What are you all up to

All our very best wishes that all goes well with the introduction, and Lady doesn't feel too put out.

Well the good news is that the two dogs got on really well together, racing around outside, inside the house and even in the car. We're going to meet up again tomorrow before making a final decision (us and the other owner who has also said that he'd be happy to hang on to the boy until we get back from our upcoming holiday.) So all looking very promising!

They are lovely dogs. We had a golden retriever for 14 years, he was a really special, lovely dog, but we always hankered after a Setter. I couldn’t have another dog after him, but only for emotional reasons, if that doesn’t sound too soft!!

Good luck Moulesy!
To cut a long story short including me getting ill in the middle of it all we too have decided to have a dog again. We collected her from the rescue centre today! (She was one of eight tiny dogs living in a tent, all now rescued and I sincerely hope the owner has better found better accommodation too.) I am having trouble typing this as my space has well and truly been invaded.

And good luck to you, too, brue. All our dogs have been rescued or rehomed with us - such a worthwhile thing to do and, in our case, there has never been a good time to take on a puppy anyway. We're just hoping that the boy's owner doesn't change his mind - it's such a difficult decision to have to make.

We used to have two dogs, ‘Bunty’ (Cocker) and ‘Dexter’ (Lhasa Apso). Dexter died suddenly six years ago, and Bunty last year. We could easily get another dog, but we’ve decided against it. For one thing, we don’t want the heartache of it again. Secondly, we don’t want the restrictions and commitment they bring. It’s not easy though!

Agree, Freddy, it doesn't matter how many times you go through the loss of a pet, the heartbreak is never any less.
Of course restrictions are part of the job description and we are lucky in that one of my ex students will look after Lady when we go abroad - it's just a surprise that she comes back home so willingly because I suspect she get spoilt rotten when staying with her (as did Harry before!)

We flew over Cuba on Monday en route to Jamaica where a very very slight tremor felt by some. We only knew as our holiday companions daughter contacted us to ask if all was well!
Now sitting by pool with Bob Marley..........the cocktail not the singer.

I had a particular soft spot for Dexter. He was very aloof a lot of the time, but sometimes very mischievous. A very smart dog, and I swear he had a sense of humour. The stories I could tell
When Bunty died, it was expected as she had quite a few ailments and was getting on a bit (16), but Dexter dying really knocked me for six, I cried for days. I don’t want that again. 0 -
We have said with our last two collies ,when it comes to the end for them we could not go through that again, but within two years the upside of having a loyal member of the family wins hands down the "inconveniace"? that they may at times bring with them, but number three is at the moment "asleep?" after her meal, in the middle of the c/van ,in such a position that she will be up the second we move to the door to see some of our friends who are on site here with us ,expecting a treat

Yes, sounding good M. That’s a nice offer from the owners. Mbitch’s owner held onto her until we got back off holiday, gave us more time to introduce them so she wasn’t stressed out. Rdog was a different matter. We still had Poppy our elderly Airedale when we decided to take him on. He was a rampant, 8 month hooligan (see avatar), had been kept in a kennel outside for three months, although he was well looked after and house trained. We got him Tuesday night, took him and Poppy walks on the Wednesday, Thursday he was thrown into back of Jeep and we did Cornwall in one go! He absolutely adored Poppy, who stood no nonsense from him, but taught him a lot. I still have a short rather marvellous little video of his first trip to a beach. His brain just exploded like doggy brain’s do occasionally and he went crackers running around. He was however, very well trained, so he did come back, sit etc.....but the utter joy on his face when he hit the beach was priceless. Every dog deserves to visit a beach as far as I am concerned, they just love it. All our dogs have loved travelling and touring in vans and MH.
Fingers crossed for you🤞

NTH - I hope the owls are calling for you at New Willow Cottage. We booked a pitch in March last week and Karen said they’d put a lot of bird boxes and feeders up.
Brue & Mousley good luck with the new arrivals. I hope all goes to plan.
We’re still “decorating” and furniture building so the caravan has stayed in storage for longer than usual.
