Another wet cold windy day here too it’s almost dark outside now. Cheered ourselves up a bit by booking a site in Yorkshire for a 10 day trip over the Easter period so that’s something to look forward to, also planning a possible 4-5 nights in the Lakes in Feb depending on how things are on restrictions etc. It’s nice to plan things on a day like this gives something to look forward to. Still hoping to get to Edinburgh between Christmas and New Year as we are booked there for 8 nights but we shall see

A dry day with some sunshine, mainly in the morning. Just a quick trip out this morning along the north bank and back along the south. Had my second puncture of the year frown but it was on the way back only a mile from home smile so pushed it home to mend there.

That’s what the scaffolders called it......a tower at each end of garage, with platform bridging over the garage roof😁 Left to me, I would keep it, mount a nice little something to tickle the passing knuckledraggers to scurry quicker down the Lane. But I fear it isn’t allowed......😉😂

The soup turned out well, very tasty.  Butternut, sweet potato, carrots, onion and garlic, with veg stock and some cauliflower stalks.  Found we only had one onion, so used some extra garlic.  Have saved some for DD and Callum, they both like it.

We have been making yogurt recently, bought an Easiyo kit and lots of mixes, so trying out various flavours.  So far we have done strawberry, vanilla, creme brulee and cappucino.........Callum loves them all and has requested more creme brulee.  Next we will try the banana.

Wet and windy here, again, today.

Foggy start to the day, but sunshine by mid morning, so had a walk through the park at lunchtime.

Still quiet at work, would take a couple of days off, but no where to go at the moment.

Millie and Brue, glad that you also had lovely video chats too, they always cheer me up. smile

After a visit to our local hospital's Dermatology Dept this morning I now have to wait for a further appointment at the Maxillofacial Clinic, so it looks as if we may not be getting away in the van as early as hoped, by we'll wait and see. I can always cancel our Xmas and New Year bookings closer to the dates.

Another decent day here so we all had a pleasant longer walk than normal before lunch. The wind has got up somewhat now but at least it is staying dry.

Sorry your plans have been interrupted Nellie. Hope it gets sorted as early as possible. At least it sounds as though some areas of country will be open for touring, if not all of them. Another round of wait and see until next week.

    Keep us posted Nellie.

Had to rearrange our plans today. A friends mothers funeral now arranged for Friday. We'll show our face at the church for the ceremony but leave it at that.

Brought back a few memories for us as we've been councellors for the friend whilst she's gone through looking after her mum and the dementia. We know it helped her to have a sounding board when frustration took hold. We were glad to hear the Care Home let the 2 daughters in at the end stage.

    Keep us posted Nellie.

Will do, although it appears to be nowt to worry about, just a bit inconvenient really. Still there's all or, at least hopefully, most of next year to go at. I can't complain as we've managed to be away in the van for 127 nights so far this year, a few more than most I guess.

Spent a lovely three and a half hours sitting in the driving seat of my camper and reading my Kindle while the mains charger did it's job  frown.

Had to be there to ensure Safety regs were upheld, 'cos the miles I am doing just will not keep the battery charged. Managed to talk a furloughed neighbour into watching all was ok while I put the tackle away, tried the key and BINGO away she went, so just piled all inside the house & went off for a forty mile round trip - Crewe - Holmes Chapel - Knutsford - Middlewich and home again, now I've got to take it into town tomorrow & top up with that stuff BJ hates @ 113.9 per litre. Still I should not have to worry about EV points for a while, should I ??

But did see an awful lot of farm tractors, lorries etc driving the country-side fully laden with that stuff they have spent half the year encouraging to grow, then, when it does as they want, they cut it down just above the roots. Suppose I should ask Goldie what is the point  'cos it's all beyond young Brian.wink

Lucky you Nellie we have managed 52 nights away so far which is less than normal but more than we expected in the current climate we feel lucky we have managed to get away as often. Wish we had done as many nights as you thought :)

Great piccies Bakers. With the forecast suggesting more of the same you should get some misty ones.

You've still done more than us Francis. Normally we'd get in somewhere between 120 - 140 but only 49 go date. Glad your service went ok. We've got ours in next week for looking at the shower otherwise we'd be away now. Might still squeeze in a local one before you know what.

Whoops-I mean it as it was so similar in this area, open fields, meadow, heaving branches of fruit on Bushes & that beautiful mist that bounces the crunch of frost back at you as you walk topped with a blue sky above the mist, just magical.

Hope all goes well when the van is in WN. I’m always a bit nervous near service time but that’s our van three years old now and so far no major issue just a few small niggles that have been easy fixes.

Beautiful photos B2. Lucky you and Dora to have such a nice area to enjoy. Hope your eye check up goes well. Also Nellie's hospital visit.

Fingers crossed for all the longed for holidays!

    And the van check ups!

Got to keep these things going and ourselves too. smile

Quite quiet on the roads here today, fewer people out and about as we are now in level 4 and all non essential stuff is closed or restricted to click and collect.

OH has done a Christmas food order at Morrisons, we hope to be with DD and family.  She was going to order from M&S for a treat as we have gift vouchers for there, but almost everything was sold out, especially in the smaller sizes (serves 6-8) .  Looks like most people are planning for smaller gatherings.

Our son and family will be at their place with his wife's parents.  We have only seen them once since March, but they are trying to arrange that we can exchange Christmas presents by DIL and SIL meeting up before school one day.  They both work in schools in the same area.  Means we will need to organise some presents very soon!

Better get on with writing some cards too.

As most of the leaves have dropped now, I spent yesterday morning cleaning out the gutters, so a bit more sludge and foliage to mulch down.

Next project on my agenda is to fit a couple more solar panels. Can't decide whether to wire up as series or parallel. Any thoughts folks?

Stunning photos Bakers, very Rocky like😁 We haven’t had a frost here at home yet, although friends not far away have.

Just tallied up our nights away this Calendar year (so far). A rather pathetic 62 nights, and well over half of those were in cottages. (Careful use of that word there😂) We did a self imposed stay at home between end of first lockdown and September, so we could have done more, but rather pleased with amount of tasks we have got stuck into at home. We have rather enjoyed walking and cycling round our home area as well, and we did use MH for the odd nice day out once travel was allowed. And it was very useful in Norfolk staying in cottage.

We have decided not doing much for Christmas, not bothering with presents for each other, although we will treat ourselves on stuff for house. Keeping our safety bubble in place, just us two, Mum and Sister for a meal. Usual phone calls, texts to rest of family and friends.

Fingers crossed we might just get another holiday in before Christmas though, depends if any CLs open and on tiers. It will just be somewhere nice to walk, us and the pooch, a change of scenery. 🤞

Rocky sadly it's not among the rolling countryside. Having grown up as a country girl I've been a townie since my early 20's and moving to London. There I felt like a caged rabbit and escaped to mum and dad at weekends 😂. Lost mum last year, but the village not self sufficient as it was when I grew up, 10 mile round trip to GP, 4 miles round trip to a shop so despite fabulous views didn't keep the house 😢. Just the church and school now no pubs or shops. Only good thing buses run through the village far more often than when I grew up thanks to Stansted Airport. My last bus home from town arrived at 8pm, now they run until 2am and start again at 5am.

We're very lucky in our, now, city, we had a field and allotments behind us until about 20 years ago. 15 minutes walk into town but this stunning, free access and parking estate within 7 minute drive, not nice walk along busy roads 🙁 is a real blessing for Dora and I. If anything better than the countryside, as no sticking to footpaths and apart from the horses, kept in the paddock to assist with estate work, no animals and almost 600 acres of enclosed walking so totally lead free daily walks. Bliss.

Luckily we remain on the fringes of the city they are building building building thousands of dwellings and flats, we only had 1 highrise tower until a very few years ago, around the other areas, fingers crossed we're spared.

Just had a great walk and catch up over the estate with a friend. Brightened my day to have a chatty companion 😉 only talked rubbish but boy it was great. Sun now out.

    Stay safe folks

    Edit

Takethedogalong that's at least our 3rd frost so far. Santon Downham had a minus figure at grass level yesterday morning, but that it known for cool temperatures.

Not sure I understand you. Solar panels have a nominal voltage around 18-19V and are fed to the 12V battery through a controller.

OH suggests they need to run in parallel and a diode in each positive line, hope this helps I am not the technical one OH is.

I’m lucky being on the Holderness plain-arable country, farming on alluvial silt that is superb for all cereals, it’s breathtaking in high summer for the ripening corn, spring for the Hedges & flowers that are in abundance, Autumn for the colours that come with early frosts & the migrating birds over wintering here. Add to that the sea fret that rolls in during the cold months. I’d live nowhere but the Eastern coasts. It helps with my love of water sports(Mandraulically operated) no engines for me👍🏻. They’ll carry me from here, I’ll not walk B2👍🏻😊
