OH is very disappointed as he wasnt given a badge when he had his covid jab like all those people that were interviewed on TV 😁

The Cathedral has decided today that there will be no communal worship until the situation improves. Online services only. Also it will only be open for private prayer for 2 hours a day 12.00 - 2.00 so I shall only go in once a fortnight. It is disappointing but understandable as they want to keep everyone as safe as possible while being accessible for those who need it. A very difficult balancing act.

I am a bit worried as after reading the criticism of Boris after he travelled 7 miles for a bike ride I checked on google maps to see how far we are from Ferry Meadows and it is 6.7 miles. We have tried to be good these last few months and in the main have only gone there for walks and not travelled more than 10 miles to go for a walk. We decided to go yesterday though and had a really good walk in a quieter area away from the main busy walks and felt so much better for getting out. I hope we can continue to do so.

Good news on the scaffolding front tda!!

Lots of good news stories today. Keeping away from the Covid threads. Too depressing sometimes.

Lovely day here, especially this morning. All of us got out for a decent walk. Sun was missing occasionally this afternoon and you could feel it.

Mrs WN just read out a story seen on the web. A couple in Canada have been fined nearly £900 for breaking a nightime curfew. Only excercise at night is for emergencies or dog walking. They were caught by police as the wife was walking her husband who was on a leash!😱😀

Hope none of the females on here are considering this.🤔

Managed out for a walk this afternoon in lovely sunshine, only trouble is my old problem (lower back) has returned frown haven't had any trouble from it since retiring almost 10 years ago. Must be all the up and down ladders and crawling round the floor doing skirting boards that's set it off. Time to take it easy for awhile and take the pills.laughing

We have just heard that our flights to Lanzarote in March are to be cancelled phew! quite pleased about that, as yesterday we moved our weeks at the timeshare to the end of the year.

Thankfully for once the gods are shining on us. It was a gamble moving the weeks before we heard about the cancellation of flights but we figured that if/when the flights are cancelled lots of folk will be looking at changing their weeks so availability will be low.smile

Will now need to sort out some campsites for March/April in the hope that we will be allowed out to play by then.

Not been up to much, but have managed to get out for a walk each day, but its getting difficult to find somewhere quieter,  our New local park between the two new housing estates gets very busy at weekends, and the canal towpath is too narrow for comfort!  so we have taken to walking the paths around the estate.

Had a chat with eldest son, they hope to get a completion date for New house soon. They are still allowed to move but we can't help them. frownBoth him and his girlfriend have now recovered from the virus, and back working from home.

Been quiet at work too, home early again today. smile

Whooo.........exciting here. Major power cut across town. Big area out, just hope hospital is ok. So it’s plenty of candles out, thank heavens for stove, warmth and light. Remembered the old trick of putting candles in front of mirrors, works a treat!😁

Ee bah gum, it’s just like 1970’s ‘ere. No pack of cards though, and tethered to iphone😂

Made an executive decision tonight. Ooohhh, haven't made, or been allowed to make, one of those since retirement.smile

Left the house at about 6.30, drove to Tesco Extra, which has a small M&S nearby and an Aldi. Mrs WN did Marks, I did Tesco and we both did Aldi for some small specialist items. Must have seen less than 20 shoppers in total. Woo Hoo, as ABM might say. Decided as it was so quiet to overstock so both freezers now full. Back home 90 minutes later.

All cleaned and sanitised, as is the shopping. Glass of red to hand. Trying to steer clear of families in shops so thought that the time might help.

Just as an aside, Mrs WN reports that the demisting cloth bought recently from her opticians works great at keeping glasses clear. It's from Hoya and called Clear-it (Anti fog wipes). Just less than a £5 and lasts 2 months at least.

    Lovely sunny day here.

Our new shower tray arrived on schedule.....it looks huge!   Heavy too, 34 kg, the delivery guy brought it to the doorstep, took a photo, looked at me (little old man with white hair)  and said......" you are not going to lift that, are you?"

I said  "yes, of course"  so he left.  Got it into the house, unwrapped and inspected, looks fine, then OH helped take it through to the front bedroom, now laid flat, wrapped in a sheet.  Will stay there till the builders come.....that could be a while!

Ordered the new towel warmer, that should  come  on Monday.  Next thing is the shower enclosure.

It would come as a profound shock to my OH to find that there are two 6.30’s in a day😂Very first thing he did on retiring was outing the alarm. Not that he heard it most mornings anyway.......

Good to hear that the scaffolding has been removed, so back to hear normal now I guess, tda, and that your power has been restored too.

WN, we too do our main shopping in the early evening, although it's usually just after 5:30, but the shops are nice and quiet then here.

Received a letter today with the date of my next appointment to speak to my consultant at the hospital....first week in March. More appointments to come this week too, stitches out tomorrow and then going to our neighbour 's funeral on Thursday afternoon.frown

We had a heavy frost through the night and the cars were all frozen up and the ground was white again. However the sun soon drove it off and we had a pleasant if cold day. Freezing again now though, and should the rain, that's forecast, arrive early the roads could well be tricky.

It's t'other half that has that problem. You need a fire alarm! God bless her she did try early on in the first lockdown. At local Tesco for 7.30 a.m. Good job she wasn't driving. When things quitened down we switched to early evening or late afternoon.

We found December very trying. Waiting for 5 days to see if any reaction. Hate it.

Good to see you're fully functional again, and the powers back on.😂

Normally referred to as a " great barrel of lard "  actually Nellie but I have to tell MillieH that I got well used to paying by card  embarassed  since I walked down to my friend's { !! } garage when he told me that the dukky was now fixed  ( laughing ) and ready for collection ( for a fee money-mouth )

Anyway exceedingly pleased to get t'motor back 'cos the vax site is about 3/4 mile away, easily walkable but no cover and the forecast is for undiluted sogginess in South Cheshire tomorrow. So now I can get shopping done, including cat treats, then round to aged sister to drop some of the goodies off for her & her moggie and talk her out of her latest balmpot idea !! She admits to being unable to walk as well as she could so she has been perusing magazines, rear portions of w/end papers thinking of getting a new toy,  an EXERCISE BIKE  for pities sake.  I'll have problems controlling my incredulity to morrow, just hope I calm down at Vax Jab time yell

Now pulleese take care, obey the C19 rules, and stop laughing at A B M kiss

Yes tda. It is all online. I am no good at sending links but just google Peterborough Cathedral and you will find it all on their website. There is a talk by historian Sarah Gristwood on the Friday eve 29th which I have booked into, also the services. The guy giving the Old Scarlett tour for the children is who I am usually on duty with on Tuesday mornings. I watched them film it a few weeks ago.  I have just been sent an email to say that the Churches Conservation Trust are running a whole series of what look like really interesting lectures. They are free but ask for a donation. We had our U3A zoom lecture last night about hoaxes in the 18th century. Excellent talk and speaker. I am just so grateful that there are so many good online talks. A company called Mirthy are also running some talks.

My embroidery project is going quite well. I found the instructions difficult to follow so I am doing my own thing.

Goodness ABM an exercise bike and your aged sister dont sound like a good combination 😳. Glad you have your MH sorted.

I watched an on line episode of Rick Stein's Cornwall last night, the one with the painter Kurt Jackson. When our daughter was visiting family in West Penwith they were filming it at Cape Cornwall. There was also a visit to a lovely apple orchard and the gardener was just like the Cornish farmer we knew years ago...it made me want to buy another apple tree but OH said no!! So someone else will have to buy a Devon or Cornish Crimson Queen. wink 🍎

Whittaker. We lost our old Victoria plum last year and planted another smaller type in it's place, a "Mirabelle," we nearly lost that too but we think it has survived. We have a damson leaning at 45 degrees so don't know if that will last another summer, we've propped it up hoping for the best.

DSB if you buy an apple now you'll be able to enjoy the blossom this Spring!

Millie, sound like a lovely idea, cherry blossom is beautiful. smile

ps TDA I always get a "chill" when I see Fotheringhay, there is something about the place.
