I have friends who go nowhere but Club sites. They grumble about the prices but carry on.  Although I suggest alternatives to them their loyalty is deep and profound. I think there are many people like them.

Its strange, those who are most vociferous anti commercial sites are those that have not tried them

Just returned from Chester Fair Oaks site, one night, £31.30 !!, I nearly choked on my dentures, It was our first trip out this year, only able to book something last minute.Ok, apparently, our over night stay was classed as still in  the 'High' season, but £31.30 per night (two adults) to stay in my own caravan is ridiculous. The club is in danger of  killing the goose that layed the golden egg. it's easy sometimes to forget that we have also paid a membership fee for the privilege of being charged so much.

Write your comments here...you must have known the price before you arrived it on your conformation so how it can be a shock is beyond me, I do agree that it is high thats why this year we are not staying at the Looe site in Cornwall for 2 week which would have cost us over 400 pounds but are staying at a family run site we have used on and off for the past 26 years. One reason is our sons are grown up and we no longer need the pool etc which is on the looe site. This said its a fantastic site for families and we have had wonderful holidays there. you pays you money and makes your choice. We will pay about 200 pounds at westwayland and have just as good a holiday

Many of us have tried them, though and found you get either a very good experience or a very bad one - no middle way. So the "middle way" that the CC and C&CC sites provide is preferable. And for us , with the 2 dogs included in the price and rarely staying
on any one site for a week or more, so not able to take up special offers, they work out at a reasonable price!

Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

that just about sums it all up moulesy, for some folk the commercials will suit their holiday ways and needs better whilst others will prefer our club and its preferred ways of operating.  Doesn't make sence to me to 'reduce' all providers to the 'same common denominator' and thus then lessening choice and preferences. Maintaining variety and difference makes so much sense to me. I have and do choose from both when I need too but on the whole the club certainly suits my needs and preferences better.

Interesting, Moulesy that you don't get very good service from CC sites......even though they charge top dollar.....

As has been said by a lot more people than the "knockers"when chosing cc or ccc sites in the majority of circumstances,it is a known good quality product  that can stand up to the majority of competion, as is noted in the majority of sites at peak periods, both
clubs seem to be investing, where possible ,in their sites some of which have been on the networks far longer than probably any posters on here, and i am sure its very difficult for either club to juggle the available money into which site gets this years investment
with over 300 sites between them, but as we know the few who actually post on here saying that the clubs are getting to expensive, has not reached the real world members

Interesting that you say that CC sites are a 'known good quality product' JVB.....and yet you have posted on the Clumber Park thread about the declining standards and the poorly maintained site Undecided

Well, you could just as easily have interpreted what I wrote as " you can be sure not to get very bad service from CC sites, even though they don't charge high rates", Ian.

They definitely don't charge top dollar when we use them, and as I said, we don't stay long enough on one site to get any special rates! Happy

Just returned from a very enjoyable long weekend (3 nights) on a C&CC CS site. At £10 a night you cannot beat it. The CC club site we contemplated would have worked out at £74. It is a no brainer. Spent enough of our life savings on buying the motorhome,
so need to make it economical.

It is only a no brainer if it is what you want. If you want a full blown club site it clearly isn't.

Write your comments here...The facilities would be exactly the same -- They are using exactly the same motorhome as they would be using in an all singing all dancing site.

Unless of course they liked spending time in Public Lavatories. Not everybody's idea of fun.

If the CS was on a farm it would be very secure.

    K.   Whist I would not claim that CC sites are immune from thefts, particularly ones like Clumber. You only have to google rural crime or thefts from farms, to see that your statement is very far from the truth.

.....but what 'extra' facilities does a full fat (either) club site give the customer?....

now, when i think of 'facilities' at a site, i think of a bar, restaurant, pool etc.....but the club doesnt offer these (apart from one or two sites) so we have to look more at the basics....

a toilet and shower used by scores of others which, in typical uk weather would mean getting soaked strolling (running) to and from the shower as well as when in itUndecided

other than that, nothing thats required over and above what you get an even the most basic cl/cs....

a pitch (usually much bigger on a cl)

a water tap (never a queue on a cl)

a chemical disposal point (again no queue)

an ehu (leccy the same all over the world so not a reason for touting a club site over a cl) though many users are happy without.

the shower might be useful for some but if its a 'necessity' unlikely to be the reason for being on a cl....

so, would the 'facilities' be a key driver steering cl users...? no, and probably not to a club (type) site....

'security'.....at a cc site? what keeps nosy/noisy folk out of a club site, especially after the 'security office' is shut and the 'unwanted visitors' are on foot, bikes or motorcycles....?

yes, the barrier system might keep unwanted vehicles out but is the site 'secure'.....no. Clumber Park anyone?

a good large commercial might employ all night security services but a club site....?Sad

BB when are you going to accept that we are all different? Some like CL type sites with no, or limited facilities, others don't  and prefer a full toielet block and 16 amps. Yes I know some CL's now offer these facilities, but these are generally more expensive,
just as a larger facility site will be. Just be grateful that we all don't want to visit your favourite CL's, or they might have to invoke a frenzy booking day as well
