Thanks for the kind thoughts expressed about Paul's accident. He stayed with us today as Marisa had to go to London. He is still in a lot of pain understandably so and is taking a bucket load of pain killers. His appetite seems quite good which I suppose is a good sign. He is finding it difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in but Margaret has one of those upside down V shaped pillows which she gave him and that helped. Early days yet but he seemed a bit brighter after a sleep and a meal tonight.

Had a typical 'Tuesday ' morning visit to Aged Sister.Dropped off the mags from the w/end papers ( Better in her bin than mine  wink ) but she was making error after error in her knitting and she's got a whole ear and a half on her mobile & landline phones.  All because her g/daughter over in Cambourne is now four days over due.  Really don't understand this great interest in such dates -- why would 'he' want to be out here in the cold and being disturbed by every second passerby undecided??

Still managed to get myself into M & S for a ready meal or three, so now I'm all set up for a few days cowering indoors from the cold and frosty mornings.  And what happens  ??  The met office says its going to warm up  Just can't trust ANYBODY these days grrrrrrrrr.yell

    Seriously though,

Hope all involved in accidents  are getting over the physical human damage suffered - aches and pains can take a while to surface even if medicines are taken.  Trust the vehicular damage gets the full blessing of the relevant policies without quibbling.

Ah no........I was just thinking about the future. Strange only having the one pooch around, but his needs are full on at the moment, so we have decided it wouldn’t be fair to get a pup. Life would be very awkward with one who can’t walk far and a second that would need four-five walks a day, not matter how much we would like a second dog.

    Doesn't stop me wanting though.........🤔🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾😁

And the same from me too HD.

Hope that all those that have hospital appointments get the results they want, and those that have been involved in recent accidents are well on the way to a full recovery.

After another night of heavy frost we woke to a dull day, a little above freezing but still cold. Two more appointments out of the way, with a visit to the bank and then the hairdresser for OH. Cloudier this evening so hopefully we won't have any frost through the night.

Good news HD.  I do hope your OH's recovery goes well and you dont find it too taxing.

Very frosty morning here today. My car windows were frozen on the inside as well as the outside! Surprisingly the cathedral was quite warm. We were  'promised' a visit by Nigel Farage this afternoon but luckily I escaped!

Glad to hear you have “the boss” home HD

When we got home this afternoon the house was freezing so we put the heating on and the fire and it took ages to heat up. Decided we will leave the heating on overnight as it looks frosty again outside drained down all the tanks in the van when we got back this afternoon just to be on the safe side.

Our village has just gone over to LED's they are not liked at all. Folk complaining the light is not so good.

They shine down not outwards as before so the area they cover is less.

I know round our house is now very dark, putting the bins out now has to be done before dark or with the aid of a torch.

Pavements are darker and as our village is predominantly elderly I don't think it will be long before there is an accident.

We had -4 degrees overnight and it has been bitterly cold here all day, hopefully it will warm up a little soon.

I spent part  of the day crawling around and lying under the floors in DDs house, connecting up all the various cables needed to move the sockets to where she wanted them, and trying to find a point to connect the new radiator to the central heating.  The rest of the time was spent fitting plasterboard to the new bit of wall and making everything ready for plastering.

The way the foundations have been laid out, there is no access from the the utility room to the rest of that end of the house, so I will need to look elsewhere for heating pipes to connect to, or find a hole somewhere to get pipes through and use one of the other access hatches to get to that end of the house.

Plasterers MAY come this week, so it looks like I will soon have time to go and fit the new tap at our sons house.  Not looking forward to that as the access to the pipes looks very tight.  No doubt it will involve me lying on the floor....again!

Oh KjellNN your posts make me smile. You're so good with your DIY and helping out the family, but your current jobs dont sound so pleasant on many levels. Do you have a retirement date in mind? 😉😂

We have had LED street lights in our road for several years now, other roads are still the old style. Personally I like them but we do have lots of them! They are bright, not one outside our house but up and opposite they have had a shield  put behind the lamp to stop in going into their windows. Our street lights are turned off between 1-5 am as well.

Jolly chilly again this morning but not as much frost, hoping the sun will break through, it's trying hard, before we head off for meander in the local park and the dog can have a free run. (She's in my bad books this morning 😤 wouldn't stop barking at 'normal' noises whilst in the garden and wouldn't come in when called 🤔 doesnt like being given the cold shoulder!)

Glad the cathedral struck warm yesterday and what a lucky escape you had. He's not visited our city but we've had others, so lucky not to be in a confined space 😂😂. Make of that what you will 😉

Huskydog glad to hear your wife is home, no more living by visiting hours. However, do make sure that standards don't slip whilst multitasking..........

    Enjoy your day folks.

We have had LED street lights in our road

If you have solar panels on a LV those lights provide plenty of charge in the twilight hours

    Wow that's a win situation.

We dont have solar panels and even if we did they'd be in the opposite side to the street lights. Those folks on the opposite side of the road with them will benefit. Do you benefit?

Problem we and others have with the new LED lights is the way they are set, they light the roads fine but the pavements are not.

So when walking around the village at night its a bit dodgy, our house is set back from the road and the residents car park off the road is now very dark, not ideal as we can no longer see if anyone is lurking.

Knowing our council I very much doubt they will install more lights frown

Frosty overnight here but brightening up, still cloudy but dry. Few jobs to be done around the van first then off out.

Filling in time 'tween loading the washing machine and then the tumble drier.  Could put the washing out but I doubt it would dry much, 'cos although its not f f freezing this morning there is a bitter wind blowing thro' South Cheshire so I'm leaving the outside for the tweets to enjoy !! All feeders filled, peanuts freshly ground but sadly I no longer use Suet slabs or balls due to the crumbs attracting vermin. We've decided if we go a month without seeing evidence of them I may start using them again. I suppose I could borrow a couple of Jack Russells for a while tho'  undecided.

I trust you all are getting sufficient clear sunny times to keep the solar panels working even if the LEDs are in the wrong place!

It was good to hear DSB is back to his best & doing all those pre Christmas Chores he ends up with laughing  The benefits of eating & resting regularlywink !

Hope all you suffering body or mechanical damage are feeling better & getting about steadily.

    Take Care everybody Bieeee

Pesky hound is taking far too much interest in the new hedging.......I had to use some bonemeal (don’t like the stuff but we want the hedging to do well) and he had obviously got a sniff. No damage, other than too much mud trailed into house. Had it been the Airedales, the whole hedge would have been up, and no doubt most of it brought into the house to play with........😱

I think we are going to need to fence in the fence.......

A couple of the lamp posts on our little estate have been changed to LED but the majority are the original sodium lights. I agree with others the LED lights don't have a very good spread of light. On the main grid roads in MK the council have spent a fortune on replacing all the lamp standards and converting them to LED. At home we live on a corner so I make sure we have plenty of external light at both front and back.

Last night here at Sandringham, we've had good weather and a good time here so in the words of Arnie 'we will be back'  laughing

Off to Clumber tomorrow just for 2 nights, meeting up with my sister, BIL and my cousin. Worksop is where Mum was born and brought up until she was 40, most of her family were buried there including her Mum and Dad. In her later years all she wanted to do was go 'home'  so we are sprinkling the rest of her ashes there.

Saturday we are off to see our youngest son and family for a couple of days, then we will have to head home as we both have appointments.

A day of visiting the place where FiL's ashes are spread for us today. Over to Rivington near Horwich including a visit to Mrs.WNs uncle and aunt in Radcliffe and then to a lovely Italian cafe/restaurant for a bite to eat en route to Rivington. A rather tiring day.

Have to be up fairly smartish in the morning as well as its a visit to the Killer Driller.

Glad that you've had good weather at Sandringham, TG. Have a safe trip tomorrow.

Another set of appointments done today. We were both at the opticians and surprise, surprise we came away without having to get new glasses. My sight has not changed over the last couple of years and OH's, although a little worse, it not deteriorated enough for her to require a change in her glasses prescription.

We'd ordered a new C/D Player/Radio Alarm on Monday from Amazon with a promised delivery on Thursday/Friday....the delivery guy was here at 9:30 this morning with it!! It was fortunate that we had not yet headed down to town.

Retirement?  Been there, got the T-shirt, and am now back in the overalls!
It keeps me busy B2 and the little grey cells active, but there are indeed some things, like crawling under floors, that I would prefer not to do, but in this case there is no alternative.  At least there is plenty of space down there.

Plasterers came yesterday for a look, and as it is only a small job they will return after their other job today, so the walls will need a couple of days to dry out before any painting can be done.  Meantime I am carrying on with odds and ends here, and will probably go to deepest darkest  East Ayrshire over the weekend to install that tap.

Will be nice to see our other grandchildren, and we have Advent Calendars to take to them too.
