Interesting this..... when I phoned to cancel I stated that I called rather than do it online as I thought that speaking to an 'advisor' they could use discretion....
I was told I'd be lucky as it would probably only apply to a death or a vehicle 'catching fire'.
I would suggest your circumstance could fall into that category, especially as it was on site & wardens can verify!!!!
Worth a challenge.

YT, I used the email address Rowena gave in this thread to put my case forward & she replied promptly the next morning.
I had a response from uksitesbookingservice@camc.com pointing out the T & C's but as a 'gesture of goodwill' have been sent a £20 e-voucher towards a future stay.
This is approx half of my loss (which I know wasn't much) so consider this acceptable but will be more 'savvy' with how I book in the future & add additional 'guests' on arrival as even amending/removing guests carries a % of loss of deposit which I consider harsh if the booking is not being cancelled.....

Update on my earlier post this morning....
I have received a further email from Membership Services advising of an E-voucher equal to the amount of my deposit to which I am grateful & have advised them of the previous voucher that was issued that will not be used.
There are obviously processes!

High winds prevented me travelling to a booked site. I called the site and was told I would have to 'take the hit' and lose the day's payment, if I arrived the next day. I then asked about cancelling and any financial penalties. He was not sure at all, and told me to contact head office. He gave me the phone number, but when i called, the office was closed, as it was weekend.
As it was, I travelled late in the day, when the winds had lessened a little. Not ideal as I am a lone female traveller with fibromyalgia. My friends travelled, in their van, the next day and have been told that they have lost a day's payment.
I would like to know what are the new regulations around this?
As it stands, I don't think I'll be booking any sites in advance from now on.
I did also notice that the site I stayed on was definitely quieter than in other years.
