Or as WN suggests M4,M25, M11 and A11
Fine day here so tried out new walking shoes along river and down to the beach

Thanks both for the route suggestions, I think we're always looking for the magic golden route to the east! This time we'll do a stop over at Ashwell via the dreaded M3/M25 (we're near the A303 our end) and then onwards. Sometimes we go via Newbury and Oxford etc.
Hope you've all had a good day, we had friends here earlier so a nice chat over coffee.

If going to Ashwell, after the M25 use A1/A1M and come off on to the A505 towards Royston follow handbook instructions for the site as the first sign for Ashwell brings you down a narrow lane with a sharp tight right turn in the middle of the village high street
from Ashwell it is a fairly straight forward route to Norfolk depending on your destination,
Ps if you are not in a hurry a great but long day would be at the IWM at Duxford

Two more days of mixed weather. Yesterday we managed a short walk alongside R Swale before heading into Richmond for a wander around...Castle was closed, but we knew that before heading there. Today we drove round past Aysgarth Falls and then had a walk up onto the cells above Carperby, getting back to the car just before the rain came. Then up to Bolton Castle....closed!!.....and into Leyburn and a visit to the deli for a few choice bits. More rain when we got back to the van. Last night here before we head over to Clapham tomorrow.

We used the Ashwell site on our last trip, really liked it but only an overnight this time. I booked Seacroft a while ago hoping to head off to a CL too but now it's just a few days at Seacroft and then a turn for a home via Oxford, a short break but looking forward to it.
Will try and look at some birds/wildlife this time, any suggestions for the best places or reserves to view, we can take the M/H off site for the day.

Cley will be nearer for you Brue but if not a member then it will cost you £5 to get in. Mind you quite a bit of the reserve can be seen from the public footpaths around it. Titchwell is nearer to Hunstanton but is RSPB so it will be free for you. As OP says there is room at both for MHs.
Shopping this morning then booking the ferries for next years sojourn. Hope to do Plan A from this year and head off to do some bird migration watching in Northern Spain coming back via France. Fingers now firmly crossed for no interruptions to plans.

Just to note Titchwell is rspb so free to cc members for parking Cley is Norfolk wildlife trust parking is free (use overflow for MCs )but you need to be a member or £5for reserve unless useing near by public footpaths
If you do not want to take MC of site the coasthopper bus hourly from out site Seacroft will stop at Cley lookout and cafe (tell the driver as it is there before you know it,then catch another one that will take you to Wells next the Sea for fish and chips, then return to Seacroft

As you say car parking is free at Cley. You don’t need to pay to use the cafe either and you don’t need to pay to walk around the paths that surround the reserve. You only need to pay to use the hides and sometimes the beach car park, weekends only at this time of the year I think.

Thanks for the suggestions, hope to get to one or the other, will make a decision when on site!
Nice weather here today, had a wander round Montacute but a Turkey and Tinsel coach had arrived en route for a local hotel and there were a lot of people ambling around.
Off to hear a talk tonight, garden pruning part 2, what an exciting life we lead!

Arrived at Devises no dramas 14.00, would have been here at 13.00 if we hadn't took the word of the warden at Malvern, who said it was only an hours drive
never mind we missed the rush
Nice site, very very wet. Site manager said they had terrible rain last night, big plea to not drive on grass as its so bad he said we would be there for days
Nice sunshine on and off kind of day, warm in sun, chilly out.
Went for a walk along the canal after setting up. We turned right so going towards bath, lots of canal boats moored up along the canal and even saw one on the water
provided its dry tomorrow we hope to get the cycles out the car and go into town along the canal.

Hope you like the Devizes site TG, we keep meaning to try it but we know the area so we don't make the effort! If it's not too far on the bikes, Bradford on Avon is a nice town to visit too.
PS I think Caen Locks would put me off taking a barge holiday.

Chucking it down all afternoon so decided to sort out the House Insurance and the one for the Caravan. Managed to get a 10% discount on each one so very happy, particularly with the caravan one bearing in mind insurers settled a total loss claim this year. Renewed and out of the way for another year.
We enjoyed the Devizes area as well. Mrs WN decided to do a drawing of the Caen Locks. I think it took her as long to do it as it does to navigate them.

Fun and games here all day in South Yorks. It’s been torrential rain all day, flooding everywhere, abandoned vehicles all over, and Meadow Hall shopping Centre is a lock in! All the surrounding roads are flooded, so police are advising folks to stay put in Centre. It’s getting to be like 2007 all over again, more to come yet as well. Batten down the hatches!😱

A trying day.
Aga was out this morning - probably problem with the flue. OH to sort out tomorrow (too busy with stock today).
Washer making ominous clanking sound on final spin. Bearing gone? OH to investigate tomorrow.
Computer program I use for the farm business throwing up worrying error. Emailed Help Desk. Reply this evening, with suggestions. I’ll try tomorrow.
Phone not beeping (or displaying) notifications for messages. Online search suggests it’s a known problem. Putting up with it for now.
Temporary solution to all of this - large G & T

Yes, it was certainly wet last night around here!
There is a really good antiques market in Devizes, but not sure if it's open on Fridays, TG. The Wadworths brewery tour is an interesting hour or so if you like that sort of thing (oops, sorry, DD!
). You'll be going past Caen Hill locks as well which is a great sight if there are any boats going through. Forecast for tomorrow is good, Saturday dire then Sunday better again. How long are you stopping for?

We too have had "some" rain but not as bad as other parts of Yorkshire. Managed to get packed up and away without getting too wet, easy but slow drive over to Clapham because of the amount of water on the roads.Dry when we got to site but I got rather wet again filing the aquarolls.
It's much more windy over here than it was in Wensleydale.

Reasonable day here, but forecast for the weekend is poor.
Made a start on stripping out DD's utility room, we are tackling one side of the room at a time, leaving the sink area till last. OH emptied the last of the cupboards and put stuff in boxes or on shelves in the adjacent store room as DD had paid work to do, she reckons it will be a while before they find everything again!
Units are in good condition so were offered to our son for garage storage, but he does not want them, so they will go on Gumtree and Freecycle.

Might even be a challenge on an electric bike!!! The Caen flight is certainly a wonder of canal engineering.
TG the Plough in not far from the site is a nice place to have lunch.

Yes, I think most of SY is affected. Good luck for tomorrow, I would check your route, I think part of A1 is or was closed. Supposed to peak overnight, then get a bit better hopefully.

Dreadful weather here for most of the day but although the fields are waterlogged no flooding so far .......

Crikey, it’s bad here. We have just been on a rescue mission to fetch our neighbours who were stranded at Meadowhall. All routes in blocked, water is 6ft deep, in places. Their car is one of dozens full of water, the speed of the river rising is incredible. Police wouldn’t let us near, they had to walk up to us. It’s bad, blue lights all over the place rescuing folks.

A glorious sunny, but cold, day here. It’s hard to imagine the weather in the East.
Its our monthly weekend off and we’ve plans for all of it. Tonight we’re staying with friends about 10 miles away. Sleeping in! Then tomorrow we’re treating ourselves to a posh Afternoon Tea in Grasmere (using money I won in the village £200 club draw). Then dawdling up via Keswick to Carlisle for a Martyn Joseph gig and a night in a Premier Inn. Another sleep in!
But first, a full day of farming and maybe fixing stuff that has gone on strike/broken down.

Enjoy your trip Oneputt, we're over there later in the month. Hope you're having better weather in your area TDA, sorry to see so much flooding.
We're sunny and dry here but it's cold and we had the first forecasts for snow and sleet yesterday. It seemed to warm up slightly overnight so the expected frost turned into early fog. Winter is on the way!
Hope Goldie and OH have a nice break from work too, don't eat too many cakes!
