Oh heddlo why couldnt that have been prominently shown on the buying page?

Loft visit pleasant surprise, I think! I dont do lots only my 4th visit in 35 years! Less up there than I feared, bits brought down and other labels checked. That was an earlier visit. Clothes now in the wash, our loft us filthy, no lining under the tiles, several years back we lined on the inside, but its come adrift in places, so plenty of dust and dirt- will need another trip but warmer day job.

Plus side found early baby toys and bathroom step! I've not been through the Christmas decs but I must have cleared out in a previous years, as theres less than I remember, another cull hopefully very soon.

Clothes in the wash, yes that dirty and lunch to eat before I explore further.

Today was our recycle collection day. As next door hadn't put out a green recycle bag, I managed to sneak a second one on their drive. That was the good bit. smile I spent the morning giving some of the foliage a short back and sides so I now have two full bags again.frown

Haven't been on CT for awhile, not had a lot to say (for a change)laughing

We've had some very cold frosty foggy days and some really nice sunny days. We've been out for drives and walks on the good days and on the not so nice days I've been sat at the dinning room table making Christmas cards. Haven't made cards for quite a few years now as we've been away so much really enjoyed myself. Now starting on the birthday cards for the coming year.

Trip to the garage tomorrow to get the satnav updated, then onto the hospital for OHs appointment with audiology. He lost one of his hearing aids, they replaced it but he can't wear it as it whistles as soon as he puts it in his ear, so a visit to get it adjusted. At least now they will see you face to face.

We've heard from friends that were due to fly to Lanzarote last Thursday, that Jet2 cancelled their flights less than 48 hours before departure. Friends not happy,  they had just had Covid 19 tests which are required for entry to the Canary islands they have to be done privately as you need to get a certificate as proof cost £120+ each.

Hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the end of lockdown tomorrow. I guess some are going to be happy with the level they are in while others will not be. I think what the governments have agreed over the Christmas period is crazy, lockdown 3 is just around the corner. We seem to have learnt nothing from the last 9 months yell

We have spent the last few days doing some stuff for DD, and looking after Callum to allow her to get on with painting the ceiling and walls in the new bathroom.  Almost finished now, apart from some touching up where the brush slipped!

Next it will be down to me to fit the flooring and the rest of the cabinets.

The painting in the bedroom is now finished, next thing in there is the fitting of the picture rail, plus she is getting  in an expert to fit an appropriate cornice.

Then it will be the flooring, and finally all the oak woodwork.  The timber merchant has finally sourced a supply of what we need, it  should be here in a couple of weeks, so plenty to keep me busy.

M, I'm dreading New Year, its a big thing up here and despite the FM saying she is not relaxing things for New Year I have no doubt that she will have no control at all over what happens.

At the moment we are in Scottish tier 3 which means no pubs open yay, they are allowed to sell take out alcohol drinks so I would imagine folk will just hang about outside drinking.

The cold weather will not put them off, just like it didn't put us off when we were young. We used to spend around 3 days and nights first footing, going from house to housesurprised  we used to walk miles and miles, never got drunk just had a good time.

Every house had food on the go and you never stayed for long (unless you fell asleep) boy those were the days. Now its big parties and everyone getting drunk, noisy and causing trouble.

It's a difficult one Tammygirl, we get through the winter with some festivities to help us on on our way and it's not going to be much good for anyone this year. frown

I had a strange day yesterday. I thought I'd cheer myself up and contact a few people, I had one dead phone line, two people who were quite ill  and another who'd had a bad fall. So that put me in a good mood for the dentist today! Ha Ha....two hours of waiting around for a double appointment, a cracked pin in a crown, x rays, a new hygienist who probably likes rock climbing and chipping at stone....nothing allowed to swill your mouth, I must have looked like dracula when I came out. And now I've got to go  back to get the crown fixed in two weeks unless it falls apart first.....grrrr. It was busy too, people working in reception, bodies everywhere. Is this the new way of things?! undecided

Mustn't grumble, I've only waited over a year. laughing

Gosh brue complete opposite to my dentist, when I was finally allowed to go. To start with you had to phone them from outside so they could check you had an appointment, then they let you in, only 1 seat in reception, only 1 receptionist on. Dental nurse came down to get me an escort me to the surgery I was in, she opened all the doors (please don't touch) same procedure on way out but had to go out the fire exit as one way system in operation. Never seen the building look so empty yet all surgeries were in operation.

Not a bad day today, lovely sunrise. Up early to take tow car to garage to get in built satnav updated at a cost of £45 surprised OH not happy about it but its the only way it can be done.

I managed to pop into Tesco while OH was in the garage, then it was up to the hospital to get his hearing aids tweaked, now both fully operational without the whistle smile into town to pick up a couple of items all done and back home by 10.15. Had to pop back in again to collect the tow car later in the day. Good walk this afternoon before the sun went down. Looks like Thursday/Friday we might get some wintery showers.

I would rather forgo this festive season and know that we will be around for all that follows.  It does seem a bit one sided, considering most of the other religion/festivals have not been allowed.

MrsWN went for her crown fitment yesterday Brue. The first time, 10 days ago, for the removal of the temporary filling and mould taking they did have the full spray machine going and suction pump so both the dentist and assistant were dressed like bomb disposal people!

Yesterday there was no need for drilling etc so just normal PPE. The building is an old Victorian one with a large waiting room so they allow a maximum of 4 in at any one time and you have to ring to be let in and fill in pre appointment forms about Covid etc. Best of luck for the fitting.

Agree with you Tammy. I mentioned a little while ago on a different thread about Diwali and Eid. Felt sorry for those folks that couldn't celebrate their festival. Glad it was the hearing aids and not hubby that needed adjusting.😁

A drive out to pick up some stuff from Ruthin this morning. A glorious drive it was as well. Gardening, just tidying, this afternoon as it is the last Garden Refuse collection this week until March.

The outside procedures for the dentist were good, phone in, wait in car, get checked at entrance, temp check etc. But when I got inside, it all fell apart, even more crowded than pre-Covid (they are hoping to have new premises in the future.) OH had warned me things weren't too good, at least I got the nice dentist, he got the one who tried to sell him things...no chance with Mr Brue!! wink

We ventured into the big city (Sheffield) for the pooch’s quarterly eye inspection today. Made a bit of a day of it as it was so lovely, sunny blue skies. We took a picnic up to a place called Wharncliffe Chase, and did a bit of a woodland walk, until the paths became too muddy and sticky for the dog’s chariot. He was in and out of it having a whale of a time, a few other walkers with dogs out to say hello to as well. Arrival was very noisy, as sadly SY Police helicopter was out searching for a lost lady who has dementia. She had left her home around 6am and was still unfound at noon, despite lots of folks out looking for her. Very sad, no idea if she had been found when we came to leave.☹️ We found a nice bench and had our sarnies looking at the views, then back to car and drove over Strines area into Derwent Valley, and into City centre from there. Didn’t look like much of a lockdown in Sheffield, traffic was manic as usual. Got away from vets relatively light on the kerrching front, no blood tests this time, so Christmas is still on😂 Pooch been running around house in celebratory mood with a squeaky football, so he’s pleased as well🤣

No mention on BBC local news Text Service @ 21:30 , TTDA  -- it's always sad when somebody who needs Care manages to get lost like that.

    Did find a News Item of interest to many in passing tho'  ~~  Stamps  will go up on January 1st  { 1p for second class & 9p for first  surprised  }

And a Happy New Year to all our Users, I don't think  yell

    Visited Aged One to drop off her weekly supply of last weekends magazines & some animamal Treats, so her  Alfie-cat does not get left out when her eldest brings his hooligan whippet to visit. Shopped after putting 25 miles on the clock, certainly Crewe's Morrisons car park was busy, but not too many in the store.  Could it be that they were taking notice of the request to shop singly undecided and I got everything except a bottle of Liquid Dettol, so had to settle for spray stuff, which I do not like using, 'cos it goes everywhere unless I shield it with my paws  { more  grrrrrs !! yell  }

Sadly, I can’t find anything more about the missing lady either ABM.

However, in searching, I did come across something very useful that I didn’t know about.......the Herbert Protocol. It’s a relatively recent tool that those with family or friends with dementia can use, just in case they go missing. All you do is fill in the form and supply it to your local police and it can aid in such as search, if it should ever be required. To register someone, you just type in Herbert Protocol (then your local police force). It’s designed to quickly supply basic information to the police about a vulnerable person to aid in finding them. Named after a war Veteran who went missing, but sadly died before he was found. The aim is to try and speed up any search, and remove some of the stress of trying to answer questions at a worrying time.

I made a comment on an advert that appeared on my fb page, and got this response.

yes, we read pretty much every comment!

Our priority this year was to get the redevelopment of the Advent Calendars for native platforms completed. The old browser versions were deeply unsatisfactory for a number of reasons and we're absolutely convinced that when people start using the new native apps and the Windows download, they will agree that the improvement is enormous.

We hoped to get a new purchasing system in place in time so that we could avoid the difficulties which you describe with the gift purchasing process, but sadly that was not possible in the time - we too have been impacted by the pandemic.

In fact, the only real difficulty with the purchase process is if you want to send the iOS or Android versions as gifts, especially internationally. If you're buying for yourself it's as easy or even easier than before, because iOS/Android users are already familiar with the app stores. We do recognise that there's a problem with the gift purchase process, and that will hopefully be rectified next year when we complete our new system.

    Hopefully easier next year 😉

Apologies to those not interested, but theres no PM message facility 🤔🙁

Frosty bright start here. Enjoy your day folks - dont all arrive at the shops together............

Been a successful day making appointments today! Firstly I was successful navigating what is the labyrinth of the British Gas Homecare system! Tried doing it online but it kept telling me that they would contact me. Given that the boiler was installed in April 2019 I thought I should have had a service by now? Not a phone number (except emergencies) on their website, no email, no address, surely taking their privacy a bit far! Decided to look at the original paperwork and low and behold a telephone number which I rang. I spoke to an automated human voice, automated in the sense that I was responding to recorded messages. As luck would have it, service booked for the end of January.

On a roll now so thought I would give the surgery a call regarding my annual Doppler test. A real cheery human being on the end of the phone. Yes they are still doing Doppler test but apologies can't do it for a couple of weeks. As it happens I haven't been invited to join Sir Philip on his yacht in Monaco so I was free so all booked for 18th December. All this before lunch!!!

Personally, if I was British Government, I would impound that scoundrel’s yacht as part payment for all those thousands of pensions!

Good news on the boiler front though.👍Our scaffolders are coming tomorrow to finally remove our bridge. Last Friday he was in hospital with a broken nose....conk connected with a scaffolding pole, it ended badly, but hopefully, finally it will be the last we see of it tomorrow.

    Staircase renovation for me today.........

Took the caravan in today for some minor bits of work. I'm not completely with it today. Our service people are at one end of Wrexham and our previous caravan dealer prior to this one are at Chirk end so of course I headed to the wrong one. Fortunately there was a handy roundabout and Mrs WN had me back on track. Probably be ready tomorrow as they are chock-a-block with work.

This put us askew with our normal Wednesday shop at Tesco, which was annoying as it had far too many people doing the same thing. Not a lot needed so we hightailed it asap but I've probably forgotten half of the stuff.

Then had fun reconfiguring our new Sky remote. It would appear that our TV is not recognised as being a current model, no surprise there, so we turned the house inside out trying to find out the code needed as we are sure we had this problem the last time we changed it. Finally located it. It was written inside the other remote!👿

Beef stew in the oven smelling lovely but that's for tomorrow.

Impressed with DK getting through to BG. You should buy a lottery ticket David.

    Now raining again.

I have spent quite a bit of time during the lockdown just ended doing a jigsaw puzzle specially created for me by my youngest son. ( apparently if you have a favourite photograph Photobox have a tie up with Ravensburger to make one off jigsaws, no idea on costings) He thought it would be nice to have a photograph of his two dogs sitting on the floor in his utility room. Lovely picture but whether he realised how much same colours floor there was around them I am not sure. However as he said it keeps the old brain matter active. There was a point when I wondered if I would complete it as some days I only added 3 pieces! Anyway last couple of days have been a bit of a breakthrough time and it is now complete. Right click and open picture in new tab if you want to see a larger version.

Ah, nice dogs but not so good puzzle background! I gave my sister a puzzle I did in the first lockdown, a map of the USA, I quite liked doing it as I hadn't got a clue where many states were..she couldn't stand doing it! So now she'll never know where Delaware and South Dakota are! 😁

I've had some luck today, had my hair cut, I got a cancellation after I phoned in to cancel a booking for next week. I thought I'd  have to go without til after Christmas. Now we can take it in turns to visit an art exhibition I'd double booked for next week. I've got used to an empty diary and forgot to check.

South Dakota is easy. It's the one below North Dakota.laughing Must admit I'm not too bad on USA geography having spent a great holiday there many years ago touring to all 4 corners and plenty in between.

Just had a phone call from the dentist asking us to move our January appointments to March as Dentist has just had the new dates for hospital treatment for daughter which coincides with our appointments. Drat and I based my whole years calendar around those dates. Have to move everything now.smile Seriously though her daughter is very ill and we have no problem accommodating her needs.

Been a busy morning here, OH has been up a ladder clearing out the gutters and sealing a couple of the joins as they had started to leak.

I was in the front garden doing a bit of cutting back and tidying up of one of the beds there, gave the path a good sweep to.

This afternoon I was finally successful in getting the correct paperwork from the travel team after changing my tunnel crossing for next year, its been a bit of a saga but all done now and everything filed away ready for when we can get away.smile

OH was putting the bin out earlier and saw our next door neighbours so had a chat with them and informed them their gutters were in need of a clear out as they are blocked.

During this chat they informed him that they had another new member of the family, a kittenyell.

Some of you may remember these are the same couple who abandoned their first cat just after she had kittens a couple of years ago then went and got a dog. Our other neighbour (and us) now feed the first cat  and look after her.  I haven't spoken to them yet but when I do, they will be left in no doubt that I am not impressed with their attitude to pet ownership.yell Rant over.

Good news about the Pfizer vaccine smile

TDA have you had any update of the missing lady at all, its really distressing when this type of thing happens, I hope she is found safe and well.
