Its an odd feeling sleeping in till midday, as you have nowhere to go,

When you do get up, go up the garden tidying up again, like you did yesterday,  The house is spotless, the cars are immaculate and that leaves going for a constitutional ensuring that you avoid all people as far as possible.

Thank goodness for our kids, the wine rack is now well stocked, fridge refilled by daughter and enough to live on for the next two weeks. Hopefully by then we can get on line to do our shopping. Something we can't do at present.

How are you all holding up?

Spent the day in the garden smile taking my time as we seem to have plenty of it now. Weather was lovely and sunny.

OH has been up on the roof  installing a new tv aerial which had been blown off during the storms weeks ago. Luckily he bought a new one weeks ago so no need to go out to get one.

One of our cars is due to go into the garage tomorrow on a recall notice, not had a message to say its cancelled so will give them a call first thing to check.

OH is putting together a list of things like wood etc that he wants to get before 'lock down' lots of projects to do in the garden. I would like to get some paint so I can do the spare bedroom on the days its not nice outside.

Both of my freezers (1 small chest, 1 small upright) are full, cupboards have a reasonable amount in as we always have a good stock over winter in case we have bad snow.  Will still buy fresh supplies as and when required, think we can easy manage 2  weeks.

Haven't gone to online shopping as we are not in the vulnerable group so can get to shops. If/when we have to quarantine then I will look at it, don't want to add to the already oversubscribed delivery services.

Not done a lot today. Planted out half a dozen Agapanthus that were kept in the greenhouse to overwinter. Did a bit more clearing of the border, not much left to do. Sowed some Rudbeckias and tomatoes (Sungold). Decided to try an online shopping order for the first time, as we’re trying to stay in as much as possible. Surprisingly, we were able to book a slot for tomorrow, with Morrisons. We did try Asda first, but no slots were available, none!

PS I do hope we aren’t in ‘lockdown’ anytime soon, I’m counting on my delivery of timber from B&Q in just over a week. If I don’t get it, that’ll throw a spanner in my veg growing works surprised

Belated Happy Mothers day to all you breeders.winksmile

MiL has had a day of being spoilt. Lovely body cream to start with. Oh lovely she said. It's anti wrinkle! Didn't want to ruin the day by saying a steam iron might be better.surprised

Not long finished dinner which was one of her favourites, mucho brownie points for me. She also has guzzled 2 Kir Royals (Cassis and Champers, except we went cheap and got the Prosecco. As long as it's got bubblies it's acceptable).

Not surprised to find her asleep in the chair just now. God Bless her.

We'll be checking what half full tins of paint we have in the garage tomorrow. Plus a bit more gardening. Hellibores looking good right now.

Enjoying the antics of the garden birds.

Following on from Brue's comments, I saw a photo of an inscription in the grime on the back of a Transit "No toilet rolls left in this van overnight".

    On a similar vein...

Very neat, looks solid too. As I’m going for 10ft long beds, my concern was that 25mm thickness might produce a bulge, which is why I’ve opted for 45mm. I had thought to start a ‘Gardening’ thread, but I guess posting here is ok. I’ll update as I go along, so maybe we can compare notes smile

To stop the “bulge” I added a strengthening piece of wood and then knocked a piece of steel box section in to the ground and all screwed together

Awoken to another beautiful morning. Not out of bed yet! Conversation, by text, with daughter in NZ. She and her girls sent home from school and childcare this afternoon, yes I do mean that 13 hours infront!, they go into lockdown for 4 weeks from midnight Wednesday, details still emerging. That'll be quicker than us. Trying not to overly worry I forget shes a big girl now - grown woman married and mother of 2 BUT shes still my little girl 😂.

Time to shift and decide which exciting task, there's lots but they're all not done cos they are not ones I want to do!, will fill my hours - can't do any cooking no real ingredients and we may eat the results too quickly 😉. Might start on the shed - but that's a huge task, haven't worked out how to proportion bits plus can't get rid of the 'unwanted' as self isolating due to OH health. Will do a bit of gardening, friend dropped off a couple of plants on my doorstep. She forgot to text to tell me so lovely surprise, luckily she had written a beautiful postcard with details of the plants otherwise it would have remained a mystery.

However you spend your day enjoy it.

Visiting dog has just arrived, he is dropped off at a distance and runs up to the back door! Our daughter will be in her secondary school today awaiting arrangements for students who will need to be there rather than at home.

A new spare bed is arriving today, delivery driver asked us if we were isolating, unfortunately this will mean we have to manhandle the bed in from outside...thank goodness it's not a king-size!!

B2 how is OH coping so far?  We've decided to leave the shed and the attic alone for the moment as dumping stuff would be a problem.  Still going on with years of paperwork, we can shred that and then stick it in the compost bin

    Stay safe out there

Oh how when I worked I longed for no work days! Now theres little joy in nothing in the diary 🤔. Perverse isn't it?

Even feels different from normal 'do as you please days' as someone retired.

Oneputt thanks for asking hes doing ok thank you. Always happy with own company and just contemplating  unlike me! He's of the opinion what will be will be, but being sensible.

Yes shed tidying can happen in stages and use the black bin. This week I cut up, using a jigsaw, the waterbutt that had a huge split in the bottom years ago but was kept incase it was usual 🤔🤔. Some advantages to calling the shots! At the mo I've put it separately in the plastic recycling bag but if they leave it behind I'll put it in the black bin.

OH had an appointment for cardiac department this Wednesday, first we knew was a text reminder last week. Tried phoning hospital this morning all usual numbers unavailable, got to talk to consultant's secretary  as we have her number, who's lovely, she said not to go. Consultant may do telephone consultation- he's going to go through wednesdays appointments today to keep as many away as possible. Only called after another 'lecture' from son on not to take him. Trouble is as it's his heart it's important too 😀. Luckily we saw the community cardiac nurses last week so I feel happier.

Sun is streaming into the conservatory currently 24, can get used to this but must do something constructive before noon - a bit of time to go yet 😀

Just read that 6 x ambulances were vandalised in Kent on Saturday night, had their tyres slashed.  Fortunately the tyre companies sorted poste haste to get them back on the road.  What are these low life’s thinking about

A bit of trivial news - got the shorts out for dog walking this morning - spring has definitely arrived! smile

More interesting to some of you maybe, I had an email from Malcolm Mehta  (remember him?) to say that he and his wife have had to leave their seasonal pitch but have managed to get a pitch on a nearby commercial site so they're ok for the time being. smile

    😤😢

I despair. I suppose they won't need one!

Read that police had been spate at and abused in Yorkshire!

I have some great fears that I'm trying to quell.

Love it, the shorts I mean. Still feels like I'm in warmer climes here on the conservatory. Coffee time now!

Thanks for the update on Malcolm I have wondered about him and his wife ocassionally. Her visa must be sorted then. Wonder how long he can stay where he is, at least he has his cousin, hopefully, so might be able to park on the drive if push comes to shove? I presume he's still working and driving his electric vehicle?

Car taken to garage first thing by OH, he called first to see if they still wanted it in, yes we are till working but no indication if they are sanitising the vehicles before handing over. So will take sanitiser with us when collecting. They did offer a driver to bring OH home but we declined it as prefer to not to be in close quarters with others, so I went in to bring him back.

Not so sunny and warm today but still going out in the garden for some fresh air. Managing now to get the washing done, not rushing any jobs as want to spread them out to keep me active. Was going to collect my prescription from the chemist this morning but the queue outside was long so decided it could wait until the panic is over. They are not allowing anyone into the chemist at all, they come to the door to you.

Local Spar doing really well they seem to have everything you need unlike the big supermarkets, although Aldi has most things and not busy at all now. We have a village butcher who normally struggles to remain in business, he is not struggling at the moment. Lots of folk using his shop and asking for orders and could he deliver. Local fruit and veg man has been so busy with his veg + fruit boxes he has had to take on more staff and get another van. I hope all those using these services are going to stay loyal once this crisis is over.

We have unearthed our Nintendo Wii, should we get to the situation where we can't go out for walks/cycle then we will use it to keep fit while having a good laugh at the same time, mental health is going to be a problem for some.

    Stay safe folks.

Got a phone call this morning --  From Well Pharmacy telling me my prescription was ready for collection smile. It's a bit cool, so I put a warm top fleece on and strolled round  --  a good 5 minutes walk.

Got to the site to find a queue - well spaced out - all round the car park. Only two at a time allowed in to the premises and then we had to stand in specific areas, which were well marked with "Hazard Tape " Five minutes after I got my meds I was back home BUT it had taken 3 / 4 of an hour. Most folk accepted the necessity but a couple of pl****rs were whining as usual. To be expected I suppose.

Now a Light lunch, then a little bit of Voovoovacuuming then something I've been avoiding  --  all those old slides to be sorted , only 64,000 frown

stay safe and well and be kind to each other please  kiss.

No problems thankfully here, two outside waiting, in, out and done.

I did a good walk, solo, this morning, while OH took pooch for his stroll. Enjoyed viewing lots of gardens, there was little traffic out (only the odd speeding idiot😡) and it is a truly glorious morning here, 16c after a very cold frosty night.

Glad we had ordered and picked up our prescriptions 10 days back!

Started nice here, but dull now.  Had arranged with DD to pick up some stuff from her garage that I had forgotten, she opened the door remotely, so we stayed well apart, then she disappeared while OH picked up the other items from the worktop by the back door.

On the way home we stopped at the timber merchant to buy an oak plank, self service at the racks and tape on the floor inside marking where to stand.  OH went and paid as she is quite a bit younger than me, and had read somewhere that males are more at risk than females.

She also went alone into Aldi for milk and a few other essentials, so we have all we need for the next few days.  The customers were observing 2 metre separation, so that was good, and the shop was very quiet, and surprisingly well stocked.....even had some toilet rolls!

OH went to a local farm suppliers to get compost, man on the door handing out sanitizer, then disposable gloves which had to be put in a bin when leaving. Wonder if food shops will operate this system?!

Lovely warm day at home so sat outside in the sun. Garden photos show Spring is really on the way.

Have we become so feral that ****** can vandalise ambulances and assault the police? Rhetorical. We've been feral for some time now.cry

Kept ourselves busy today without going overboard about it. I think we'll be in essential travel only locally soon so have cleared the garage and loaded the car and we're off to the tip tomorrow. Just found out that the garden refuse bins will not be collected until further notice. So fly tipping will increase. I wouldn't mind but our local council have just forced everyone to pay for the service. Last year it was 1 bin free, 2nd.bin onwards charged for. We have 2 bins. This year it's both bins at £32 each and guess what, yep, we've paid up last week. No refund mooted yet.
