Read CL updates in The Magazine page 32. It's under Ellesmere

Best get in quick it will soon be fully booked. Wink

Make sure you don't go to the one underneath, it's over 3 times the price. Surprised

Won't see the magazine till we get home some time next month. Certainly won't be using the the one underneath regardless of it's facilities.Laughing

I guess if its in an area we want to be in and its the only/best then we pay the price.  If there is a CC site close by in the summer then the £20/night CL starts to look good value, its all about prespective

This months new additions to the network. 10 new. Most between £12 & £15 with ehu. 2 at a staggering £20 but with all facilities and 1 with ehu and shower £6

Can the last one be true. Bet people will be queuing up by now.

Are they listed yet in the New CL section? What's the name of the one that's £6?

Nellie, it can be found in the CL search under Shropshire, Ellesmere.   i've still not mastered the art of doing a link on this tablet, but this is it: http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/search-and-book/certificated-locations/site-detail/?Id=604282&town=Ellesmere&county=28209&facilities=

It does indeed say £6 on the website, NOT from £6.

And thereby lies the explanation of the £6 price.

It does not have ehu on the website listing but the announcement in The Magazine states "16 amps".

Thought it was to good to be true

Well, not necessarily.  Not everyone needs EHU, we don't have it where the option exists not to have it, like in France.  With a solar panel and plenty of gas we managed very well without EHU for about half of our 6+ weeks away recently.

But I accept that it isn't for everybody, although I think it's a good price at £6.

EHU and Hardstandings are the first questions asked by new visitors when they are making a booking.

The new CL in Ellesmere, Manoravon is 3 miles from us, so I've just popped-over to introduce myself and invite the owner, Andrew Dixon, to join the CL Owners FaceBook Group.

Unfortunately, the CC made errors in both the magazine and on the website. Manoravon has no EHU and no showers.  This is definitely a CL for those who wish to use batteries or solar panels - Merve please take note.

Ellesmere is a great place for a holiday, and I'm pleased that between us our two CLs can bring visitors to this part of Shropshire, whether they want EHU or not.

For those who prefer EHU, we still have pitches available at Birch Hill @ £12 per night all-in, including EHU & Wi-Fi.

Perhaps an effect of the mild weather here, but if I can get a booking for 2 more nights this month, it will make this the best October for bookings since our CL opened.

Do we think £6 to park a caravan overnight on a grass area with no electricity, no showers, no wash basins, no toilets, no dishwashing sinks, no motorhome waste water dump, no hard standings, and perhaps no wi-fi ....is really
    cheap,  or actually dear?

If you are referring to Manoravon, it does have hardstandings.

Location plays a big part - Ellesmere is a lovely part of Shropshire, with lots to see and do within a 45 minute drive-time radius, including Shrewsbury, Chester, Llangollen and 4 excellent National Trust properties, as well as wildlife around the Meres and rural canals.

Take it as a generalisation Ian. I couldn't possibly comment on a CL I haven't seen. But I think £6 to park in a field somewhere (not Ellesmere) with just a water tap is actually dear.

tt cost me £3 to park my car for 40 minutes last week. On that basis I don't think £6 for 24 hours is expensive

....Jay, that was going to be my comparison, too....

parking in the uk, even in a field (with or without ehu or shower) is dear...

at the other end of the spectrum, camping where ET usually goes, is considerably cheaper.....

so, CL in the UK at £6, pretty good even with no facs...

How you can say its dear is difficult to comment on when you compare it with other costs for the likes of car parking, Looking at some of the prices for new cl's lately this site has got to be the cheapest for a long time.. There isn't many cheaper in the
    book

That rather depends upon whether you need them or not.

Some/many motorhomers and caravanners have most of those facilities on board already. I for one don't go away and attempt to experience being at home.

If comparing CL pitch fees with car parking in Ellesmere, I'm sorry to say that North Shropshire District Council imposed car parking charges for Ellesmere car parks a few years ago.Sad

Having said that, the parking charge of 10p for 2 hours is more of a nuisance than a hardship - especially when we can also park on the shopping streets for up to 40 minutes at no cost (free after 6pm).Wink

Well, as I said, I think it's a good price.  It's good to have the choice as well; as Ian (Birch Hill CL) pointed out, people can choose whether they want/need EHU or not if they want to stay on a CL in the area.

Give me a field every time! I used to pay £13, £14, £15 a night for a pitch and 20p worth of electricity. I made my stand against  high prices 3 years ago. Fitted my own 135w SP, a second battery and a good inverter and now have equally comfortably holidays for £4, £5, £6 a night -!   - oh, and I save a small fortune on gas cylinders from Calor by using my own Safefill. To the folk who can and want to pay ripoff prices I say good luck to you- I'm sure the businesses you support are more than grateful but you are not doing the rest of us any favours. I can honestly say that some of the non EHU sites we have gone to are stunning and I have never found one without water and waste which would be ridiculous. We have everything we need on board - - including WIFI!!

Well gibbo, the last one I went to is stunning with a 2 year waiting list (no, I'm not saying where it is) , the one before that was full all the time I was there, and the one before that so mainly they are well patronised. Perhaps people are catching on about non EHU? Our visit to Drift Farm, Cromer, Norfolk in a couple of weeks time is a solitary one at the moment I understand but that's the time of year I guess. Really looking forward to it though as Norfolk is a favourite haunt and has been for 55 yrs!  £6 a night! Wonderful walks around Felbrigg and the whole of the North Norfolk coast to wander on- can't be bad!
