We visited a garden yesterday, Benington Lordship, which is only open occasionally throughout the year. Not as much to see compared to Abbotsbury  but interesting all the same with a fine selection of Hellibores. The house is private but one can wander all around the grounds, and there's an interesting folly and a ruined Norman keep.

Today we had a rather slippery walk along the Ickneild Way to Therfield Heath above Royston. Two fine sunny days on the trot, wonder if it will continue for a while so that the ground can dry out a bit.

Yes, another nice day here as well. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, that bit of warmth is bringing garden on, although had a bit of a ground frost here overnight.

Today has been a little mixed in the end Chris.  Quite windy on Portreath beach this morning, and we had a hail/sleet shower down at Caerhays beach (Portluney) this afternoon.  Got back to the car only to find a completely flat OS rear tyre.  No phone signal to get help from MayDay, so struggled up to the Texaco Garage at Ruan High Lanes and caed for the MayDay.  They came within 40 minutes, but the tyre is no good.  Now I need to source a new tyre before our journey back on Wednesday morning - don't like the idea of the journey without a spare.  We'll see what tomorrow brings....  🙂

Sorry to hear about the flat tyre, David, I know how you feel. Hope you can get a new one sourced tomorrow. Is there a mobile tyre fitter that you can call to get the job sorted? The site warden should have a number probably.

David, I’m sure you’re aware that there’s a tyre depot in Redruth and a KwikFit in Truro by the County Arms (good carvery) on the A390 at Highertown.

So sorry to hear about your tyre troubles DSB. I hope you get it sorted before your journey home.

We love Abbotsbury brue. I think I have mentioned before that I have a cousin who lives nearby and we have visited with him and his wife.

So glad you had a lovely long weekend away Helen.

We are now at the Premier Inn near East Midlands airport ready for our flight in the morning. We have had hot showers - luxury!! We are looking forward to 10 days of hot water and hopefully warm and sunny weather 🌞😎. Our new boiler is scheduled to be installed after we get home

DSB, I can picture you down at Caerhays and the journey to the garage, we stayed on a CL near there a couple of years ago. Glad you got hold of MayDay in the end. Hope things get fixed for the return journey.

Good to hear you on your way Millie, I bet the hot shower was a welcome sight!! Enjoy your holiday.

I should note all these CLs down when they get mentioned on CT Helen, sounds like a well earned break. smile

Catching up day from yesterday. Still not complete though as 1 item not in at car place and only part of prescriptions in so have to go back.

Mrs WN now has temporary filling pending our return and has 2 appointments for a crown. We remembered that we were supposed to call back at the garage where her car was serviced to have a new seal put on the petrol cap so we headed there after the dentist.

Plus more packing and taking stuff out of the caravan and car. Good job we started early.

    Have a nice holiday Millie.

Really enjoyed a day of sunshine here, don't think it will be as good tomorrow but nice to get outside. Met up with some village friends this afternoon, caught up on the local news and views. Our garden help will be around tomorrow, in preparation Mr Brue has done some outside work to impress her! wink

We had sunshine today too although we had a couple of showers, still managed to get some washing dry outside.  Met up with some friends for coffee this morning, and then off to work this afternoon.

Glad you got your new true sorted David, enjoy your break in Cornwall.

Millie,  hope you have a great holiday.

Glad Mrs WN has had for filling sorted today, OH had his dental appointment for today cancelled.

We have been watching a Blue Tit checking out our nest box over the last week or so, keeping fingers crossed they might nest there.

Brue, I know what you mean about making a note of CL's mentioned on CT, I try to keep a note but often forget, and then can't find the post again.

Tyre all done after our lunch at the Pandora Inn, near Falmouth.  Then a ride out to Hayle to collect pasties for tea after stopping off at Godrevy on the way.  Weather good today.  Home tomorrow..

Millie, you've probably arrived by now. It's been another lovely day today 28c,  had my usual swim of 10 lengths earlier today as it was so warm. Went out this afternoon for a drive then walk.

Moulsey, yes it was the big market at Teguise, changed our minds as it happens and just chilled by the pool laughing think we will go to the market tomorrow at the Rubicon marina down at playa blanca. As we have 3 weeks plenty of time to do them all.

We've changed 1 of our apartments to another one, which means we now have all 3 weeks in the same apartment smile no more having to move at the end of week 1.

Resort busy but nice and  quiet thankfully.

WN, hope you manage to get packed up and away with no issues.

Conversation with Mother In Law today

"Thanks for doing our ironing whilst we were out and about"

"No problems love. I know you're busy getting ready"

" Tell me though. Why did you only iron one leg of my trousers?"

    "I didn't. I ironed 2 legs

    "look at them then"

"Oh, I seem to have ironed the same leg twice"

    Fortunately much laughter ensued.smile

Glad to hear you're having a decent break this time TG. Hope it continues in the same vein.

Dentist this morning for check ups, all good, just a scale and polish each.  Then some shopping at Asda for stuff DD wanted, the rest of the day doing small jobs at the house, then shopping, for us, at Lidl on the way home.

OH has now booked all our  sites for our Easter break, 2 CAMC sites, 3 CCC sites and 1 CL.   There is a definite shortage of CLs in Northern Scotland!   We need EHU and hard standing, but are otherwise not bothered.

Yes TG we arrived this afternoon after an excellent stress free journey. Having been loyal TC customers for many years this is our first time with Jet2. Can thoroughly recommend them for customer service. Also got taxi from airport to hotel instead of coach transfer. Such a difference! Weather wonderful. Glad you are having a good holiday.

Such a good laugh about your MIL and the trousers WN 😂😂

Good to hear that you've arrived safely, millie, and that the weather's fine.

TG it appears that you've picked the right time to be over there, glad you're enjoying your stay.

Pleased to hear that you were able to get a new tyre, David, and had a good day out.

WN, we laughed at your tale, thanks for sharing. Hope that Mrs WN's temporary filling last all the way through your holiday.

Glad to see that you're OH has sorted out your Easter trip. Which CL was she able to find over in the West as there certainly is a dearth of them?

Have had this Dahlia growing for several years out front.

’Kenora Sunset’. One of the early blooms...

Happy birthday to your mum, Tda. Glad that she's had a good day.

It's not been as fine here today but it did stay dry although it was quite chilly. Visited Wimpole Estate for a walk round the grounds with Flyte before lunch then we wandered round the gardens and Home Farm before going into the hall, which was given to the NT by Rudyard Kipling's daughter Elsie Bambridge. They have just completed a new car park and reception hall, which are over 1/4 ml away from the stable buildings , with the hall well beyond that too, so not ideal for those that can't walk great distances.

That’s a beauty. I like the “Bishop” ones, lovely black foliage as well as bright flowers. Apparently, Prince Charles has a Black garden at Highgrove, and they remove the buds and grow them for foliage alone. I had a couple of Bishop of Llandaff for years, never dug them up or overwintered them and they got really big. However our really hard Winter of 2010 did for them terminally. Looking forward to seeing them later in year. Do you overwinter yours Freddy? I am wondering about large pots to be honest.

If that question is for me Nellie, then the CL is stop number 2, Gamrie Bay, which we discussed before.  As you say, they are in very short supply on the west  coast.

Full itinerary is CAMC Banchory, Gamrie Bay, CCC Dingwall, CCC Poolewe, CAMC  Morvich and CCC Glencoe.

No prize for guessing which will be the most expensive site!

Quite early in the year for a trip up north, but we do not mind the cold, just hoping it is reasonably dry!  We were up north as far as Dingwall at Easter last year and the weather was cold but dry.

For the past few years, I’ve just left them in the ground, and they’ve been ok. I have in the past dug them up when the frost takes the foliage, cleaned them up and kept them frost free in boxes partially filled with compost until they shoot again in spring, but now I let them take their chances. I don’t think it’s so much the cold that does the damage, but cold coupled with wet. I do try to mitigate by adding and digging in my old spent compost which I think helps to keep the soil open/not so heavy. Pots might work, but I’m thinking that the cold will be able to penetrate through the top and sides? (Assuming they’re to be kept outside)

As it happens, we’ll not be bothering with the floral aspects of gardening  much this year, as we will be away for much of the time, so won’t be around to maintain it.

    In other news...

I heard today that one of our group (I play seniors golf) has died. A lovely chap, liked by all. I played alongside him on quite a few occasions, the last time only a couple of weeks ago, and he was fine then. Makes you think...

Thanks for the F55, we have very dry Winters usually, but not this year! Pots would go into greenhouse, so it might be a good option.👍

Edit, sorry to hear about your friend, we are still reeling from losing a dear neighbour on New Year’s Eve unexpectedly.

WOW, got on 'ere at last  surprised  More errors than the tax man makes today  !!

Still I'm glad every thing seems to be going well for you gardeners and wheel changers smile. I'm doing a long slow appraisal of Club Sites acceptable for my Summer Holidays wink but it's long slow task 'cos I had a visit to Dracula this morning and she was not a Happy Impaler. I had 10:30 appointment but was home by then 'cos she'd already had a fair few "Missing, presumed Chicken " so those of us there were getting Called, In, Bled and dismissed sooo quickly laughing But at least she ensured we were not another group of bleeders, I have to admit !!

Still I wish you all a pleasant late afternoon and Evening ( If I can Reply on this thing today yell  )

EDIT :--  I've only just realised I've got the Grey Man back --  Whoopeee  !!
