Feeling elated....woke to find we are in lock down again, great, can stay in my PJ's for most of day, except for 1 hours exercise, will not feel guilty about watching the square thing, reading the newspaper, magazines or books, reminds me, kept a stash of club magazines for reading on a rainy day
oh! the joys
, might just put the heater on in the caravan and sit in there for a while and just dream of days gone by
, maybe do that jigsaw i have had for years, have a great day everybody

Milliehull I'm sure I've seen it on Virgin listings. I don't often get control of the zapper 😯🤔 but I'm sure I've seen it listed as we scroll down the listings. Don't know if you have Virgin.
I liked MASH I still think of radar whenever I hear the drone of a helicopter!
For a change, its grey cold but 3.5c 😀 and drizzling here again. More street walking......

Here you go MASH fans.

No idea if episodes are in order, or how good pictures are, but I find a lot of old TV stuff free on Daily Motion. Just be aware some of the stuff that comes up on here isn’t censored, although I haven’t had anything too😱come up. You might need to pick a few episodes, see how it goes.
All4 is free. It carries a lot of stuff from Channel4, Film Four, so some great stuff on here, all for nothing. I think things like ER, Cheers, Seinfeld are on here, but there’s lots of stuff well worth a second (or third) time round😁You just get the App, register, then view what you want. It’s like iplayer.
I am on standby to get in touch with a builder friend Millie re the scaffolding. Yesterday’s excuse was a flat tyre on wagon.😡😡😡

Nostalgia Mikey, and the old cars. First episode is a bit strange, but I do recall it got better. Not a soap fan, but Brooky has some good actors, Sue Johnson, Ricky Tomlinson, Anna Friel in it. I think the little cult de sac was actually built for the show?

Your talk of jigsaw made me smile Rufs. My cousin emailed me while they were in tier 4, she said she was 'pulling her hair out and biting her tongue'. Her husband had borrowed an extremely large jigsaw, which was all over the dining room table, at meal times she was having to put place mats etc on top of it. She said if that wasn't enough, all thorough their meal he kept finding bits of the jigsaw and placing them. Made me laugh.

😂 My OH got so fed up of me and Jigsaws, he bought me one of those folding mats back in first lockdown. I had left one done on table, intended to frame it. We finally moved it on Xmas Eve🤣
That’s not a bad idea though, doing it at meal times, the odd piece👍

I can't remember if all the houses were built for Brookside or if they simply bought them from the developer
Another time, were we house hunting on a winters day on a new estate (only about 1 mile from where we actually live today). We were upstairs in the Barratt show house when suddenly a massive crowd entered the house. We struggled to get downstairs and only then did we see the reason for the sudden influx, Peter Allen, the face of Barratt homes, was in the lounge giving a little speech. The helicopter was parked a short distance away.

Can't help but remember the first lockdown, the weather was good and we spent a lot of time outside listening to the birds singing and the silence of the traffic free roads. Bit of a contrast this time, so cold outside, lugging in wood for the fire and feeling a bit more wary of the outcome.
Oh well up early for the food delivery tomorrow, I now realise I've ordered my elderly neighbours two totally unsuitable steak pies...I didn't notice the filo toppings, they are not into anything exotic!

I wish the TV people had come up with a Lockdown cooking programme, how to cook with what you've forgotten to buy...

OH has been prowling round the kitchen today deciding where to start painting after rummaging for all the kit in an outside shed.....right at the back of course! We have a bit of a problem with a big gap in our kitchen, previously for dog beds. We dont want to replace everything but could do with more cupboards so we've been searching on line just in case we can find something that matches. (Actually I'd replace the lot but can't face it just now!)

Heads up for every one
Just received notification from our neighborhood policing team a very credable new scam viaa text message ,advising that the covid vacine is now availabe for you and just need to confirm name ,address DOB and at the end is asking for ccard details

It’s free JV. So only the gullible would give their card details....I think😉 But it’s good to know Police are trying their best to make folks aware.
Mum day for me. Help Sis does some house and caring chores. Then we all did the “coal run” for a change of scenery. Only me out of car, back of Jeep loaded. Back to our house for coffee and a natter, then dropped them off into their home again.

Turned into a decent day weather wise but was bitterly cold for our walk this morning.
Had a Click and Collect to pick up just after lunch then went online and managed to grab another in 3 weeks time.
Made a temporary repair to bird bath but typical it going when garden centres closed.
All quiet on the western front here.

Thanks for the heads up JVB. Our local police have also alerted us. Good to know they are on the case. I have an awful feeling that some poor folk will get caught out sadly.
Are your garden centres not open in Wales WN? Ours are open this time but I heard they are not really finding it cost effective as there are so few customers.
I did my 2 hours at the cathedral this morning as they are still allowed to open for private prayer and for people to light a candle if they wish. We had very few come in but it was very important for those that did come. Much discussion as to whether it will continue as it costs so much what with heating and lighting. There also always has to be a paid member of staff as well as a volunteer welcomer for security purposes. The clergy of course feel it is very important we stay open but finance have a different opinion. The discussion continues 😒.
Thanks for the suggestions to try to catch up with Mash. I will investigate but OH doesnt want to pay extra - finance again 😳

I haven't seen anything in the rules that says that Garden Centres are essential, Millie, so am assuming that they are closed. I can't see a bird bath being classified as essential in any case.. I'll find small pots etc. for the little ones and we do have a smaller bird bath in the front of the house which I'll move to the back.

I think Cambs ,Beds, and Herts police seem to be as one with some aspects of policing,

ps I understand garden centres can open if deemed safe as they are considered essential for the health and well being of the population,
Also there was quite a lot of anger during other lockdowns when Supermarkets and places like B&Q were able to sell similar products

Good News/Bad News
OH had an appointment at hospital for a couple of biopsies in her mouth, having taken them the dental surgeon said it was nothing to worry about, just the result of one of her falls( part of her condition) and nothing more sinister.
Bad news her respite has extended its temporary closure due to covid, it was kind of expected but reopening is getting near her next planned respite!
By the way MH we got MASH on DVD!

Thanks, tda, I'll have a look at All4. I too was wondering if one could find MASH anywhere.
Sorry to hear about the possibility of you OH not getting to respite, but pleased that there was nothing to worry about following the biopsies.
OH had her Covid vaccination this morning. It took about 30mins in total, what with waiting before and after it, so not too long really, as we have heard of it taking 2hrs altogether, although not locally.
As it was still early we went for a 3ml walk along by the shore.....there were more dogs than people out and about. It was fine and dry but the light breeze was rather chilly. The sun came out later and we had another local and less chilly walk after lunch.0 -
Greyish day here, still freezing outside frost hasn't lifted for best part of a week now. At least the gritters were back out today.
Decorating coming on well, that's all the prep work done, we can start the actual painting tomorrow once we've done the shopping.
Wonder if the shops will be quieter, during the first lockdown everyone was good about keeping a distance, though the last few months its not be observed.
Still doing our neighbours shopping for her, not sure how she would manage otherwise at 95 and no relatives living within 60 miles of her.

Do not mention the filo pastry brue, they may not notice! If they do, just say it is a new recipe!
We had the "needing more storage in the kitchen" problem a couple of years back, though no gap. We had spread out storage into the kitchen in the "granny flat", but it was not ideal.
We needed a new oven and OH wanted a double one this time, so we did away with the cupboard under the single oven and fitted the smaller space with 3 drawers with stainless steel fronts to match the oven.
This then led to OH thinking we could continue the contrast by using stainless steel and glass fronted units, rather than trying to match what we had.
Our kitchen is almost 33 years old, solid oak doors, solid beech worktops, good sink and appliances, far too good to throw out, plus we like it! And the thought of the mess and hassle, and expense, was not good.
We did briefly consider ripping it all out, but having spent ages planning it all those years ago, we could not work out a better layout for the main kitchen area, so why bother?
Originally we had a study area in the dining area, but when DS moved out we converted his room to a study, and fitted an additional 2m run of solid pine cupboards with a beech top (could not afford an oak dresser, plus dressers offer much less storage). All the woods rub along together happily anyway......our house woodwork is mahogany.
We also had our Ercol sofa in there to make a "family area", and originally hardly used our big sitting room. But now it is just the 2 of us, we decided to use the sitting room more, remove the Ercol and the radiator behind, revamp some of the storage, and fit some additional cupboards.
We used more of the stainless steel Ikea drawer units like below the oven, 2 x 800 wide with 3 drawers, cut down to fit (their drawers are not as deep as the units) so there was a link with the rest of the kitchen, a beech worktop we had picked up for £10 in their sale, and wall units with aluminium framed glass doors.
The deep drawers are great for larger kitchen appliances, in the medium drawers we keep our tablets and various instruction booklets, and the shallow drawers have freed up some space in the lounge drawers where we were keeping some silver cutlery that belonged to my parents, plus lots of serving spoons etc etc.
The extra wall units have allowed us to spread out serving dishes etc from other cupboards that were really crammed, and store stuff of MIL's that we wanted to keep.
Trying to match door/drawer fronts is very difficult if the units are old, often a complete contrast is a much better and easier solution.
We had a tall pine unit in the original "study" area, so we moved the contents elsewhere and I fitted it with internal drawers, fantastic storage in it now, we have it full of tins, Tassimo packs, flour, biscuits, etc etc. So much easier to see things in drawers than on shelves.
You can buy drawer kits in various depths that let you make bespoke drawers to the width you need. We bought pine for the fronts, but the backs and bases are made from "free stuff" obtained at Ikea.
We now have several empty cupboards through in the "granny kitchen" and will eventually get that sorted out, just need the children to come and take what they want before we dispose of the rest.
I fitted some similar drawers for DD in an unused corner of her kitchen, she has all her cutlery and plates in them, great storage space, and above I fitted her spice racks and some shelves for her cookery books, plus matching shelves on the wall opposite for decorative items.

I think your last para is key as the official line now says;
When you can leave home
You must not leave or be outside of your home except where you have a ‘reasonable excuse’. This will be put in law. The police can take action against you if you leave home without a ‘reasonable excuse’, and issue you with a fine (Fixed Penalty Notice).A reasonable excuse includes;
Essential activities - you can leave home to buy things at shops or obtain services. You may also leave your home to do these things on behalf of a disabled or vulnerable person or someone self-isolating.
So may avoid the ridiculous situation last Spring where people argued over what was essential but I won’t hold my breath.
Our nearest garden centres are open according to their websites.
