Condolences to you all cornersteady. Never easy, lost mine last November at 89 but still at home and active, just looked like she was asleep in the chair. I'm comforted that she isn't here to be worried by this situation and we don't have to worry about her.
Yes celebrate her life as much as you are able. Hope you can arrange things for a funeral and that you won't be limited on mourners. So many ways this crisis impacts!!!

Sincere condolences C, very tough for you, even more so at the moment. Keep those precious memories close. 💐

Our thoughts are with you and your family, C. We heard just yesterday that a friend's mother had passed away at the age of 95. She'd had a fall back in February and never really got over it. Difficult times, you are right to focus on celebrating her life.

Is the flour from Shipton Mill? I've been getting my bread flour in bulk from them for about 15 years (I think). I have enough for bread (make every two days in breadmaker) but just looked online for ordinary "cake making " flour, and their onilne shop is now closed.
I'll have to ration OH at teatime.

Slow day today, weather not up to working in the garden so have picked up my knitting again (not now obviously)
Bit of soup making for lunch. Bit of housework.
OH is finding it hard to keep occupied, he would be quite happy reading a paper and snoozing in the chair if I let him but I won't
he's more sociable than me and likes going out and talking to folk.
It takes him ages to wash the car/caravan or go to post a letter.
He is used to being surrounded by folk. I'm used to being on my own and quite happy with my own company. I have lots of hobbies and interests and can honestly say I've never been bore. So this staying in business doesn't bother me, though I would much prefer to be in the garden. Can't wait for it to warm up, there are lots of things I plan to do now we can't go away.

No idea David, but usually up here, when we have requested permission for alterations, there have been some sort of conditions, at least for the street facing elevation, saying that new things have to be reasonably in keeping with what is already there in individual properties.
Some of our neighbours have changed window styles and/or colours, but for the whole house, which is fine, but this particular house just looks awful!

Fret not B2, I've "liked" yours instead --'cos you were much too early for me -- I was still feeding the tweets before brekky
!!
Millie, I'm not sure what is wrong with 'em either, but I do know a sure and certain cure
!
Deepest sympathy, Corners .

Well after the no toilet rolls saga, I had a text from the local council offering a telephone number for help with essentials if needed. I rang and explained our predicament that by the weekend it will be wrap and bag it, then into the bin, as I will take no chances with newspaper clogging the system, it really is that bad.
Fortunately he said they will help and would deliver said items to our door.

Tea break time but I have to chase OH 😲. Fresh garden mint this time. Just noticed we have ants about so weather must be getting better.
Tammygirl you sound like my husband very happy with own company, very socialable with folk. Also very content to sit and snooze and watch the news 😲😔 and politics, used to be very active. Good job I suppose as in a single ward for 4 months last year where I'd have climbed the walls! I like to be part of a team and love a chat, my posts probably reflect that! Sorry about your either I'm gardening in a tshirt and rather hot - sorry.
I will have to water Garden to work on the to do bits my neck is stiff as well as my hands being sore from the hardness of the earth!! Only last week or so my stepping stones were puddles - madness. I haven't seen one worm today they must have gone deeper there have been loads other days 😃. I'll get OH out with the hose on a mo on the bits on the shade. First I have to get him to dress for the weather and host bin blood - shorts and tshirt not enough especially in the shade. We have lots of bees including a huge one that shouldn't be able to take off by the size of it let alone stay airborne.
Keep meaning to write on here that I'm grateful we haven't so far been successful in getting a rescue dog or that the grand dog didn't arrive for OH's therapy as walking it would cause me anxieties at the moment. Confined to the house and garden I shouldn't encounter anyone. Mind you the not mixing or visiting other than persons in your own household falling on deaf ears nextdoor 😤😤. Thank goodness for fences!
Just read posting from the police that a nearby large village has someone with the virus who is refusing to stay at home and going out mixing and coughing on folk. I hope they can find him and ........... what will /can they do with him?
Stay safe folks.

With deepest sympathy Corners. Sounds like a peaceful ending and you are right to celebrate her life.
Lots of work around the garden done, caravan washed, a bit shopping done. Mrs WN (the healthy one) went into Tesco's and M&S almost next door to each other today whilst I stayed in the car. Got enough to keep us from starving. Both shops restricting numbers in. It's normally manic down there but today it was relatively quiet.
I noticed a couple of things on the tele/radio to keep me occupied and take my mind off current matters.
Taping a film on ITV2 this afternoon - Contagion. All about a killer virus decimating the earths population. Nice escapism there
and with apologies to Corners (look away now)
Next Thursday on Radio 4 Extra - How to Dig a Grave. Apt if you watch the film first.
There are a few people in programming planning that might need to find a job soon.

I recall earlier this week, Bakers2, that a group of three late teenagers who coughed, deliberately, over a pair of pensioners got stroppy when they were admonished. The answer may yet be coming -- at least one was charged with Actual Bodily Harm ! . in the case of your nearby villager perhaps he could even be Sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Well, before I go and iron the newly washed towels {
} I've had a careful check on the lovely clear and light blue sky. Verified my facts with the neighbours and it's true really it is -- Only one vapour trail has been spotted over Cheshire today -- Wonder if something { oops no delete that } wonder if nothing is happening at Manchester Ringway

Whoops checked my source on the virus spreader 😉. It wasn't the police site but a recognised reliable one as far as I know.
Tidied up now, washing in, sun losing its heat.
ABM OH said charge could be Actual Bodily Harm, he knows these things or mental health. Latter probably better as could be detained. Some lucky plod got a nice job 😢.
Yes we've had very little in the way of aircraft in our sky - lovely change. Saw on NZ news that Air New Zealand had a dreamer liner from Singapore who Auckland yesterday with just 4 passengers. NZ are bussing their returnees to a hotel and 14 day isolation. Brilliant! Singapore doing the same I gather from a friend who's granddaughter returned last week, she was allowed home and whole family to isolate. Checked up by phone and random house calls to check it's happening.

Just had a letter popped through the letter box.
A group of 15 local women have volunteered to do the shopping/collect medical supplies/visit the post office or just be available to talk over the phone to anyone in the village who is isolated and needs such help.
They've provided their phone numbers and names and have had the local councillor sign the letter to show it is genuine.
What a lovely gesture.Thought this might balance the bad news about loutish behaviour.

A trio of oiks in Hull coughed and spat at a female RSPB Inspector today, whilst she was trying to free a trapped swan. These charmless nerks shouted 'Have Coronavirus, b*tch'.
CPS have stated that such assaults will be prosecuted and that the maximum sentence is 2 years jail. I can just see the 'distraught' mother of the oik on the local news report, 'E were onny havin a laugh. It's what kids do, ennit? There were no reason for police to get involved, and now they've landed 'im wi' a criminal record, and he doesn't deserve that, he's a lovely lad who wouldn't harm anybody ...'

We had a flyer delivered from the local group of neighbourhood helpers. It was much appreciated and I texted my thanks but hope we won’t need them.

Got the wrong county Goldie, I was just thinking Cotswolds! It's from FWP Matthews in Oxon between Burford and Chipping Norton. I couldn't get any from Shipton Mill, I tried several. I used to get it from Charlecote Mill when we lived in Warwicks, I see they are very busy too.

WN just shows there are some really nice, genuine people about.
B2 like your OH I’m happy with my own company, if I take the van out by myself I might not talk to anyone from one day to the next. I don’t need tv, don’t listen to the news make my own meals. I suppose it runs in the family, my brother has lived in his MH now for about 6 or 7 years and often goes for days without human contact.
Went for a walk by the river dock work quieter than the other day. Called in to Shops and got meat and veggies, all produced in Norfolk.
Just had tea and one of Mrs Ones homemade hot cross buns and it was truly delicious, better than any shop brought

Oh dear, apparently its not toilet rolls in America they are stocking up on, their essential items are guns and ammunition.
Besides the kitchen going to be decorated, my wife has just mentioned the woodwork of the garage needs doing. I believe she's holding on to that old fashioned belief that decorating is just a mans job?

Than you all so much for your kind words, I am really touched and it very much appreciated and I've shown them all to Mrs C.
I was going to thank you all by name but there are too many and you know who you are anyway so please forgive me if I don't but I treasure each and every one post.
The funeral will be quite different due to the virus, there will be no church service but a graveside service with the coffin brought straight there, no arranged flowers but we can and will bring our own, and we can't take any clothes for her to be buried in and they will supply a simple gown. Due to travel and her other daughter living away and in a high risk group there will my family there.
I actually think she would approve of a simpler service like this, she was one to put her faith into action with people rather than into church services.
Thank you again.

According to my OH, anything that needs a ladder is my job, otherwise I am only allowed to use emulsion paint! Indoor woodwork is strictly her preserve.
We too have had a leaflet delivered with details of volunteers to contact for help with shopping, we also had a long telephone call from our church elder, and today a nice card from our next door neighbours, a younger couple with 2 very polite little boys, giving a contact number and offering help with shopping.
There are a lot of good people around.

Our village has got themselves together and have a lot of volunteers helping out with those that need it, all organised through the 'Timebank'
Leaflets through doors and an online social page on FB giving information on how the shops in the city are doing, what shops are now restricting numbers of shoppers at anyone time etc.
Some are passing on tips of how to keep the kids happy, others are sharing recipes and pictures of what they have made. Never known so much social activity in our village, most days you are lucky if you get a 'hello' at of some.
Condolences to CS and Mrs CS, thoughts are with you.
