What are you all up to

My goodness Kj, that's some project that you're undertaking. Hope that all is not as bad as feared, and you are able to get it fixed.
Today was our last one away in the van for heaven knows how long, and as the weather was fine we had another walk on the beach. This, time we drove up to Embleton and walked northwards as far as Newton Point. Got talking to a lady from Gateshead who was staying in a holiday cottage at Beadnell, for a week from last Saturday, and she'd had an e-mail on Monday from the owner saying she had to be out by 9:00am Wednesday....not a happy situation for her, as she had a dog, no car and the remains of a full week's supply of food to try and take home on the bus.
After lunch at Beadnell we had a further walk through the dunes past the C&CC Site which was empty of vans and tents. Wonder if it hadn't opened this year following, the first lockdown?

Certainly never seen that reported on any local news or social media groups or witnessed it myself? Also odd that in most places they operate people don't have front gates as most of new MK is open plan. What area in MK does your cousin live?

Hope you get home safely, have enjoyed hearing about all the places you've visited. The Beadnell Bay site was open, we had to cancel during the first lockdown now rebooked for next year..hopefully!
Was talking to my friend today, her son has had to postpone his wedding for the fourth time, fifth time lucky in December?! The female guests have now bought clothes for every type of weather from Spring to Winter. 🌞☔⛄

Apologies for a very tardy reply Brue
!Ambled round to the Aged One to find her dysoning away like billyo, 'cos hair dresser had popped in to stock up on white hair supply.
Planted the emergency food stocks onto Kitchen table -- fair few quids worth of Cat Treats actually, so they got separated & mixed up so the moggy gets a different one each time. Left { with out a coffee
} and drove a few miles just to top up the battery a milliamperehour or sixty and [ wait for it wait for it ] heavy rain, followed by hail stones and then by SNOW. did not last long, but it was definitely SNOW !! and this in the County Palatine of Cheshire ~~ unheard of

Hope you are all tucked up now, Dreaming Dreams of the Innocent

Fortunately my part in the current renovations is pretty limited. The first plan was for me to make 2 base units for the first bathroom, but as the walls were in such a poor condition that they had to be over-boarded, the room has "shrunk" to such an extent that there was no room for the second unit, so a sink base was purchased and alternative storage for towels arranged, thus relieving me of that task.
I will still be fitting the cupboards once all the tiling is done, and no doubt will be required to do some painting, and the floor will be down to me too, once she can actually get flooring. Lots of things are in short supply at present.
The use of these back to wall toilets with cabinets concealing the cisterns was recommended by the builders, to conceal some unsightly pipework. The original plan was for ordinary toilets, so she had not researched what was available in cabinets. The other (new last year) cabinets in her en suite are matt finish, and there were no matt white toilet cabinets available anywhere, only gloss finish ones, which is what she has obtained for the first bathroom. However, the cabinets are of a quite simple construction, easy to make if you have the right bits, so that has gone well.
Now she has seen how easy they are to construct, she is wishing she had thought of getting me to make them to start with, the panels and fittings to make this one came to about £45, compared to the £200 she paid for the ready made one!
The demolition in the en suite is complete and thankfully the wetness had not affected the floor joists, so the damaged flooring has been replaced and now the builders are looking for the shower and the toilet pan for there to plan the pipework. The shower should have been delivered yesterday, but is now maybe coming tomorrow. The toilet pan was said to be in stock when she ordered it a few days back, but today she was told there would be a 2 week delay......not good when you have builders waiting to get on with things!
So tomorrow I will pick up an identical shower costing £150 more from a local bathroom place, just in case the other one does not arrive, and she will have to return it for a refund when it does. An identical toilet, costing £45 more has been sourced from another supplier, and we will buy the second one from her as we will be having the same toilet when we get our bathroom done.
The new shower tray arrived today, and the screen will be here soon, so hopefully things will go smoothly now. No doubt she will find a few more things to keep me busy!

Men finishing of the new fire surround at the moment, to go with the new fire / boiler they put in the other day. Then we can get on with decorating the room, stocked up with everything we need from B&Q on Sunday / Monday. So that's lock down taken care of.😂
Lovely day, roads dry so once they are finished hopefully we can get across to the storage and take the MH for a run round before lock down, just in case it drags on for more than a month.
Tesco home deliveries are starting to become difficult to get again.☹️ I haven't had an issue since the end of June.

I think it's a function of the end of folk taking holidays, which for us started when we went to tier 3. Personally I don't think there were a lot of spare slots, so it only took a slight increase in demand for them to become thin on the ground.

We have got Waitrose slots booked until the end on November. What I tend to do is once I have had one delivery I book a new slot as far forward as I can. However it seems that Waitrose have gone back to only booking slots for two weeks ahead. I imagine this might be because if they allow a longer window they get people booking who later cancel? We are getting to quite like the idea of home deliveries, we have had then uninterrupted since early April. Be interesting to see what we do when things get back to normal?

When the original lock down was on both of my daughters were wishing to self isolate. Neither were able to get proper delivery slots. This was because you needed a letter from government saying that they were vulnerable, despite the fact that both were. My eldest therefore went ot at a very quiet time and shopped about every 10 days until, 6 weeks later she got the aforesaid letter. Due to poor admin at her surgery it took nearly 2 months before she was able to get the letter. 6 weeks to get action from the surgery and another two weeks to get a letter from government.
Her local authority was able to act on the doctors letter but supermarkets would not. The LA provided an initial food box, most of which was given to a friend who was also self isolating whilst in late pregnancy and prescription collection. Fortunately my daughter was able to order food from a local caring cafe food supplier that is charity based and sells food donated by the local market and supermarkets.
They two initially wanted a government letter but as my daughter had often bought things there and also donated to them the chap running it made an exception.

Last day of our 3days here in Stonehaven, weather has been good sunny and dry. The weekend prior to us arriving they had very high waves which washed the shingle from the beach over the sea wall and all along the sea walk.
Off next for a few days to the Moray coast, weather is set to be dry so might be able to get out on the bikes.
Haven't done any online food shopping not even registered with any of the supermarkets, I like to see things before buying, can't get used to the idea of someone else picking my food. I suppose tins and dried foods would be ok but not meat, fish, veg and fruit which makes up most of our food shop.
Off out for a walk now, seen and heard enough about what's going on in USA, British news no better.

Same here Tammy. If I have forgotten an item of veg OH really does not like picking it up lest I criticise (I don't but she has heard me criticise what has been available on some veg shelves and left unbought).
Are Scottish sites open Tammy as I have not kept up with all UK nations and their changes and rules

Enjoy the trip Tammy. Will you go on anywhere after Moray?
We have had a few odd showers today despite Helen Willetts telling everyone yesterday that we would be unlucky to get one. Well, we were unlucky a few times.
Shopping day today. We headed for the large spacious Tesco near Broughton Aerospace, just inside the Welsh border. I was able to do the Tesco one myself whilst Mrs WN went around the much smaller and more compact M&S Foodhall. No shortages of anything. More packers than shoppers at Tesco.
Nice and quiet there but will be too busy next week as the non essential shops such as Primark re-open. I wonder how many English shoppers will try to venture over as the border is only a couple of miles down the road? Will the English border patrols be out in force or will they leave it to the Welsh? Any which way we'll be staying more local.
Hope Nellie, and anyone else on the way home today, had a safe trip.

No idea yet what the situation will be after our 'Firebreak'. At the moment it is illegal to cross the Welsh border. No idea yet if that will apply beyond the 9th November.

Holidays now seem like a world away south of the border! Hope you're enjoying the break.
We headed off for a day out before lockdown. Freezing cold earlier on but the day has been bright and sunny. Here's where we ended up. A few people with the same idea but not too many.

ET, sites are still open up here for now. We can't go into tier 3 areas or them out of them but if you are in tier 1 or 2 you can still travel freely. Worth saying that in tier 3 the sites are open to, so although you are not supposed to travel it would appear you can go to a local site.
WN, not sure were we will go after Moray, might go to Grantown on Spey, depends on the weather really. Just want to take it a day at a time given how things are. We can be home easily from around these areas if weather turns or the wee one changes her mind.
Brue, thanks enjoying it so far, glad you managed a day trip before lockdown.
Walk along the beach today then down to harbour, all along the beach there are dozens of bonfires out of drift wood. Shame we will not be here to see them go up. Lots of fireworks just been let off, first I've heard this year.
Stay safe everyone.

Thanks brue, we got home without any problems, a straightforward 4 hrs run plus a half hour stop for lunch. We were surprised how few other LVs were out on the road, perhaps they'd all headed home earlier in the week. Emptied the van, Flyte walked and most of the washing done by 3:30.
TG, which of the Moray sites are you using? Of the ones we've used Sunnybrae and Geddes House are our favourites.

Good to hear you got home safely.
We are going to Sunnybrae, was there earlier this year and liked it there. Good cycle route to Buckie, Findochty is a nice wee place for a walk. Just got 2 nights there booked as Mike is getting busy again.
Plenty of units out and about here mostly MHs but still some caravanners out. Site is about a third full, not bad for mid week and considering what's happening. Warden said they were almost full at the weekend and the weekend coming looks to be busy to. Mind you there isn't that many sites open that we can go to, so those that are will benefit.

Since my trip to the New Forest has fallen victim to the latest lockdown, I've started on the fitting of a microwave into the MH. The drawer front that it's replacing has a slight curve so it will disrupt the aesthetics a little bit.

I am just about to go and fetch the laminate flooring for the bedroom, it matches what is in the other bedrooms. It will be ages before it is needed but the type is discontinued now so these are apparently the last 10 boxes in the country.
Just hope they will load it in the car for me, it is heavy!
Tiler is coming to start in the bathroom today, OH had to go out to swap the tile cement DD had bought as the tiler prefers a different type that does not set so fast.
Still need to get a load of oak for door stops, skirtings and door facings, all sorts of materials in short supply. Fortunately it will be me fitting those, so not holding the paid workers back.

Another beautiful frosty morning here, quite pleased not to have to go out and buy anything and can do most things on line. Food delivery slots are a problem once more, I've got two booked but that's it. I think they're being released a day at a time (Waitrose,so might have to look in at some awful hour of the night or just increase the second order.) Our trusty farm shop and veg from the garden are the back up. Locally the hospitals are under severe pressure so I'll do my best to avoid visits to town etc.

Cool but dry { at present any way ! } in South Cheshire, able to get all the bird feeders topped up, should last 'til after lunch, greedy little *****s.
Then I will attack this on-line ordering business -- no pauses in the bird feeding arrangements but might have to throw myself on the mercy of Rishi wotsizname and the acting assistant deputy interim bank manager a k a the door guard
to see if I / birds qualify for State Aid Hope all you others trying to find " Slots " are having success both for convenient times as well as getting your requests fulfilled and not getting , say, cider vinegar instead of custard or, even worse, custard when you really did need cider vinegar
!!Take care all of you & spare a thought or six for KjellNN & his labours !!

It may be only November, but there’s a whiff of Christmas in the air here.
While rummaging in the depths of the freezer I found some Turkey Stock (made with last Christmas's turkey). So there’s a big pot of turkey, bacon and vegetable soup simmering away in the bottom oven. It smells good so I’ve every confidence it will go down well at dinner time. With homemade crusty bread of course!

Glad to hear that you got home safely nellie. We stayed in a holiday cottage in Embleton many years ago (it belonged to the parents of a friend of our son when he was at Uni). It is such a beautiful area with some lovely walks.
Glad you are enjoying your trip Tammygirl. You are so lucky to be able to get away.
ABM so pleased to hear that your sister is recovering. I expect you are all having a job trying to make her take life easy.
I have had a busy week catching up with friends and family before lockdown. Daughter and grandchildren came over on Sunday, I hasilty rescheduled a coffee meet up with ex work friends on Monday morning (instead of next week), met up with another 3 friends for coffee after my shift at the Cathedral, son, DIL and grandsons came over yesterday evening. Now all is quiet. Except I have to say that the traffic in our road doesn't seem any different to usual
. The Cathedral is only open for private payer for the next month which means as there will be far less visitors than normal and it is open for shorter hours they won't need as many volunteers. They are busy working out a rota at the moment so I am waiting to hear if/when I will be needed. OH has been told that they can carry on with their gardening. Beautiful weather yesterday and today. I much prefer the cold and sunny weather than the milder wet weather. OH is busy in our garden cutting back, putting some plants in the greenhouse and conservatory and general tidying. Off to pick up our click and collect order from Aldi shortly and I have a Morrison's delivery scheduled for next week. I am wondering whether to make a Christmas cake this year
KjNn it sounds as though you are going to have a very busy few weeks/months ahead.

Good to hear you got home safely Nellie, sad that you had to cut short your tours, it’s very much a way of life for you, and a few others, but hopefully it won’t be too long before you can get out again.
We are well into the lockdown routine here. I am up at Mums caring today, getting lots sorted for her. Nice bit of exercise for her, a half mile stroll in fresh air looking at woodland colours, gardens close by. This afternoon is all about making some home furnishings, a new lampshade, matching cushions and bolsters.
Stay safe tonight everyone, I hate bonfire night, too many folks get hurt.

I hate bonfire night as well TDA. I never really liked it as a child either.

Good to catch up on news here 😀.
Son and DIL plus grand dog came down for outside visit Tuesday, son did couple of outdoor DIY jobs for me, like putting new felt on shed roof, blown off in the gale, and replacing broken featherboard. DIL able to come too as ground to wet to drill so grateful for the rain for once. Really lovely to see them, and her little bump 😉. Daughter and granddaughter's video called that evening too - so nice family day of sorts. OH asked how school was, eldest granddaughter looked puzzled and said not been yet were having breakfast 😀 he'd forgotten the time zones! Youngest one, 4, read us her book! Almost 3 years since we've seen them in the flesh - will we see again eventually?
Beautiful frosty and cold day yesterday foggy frosty start today, but sun burned it off by noon.
Got OH out on the dog walk today 😃 good couple of hours slow wander round the estate, lots of social interaction at a safe distance did him good too. As one dog owner said about puppy chases they can mix more than their owners 🤣 at the mo. Had a hot chocolate approximately halfway round for his birthday treat! Hmm nice.
As our booked meal out at lunchtime was no go 😪😪 i have been able to order takeaway from the same place for 6pm tonight. We are just outside their 5 mile delivery, 5.8, i will have to collect it. Heated seat, insulation bag, hot wheat bags and a blanket should suffice! Plus I'll have the car warm.
Managed reflexology yesterday phew, next one is for 2nd fingers crossed. She can work on her foot care this time as the governing bodies have lobbied that it helps NHS and checks for diabetes etc, but they won't recognise complimentary or alternative treatments.
We've had fireworks going off quite a bit despite council asking for neighbourliness of two time slots 2nd one being 7pm tonight. And there's been a car watch display brought forward, wind bought sound of them our way. Dora not too bothered by them but lots if posts on our local fb group re petrified dogs. I'm none to keen on them myself, now the children are grown I no longer have to put on an act. I reckon it stems from very lights in ww1 in a previous life. Heaven knows how those with trauma from war find them.
Certainly less traffic about here by the sounds of things which is nice. Hoping the brighter days continue whilst the lockdown does.
Stay safe folks.
