What are you all up to

The chap that came did say things are a bit haphazard, some getting done every week while others have had gaps between visits. Not always the same person either. To be honest we had forgotten all about volunteering.
Didn't know about getting paid for it, theres nothing in the paperwork.
NTH, glad the little op went well and you will get your jab shortly. As Kj said your practice is early and well organise. We are hearing about some over 80s that are being done now so that is good news.

We have just been watching on BBC News a piece about the Marine and Spurs match on Sunday. Apparently Marine's ground is surrouned by houses and their gardens. They reported that there are notices up with numbers to ring when the ball goes into one of the gardens. Brilliant! That gave us the best laugh we have had for ages 🤣.
Happy birthday to Mrs WN.

Milliehull that made us chuckle too. Unhappy about football continuing, if a player gets injured don't they need NHS??
Happy birthday Mrs Wherenext
Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Tammygirl. It was ours on Tuesday, 41 didn't celebrate last year 2 days before mums funeral, didn't do in the summer aimed to do this year 🤣🤣. Had a really delicious afternoon tea for 2 delivered.
Glad your op went ok nelliethehooker and great news on vaccination.

Happy Anniversary to both Tammygirl and Bakers2 🥳

Yes, it’s quite a hoot that one. This time last year we were on our way up to Middlesbrough to watch Spurs in FA cup. It’s was very cold and wet, and those pampered Spurs players took a while to get going. It’s always good fun watching multi millionaires slithering in mud, bitter cold with snow falling.
congrats to all those with things to celebrate😁

Happy Anniversaries to TG and Bakers2. I love the thought of your afternoon tea Bakers2. 🎂🍰☕. Such a great idea

Thank you for your good wishes folks.
Milliehull I got the idea from our local neighbourhood fb page, recommendations from there too. As it's silly early in the year, and this year in the week too there wasnt much choice in suppliers of meals delivered or afternoon tea. Had a choice to 3, the one I used for my aunts 60th anniversary isn't doing them at present. One didn't deliver as far as us, I'd have to collect, it was ordered day before and delivered about noon. OH wouldn't eat a caramel shortbread or chocolate brownie, no pleasing some folk 😉 and she said she'd substitute those items but as she made fresh daily it would be a surprise. He got lemon drizzle and Victoria sandwich. Nicely presented too together a note saying happy anniversary. It did us for lunch and dinner.
As it's my birthday in a few weeks we'll be trying another one and hopefully have a meal delivered too!
Edit son and DIL sent flowers by post when they arrived I was doubtful but they've turned out beautifully and the stocks smell divine. Photos of those too

That looks delicious B2.....congratulations to you, and to all those with birthdays and anniversaries.
The afternoon teas are very popular, and good. Last June DD had one for her birthday, enough for the second day too when we were invited, she made new sandwiches. In December she ordered one for OH's birthday, also delicious, with Prosecco and special tea.
It will be Callum's third birthday in just over 2 months, hope we can at least have a small party by then.

Hope you enjoyed the afternoon tea B2. Belated congratulations. I think JVB also had a cream tea delivered, hope that went down well too.

I've ordered some Betty's fat rascals and curd cakes, just as a treat...I've got some old bananas looking at me and I've lost the will to turn them into a cake, but I will tomorrow.

Mrs WN actually wished it was a year later as she would fall into a higher category and therefore theoretically get a jab quicker.

Congrats to The Tammys and Bakers. Any idea Tammy what you'll do for your 50th next year? We're only up to 42 in March so Bakers and us lot will, hopefully, be planning in 7 years time. I fancy NZ but may bump into the Bakers on the plane. We could bore people senseless before we got to Singapore.😂
You were lucky Helen. I understand some BG people on strike.

Happy anniversary to B2 and OH and to TG and OH. Jealous of those treats Bakers. We have been decorating again today that’s the woodwork in the bedroom all painted and gas man has been and removed the old gas heater that was in that room so a bit of plastering to do tomorrow then paint the ceiling and walls hoping to be finished next week then it’s just a case of choosing and arranging for a carpet to be fitted. A night in front of the telly tonight and a few drinks for us since it’s the weekend.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Brue if you don't fancy doing a banana cake tomorrow put the bananas in the freezer and do it later. Got that tip from my daughter, I was horrified when she produced these black solid things when we were last in NZ and asked if I'd make cake while she was at work. She said she did it all the time it would be fine, and she was right. Last time I cleared the freezer I found 6 😱. They're still there!

Wherenext it would be lovely to share a flight with you, via Singapore or anywhere........ If you do decide, and its allowed!, on NZ go for as long as you can. It's much bigger than you give it credit for and plenty to see. Plus takes awhile to get your body the right way round 😉. We spent our 30th there, for once a January anniversary meant lovely weather.......

I might just have a dabble at that, thanks. Have started to watch the 1st episode of HSB on 4All. It's a greatest to introduce all the characters, just wish other series did likewise.
Freezing again last night but it had started to thaw this morning, although some of the pavements were still lethal with black ice. Most of the day has been fine with just an odd speck of snow, but we do have a light covering now and just hope that it did freeze tonight.

Thanks TG, millie and Helen too ( and any others I've not named). The nose is not so sore today and looks a sight better after having given it a number of salt water washes. It certainly seems that the medical centre here is well organised, although they did run out of suppliers one afternoon last week and some, who had been waiting, had to have their vaccinations postponed.
Congratulations to those having wedding anniversaries today and next week.

Thanks to all for the best wishes.
It certainly was spent different to 49 years ago
although the weather was the same.Happy Anniversary to the Bakers, that tea looked lovely, never thought of doing something like that.
WN, next year could well be a cruise if things look better. Two years ago we did the second leg of a world cruise, we fancy the third leg next time but its the far east so might have to wait untill another time

Was thinking of one for OHs 70th this July the Baltic one we fancy but it might be a bit to soon to risk it.

One of my English cousins is doing a family tree and has tracked down our mutual NZ cousin. Her father was my uncle but I never met him. He was one of those unsung heroes in WW2 who spent his wartime travelling the Atlantic in Merchant ships. He decided to emigrate after the war and fancied NZ. Unfortunately he's now passed away.
So I thought I might sort of drop in unannounced. Hopefully we're both still here. Want to visit Singapore again as I left it as a 5 year old.

We have heavy frost but no snow🤷🏻♂️🙁. West Yorks & North Yorks are calling another ‘Beast from the East’ we’ve been bypassed.

TG, I can recommend the Baltic. We did it in 2012. 2019 was our silver and we had a month on QM2 to NY, New England and Quebec. OH is suffering withdrawal symptoms as we haven't done another cruise since then.

For sure👍🏻, on the upside-it ain’t flooded other than in low lying areas of fields. Particularly around the sheep field/geese pond atwixt Preston & Sproatley😂😂
