We spent a few nights at the Brighton CAMC site about 10 years back, there were a few interesting things to see, but we would not go again.
More interesting things to see elsewhere on the south coast!
Mixed weather here today, not quite as cold as yesterday, had to cut some timber out in DD's garage, but otherwise mainly indoors. Building an extra bit of wall at one corner of her utility room to make a big enough area to hang a radiator.
One light switch, 8 sockets and oven outlet to be installed/relocated, she wants an extra oven for cake baking and occasional parties, but has no space in the kitchen. Some existing light outlets to be disconnected/made safe then walls to be plastered, not going to be a quick job.

PS My first experience with Brighton involved an interview where I had to take a lot of design work (pre-computer days.) There was so much "stuff" to take a friend helped me transport it from the Midlands via British Rail, a London taxi and a train to Brighton. It involved an overnight stay in a grotty B&B. We successfully got the work back to London, then another taxi and then finally on the home run BR refused to take it. My mother met us at our home station and then had to drive to London in her mini with another friend where they retrieved the work from BR and squashed it all in somehow...my mother was so angry that day my friend who had helped was cowering in the background. The wrath of hard working mothers made to go the extra mile!
(The next interview I found I'd got German measles, I'll draw a veil over that one.)
My cousin lives in Brighton so over the years I've enjoyed it from a more leisurely pace, but it's all too busy for me.

I can only agree brue.....busy...crowded.....difficult and expensive parking.
Got our new tyres fitted on the Touareg today, hopefully they will last us several years and 30000 miles.......should be at least 4, even 5 years.
Next thing will be whether we should fit new tyres on the caravan, existing ones will soon be 6 years old, though still in good condition.

I quite like Brighton. There seems plenty to do there for a few days. It has the advantage that it doesn't rely on the seaside for its survival as a lot of people commute to London each day which supports the local trade. The Royal Pavilion is well worth a visit. It's a easy walk down to the Marina (you can always get the bus back up the hill!!!) from the Club site, especially if you want to eat out as the are many restaurants. You can continue your walk into the centre along the seafront. The Lanes are interesting. It's been a while since we were there, 2013 was the last time. Many moons ago we stayed at the previous Brighton site on the Race Course.

Years ago we arrived at Brighton rail station and there was an tourist info office on the platform and as we needed accommodation we use their service. Paid and got instructions to find the 'hotel'. On the seafront so good start but it quickly went down hill as we were on the top floor with very steep stairs and the room was very small with no en-suite we paid for. The worst part however was that the emergency escape was through a window in our room so the door couldn't be locked. We walked out and found a lovely B&B in one of the squares behind the seafront. Did get my money back and also wrote a damning report. Did stay at the club site about 3 years ago where I met Malcolm M

In the past Brighton used to be very seedy but a lot better now. I think there's plenty to do there and as David says the Royal Pavillion and the Marina etc are worth seeing. So I shouldn't put anyone off seeing it!
A busy day ahead and it's dry outside, better make the best of it!

Huge swan rescue going on here. There are usually dozens and dozens of the lovely birds that live in one of the canal basins near town, always a lovely sight, but following the floods, oil from a damaged barge and abandoned cars has got into basin and clogging feathers up. RSPCA on the job, trying to catch them and clean them up.
Meanwhile, elsewhere local residents are giving certain politicians the cold shoulder!

Interesting to hear folk views on Brighton, agree wouldn't want to be here in high season. Still not doing it for us though, glad we tried it in low season not quite such a waste of money
Wifi still unable to connect even wardens say it rubbish. Dearest site so far
Lots of noise last night from the a joining football stadium, didn't mind the cheering but could have done without the banging drums, what a racket 7 -10pm
Going up to commons wood to visit my brother for a few days next. Then who knows maybe Sandringham
if so will be C&CC site need to recoup some money

My observation of this and other forums is that people seem to either love or hate large towns and cities. They are by and large where our main cultural centres are also a big slice of our history. Personally, which might seem strange to some, I love the hubbub of a City. I love large railway stations, the comings and goings. Although I never worked in London I had to visit regularly, usually at least once a month, and I used to like the energy of the busyness. The idea of sitting on some remote CL somewhere in the countryside, even if the view was stunning, for two weeks would probably bore me. It is also another observation that the sites the Clubs have near large towns and cities are always pretty full.

I'm afraid I don't fall into either category David. I have lived and worked in both Liverpool and Manchester when younger and thoroughly enjoyed both and still like to visit either. This year we called in to see some history in Newcastle and last year Bristol. The year before was London. I do have to say though that I prefer the countryside by a country mile (pun intended). Too much noise and pollution in cities but they are great for history, arts , museums, shows etc. but also expensive. I don't mind the odd visit but am happier in the country.
Yukky day. Literally as I decide that the Extractor hood above the cooker needed a good cleaning. One of those jobs that you are sorry having started as you delved deeper into the workings. I was instructed to remain indoors today as Mrs WN had Xmas parcels arriving and both she and MiL had very important hair appointments in town.
Also instructed not to get any grease on said parcels. Just about managed that.

Lived in some big cities in my time, Hong Kong, Jedda, Hamburg etc., but have to say 24hrs is enough for me, much prefer the countryside.
Bright sunny day here, just right for the solar panels. Been in the garden tidying up this afternoon. Noticed that there are still raspberries ripe for picking so will have them with cream tonight

It matters not ABM as I have to repackage them and tie them up with pretty bows etc.
See how I'm joining in the festive spirit aleady.
Actually I quite like it this way as Mrs WN orders her own stuff from various Art suppliers. I would only make a right Horlicks of it. So that's Mrs WN's Christmas sorted.

Used to love visiting cities when I was younger, but only for a brief visit. York is still nice, as is Exeter. Others it’s to do a specific thing nowadays, much prefer rolling hills, green fields, Moors, seaside.
Out in garden again best part of day, one of our beech trees is clinging on to its leaves as usual, so there’s still an awful lot to come down. Last of bulbs put in, plus a few more in pots to give some Spring colour. I appear to have hundreds of baby Hellebores, will replant some elsewhere. Going to have lots of Delphiniums and Hollyhocks as well this year, seeds doing great in greenhouse. Need to prick them out into pots now..... Shame we cant get some sort of seed/ plant swop set up, I know others love gardening like me.

Well ,it’s been about 3 weeks since I retired, and I’m getting the hang of it
, I’ve been sorting out the shed so I can spend a bit more time on my wood lathe ,and started to clear part of the garden and turn it in to a fruit and veg patch ,going to make some raised beds as the soil is a bit heavy and clay ,so I’m ordering in some top soil , my wife can grow the flowers .but having to share the greenhouse
Tomorrow my wife goes in to hospital to have her hip replacement operation, so I’ve got a few days of peace and quiet

Not a lover of cities, like others much prefer the hills, lakes and countryside. I used to love going to the cities for shopping and mooching around, now we go only when we have to.
DK, don't think I could stay on the same CL for 2 weeks either but then again we don't stay anywhere for 2 weeks.
ABM, haven't seen lots of travellers, there are some MH's parked here and there around Brighton but not lots of travellers. We've seen a few that we suspect are homeless living in rundown commercial vans. There is one on the approach road to the site. That road is diabolical, full of big potholes, cars and council vans parked all along it.
Went for a drive east along the coast, visited beachy head, that was bracing, then onto Eastbourne, had lovely fish and chips
.
The views along the coast road was stunning, looked like lots of work going on along the beach at Seaford. There was huge jcb's with big dumper lorries full of pebbles, seemed strange that they are replenishing the beach now, would have thought after the winter storms makes more sense.
We are in for a stormy night with heavy showers according to the weather folk.
