each other ,during conversation found out they both had been doing long hours him from mostley home doing IT ,and her at work as a micro biologist at Imperial College in South Kensington, and had been commuting by train some times seven days ,
She was quite upset by the way some had "latched on" to reports of blood clots, causing the vacine programme to "falter" as she said social and other types of media are really only telling what will make headlines ,not what should really be "out there" and said all the new vacines will have an effect on tiny amounts of people but the side effects of others had yet to be identified
And as she said no one queries when they buy paracetamol, which amongst others, can be in a Few give far more negative side effects

Lawn had a covering of snow early on, but all gone now and glorious sunshine, not actually going away until 1st week in May, but not too bothered, will have coffee in the caravan when i return from walking pooch
Caravan almost ready to go, some of the bulky stuff awning etc we store in the garage so that we can use the caravan for guests etc, but it is all in a cage in the garage so no real problems moving to caravan. 0 -
Good Post LockDown Morning Everybody
.Up late today but no fretting, still remembered the URGENT JOBS !!
All done correctly and in due order, so now I'm waiting a phone call by w/end from pharmacy to say my latest bucket load of medications is awaiting collection, and then I can check with Senior Chief Pharmacist as to which painkillers are advised for me to use before I go to my newest Appointment at the baaa-baaa-barbers a fortnight tomorrow afternoon
.Snow covering all now gone, but bird bath still a bit firm on top

Lovely sunny day here today. Got my 2nd vaccine this morning got the first one at the beginning of Feb so not quite 12 weeks but I’m not complaining. Hope I am not ill all day tomorrow as I was with the first one but apparently the side effects of the 2nd dose aren’t as bad

I had my second vaccine on Friday, no side effects at all this time. Our son also had the AZ vaccine last week with no ill effects.
We have had several days of sunny weather, but also a couple of snowfalls, though it melted pretty much immediately.
Still keeping busy at DD's house, OH doing washing, dishwashing and baby walking while I get on with working through "the list".
We are having Wednesday and Thursday off to do stuff at home instead

Glad to hear that it's looking good for the Family KjellNN as far as the vaccine goes
but please remember you are not Yet Immortal !!Gloriously sunny here in Crewe, but some 'orrible great clouds out there and temperatures now slowly dropping.
Neighbour ( across the road ) has turned up at last -- he is normally absent for long stretches working in East Anglia but this time he was fighting for his life but successfully so ! Just serves as a reminder to us old fogies that the younger ones, often with no symptoms at all, can be taken so very poorly just like that !

Our local news is showing pictures of traffic queuing on the M5 into the South West today. We are already getting very busy here. Rates dropping here, just lets hope people still act responsibly. I failed to get a hairdressing appointment this week or next, I'm first in the 'any cancellation queue', but won't hold my breath.

Had an easy drive down to Welshpool to our next CL this morning and were met by 2 Pygmy Goats as we entered the premises. Friendly enough if a little wary of strangers but fine when the owner is present.
The CL is in a beautiful location but is 1 mile down single track farm road. However it's not used by anyone who doesn't want to be along it, like a cut through for example. We're billy no mates for a couple of days before others join in.
There were quite a few outfits on the roads this morning but I expected a few more,
Had a lovely 5 mile walk after lunch along the old Montgomery canal. It's nice being able to walk out from site.
Think we'll enjoy it here as there are Barn, Little and Tawny owls in the immediate area plus a few Swallows have just arrived.
Hope any one else on the road such as Moulesy arrived safe and sound.

Thanks, WN. Yes we had an easy journey down, seems it paid to leave early (6am) and down here by 9:30 including a breakfast stop at Victoria Services, a first for us, not as good as the garden centre just round the corner, but they're still not open yet (the cafe). Friends on site who also came down today were not so lucky and got held up your a jack knifed lorry on the A30.
Quick unpack and then up to Penhale Dunes where Ralph decided a spot of gymnastics was in order (fortunately avoiding all the fix poo!) and then on to the beach at low tide this afternoon. Think we've just about tired the two dogs out (and the two humans to be honest) but doubtless they'll be up bright and early in the morning.

Here for almost a fortnight, then home for both of us to visit the hairdressers (barber in my case). A week at home then we've got our cottage up near Matlock which was intended for the cancelled Irish Setter Rescue walk last year. It's obviously been cancelled again this year as well, so we'll have to do our own sponsored walk and send a donation.

Shame as we'll just miss you. We're taking MiL to a cottage near Bakewell for 4 nights at the end of this month as she has had both of her cottage visits from last year cancelled so we arranged a short break for her. We'll be home before you arrive.
Enjoy it your fortnight away. Just the 4 nights again for us this week.

The way predictive text works on this Kindle it's a wonder I didn't.

Do you have a date for your next jabs, and where are you planning to visit?

Good to hear that both M and WN have arrived at their respective destinations safely and enjoyed pleasant walks. Hope other that have set off today have arrived without incident.
OH had her visit to the hairdressers this morning, so that's a weight off her mind!!😁 Like JVB we picked up sufficient medication to last our trip away, pills for her and beer for me.😉 Just a couple of appointments at the dentist tomorrow and a quick visit to the shops for perishables and that should be us right for the off.

No jab dates yet, OH is due his second before end of month. We have Ferry Meadows on the agenda first, just looking at places to visit while in area, or travelling there and back. Might do Barnsdale if I can twist OH’s arm. Been putting a few things in MH, only one of two more odds and sods to sort out now. Really looking forward to a trip away, but with our luck, I bet the jabs appointments turn up. No matter, it’s why we chose somewhere not too far. We have Warwick Racecourse booked next month, again not far because of possible jab dates. Then it’s a long cottage trip in June, up to Borders.
Hope you all have a good safe time. M, if you are in Matlock area, can recommend a visit around Cromford Mill, and a walk along Cromford Canal👍 Haddon Hall isn’t far either, and we love it more than Chatsworth, lovely gardens, very old.

Can I suggest a stop off or a trip out from FM to Easton Walled Gardens TDA? It is just off the A1 near Coltsterworth just south of Grantham. It is one of our favourite places. Yes Barnsdale is good as well. The Gardens of Surprises and Sculpture Garden is open at Burghley as well.

That looks idyllic moulesy. Hope you have a lovely fortnight. You deserve it after your sad and difficult time recently.
Glad you arrived safely WN..Hope you have a good time as well.
Glad your OH has had her haircut nellie. I am having mine cut tomorrow 😁. Have a good and safe trip. Hope everyone else venturing forth soon has a good time.

Good to hear people being out and about on their travels!

Will take a look at Easton WG Millie😁 Thank you for that one could be perfect for travelling down or going home. We considered Burghley, I have been before, but wait wait to do house as well. We intend rejoining Historic Houses this year, so will hope it’s still part of that scheme. 👍

It was minus two when I got up this morning at the C&CC site at Salisbury where we arrived yesterday via the weigh bridge near home. Only 40Kg to play with although I have couple of chunks of timber, supposedly for the warned of slope, but not required and a bit of kit that I'm passing on to the OH's niece for their new PVC. So about 50Kg which isn't much once we can head "over there" again for some cheap plonk. Dare I encourage OH to go on a diet? Dangerous times.
0 -
I dont suppose you will be able to bring back much plonk from over there now CY. Presumably we will be restricted to the amount we could bring back in the old days before we joined the EU.

Burghley House is still in the HHA scheme at the moment TDA as is EWG.Once the houses open we have a good number of nice ones in this area. Deene Hall and park and Elton Hall are 2 good ones. When you come to FM you might like a trip out to Kirby Hall. The hall isnt open yet but the grounds are and you can get a good look at the outside which is magnificent. It is Elizabethan. English Heritage run it now.
Beautiful sunny day here. Clear blue sky. It was chilly first thing but is really quite warm now. The garden beckons. Not sure whether for sitting or working 😁
