What are you all up to

I have had several similar from BT. The email is very convincing, looks just like the BT ones I get, but is lacking our acccount number. It apologises for a price increase, promises a better service etc. and asks you to accept new conditions of service, or you will loose your connection. They of course supply a link to log into your account.😂

My curry and Adnams went down well last night. Now getting ready to walk down to the beach for our monthly ex works Breakfast club, good old English fry-up, only time I get to eat fried bread and black pudding😁 It’s dry here although the wind is getting up a bit.

When I get calls I always do one of three things, either cut the call straight away, if I'm bored play along keeping them talking, (sorry my computer isn't switched on... hang on...what windows button... at least they're wasting their time on me rather than someone who will believe them.
Or I'll say right away 'will it be quicker if I give you my bank details straight away?'

Yes there is. I look out of the window and the sky is blue for a change. Good old Boris, I say. Getting stuff done already.

I feel sad. Forty seven years ago, this country owned its basic infrastructure, its ability to power, transport, feed itself, keep itself reasonably healthy. Today we own very little of our infrastructure, our big commodities are provided by other nations, huge amounts of our food come from overseas, and if it wasn’t for a large percentage of non British citizens, I suspect our NHS would founder. So, what do we do? We give it all up.
Scunthorpe and it’s steel workers voted near 66% in favour of leaving, little did they realise the French would still have a say in their future. It’s very sad, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Logic to me says if you are thinking of getting a divorce, you sort your basic necessities, your ability to survive well out first. That’s what worries me the most. Thankfully, no children, no grandchildren, hopefully we will get by in the next couple of decades.
Others will have a different slant, different thoughts, different priorities, wants and needs. I respect that, and hope it works out. 🤞

Thanks Millie, I'm getting better, not quite 100% yet. Our little dog is six months old, she was one of six puppies and two adult dogs plus their owner living in a tent. Due to these very cramped circumstance two of the puppies had been injured, a broken leg for one and broken toes for another. The rescue centre took them in last December, repaired the broken leg and pinned it and sorted out the other injuries. Our little dog was ok but a bit nervous, understandable after all she'd been through. However we had applied several times for a variety of dogs and were very surprised to get a phone call asking us if we'd like to view her. Mr Brue had to go with my daughter as I was in bed, rather poorly at the time! It has all worked out in the end although we never intended to have such a young dog or such a small one...she is a chihuahua, I have had to learn to spell that word!
Introductions with the cat have gone well, visiting dog next. I think it will be ok, he's fairly sociable...
So I haven't had time to think about Brexit folks, life goes on, let's hope for the best for everyone whatever their views.

Little dog sounds lovely brue. Another lucky little pooch. Our cats and dogs always got on together, although dogs wouldn’t tolerate any visiting cats!
I haven’t given B much thought either since GE, life goes on, hopefully much has it has done for us. We are lucky. Although, Scotland does sound enticing......😁

Brue - My sister and family have a little chihuahua it’s a lovely little dog but very lively we look after her sometimes and always enjoy having her around the house.
Regarding the scam phone calls we got one form “Amazon” last week saying we had to pay our monthly £39 subscription as it was over due very strange I though as we don’t even have an Amazon account lol

Glad to hear you've found a 'filler' for that gap in your life Brue
.
It never ceases to amaze me how these little incidents can have an impact on those around us. T'other week there was a dog left tied to a church altar { Manchester way I seem to recall ) with a tearful plea for somebody to take it on. Fortunately the plea cut both ways and the dog was taken care of but the owner has been traced and she too has been cared for. The best part is that the dog will be returned to her when her own situation has stabilised.
Other things are now occupying my mind -- phone messages arrived at 10:45 last night asking if there was any sign of fireworks this side of the water !! Replied that there would be if they interrupted my pre-bedtime reading again !! It was just a very close friend on a two month trip to Fuengerola or some such Spanish place extracting the mickey -- assured me there was not even a cheaper than usual glass in the nearby bar !!

Democracy?, me too👍🏻. However I’m a remainer who accepted the vote. Nothing is more important than democracy.

I have accepted it. Got no choice, water under the bridge. But I prefer my democracy well informed, truthful, and based on facts. It was too big to play party politics with, should have been a cross party referendum, and then all the issues sorted out cross party. Instead it became quite frankly embarrassing. I wouldn’t fall out about it with family or friends though. People make the decision that suits them best.

Just catching up, lovely news about your new dog Brue, she sounds gorgeous
Also please that you are now feeling much better. We visited our son last weekend, their cat took one look at our dog and disappeared under a kitchen cupboard!
Moulsey, hope all goes well for you and your new dog, such exciting times.
It has been a slow week at work, but it has meant I have been able to catch up with the filing.
Lovely sunny day but breezy, have been for a wander round NT. Charlcote Park today to blow away the cobwebs. The NT have opened up more of the park for dogs and opened a new cafe which they are trialling as dog friendly, info of anyone is planning a visit.

Those who did not vote when the opportunity was there ,and are probably the most vocal , thinking (as per the person who called it)that it would be a vote to stay , did not ,as seems to happen more these days , read the signs

Do any of you know how much "stuff" you have in your kitchen? I don't think we did!!! Trying to clear everything out for the fitters coming next week. By the time you pack everything away in boxes you also realise how small your house is!!! We had about 20 odd of those folding crates having purchased a few more from B&Q a week or so ago. All used, so off I went to B&Q as they had shelves full the last time we were there. Today one! Went to homebase, nothing. Then I thought, David, why don't you use the technology you have in your mobile phone. Sure enough discovered that Argos had some and that was nearby. No wonder people do all their shopping online these days!!!

Don't over do it, Triky
!! Take care of that body, 'tis the only one you get
!!
David K has commented on how much "stuff" there is to be shifted from his kitchen. Now he's got it all packed and sorted but I'm not too sure he realises that he's got to do something with those crates he's bought after he empties them. Think he could do with finding something like a boatyard to hide 'em away come Spring

We'll never know, Kjell, and it's not worth bothering about now. There are plenty of alternative ways of organizing the way we vote in this country but I very much doubt that the government will change from the present system, it's not in their interests to do so.

I am with you K on that one.
H&T thanks for the Charlecote Park update. It’s an Estate we visit rather frequently, as it’s on our route too and from SW. I seem to recall NT were doing similar at Mount Grace Priory as well regarding cafe. However, they still won’t let pooches into ruins😡
I have had a lovely day today. The sort that doesn’t usually come along until March time. But it’s been warm and sunny here, if rather windy, so we have been in garden most of day. Taken an old shed down and cut up wood for stove, planted a Magnolia, planted loads of self seeded hellebores, got a lot of tidying done in general, then finished off with a bonfire in the brazier, lots of dried out stuff burnt. We are still awaiting dates for our tree cutting, but at least we can store logs now at bottom of garden. Tired, but happy😁

Welcome to all new doggies - lovely to hear of the new additions.
Hope the kitchen is going well DavidK. We use our foldable boxes quite a lot these days - usually in the boot of the car when we go away in the caravan...
Have a good evening everyone.
David
