Apparently he has overridden his Defence Secretary who wanted to withdraw the huge Aircraft Carrier from the Straits of Hormuz and there is an awful lot of USA weaponry there at the moment. Some people fear that this may be the reason the incumbents are not talking to Bidens crew as they know they wouldn't agree with any action. Very scary with someone on the very edge in charge.

I think it is worse than that, at least Custer's (or Crazy Horse's) men weren't fighting their own. this is almost civil war here?

I have nightmares thinking he might fire off a nuke at Iran on his last day. We're dealing with a petulant child who has always bullied to get his own way.

Four dead. 🤷♀️ Dreadful.
There’s an Airforce One plane scheduled to land at Prestwick the day before Biden’s Inauguration on 20th. So I am speculating the Ego Baby won’t be around (but playing golf) on the day he is supposed to hand over the Presidency.

He could be slowed down a bit. No admission unless a covid free certification is carried by all occupants of the aircraft. How's he getting home? AF1 won't be his toy the next day.

And the death of those four can be traced back to one person. I see the FBI is asking for help to gather evidence:
...appeal seeking help in identifying individuals who are actively instigating violence in Washington DC
I can think of one!

DT has just posted:
...this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history,

The Covid test was my first thought CY. It’s not known exactly who will be on the plane, only that one has scheduled to land. It’s thought he might announce that he will run again in mid air, but that’s just speculation. His days are numbered, he’s a sad old man, growing bitterly older. It’s his son, DT jnr that the World needs to worry about. None of them are nice individuals, nothing to recommend them.

No they were fighting the natives and now the "natives" are fighting each other. But I think those on side of the law will overcome this present situation and maybe the shock will induce some better governance. IMHO.
Woke up to heavy frost and thick fog.
Can't make up my mind whether to blame Covid for forcing painting and decorating upon this household!

It’s certainly forced it upon this household brue😁 We have done more DIY this last year, than the previous 15 put together. I blame going on holiday, you just can’t get anything done for holidays interfering......😂

At last sunshine yippee after chilly and dull days it is very chilly in the shade but the sun makes it feel a lot warmer, it must be cold OH now wearing his woolly hat and jumper to his shed.
We have changed our May ferry and site bookings to September in the last two days and hope things improve a bit by then.
Have been busy sorting out two travel trunks one is mine bought many years ago in Malvern when I used to work in an office of very expensive clothes shop and it used to do school uniform for the local boarding schools and the other belonged to my late stepbrother which he used all over the world when in the Merchant Navy, amazing what stuff you keep so ended up with 3 black bags of rubbish as we had not looked at things in them for years, even found a radio controlled range rover which I bought OH years ago he had forgotten it was in there.
Stay safe and take care folks.

A beautiful sunny winters day for a walk in the forest. Still sub zero in the shade, which meant that it wasn’t horribly muddy as it has been on recent walks. Typing this on my new iPad which I have now set up to my satisfaction. It wasn’t as easy as OH’s new phone, as my original pad was so old it didn’t support Bluetooth cloning and it had to be done manually.☹️ The old one still works fine for a lot of things but at 8 years old many of the Apps no longer function as they are not supported. This one doesn’t half run a lot faster. Although it doesn’t make any difference to CT.😂

Freezing here again, we woke to about 7cm of snow, and thick mist.
Had to make a quick trip to DD's garage to finish checking our tiles, have reported 10 damaged ones, tiles now all home, though today's 5 boxes can stay in the car till tomorrow, too slippery on the drive to risk carrying them in.
Did our shopping on the way home, tomorrow we need to go in the other direction to collect my tablets.
SIL reckons schools up here will be closed longer than the end of the month. He was in school on Monday, working from home yesterday, in for a short time today, and will now have to be available for normal working hours at home.
Nurseries are closed up here, DD still has to work till the end of the month, but they have managed to secure an "essential worker" nursery place for Callum for this month, and have decided to pay the extra to have him there 5 full days per week so that we grandparents do not have to be called upon at all. He seems to be enjoying the extra time with his friends!

I am sat next to a whooshing, purring dishwasher🥰 Deepest joy. All we did was turn it off, then turn it on again, that good old IT favourite. However, we have had to dismantle the blinking kitchen to get it out, as the plug in the back came out, so had to pull it all the way out, check all the hoses (nothing kinked, nothing blocked), only to find that it’s plugged in behind our cooker. Which is one of those Rangemaster monsters that weighs a ton, and has had the floor built around it😱
Team work is ongoing, OH is doing the rebuild, I pass the tools, provide the tea and encouragement, and make sure the dishwasher doesn’t fall over as it’s currently in the middle of the kitchen floor.
And the scaffolders have been in touch.......tomorrow apparently. I shall check the sky for a flying pig tonight, but you never know....🤷♀️

Ooh tomorrow TDA...should we be hopeful?!

Well work has started on our kitchen, all the slot in lights are dangling down from the ceiling and all need replacing! However the main ceiling and backdoor lobby ceiling have been done, just the boiler room to go before the more awkward walls see some new paint. I decided to do the tall bookcases in our sitting room, far too many books, I must now sift through them and see which ones can go and stop reading others as it slows progress ...😊

I do hope that the scaffolders come tomorrow Tda. Also that you get both your dishwasher and cooker back in place with no injuries!
Good news that Callum is enjoying full time nursery Kjnn. You must miss looking after him though.
OH had his 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon. All was much better organised this time, no queue, lots more staff and volunteers, in and out in 30 minutes which included him having to sit for 15 minutes after his jab (he wasnt asked to do that last time!) They are running a 7 day week service. I was pleased to see that some of the staff were also being vaccinated. I was ear wigging while waiting for OH and apparently they cant just pop in, they are being contacted with an appointment on their phone but good to see that they are on the list. I think it will be a month or 2 before I hear though. After hearing the news I think supplies are slower than hoped.
Son in NI has rung most evenings. The mother of a very good Dutch friend of theirs is very ill in Holland with covid. She has been told that because of her age she will not be hospitalised or ventilated. She has just been given antibiotics and steroids and told to stay in her flat in her sheltered housing complex..How harsh is that. Their friend has booked a flight to Holland and had a covid test and should be allowed in as it is an emergency family matter. Fingers crossed. We met her mother when she was over in NI last Christmas. A really lovely lady.

Had a couple of interesting days. Yesterday got my "Nothing detected" Covid test result, 42 hrs after the test, so that meant good to go. Lovely sunny had so had a couple of decent walks, around the old sports fields and round the local lanes. Woke this morning to freezing fog, having to drive through to Westmoreland General Hospital at Kendal for my minor operation. All roads were clear and quite quiet but the ground and trees were covered in frost, most spectacular. Op seemed to go ok, but I now look as if I've been on the wrong end of a Mike Tyson haymaker. (Some might say that that's an improvement!!). As it does ache a bit I can't keep my glasses on for long so won't be posting much tonight.

Hope you feel better soon Nellie. I am glad the op seemed to go well. Fingers crossed for a good result.

Glad it’s over and done Nellie, fingers crossed for a swift recovery. I bet that was a lovely scenic drive up there.
Terrible news about the Dutch lady Millie. Shades of Italy back in March. I recall that there was a bit of speculation about what might happen to elderly here. The early oxygenation procedures were very invasive. Pray that things don’t get that bad over here, especially now the vaccine is out there.
Very cold here, Heavy frost already, we actually have snow forecast. Will it, won’t it. 🤷♀️

Woke to a sprinkling of snow, very cold overnight again and freezing all day today. Cars and caravan have not defrosted for days. Nice blue skies again.
More decorating today, plastering and ceiling done, first coat of paint on all walls and second coat on 2 of them.
Got a phone call last night to say someone would be with us today to do our swabs, thought at first it was a wrong number, then remembered that months ago we volunteered to take part in the ONS Covid 19 survey. Bit of paperwork to start with then swabs handed over and done. All pretty straightforward, to be repeated every week for the next 5 weeks then once a month.
We were watching the goings on in USA last night and this morning. OH thinks he should be arrested for inciting a riot. I have always thought him to be a bully and on the verge of madness.
MH, Good to hear your OH has had his second vaccine. According to Boris all over 70s and vulnerable folk should receive their first one by mid Feb. We have been told that half of the care homes in Scotland have been done and a good number of care staff and NHS staff.
Still no info as to what's happening with our village GP, not sure if they are taking part or if joining up with another practice.
The village hall is perfect for it as it has 2 entrances and plenty of space for folk to sit and wait. Much bigger than surgery. We also have village pharmacy but its very small so they wouldn't be suitable. We've had a letter and booklet from NHS to inform us of what to expect but that's it.
According to Nicola today, they hope to complete the care homes in the next 4 weeks then move on to the general public. I can't see us getting it before Easter.
Strange that all areas seem to be seeing lots of cars on the roads still. It certainly doesn't feel like a lockdown, just like tier 3.

Waiting to see the new "Improved" Nellie.
Might have to search hard for it though.Just read the latest local news on t'internet and there is some wally who has skidded on ice on the road near the top of Moel Fammau. There is quite a bit of new snowfall up there. This idiot broke through "Road Closed" signs and is from Ellesmere Port in Cheshire. He shouldn't even be in Wales. 2 Police cars sent to help have also become stuck in the snow and now local mountain volunteers in rescue vehicles having to be sent, all because of 1 single Prat!
Personally I'd have left him there overnight once I'd found out he didn't need medical help. Had an enjoyable early afternoon stroll before the weather set in. More freezing fog at the moment.
Mrs WN suffering a bit with the onset of a frozen shoulder. No manoeuvrability past shoulder height at all. Poor lass and she has a birthday tomorrow as well. She says she can still raise a glass to her lips though.🍷
MiL still waiting for her call for the jab. Wrote to our Senedd member asking why North Wales has only had 11% of vaccines when we represent 22% of population. They said they'll get back to me eventually!
We were lucky with British Gas man calling yesterday as it appears they may be going on strike.
Stay out of harms way everyone.

Thanks for all the kind words, even WN's!

Have to wait a week before getting stitches out, and 6 weeks till I see the consultant about the histology results.
Had a phone call this evening from our doctor's offering me a Vaccination slot next Sunday morning, which I jumped at of course.

And they do not specify which vaccine, either, K !!
It could be Flu', Typhoid, Pneumonia whatever -- certainly I could not tell which from what so It might just be a ploy to keep us 'grumpies ' ( me and others like me ) off their case until the message arrives :~~ be here in xx minutes 'cos I'm holding YOUR vaccine right now !
Well an Old Goat can dream can't I

EDIT :~~ Ooooh please don't go jumping around, don't want you dropping stitches now do we, Nellie
