Thoughts are with you, and hopes for a full recovery David, it can be very serious. Poor little thing. You get by on adrenalin worrying at times like this, but look after yourselves as well.

Wherenext I can't understand the economics of frozen prawns, they are labelled in a similar way to those mackerel. We dont have an individual fishmonger but 2 Tesco stores in town, yes we have 2 large stores plus Express ones!, and Sainsburys have fishmongers in store.

Tammygirl sounds like a good day after all. We loved the Devixzes site, plenty of walking and cycling, and sitting watching the locks. Safe onward journey to Brighton plus an enjoyable visit. Where are you pitching up?

Need to phone trip company as I haven't had confirmation email of panto booking 😤. Online booking is relatively new for them, I've not used it before.

Moved both hedgehog houses, not far but to more sheltered area, put in extra hay too in case they want to rest up. When I checked at 8pm both still had all the food, normally some if not all gone by then, left a trial to new locations, will check again soon and maybe move them halfway for the time being. Be really great trip hazard in one case 😂😂.

Anyone else watching His Dark Materials? Not a bad adaption so far in my opinion.

😀 just checked on hedgehog houses, both have occupants snuggled up 😀. No need to panic! They've been snuggled in on several occasions but never there in the morning, but then it hasn't been as cold generally.

    Night folks sleep tight.

    DAVID, DSB

Glad things are looking up for the pup, always worrying when family pets are ill.

Now for YOU !!   I'm of an age when I have learned the hard way to look after myself. I ( you ) have to take regular food and drink, if I ( you ) intend to fulfill  my ( your ) commitments.  Please, remember it's only the start of November, if you carry on you'll be in a right tired and hungry state by New Year.

Don't fret about us on here --> get your food and rest  or I'll come round there  and slap your leggies  wink

Then we noticed that they were caught in the North Atlantic but then shipped all the way to China to be prepared and packaged and then sent back here. The economics of it baffle me. Are we incapable of doing the job? This is without taking into account the damage to the climate etc. Couldn't quite get over it. We left them there.

Aren't most of the prawns we eat processed in Vietnam, or somewhere in that part of the world? Whilst it does seem odd that they come halfway round the world I expect if they were processed in the UK you would be paying a lot more for them. Generally the whole point of buying frozen, apart from the convenience, is that things are generally cheaper. Fresh mackerel on the other hand are very reasonably priced!

Thanks ABM, Bakers2 and Takethedogalong.  It's just that I've had a particularly bad few days - it's not normally this bad.  I could do with losing a few pounds!  laughing  I'll have to get the Snowdonia Cheese out!! Hopefully we'll have a bit more normality this week.  Just off to take the dog to the vet.... she had a comfortable night (the dog laughinglaughinglaughing)

David, the quoted passage was from my post which actually related to Mackerel being caught in the North Atlantic then shipped all the way to China and then shipped all the way back again. I fully understand why the Prawns, usually farmed, are handled and processed in Asia as that is where they come from. That was Bakers post.

I also agree that fresh Mackerel is preferable but our nearest fishmonger is 14 miles away. I don't count  most supermarket "fishmongers"  because they are nothing more than packagers of defrosted fish. I am not normally one for using frozen products preferring fresh very time but this was something I might have contemplated.

Had a strange out of the blue letter today from a financial institution about an account that my former company had with them asking me to get in touch with them about it. So I called in to the local branch to make sure the telephone number given did actually belong to that company and then gave them a call. The account is dormant and they were closing it. Did I want the balance? As I have had no dealings with said account or my old company in the last 18 years I politely declined. Could I authorise giving it to charity. Knowing the 2 directors left they wouldn't be short of £7.58 so MacMillan had it. Just a strange experience. One immediately thinks fraud these days.

Had a text from the surgery for an appointment tomorrow so packed up and left the site a day early.  Throwing it down with rain ☔️ all the way home.  New car towed better than I expected.

Our children on parade were a credit to their parents at the remembrance service.  We visited the war memorial this morning after the children in the local school had been and left their home made poppies and wreaths with poems and words of remembrance.  As ex military it’s gratifying to know that 100 years on from the first Remembrance Day that our young people will continue to honour our war dead.  Brings a tear to my eyes.

Another nice day smile that's 2 in a row.

Arrrived at Brighton site 2pm, big site going up a hill with little areas going off the main site road. 2 facilities blocks, but 1 out of commission on Wednesday and the top part of the site (same area) out of ehu for the majority of thursday. We've only been on 2 C&MC sites so far and both of them have had a day without ehu. Wifi here is useless, we are within feet of the mast, strong signal but fails to connect yell so having to use mifi.

The 3 C&CC sites we've been on have had great wifi, free internet not just their own website. If they can do it why is this club do rubbish.

Off out tomorrow to explore smile

We all stood still at 11am in town today and once more our family member played the Last Post in another local town. It was a very noticeable silence.

I've been catching up on posts, do hope the DSB family see their little dog getting better by the day.

    Hope you enjoy Brighton TG.

Don't know a lot about what goes on with fish nowadays WN. I used to see a lot of fresh fish in Cornwall when I lived there. We are lucky locally and can buy fresh Dorset fish. When we lived in Scotland we knew people who were developing fish farming, I know it feeds people but prefer not to eat farmed fish. That said I bought some pickled herring today, I hope it came from the north Atlantic but I didn't check...frown

Sadly we don't have a 'proper' fishmonger anywhere near us now so have to rely on the supermarket fish counters.  I will check in future to see what their journey has involved. surprised.

I met some friends for a coffee this morning and the whole place went silent at 11.00am.  Even 2 lovely (very) little boys who were there with their Dads were completely silent and still smile

It has been a nice dry and mainly sunny day today, although cold.  OH and I spend a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon and did a lot of cutting back.  After clearing up I had a sort out of my wardrobe.  I have a feeling that rather than clearing stuff I have just moved it from one place to another undecided

David I do hope that your little dog will be OK. Remember to take care of yourself a well.

Sorry to read about your young dog, David. Glad that it had a good night's,sleep and hope that all went well at the vets.

Good to hear that, the new,car towed well, OP. Hope that your appointment goes without a hitch.

After a beautiful day yesterday, when we moved across to Newby Bridge, it rained during the evening and night, but was dry when we got up. Drove up to Ambleside, managed a look around and joined in the 2 mins silence with others in the square opposite Gaynors.  Then the rain came and it has hardly stopped since.

I’m ashamed to say that I missed the two-minutes silence today, although I did observe it yesterday. In mitigation, I was helping my daughter move home. I did say 6 years ago that “I’m not doing this again”, yet here we are again. I’m getting too old for this malarkey. From a second floor flat, to a three storey town house 😓 Still, it’s done now, time for a relaxing glass...or two 🙂

I've had bit of a surreal experience. Last night I was contacted via the Ancestry website by someone helping their friend with their family tree - and asking if the Beatrice she had found was the one in my tree.

So, it transpires that I am now in touch with a cousin I never met - though we lived on the same housing estate in the 1960's. My father's brother and wife divorced and unfortunately my family took sides and I never met his new wife and son. Times have changed!

This divorce caused a lot of bitterness, and consequently I lost touch with other family members. I have tried to reconnect, but after going to a funeral and been sidelined and ignored OH suggested I give up. So it's good to be in touch with someone who I never knew, but wants to find out about our family.

As an only child of an only child (my mother) living relatives are thin on the ground (unlike my husband's).

Been an expensive few days here taxed the Volvo then it went in for its MOT failed on a few minor things but needed tyres too so the bill was fairly high by the time we got it back. The caravan insurance was due so had to pay that and also it is due it’s service near the end of the month why did we think it was a good idea to buy the car and caravan at the same time lol all the insurances ect are due at the same time. Keeping an eye on the weather as we are due to head down to the Lakes nearer the end of the week fingers crossed the weather stays ok as we are looking forward to our trip.

True but I think it works out a bit more expensive doing it that way. I have a classic Mercedes that I just use for car shows and that only gets taxed from May through to the end of October and is garaged all winter its not worth taxing it all year as it is never out in the bad weather lol

It's been an "interesting" last few days!

We had the weekend away with Mrs M's two sisters and OHs - very nice cottage near Stow on the Wold, but it chucked it down all day on Saturday, the cottage was right next to a bridge over the river and at one point it looked in serious danger of overflowing! Sunday was bright and sunny though, so we managed to get one decent walk in. 2 against 1 on the B**x*t front, so managed to avoid that topic! laughing

Got back to discover a small leak from the condensing pipe for the new boiler we had fitted last week - nothing too drastic luckily and the engineer is coming back to fix it (he says!) tomorrow.

Mrs M and Lady started their stint at the primary school working with autistic children and slow readers - seemed to work very well - the SENDCO said one little boy who apparently hardly ever speaks to strangers started as soon as he saw the dog and then they couldn't shut him up! surprised

Went to see Dad at the home when we got back but they'd had a chest infection on his floor so couldn't get to see him anyway. frown

Tried unsuccessfully to get our Caribbean holiday rearranged - no luck there so asked for a complete refund and have now rearranged a completely different trip to South Africa. smile

Oh, and I had a bowls match last night - got well and truly stuffed so just off in a few minutes to see if I can do any better today! smile

Day started bright and sunny, so did a bit if washing. Managed to get it out to dry in the sun and wind. Brought it in the van to air while we went in to Brighton.  Not been out long when it started to rain yell flipping typical.

Came back for car and took a drive along the front instead, can't say Brighton is doing it for me,  I know it's not great weather but just not feeling it,  think we will move on, on Thursday. Not sure where yet.

I've booked our sites for our journey down to portsmouth in April, wouldn't normally bother but its over the easter weekend. How did I manage to do that innocent anyway all sorted 1CL, 1 C&MC, 1 C&CC taking our time due to it being a holiday weekend.

DSB, hope you dog is on the mend, upsetting time when they are poorly.

I'm with you on that one TG. Brighton never did it for me either. Spent quite a few festive breaks there as a former girlfriend lived there before finding her Prince Charming (that was after me obviouslysmile). Never got along with the place.

We've only spent a 2 night break at the site. Am under instructions from the present Mrs WN to find a CL in future, preferably nowhere near Brighton! She doesn't get it either!

Sounds like you'll be heading south through France just as we head north unless you are catching the ferry to Spain.

We visited Brighton a couple of years back during the 'beast from the east'. Not a site I'd want to visit in the summer.

Agree about C&CC wifi. Using it now and it's almost as good as my cable broadband at home.

Visited Cartmel today including the Priory. It's been a long while since we had a walk round the village, although it's relatively close to home. Then , after a walk over and beyond the race course we we t to Grange and had a stroll along the prom. Much better day weatherwise although there was a short shower this evening. Lots of noise at the moment from work being carried out on the A590 just by the turnoff to the site. Hope they complete before we go to bed. Home tomorrow.
