What are you all up to

We noted the same at Seacroft there were more motor caravans than caravans , there was always a queue at the bus stops or people from site walking into and from Cromer
Never saw any motor caravans in the Lidl store car park,
which is out of town without transport link

Horrible damp misty day. Not so good for what's happening - BBC North West Tonight are coming after dinner to do some filming and staying to do a live link during the programme. We are one of three farms followed throughout the year. There's not much interesting stuff happenning at the moment, so I think the plan is to go down to the wood and beck and look at our wildlife camera (otters etc).
It may all change is there's some better "Breaking News". I will be keeping well away.

Even with a caravan at Seacroft I would use the Coast Hopper bus service for travelling as it stops at most towns, villages and bird reserves. If you go to most CL’s in North Norfolk in the winter you will probably find more caravans than MH

Had 5 nights at Meathop Fell spanning the weekend and the majority of units were caravans. Then again it's not on public transport routes. Having said that there were only 10 units on site on Thursday. About 25 over the weekend. They really should offer a discount to try to attract some custom.
Booked our CL for the March ferry today. Hooray. It was a beautiful sunny morning here. We drove to Helsby, near Frodsham, for a lunch date with my cousin and her husband. Had a really good laugh and meet up. Food was good as usual and staff were brilliant.
Has anyone seen Cats, the film? Mrs WN and MiL are going tomorrow night and Mrs WN is going under sufferance. Do I need to tell her to wear earplugs? She's thinking of downloading an app of dogs barking and accidentally let it off if the "Caterwauling" gets too much.
Hope the eyes are improving Brue.

The most difficult bit of the tiling in DD's utility room, as it includes 4 double sockets/switch plates with big cut outs in the tiles, is now complete, only managed to break one tile in the process. Lots of corners still to do so lots of tile trim still to fit, but at least the tile cuts will be easy.
Came home early today as we seem to be passing yet another bug around the family. Little Callum was poorly overnight on Monday, upset tum, but fine again on the Tuesday morning. Then on Wednesday morning we arrived to find DD off work and in bed, laid low by similar symptoms. A bit better today so working from home, but still not 100%.
Her FIL now seems to have the bug, and is quite bad, and we came home early as I am not feeling 100% now. I plan to go to bed to rest and keep away from OH as the last thing she needs is to catch a bug when she is scheduled for her cataract op on Tuesday.

York RP was around 90% MH to 10% caravans when we were there earlier this month. Of course it’s a great site for both choices just to park up and walk. Lots of small MHs were doing the out for the day thing though, probably heading out of City to places like Castle Howard which is only 15 minutes up A64.
We thought we were seeing things tonight when out dog walking. Dark but clear skies, lots of stars out. Then.......a straight line row of around a dozen satellites all in a line heading across sky. Never seen anything like it. Google of course is one’s friend. Not invaders,😱 but Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites. Very interesting, although I am not a fan of the Musk Rat.

Glad that you got your CL booked for your trip "over there", WN.
Most interesting spot, Tda. Wish I'd seen that.
And her fine dry day, but no sunshine to speak of. We did a 9 ml walk from Bolton Bridge along both sides of the R.Wharfe as far as the Aqueduct Bridge. This is our last night here before we head down to Old Brampton.

Might see if we can spot them again tomorrow, they were over South Yorks area, heading North East, at 6.30pm. Looks like we just caught the tail end Charlie’s, there are dozens of them chugging along in a row.

Why would anyone want to go to Lidl when there is a very good Morrisons Supermarket in Cromer which has a far better selection than any Lidl I have been in and a shortish walk from the bus stop?
0 -
Gald to hear you're perking up again, K, I'm gently resting now having been for a stroll into the Bank to sort out my blooming credit card
. The blithering thing has decided it will allow me to buy fuel but won't work inside the supermarkets proper, very annoying. So I've got a 5-day wait approximately for the replacement to arrive and an appointment with them on Monday to sort out and reorganise my various accounts { or so they think !! }. Still the stroll allowed me to collect my Meds from the f-f-pharmacy on the way home saving a trip out there
Tis a grey miserable looking day in South Cheshire although it's definitely not cold so I hope you all are getting your exercise before the rains arrive

This weeks plans went awry and Mr Brue has been in charge of just about everything including catering, which I think has now reached it's zenith, nadir or possibly rock bottom?!
But onwards and upwards and today I've watched the field behind us being ploughed, the giant silvery plough is a sight to behold, good to see it has finally been able to go out too. The knock on effect is lots of birds and our garden is full of feathery visitors...but will they vanish for the big birdwatch???
Good to hear KJ is feeling better. ABM that card business sounds v frustrating, everything goes well till it stops doesn't it and then it's just plain annoying.
Hope those away are enjoying their hols....hope WN gets the van sorted but at least you got away, I've been enjoying hearing about all the walks.

Bit of a grey day today, not raining but not sunny like we have had in the previous days.
Ironing done this morning and then sorting out clothes ready for our up coming cruise and Rome stay. Strange packing clothes and them not being shorts, crops or T shirts.
Hoping the horrible weather that has been in the Med will have all blown away by next week, don't fancy being on board a cruise ship in what they've had this week. Dry and sunny will do hoping for temps around 15/16c.
OH gone to visit his Mum this afternoon and then pop into Asda for a few bits and pieces, I decided I wanted time to do a few things here.
Back sore today after yesterdays marathon, of cleaning house windows and then helping OH do the 2 cars and the caravan phew! couldn't waste the nice weather as it was mild as well as sunny.
Next door neighbours (through the wall) have gone to Poland for the weekend with friends, looking forward to not getting woken up at 07.20 as happens when they are here. Its not the kids to blame but Mum, she seems to have a fetish for door and draw slamming
Dad leaves the house at 06.30 without a sound
Anyone out and about this weekend hope you have a good time and the weather is good for you. Take care and drive safely.

A lot of different things happened today. Started off by doing a food shop. Noticed that the local Homebase is closing and a sale on. So we returned after shopping as I needed some things anyway. Packed!!!
Back home and finally got around to washing the weekends mud off the car. Could have done with having some Spinach first.
Lunch and then had an hour in the garden including sorting out the birds feeding stations as we needed a re-jig. Finally a chance for a bit of a rest but some workmen appeared and decided that the 3 telegraph posts nearest to us needed replacing. Had to move the caravan out of harms way.
Then, finally, a chance to sit down and tackle the cryptic crossword. Nope, a car drew up and out popped my former business partner who was passing our way and decided to have a catch up. 2 hours later and breathe....
Decided I would try the crossword in bed.
Where did the day go?

We are losing our Homebase as well sadly. It was a B&Q, then a Bunnings, then a Homebase. I found some bargains, but it leaves us with only Wickes now for DIY stuff locally, or smaller but slightly dearer options.
Similar sort of day to you WN, a big trip to recycle centre, then sort of pottering. Have confirmed a meet up though!😁

Another dry day with some sunshine as we travelled down to Derbyshire, although it had clouded up by the time we arrived. Easy drive and We were set up before 1:00. Gentle walk down to local church and found that the locals have converted a now unused telephone booth into a book swap repository. Managed to find a couple of books so back tomorrow with our swaps.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better, kjell, and that you can we thing much clearer, brue.
TG our next door neighbour is very much like yours except it's the man that's a door banger. He also likes to run his motorbike for ages before setting off on it. Fortunately he is quiet when going to work at 6:45 am. It is good to be away from all that just the same.

Brue,
The credit card difficulty is not too annoying for me 'cos I always say that "Check-out Time" is the best part of shopping since I've got the goods AND, for a few more moments, the money as well !! It can be aggravating tho' for the rest of the folks in the queue waiting for me to trawl thro' my tightly packed wallet*** looking for the blooming Debit card - that's the one that grows roots and hides in the very remotest corners !!
*** Little money but cards, cards and more cards ranging from OAP Bus pass to B & Q Club card via library card , Caravan Club, R S P B , Green Flag etc etc etc plus the copy of Driving licence, insurance ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,

Was going to take off in the van this weekend as I have a hospital appointment for a biopsy on Wednesday, still will hopefully get away next weekend.
Our Homebase closed a few years ago. Tomorrow our large Coop store closes and will reopen as another Morrison’s. For a smallish but growing town we will have 2 Morrison’s
All those not feeling good get well soon. Anyone travelling hope the weather stays ok for you

We still use a very nice local DIY business, try and support small shops if we can.
Best wishes to those not too well.

A ) Very Best Wishes for the Biopsy, OP
B ) I get confused with these various store closures! In Crewe we have B & Q , Wickes, Toolstation, Screwfix plus various sellers of building supplies. Around the usual retail parks there are pound shops of various names ( seem to change titles every 6 months !! ) Where the heck do their customers come from ??

All the best for the biopsy OP

Very best wishes OP, hope it all goes well next week.
Talking of shops our town will be very changed if Beales closes down although M&S has survived so far. We lost our Home Base awhile back, recently the Range group set up there. We still have B&Q, Wickes etc. If I'm in Crewkerne I visit the nice old Ironmongers/DIY shop, an Aladdin's Cave! The original one inspired Ronnie Barker and his 4 candles.
OH is off out to see Steve Knightley this evening, an xmas present from one of the family.
Other than that I've counted a lot of birds and think this is a better year for us, possibly the milder weather?
0 -
I'm envious of your OH's Steve Knightley gig. We've seen him a lot on his own (as well as with Show of Hands and duos with Phil Beer), but this tour is not coming near enough for us to go (without staying over).
Maybe next time!
And we also have a Beales. It's gone through various owners in the years I've shopped there. They had wonderful sales back in the 70's. I remember queueing outside to buy a pram and cot in 1972. And the wonderful haberdashery section.

Beales had some shops in quite small places, I remember seeing one in Beccles last year so closure will probably have a bigger impact on the smaller towns than the larger where there might be an alternative. Even here in MK we are losing the House of Fraser store after 40 years. That will leave JL and Debenhams but I wonder how secure the latter is? This is not the first time there has been a shakeout of such stores, think back to the sixties in London and names like Derry and Toms, Gamages, Marshall and Snellgrove and Whitleys.
