Just seen your news brue. Hope you are feeling better. Good news that you have a dog again.

You never really get over losing one. All you can do is treasure the memories. It will be a year in March since we lost Millie. That was out of the blue, no time to prepare. Still very raw.

Rdog goes everywhere with us nowadays. He was 10 last week, the brain is still crackers but the legs are no longer able to do the mad thing anymore. He spent this afternoon chilled out under the table at a very nice pub, as we treat ourselves to a nice lunch. He’s gardening hopefully tomorrow......😁

I bet you have! No way I could have been a teacher, especially in a secondary school. Although it can no doubt be rewarding, I take my hat off to anyone who can put up with adolescent kids.

We've not heard the owls yet, unlike Priestfield Grange where they were calling from 5:00 each evening. You will see a bit of a difference behind the site as the Drainage Board have been at work!! I spotted a Blue Tit investigating one of the new bird boxes this morning. Enjoy your stay here in March.

    Avoided a scam today.

I tried to buy a CD from an independent online retailer but they didn't have the one I wanted and it was a limited print so I ordered it from Amazon as they had 2 left. Now, we don't have Prime but the package was available for free postage. I made sure I wasn't signing up for it either and the package arrived today at lunchtime.

4 hours later we had a phone call stating that Amazon was glad we had signed up but needed to check a few things. Mrs WN said we didn't want it and man asked her to login to Amazon and they would sort it. Oh yeah we thought. We do not give anyone access to our computer so call was soon terminated by us.

I checked some time later and we hadn't been signed up at all.

So fraudsters either knew from Amazon that package had been sent or from delivery people.

Be aware people. I'm sure our members are too savvy to fall for this but forewarned etc.

The Amazon Prime scam calls are doing the rounds at the moment, and that is purely coincidental.

On Rip Off Britain last week there was an item about it, and we have had about half a dozen calls in the last week.  It's an automated call, female American voice, about Amazon Prime.

We hardly ever use Amazon, and always hang up, that's if we pick up in the first place, because if we see a number we don't recognise, we don't always answer.

    Thanks Ina.

Don't watch a great deal of TV so unaware. Just assumed that parcel delivery followed by phone call wasn't a coincidence. This one was a Chinese voice followed by an Indian one.

We don't use Amazon a lot preferring to deal with small independents if we can but sometimes needs must and I must admit their delivery is usually fast.

Small spanner in the works at DD's house regarding the flooring in the utility room.  The underlay she had chosen for the flooring turned out to be unsuitable for the LVT she had ordered, so we have to lay a much thinner underlay over plywood to cover the uneven floor......more expense, and a lot more work unfortunately!

She now has 7 large sheets of plywood cluttering the hallway, so I need to get started cutting and installing it tomorrow, not looking forward to that.   frown

Can understand that; we haven't had a Chinese voice, every call we've had has been an American female voice.  But I suppose they do vary.

Agree with you, when we've used Amazon it has been very good.

I got the Amazon Yank this morning --  they never seem to learn, do they ?  I always answer the phone with the last three numbers and by the time I've finished they are well into their shpeil without knowing to whom they are talking.  I've even given up trying to educate them in the subtle nuances of English Gutter Speak !

Now I'm going to re-apply myself to the several different sections of the " Puppy Saga " -- I do like a good story before bed  smile

I am not sad that we are leaving but I am rather sad that the changes over the years has lead to this.

I can’t help but feel it’s a retrograde step. I find this rise in nationalism disturbing.

I too have had lots of the american voice phone calls saying she is calling about my Amazon Prime account. Always the same voice and recorded message. I have a feeling that WN's message is a different scam. I supoose it makes a change from the calls telling me that my BT line is going to be disconnected or that £600 has been taken out of my bank account.

I love Europe, indeed in my lifetime I have lived in Continental countries for close on 15 years.  The fact is that its not the countries but the institutions I have little time for.  If thats a nationalist approach then I make no excuse for it. Roll on May when I will be over there again

PS I know this will be taken down

The country making the most noise about us leaving is the same one that kept blocking our entry in the first place surprised

We had a different scam email from 'virginmedia' only this morning saying our last payment had failed and our services would be cut off on Monday.
