Nice when you are in the sun but a bit nippy in the wind. Overall it's better than it's going to be!smile Still getting the caravan ready for our Winter Break.

Just received a letter from out Health Board inviting me to attend the Breast Screening Centreundecided However on further investigation it's for an AAA screening. they state they have just restarted the screening programme.laughing As I'm home in 3 weeks time I'll attend.

A friend has been clearing out her parent's shed and found this. She asked if OH wanted it. OH says he has no idea what it is but will enjoy finding out. Apparently it is labelled 'a cultivator'. Any ideas anyone?

It's for breaking up heavy soil. A sort of cheap gym membership.

I use mine all the time Millie, wouldn't be without it. I use it for turning the soil between plants. Especially useful when you have plants close together and can't or don't want to kneel and use a trowel to turn the soil. Just turn the handle a little with the prongs just in the soil. Haven't got a clue what it's called but accept it, it is so useful, saves your back as well.

Milliehull I agree with cyberyacht and DEBS re the tool.  I'm delighted to know DEBS uses one a lot, I have eyed them up often. I have always kneeled and used a hand fork between plants my very full borders.

Been very very chilly here, even feel cool indoors with the heating on. Been grey here again today.

Started the morning with a vet visit, Dora had a slight discharge from her eye yesterday, I bathed it with salt water, this morning I had to bathe it so she could open it 😱. No damage to her eye so cream for it for a week, the vet put the first dose in. So short walk through the park home and a long walk late afternoon opposite way round to usual. Shes flat out now.

Good luck to all those having Easter celebrations with family or friends in the garden ❄🌬.

It is a cultivator powered by the operator rather than an engine, it should have a two handed handle at the top 90degs from shaft

Seriously worth getting Bakers, especially in your, 'very full borders', saves all the kneeling and easier and quicker than a hand fork. Especially handy in the spring, a light turnover and you are not accidentally turning up those plants you didn't know we're there.

I've got a very lightweight Wolf multi-change cultivator attachment, I can't manage anything too heavy and it's useful.

Thanks very much folks. I can see it is going to be very useful especially as I find kneeling very difficult these days (especially the getting up bit 🤣). Thanks for the info.

Another cold grey day here again. I really envy those of you with the sun. I took a birthday present round to a friend today but didnt stay long as it was just too cold to stay in her garden for too long. We are forecast a sunny but chilly day here tomorrow before the Beast from the North arrives on Monday. I am keeping my fingers crossed as we are meeting our eldest son and family for a walk. I think I will be wearing my winter woollies 😁.

Happy Easter all. I hope the weather behaves for those planning outside family gatherings.

Very useful tool Millie, saves a lot of bending👍 You can get a short version for kneeling as well.
It’s been a day in garden for me today again. Last bit of bed tidying done. So it’s regular titivating now to keep things looking nice. Three pots I had put out safely back in greenhouse, forecast is -2c tomorrow night🥶

OH has given MH a big wash, me holding ladders for him to do roof. Didn’t take too long, ready for polishing now, then interior spring cleaned.

Our dry weather is still a feature, lovely while sun is out, can work in a t shirt, but it drops very cold later on.

I wonder if it results in too much wrist twisting? How easy it is to use might well depend on the type of soil. Probably less easy to use in heavy clay? I have started to collect Wolf Garten multi change tools which allows different length handles which avoids kneeling. They are well made, see here

The Cultivator is a great garden tool.  OH has used ours for years, can be hard on the shoulders/back but he still prefers it to kneeling.   Happy Easter to you B2 and to all on CT.

That's why I've hesitated, good old Essex clay 😱. Only have a very limited number of hours when its workable, despite years of good compost additions. Fill the borders full enough no room for weeds!

These days my hands hurt regardless of the task 😢. Speaking of which well done brue on the chair covering. I tackled one with my mum years ago, looked so simple once the material was the correct shape. Hats off the the professionals, who make it look like a walk in the park! Ours isn't perfect but does have memories, some laughing happy ones but if you think about the actual chair more naughty words and short tempers 🤣.

Camellia looking splendid still, and just to wet your appetites, this is Peniscola as seen through my daughters camera yesterday laughing

Delighted to say on a new to me dog walk, with an acquaintance and her 2 dogs, the sun came out and by the end, about 1.5 hours I felt I was overdressed. Its now clear blue and 13c in the shade.

One very tired dog, dinner prepared and lawn mower out.

Hope you are all as lucky.

Well the nice weather didn’t last it’s very dull and cold here today so not a day to do much. I did go out and give the Volvo a wash but apart from that it will be a day in the house catching up on programmes we have recorded.

Happy Easter to all on CT

Same to you Francis and the rest of you. Hope you get away as soon as you are allowed.

Turned out fine and sunny here in North Wales, in fact it was rather toasty at the front of the house, where I was prepping the car for our mad dash to a campsite on Tuesday when Hell might actually freeze over if the forecast is to be believed. Actually, it just looks cold with a chill wind but we'll find things to do.

Checked our Scottish Power account and lo and behold they've actually done it at last.👍. We've just celebrated with our equivalent of an Easter Egg, namely a Magnums Ice Cream.🍦

Trying to sort out somewhere for next week now but we have to come home on Saturday to take MiL for her second jab.

The gods were with us, we had a lovely day in the garden with daughter and partner, first family roast dinner fo many months, it seemed strange cooking for more than two. We didn't have to wear coats!

Visiting dog here for the night as they are doing a ten mile walk tomorrow and his legs are getting a bit old. They've been covering stretches of the Dorset coast, the next one starts at Hardy's Monument towards Weymouth. Forecast not so good.

Spoke to grandson in the NE, we had a whatsapp tour of all the things he has been making and collecting. They're off for walk on Hadrian's Wall tomorrow...I think they might need skis and bobble hats`....wink

Mixed day here. It started off well, lovely sunny day, warm out of the bit of breeze, OH all revved up for a big bike ride, me on dog walk duties. Then......a strange wet patch on top of landing. All eyes suspiciously swivel to the dog, but no, his old legs won’t climb that far unless invited nowadays.🤔 Then we look up, slight drip of water from ceiling😱 Turns out a pipe under attic floor had fractured. So much digging around for bits to mend it. Easter Sunday, the one Sunday of the year no shops open.  First bit of pipe too short, but a knock on a neighbour’s door (he’s a builder🙏🤞) and yes, length of pipe and some easy fit joints. Bottle of wine and an Easter Egg for him tomorrow. Thankfully didn’t impinge too much on our Easter dinner together, but the bike ride was abandoned. At least it didn’t happen while we were away.

Plants all wrapped up warm, it’s forecast -2c here overnight with possibility of snow🥶

We have had a cracking day weathwerwise. Wall to wall sunshine. Very cold with a frost first thing though. We went to the Eastet Day service in the Cathedral this morning. The first service in there since Christmas. So lovely to be back even though we had to be well socially distanced which meant a much smaller congregation than would be usual at Easter. We went for a walk in bluebell wood with eldest son and his family and dog this afternoon. Glorious weather. Like bakers 2 I was overdressed as it got quite warm! OH and I sat in the late afternoon sun with a cup of tea after we got back. It will be staying indoors trying to keep warm tomorrow.

So pleased you had good weather for your garden lunch with your daughter and her partnet brue.

Glad you have at last had success with scottish power WN. Your persistance paid off. Well done.

Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects -- being alert is important for any / all age groups.

watch for the following symptoms :--

       Bouts of extreme smugness.

Sense of superiority over anybody who has not had a vaccine

Absurd curiosity over whether your friends have had AstraZeneca or  Pfizer.

A compelling desire to photo your vaccination card and post it on social media.

       Misguided feelings of immortality

Ability to annoy the hell out of 20-year-olds by asking "When are you going to have yours . . . Oh, they've run out have they"

Failure to understand why you still cannot go on a foreign holiday.

Wherenext good news on your power struggle.

Brue and Milliehull  how lovely to enjoy your family day.

    ABM what can I say?

Very grey here, wind has got up. About 5am, and our always slightly open, fanlights blew wide open. No plans at the mo, but I we haven't moved yet, apart from dog walk.

I think talking about vaccinations has replaced talking about the weather 😁. Having said that it is grey and cold here with a few flakes of snow ❄😳. After our day off yesterday it is back to painting our hall, stairs and landing. Keep warm everyone.

Had an interesting half hour yesterday. My nephew called round to show me his new 'company' car, an all electric Jaguar I-Pace HSE. It looks a really nice bit of kit. Unfortunately I don't think it will be any good as a tow car because of the range. When he go the car my nephew only had a 13 amp extension lead to use to charge it. It took 30 hours to go from 50% to 100%. He gets a faster charger this week but he's still got to plan his weeks once he's back at the office, (he works from home at present). His commute is about 150 miles each day which will mean that as soon as he gets home he's got to plug it in straight away. He was warned by the supplying dealer to go easy on using all the 'toys' built in, especially the heated seats or the cooled seats for hot weather. These will reduce the range considerably.

The icing on the cake was when he asked me if I'd like to take it for a drive. I didn't say "no". Boy, does it move! There's a dual carriageway close to home that I dropped on to. The slightest touch on the accelerator and the car shot up to over 70mph within a couple of seconds. It took some holding back. I'd love to take it somewhere (legal) to see just what it can do. An amazing vehicle but at £73,000 it certain could never be for me, unfortunately.cry Surprisingly the car wasn't actually built by Jaguar but a company in Austria.

Another interesting comment that my nephew made (he's in the car manufacturing industry) was how some car manufacturers may be interpreting the 'law' about new ICE vehicles being sold after 2030. It appears that some, and I hope I understood him correctly, are saying this is new models of cars and therefore existing ICE models can still be produced. Lutz may be able to clarify this.

"A compelling desire to photo your vaccination card and post it on social media"

am going to laminate mine and take a photo using my smart phone so that i have proof in 2 places laughing

"Failure to understand why you still cannot go on a foreign holiday."

I understand it, something very fishy across the channel and some folk so very jealous over our vaccination programme they are prepared to sacrifice theirs undecided

but who cares if the side effects are having some great weather at home, doing things we have never done for years and years, off to blue bell wood tomorrow, and the pleasure of seeing family for a BBQ even if you have to sit outside under the bunsen burnerlaughing

Woke up to a dusting of snow, now melting as it's a sunny but very cold windy day. This time last week it was 18C!
