Cheers, tda. Not many people about and I don't think we've ever been on a  club site that's so quiet. Just need better weather from now on. Had a phone call late this afternoon to arrange when I go for my minor op...first week in Jan, so will be heading home a little earlier than planned. What great service!!

Been quite a pleasant day here in MK and surprisingly mild although the wind was quite brisk. Went for a walk in the morning as Margaret wanted to "harvest" some greenery for our very limited Christmas displays this year. This afternoon I actually motivated myself to wash the car. After which I made another attempt at trying to tidy the garage of things I am unlikely to need. I found old tiles and a tile cutter probably beyond its useful life! Still not sorted the electric bike battery out yet and decided to leave that until after Christmas/New Year. Will have a few things to sell, like a cement mixer but never seem to quite know where is the best place to sell. On balance if things are not that valuable I tend to throw them out to avoid the hassle!!!

Club Sites are great when there’s few around😁 We had a nice Winter break at Bolton Abbey a pre Xmas a few years ago. I think we were one of around six outfits in total. We enjoyed it so much, we went back the following week. We were one of four then😁 Good to hear your op is sorted as well, best out of way asap. Hope things go well.

All cards written, lists checked, all OK. took those to be delivered locally by hand.  Went out happily, delivered up the avenue cheerfully, then turned to do the rest walking into the wind.  Five cards delivered this direction only seven  more to go and Brian was, already, utterly perished !!.

Only family cards left to deliver especially those with " inserts "  so they will be done tomorrow, Tuesday,  afternoon, Most of 'em at aged sisters when I drop off her magazines out of my w/end papers. Her cat seems to approve of this procedure since it stops her jabbing him, accidentally of course, with her knitting needles wink.

Keep active everybody ~~  very good way to avoid sitting watching the rubbish on the tellybox and snacking  surprisedwink

I am taking our local cards out tomorrow ABM, with my Mum along for the ride. She enjoys riding around in Jeep, it’s high up so she can enjoy the scenery in comfort and warmth with the heated seat on. 😁 We won’t be going beyond the letter box anywhere though. I hope your sister is doing ok now👍

Busy week that one, Nellie 'cos my ducato is in for it's MOT on the fourth -- hardly worth having a service since it's only done about 3K in 12 months, and most of that was done driving in circles to try to keep the starter battery up to scratch !frown

Ah Well, as the scientists used to say, it's cold n dark so

    Good Night  kiss

I usually do some foraging for fresh greenery DK, normally I enjoy making my own decorations, but decided to give it a miss this year, we still have quite a bit of DIY going on, and it’s would just be added clutter. Selling on EBay isn’t as good as it used to be, we have tried one or two things lately, but they didn’t make their reserve price, and I’m not giving them away to strangers.

Ttda, Thank you for asking smile the Old Girl is progressing nicely, shopping only just across the road in the local Co-oP.  Has been in hospital out-patients for her eye problems and all seems to amaze them -- right eye perfectish, well she is 90 , left eye improving amazingly !! Back in three months for what, we and they hope, should be her final visit & sign off !  Tomorrow to Doctors Surgery for blood samples, then just basic checks over the next three weeks for "sprout -- poisoning "  wink

Gumtree can be useful, or Preloved.  Or if your area has a Facebook page they often allow ads.

If you just want rid of stuff, how about putting it on your local Freecycle?

We have sourced quite a bit of stuff for DD that way, she got 2 free leather sofas, and a chair, and several Ikea cabinets and bookcases , all good stuff in good condition.

She has given away several radiators, 2 divan beds, and some light fittings.

Some charity shops take furniture and electricals, so she gives to them first.

Good ways to pass on stuff KJ. Where my sister lives in central Bristol, you just put whatever you don't want out on the street and it's gone in seconds! (and you never leave out anything you do want!wink)

I was up early to bag a Waitrose delivery after Christmas, managed to get one, will have to get up early to receive it!

Good to hear you are happy with your site Nellie.

I will be joining the Christmas card walkers today ABM.🎄

Our don’t need anymore’s are a couple of nice ceiling lights, don’t mind at all if they are given away. But the other item is a beautiful English made Riding Saddle, we used it for showing, so it’s in superb condition, and at the time was an eye watering buy. I’d prefer not to give this away, it could just become an ornament. I will try a couple of saddleries, see if they have any buyers at the moment. Our previous Saddle went to Ireland.........

Nice dry sunny day here. Been out giving the back decking a scrub as it was getting very slimy with all the wet weather we've had.  French windows have also had a good wash down, the rain was from the north so back windows got it.

Contacted a roofer this morning he is promising to come out this afternoon to take a look smile hope so heavy rain forecast for tomorrow.

OH been making tops for the trellis's and posts, we have a lot of them so its a constant maintenance of them.

Dentist for him this afternoon smile don't think he will get his filling done that needs replaced but at least the dentist will be able to check him over.

I see some of our European neighbours are having Christmas lockdowns, would feel a whole lot better if this country hadn't given folk a 5 day holiday over Christmas. frown

Hope the roof isn't too serous a thing Tammy. We've been watching the progress or lack of it on the bungalow opposite. The previous owner had a "new" flat roof put on to the garage before he sold it 3 years ago and it has since had 2 new roofs, put on by different Roofers. The second one has been back twice now in the last month to fix his obviously poor workmanship. We know it's still bad as the local Pigeons use it as a bird bath so it's not draining away properly. Thought that tale might cheer you up.smile

Lovely day here so we had the morning off and went for a longish walk. the fields and lanes are flooded so we had to stick to roads and pavements.

Had an interesting phone call yesterday with Scottish Power about procedure following their taking over our previous supplier who has stopped trading. If anyone ever needs to know what happens and what's best for you then I'll explain, otherwise it's a long winded faff.

I'm hopping round with frustration, one of my oft mentioned elderly neighbours was offered the Covid vacccination on Saturday. She tried to sort the travel arrangements to the next town on her own and has turned down the offer due to not asking people who could help in the village and trying to get a small community bus which doesn't operate at the weekends....arghhh yell

    Well a sunny start 😎.

Dentist proper clean and polish. Everything almost normal for their service. Last time was the prong scrape 😲 but always been able to rinse out, cup for each. He did give me some of the paste he uses for polishing with instructions to use sparingly - only used it once too frightened! Next 2 appointments made March and June 😀. Just sitting outside there now OH in again as his crown  has come out again, 5 days since the last re-inserted. Dentist will cover for now and put new foundations in in another appointment to be made. Naturally the usual arrive at time of appointment, wearing mask, q&a session and temperature check - just as it has been since they were allowed to open again. No additional charges 👍

Dry sunny dig walk, later than usual, with OH, so a nice hot chocolate halfway round. Towels drying nicely but a small shower literally minutes after we were home.

Someone is really taking care of me today 🤣

Into tier  3 tomorrow But text from hairdresser saying i can still go Thursday just hope reflexology will be the same 😊. Feel safe in both places. Then that's me sorted. Fingers crossed for meeting with son and DIL not sure who of us, then  or us is biggest Billy no mates. Still we'll be as safe as possible.

Will deliver local cards on evening dog walk and hope to wrap last few presents, son and DIL and OH tonight or tomorrow and thats the job completed. Mince pies made and frozen, several have leaked 😤😪 but best picked to take with us and can't have folk in no one will know. I have got some pastry left and mincemeat so will top up supplies just in case 😉. Dundee cake looking good and I'm gathering other treats to take. PLEASE just let us see them 🙏

    Happy travels Nelliethehooker

No other plans on travel want to be able to meet new grandchild early April.

Been another pretty miserable day here was absolutely pouring this afternoon so not left the house. Break between Christmas and new year cancelled as we are to remain in tier 3 as is Edinburgh where we were booked for. Will be in to the new year before we can get away again now still something to look forward to. Due to our break being cancelled SWMBO is making noises about decorating so that should keep us busy over the Christmas and new year period.

Was sunny and mild here till almost 4, now very wet.  This afternoon I delivered church Christmas cards while OH finished writing the last of ours, so all we have left to do now is wrap a few more presents.

Had to go and deal with 2 flat tyres at DD's house this morning, one of hers had a large screw sticking in it, discovered last night so she borrowed her husband's car, this morning one of his was flat with a jagged slash in the sidewall, so he had to run round and borrow his Dad's car to get to school, while his Mother had to come and take Callum to nursery.

Put on their spares, only those temporary type ones, so she took husband's one to nearby tyre place to be replaced, and for her own car she will order 2 new ones on line as the tread on her other front one was getting well down.  They are both on holiday from Friday, so no  big hurry to get things fixed.

Bit of a theme going on at their address as last week their upstairs neighbour also had a flat, only he did not realise and drove off to get shopping, only discovering the problem on his way home, by which time he had ruined the wheel on his Merc.   That will have been expensive!!

Thanks for that WN, cheered me up no end tongue-out

Roofer came took a good look, its the lead flashing that needs replacing. Gave us a price which we are happy with, spoke to next door neighbour as its a joint chimney stack. They are going halves with us on the work but asked if it would be possible to  have the whole chimney removed. Neither of us uses the fire places in the bedrooms, so put it to the roofer and got a price for that which again we are happy with, not that much more so next Tuesday its coming off, could everyone please pray for a dry day laughing

OH Mum's care home can't start getting the vaccine as the home has to be clear of covid  infections for 28 days first.frown  Doesn't appear that anyone  other than care homes and NHS staff will be getting the vaccine until well into the New Year in Scotlandfrown Think we need to get the AZ vaccine out as soon as we can.

TG, I've realised today after speaking to my neighbour that the logistics involved in getting frail people to vaccine centres hasn't been thought through very well. So none of it is straight forward and it will be easier when the Oxford vaccine gets rolled out.

I'm going to watch this tonight LINK hopefully some lovely music (centenary of The Lark Ascending 7.30pm.)

We have had a totally different COVID Vacc experience here today. At 2.30pm I got a text saying Mum can now have the Jab. Phoned the given number, answered a few questions, chose a slot (our local Leisure Centre) and by 2.35pm I had both appointments booked for Mum, so 🤞 she should be less at risk by late January. Progress has been made.

You are right brue, I saw your earlier post about your neighbour, will she get another offer?

Getting those who don't drive or have someone to help them is going to be a problem. We have 2 neighbours both 95 years young, neither could walk down to the Dr's these days.

We could take them but as we are in tier 3 not sure if its allowed. Not a problem just now as I said they are not doing folk in the community here yet.

The islands are not being given the Pfizer vaccine as its to complicated to transport there just now. Good job they have very few cases up there.

TG. Yes, she will be asked again in January (unless she's mixed this up with the follow up jab.) I've been in touch with the family yet again and also have now got the phone number for a community driver scheme. It would be better if families (if possible) received the calls as I think it's quite sudden and confusing. We can't take her as our car has an awkward  sill which we discovered a while back is too difficult to get across due to her mobility issues. OH feels it's unsafe too, she needs too much physical help.

It will be much better when it's offered in local surgeries or village halls and not several miles away.

    Happy travels Nelliethehooker

Thanks, B2, but the way things are going it could well work out to be a rather shorter than planned trip. Hopefully will find out more tomorrow. You seemed to have the lesser gods looking down on you, what with managing to fit in a visit for both of you to the dentist today hhand on Thursday the hairdressers.

Tda great news about your mum's vaccination. System seems to be working well in some places. On the local news it showed a new medical centre at home being used by various of the town's surgeries to deliver the vaccination their individual patients..

Much better day with plenty of sunshine and little or no wind. We managed 3 decent walks, at Winster, above Windermere and out to Cockshott Point and the Ferry at Bowness. We were surprised by the number of cars parked near the lake, but not that many people about, although we didn't venture into the town. Had a heavy shower an hour ago and the forecast isn't promising for tomorrow.frown

There was a very interesting report about that centenary on our local news tonight. First performed in Shirehampton Civic Hall on 15 December 1920. Haven't listened yet but I see it's available for the next month so probably a nice treat on Christmas Day! smile
